Aaron Boone and Juan Soto on Seth Lugo's performance against Yankees: 'We were silent' | SNY

Aaron offense, clearly, incredibly quiet with logo and seven strong, just what made him so tough. Yeah, I mean, that was probably, you know, as good a performance against us this year, we were silent. And I think he was ahead in the count looked like he was really daunting his location wise, with, with a big mix, you know? I mean it's two fastballs, it's cutter, it's slider, it's curve, ball change and Vary the speeds on all of those. So and then got a lead ahead in the count and and you know, not making a lot of mistakes was off our barrel and had some swing and Miss in there too. So you know, really until Soto hit the ball, hard to left, and then Wells got the base hit. You know, he did a good job of just staying away from any kind of trouble from against us. You mentioned getting ahead in the count when he's 01 02. It seems like almost every batter knowing what he has in his Arsenal. Just how difficult is that for a hitter in the box when you're behind? Yeah, so many things he can go to. Yeah. I mean I think it was Hard for everyone to get a bead on them. You know, he's not making mistakes, it's hard to really look one pitch because, you know, he's throwing the kitchen sink at you and he's changing speeds on and he's got a lead. He knows how to attack with that, you know, he beat us tonight with Stroman. What were you seeing from him? I thought. Sure. I was all right, you know, obviously I had some traffic out, you know, it didn't give up a ton of hard contact necessarily, I like that. He was pounding, the strike zone for the most part. You know, made a couple mistakes in situations with Runners out there where you know, they're able to pad the lead but you know, he gave us, you know, got into the sixth inning with three runs. It was just you know with the way Lugo was going to, you know, seem like a bigger lead Mark ladder jr. Gave up another home run. It seems like he's not really been able to find consistency or his way since coming over here. Why do you think that is? Yeah, you know still trying to get to know him again there's been a lot of good Within Real Ting, there's been some outings where he's been real strong, there's been some outings where he's gotten hurt with slug. Whether it's a, fastball, whether it's getting behind, not Landon some of his secondary pitches and he kind of gets backed into a corner, you know, but then tonight you also see the swing and Miss there with the split that he has to. So and then, you know, as in pitching a few days now. So just got to keep grinding with them. And You know, get them in position to be successful. I believe there was a point where I think he was me set up mixing it up, but pitches really well too high on he was just pounding the strike zone but he's constantly ahead. Just how difficult is it? Knowing he is so much to go to in his repertoire up there. I think it's big time for Him. It was pain in the strike zone. He was putting strike one and strike two to it, most of the other guys, but yeah, that's an easy stuff. Whatever guy who has like nine pitches and he was showing every page they sell. He was throwing everything. He was confident about it and he just keep us off balance. Looks like the Orioles are in Ruto. When you guys have 17 left to play now. Moving, moving forward. Is how much are you watching the school board? And kind of keeping up with what they're doing? We have to be paying attention to that. We really focus on what we can do here. We trying to win games and that's all that matters though. We don't care what they do. They win or loss, good for them, but we focus and what we can do. Every day here, you feel extra pressure. Sure, as the seasons winding down now. No. I mean, we just, we've been playing really good baseball all year long as well. I think we just, we just got to keep doing the same thing. Try to relax, put put ourselves in a good spot to finish the season. Well, Lucas put together a game like this. Do you guys think you have to like figure out how to solve him kind of going toward October? I don't think so. I think we have a really good plan when we Face them in Kansas City. So I think we just we just got it back to that game and try to do the same thing with it there. Your impressions of Dominguez, I'm even play with them or season. But when you saw me as weeks in the spring, how much sure he is, you know, he's, he's coming to the game, he's coming through the field every day to show that he has the ability and he's ready to play and show everybody that he can play. Before and different roles how much has this Arsenal changed and how impressive was with how much he's sort of developed as a picture over the years? So like that since the first time I faced him, he's been adding like 45 pitches. So I think that's really, that's what he's been making him better and better throughout the year. So I think that's the biggest difference that I've been seeing over here. I've been feeling pretty good. I think he ran the ball. Hard just haven't find the holes yet but today I and I'm and I make a great swing to I feel and it just got caught. So I've been feeling pretty good. I'm in a good spot, I think.
