HERE IS A LIVE LOOK AT MICHIGAN AVENUE FROM ROOSEVELT TO RANDOLPH. WE ALSO HEARD THE CITY IS MOVING STREETS AND SANITATION TRUCKS TO BLOCK ROADS AT MICHIGAN AND WACKER AND SOME ENTRANCES TO THE EXPRESSWAY INCLUDING THE EISENHOWER. OUR DARIUS JOHNSON IS LIVE IN THE LOOP COVERING THE TRAFFIC AND THE CHICAGO PRIDE THAT COMES WITH THIS WEEKEND. A LOT OF HORN BLOWING AND FLAG WAVING, AND EXCEPT FOR THE TRAFFIC EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE GOING SMOOTHLY. >> Reporter: DAVE, A LOT OF HORN BLOWING AT ONE POINT I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD HEAR YOU WHEN YOU CAME TO US BUT IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF TRAFFIC IS SPORADIC AND AT ONE POINT, YOU CAN SEE THAT THE STREETS ARE JAMPACKED AND THEN ABOUT FIVE MINUTES LATER IT SEEMS LIKE THINGS ARE CLEARING UP . BUT TAKE A LOOK BEHIND ME, RIGHT HERE ON CLARK STREET IN BETWEEN DEALEY PLAZA AND CITY HALL, BACKOUT HERE LIVE, YOU CAN SEE EXACTLY WHAT THIS TRAFFIC LOOKS LIKE RIGHT HERE, YOU CAN SEE CHICAGO POLICE RIGHT HERE AS WELL AND ONE INTERESTING THING THAT WE HAVE SEEN IN THE LAST 10 OR 15 MINUTES IS POLICE GOING CAR TO CAR, PULLING A LOT OF THE FLAGPOLES THAT PEOPLE MAY HAVE AS THEY ARE USING WOODEN STICKS FOR THE FLACKS, THEY ARE TAKING THOSE WOODEN STICKS SO THAT NO PEOPLE CAN NO LONGER WEAPON EYES THEM, THAT IS ONE THING POLICE HAVE BEEN DOING TAKING DISTANCE FROM A LOT OF CARS AS THEY PASSED THROUGH THE AREA AND REALLY TRYING TO HOLD A FIRM LINE. TAKE A LOOK AT SOME VIDEO THAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GATHER. TONIGHT IS NIGHT TWO OF MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS IN CHICAGO, THINGS KICKED OFF LAST NIGHT ON MICHIGAN AVENUE AND ON NIGHT TWO, MANY ARE BACK YOU CAN SEE CARAVANS WHICH ARE VERY POPULAR AND ALSO A WAY FOR PEOPLE TO DEMONSTRATE PRIDE AND HERITAGE, SOME ARE SEEN WAVING FLAGS FROM THEIR VEHICLES ARE HAVING THEM COMPLETELY COVER THEIR VEHICLES WHILE OTHERS ARE HOLDING FLACKS AS THEY WALK AROUND DOWNTOWN, SHOWING THEIR PRIDE. AT ONE POINT TONIGHT, SOME WERE SEEN EXITING VEHICLES, AND BEGAN RUNNING DOWN MICHIGAN AVENUE, CHANTING, WHILE WE WERE OUT THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND CHICAGO POLICE STARTED TO PREPARE FOR THE INFLUX OF PEOPLE BY HAVING TRUCKS NEARBY, THOSE TRUCKS ARE NOW USED TO BEING LOCKED MANY STREETS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. ALONG WITH THOSE IN THEIR CAR CELEBRATING, MANY ARE LEAVING THE FESTIVAL ON FOOT. THE FESTIVAL CONTINUES TOMORROW WITH PLENTY OF ACTIVITIES, FOOD AND PERFORMANCES FOR BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN, EARLIER WE HAD A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH SOME ABOUT SOME FESTIVALGOERS ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO CELEBRATE MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY. IN HOPES OF PREVENTING ANY POSSIBLE GRIDLOCK WITH THE CAR CARAVANS DOWN HERE. THOSE STREET CLOSURES ALSO IMPACTING SOME CTA BUSES, DUE TO THE LARGE CROWDS. RIGHT NOW, CTA ADVISES ANY PASSENGERS WHO NEED TO GET FROM POINT A TO POINT B TO USE THE L LINE, AND YOU CAN SEE CHICAGO POLICE OUT HERE IN FULL FORCE, AND THERE ARE OFFICERS ON THE BACKSIDE OF OUR CAMERAS AS WELL, JUST TRYING TO ENSURE THAT THE CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE SAFELY, AND RESPONSIBLY AS WELL.
