coach I know you always say you want to recognize you want to watch the replay of things did you get a chance to look at the uh iPad after the pick six and if so what' you see was it a different scheme they ran a good play on there he made a good play he jumped up and we're throwing a look pass out to to wandell and came off the edge jumped up made a nice play it looked looked Dave's like he was had a lot of low balls in the Dirk Daniel what what did you see out there without looking at the film yeah I'd say this I'm going to go back watch the tape see what we can do better obviously there's a lot so that's what we'll do starts with me did you ever consider taking Daniel out of the game no no you look sort of unsettled and decisive I mean I much to say you're calling the plays did you see were they doing something different than you guys expected defensively why do you think that was no they they actually didn't pressure that that much pressured a few times um again I'm going to go back watch the tape try to make the corrections and and be better ran you spent a lot of the offseason you put an emphasis on throwing the ball down the field you thre I think it was Zero balls 20 plus yards in the air yeah why do you why do you think that was yeah I mean look we're going to go back and watch it we certainly called plays um sometimes they' take them away we got to do we got to do a better job all the way around starts with me or was it something you well they played they played a bunch of soft shell you know split safety stuff they did so but again again I'm going to go back watch it we can do everything better but but it all starts with me even though they play that do you still want to see your team take some of those shots down the field is it something at times where you have to take that risk and you have to play as good as we can play Jordan whatever that may be what and we didn't do that today you talk about the nine penalties that you guys had today yeah um you know penalties hurt you know either keep drives alive back you up on offense get put in you know unfavorable situations so lot to clean up overall Brian what would be your message to your team after this yeah I thought we we prepared well um you I thought they give good effort I thought the defense played hard you know we gave up a you know pick six down there and um but there's a lot of a lot of things to clean up so again I got to do a better job all the way around and and that's what I'll do any additional disappointment in it being a night for the 100 best players in franchise history and celebration of team no I think when you lose you're always disappointed so um again had a good week of prep came out you know didn't uh didn't get the job done today and that that falls on me Brian this team seemed eager to you know there's a lot of negativism outside the building about what this team can be this seem team seem eager to try to quiet that and um the booze fairly early and then I mean do you think that maybe unnerves some players a little bit no look our job is to go out there and and perform um and we didn't do that Brian what did you see at of darnold today play I mean they they kept him in good situations you know he made a couple nice plays down there to Jefferson on the V route and you know they stayed on track you didn't have that many plays but you know did a nice job how did you feel about the protection of Daniel Jones with the sacks yeah I thought again let me go back and look at it um I thought the line communicated well I there might have been one or two but um you know sacks are a team team stat what was the thought process in the the back toback quarterback runs there the ball around Midfield second quarter yeah one we we've been working on this one for a while on Third and I'd say one to to three a little trap play for mty so that was that was going to be one of our first third down calls we practiced it and you didn't didn't finish it you say the idea that this is an extension of of last year with very similar offensively just in i' say last year's last year focus on this game and you know a lot to clean up obviously that on that drive why did you why did you there it was 43 from the 49 I think thought it was the best thing to do coach when you when you go back and you look at it are you looking to see if the receivers are uh finding the soft Zone to sit versus keep drifting it looked like a few times they drifted given the way the The Zone was yeah I'm going to have to go back and look at it I know wand Del was was in the right spot most of the time on some of that soft stuff but again let's let's go back and and watch the tape lot to fix Brian how did you think neighbors looked out there today one more time how did you think um Malik neighbors looked today yeah again we just got done here made plays on the ball when when he had an opportunity to and you know we'll go back and look at itan where's your confidence in Daniel right now yeah I'd say just overall we have to do a better job and that starts with me how concerned are you about his confidence that F on yeah I'd say look we got we got to do a better job all the way around um you know he'll learn from the tape and we'll be better next week why should the why should the fans feel confident that this will turn around from today yeah look I can't talk for anybody else I know what we're going to do we're going to come back in and tomorrow morning go to work learn have a good week of practice and do everything we can do to get ready for for week two this was your first game um calling the plays not a the preseason you know first time um did did everything go well you know in their communication and all that stff by a lot and didn't score so wasn't good enough as far as just the the the mechanics of it what' you see from Burns and Tibido I'd have to go back and and look at it I didn't M play uh again those we'll talk about that here um with the coaching staff tomorrow but um gunar didn't either know gunar got hurt in pregame fielded a punch so um we'll have discussions about that you saying that mik was injury related you're you're kind of grouping him in with gun yeah I'd say I'd say we're we're going to meet here um tomorrow and you know we'll discuss it was he available to play though like were you okay with him playing physically like that that's yeah I'd say they had 51 plays you know I'd say we're going to go with Darius to start out see how it went and you that's where we're at with it the uh um um this Gunner was out of big I mean he came in with the injury and and he just really yeah no it just happened it happened in pregame um you know I walked over to him saw it happen went in check with the trainers and couldn't go did you f that left you short I mean Darius has done it but he didn't look very comfortable back there yeah that's our that's our backup so why do you guys only have 51 men on the roster yeah it was roster management relative to to some of the guys that we released or put on the practice squad so we'll revisit that tomorrow dve on the the one coming out in the third quarter they you you had a third long you stopped them looked like you going to get the ball back in that situation and tibo got called for a face mask did you get a look at what happened I think it was Burns well they announced Burns and then they Chang so again you know it's you're going to get calls you're not going to get calls at the end of the day we got to do a better job of stars with me are you surprised at this result I mean you changed your practice schedule regimen you guys worked hard in the summer does this catch you off guard at all yeah well look you got to do a good job to to give yourself a chance and um obviously we didn't so no excuses um give Minnesota Credit I didn't do a good enough job and you know we'll work hard to fix it is there anything when you walk out of here that you say okay well at least we did that at least we could do that well not at this time no coach what was it about the 12 minut you got one of the penalties 12 in the in the Huddle and then you had a delay of game out there put it all on me Brian what would your message be to the fans right now yeah we got to do a better job know that's what we're going to work on doing couple more Brian not that you're looking for excuses but that the um on a was on Ador the pass interference that looked like a questionable call what did you think yeah I'm not going to comment on the on the officiating I thought Ador tried to do the right thing um again it's bang bang play and then they called it how much does it take out of a team when they go 99 yards did that drive yeah uh you know you'd love to hold them back there and make him punt it and get an opportunity points expected but uh yeah that was a long one um they execute it well and something we got to fix would you consider the quarterback change as you reviewed this game yeah we're just we're going to we're going to watch everything Pat um you know that's not in my mind overall what was your personal assessment of your performance in the offense today yeah obviously not good enough um didn't get any In The End Zone scored six points um didn't uh create much Rhythm and flow for ourselves and um yeah I've got to be better uh certainly got to you know play better give ourselves more chances to make plays and and uh execute more consistently what was your conversation uh just trying to get the ball out to W Del um yeah what was your conversation like with uh coach D after the game in terms of you know where things are and where things are going um I think we'll get in watch the film uh see what we can do uh better see how I you know need to play better and uh go from there but um yeah I think we're uh we're focused on that how concerned are you that he will you know replace you with quarterback I'm focused on doing my job and and playing as well as I can so um I've got to play better I know that um and I'm uh focus on doing that and you seem to have a number of throws that were kind of low in the dirt over there did was that just the little rut you got into what was what was going on there yeah I just got to uh keep my balance and make a good accurate throw um yeah I certainly look at that and and uh need to correct it what I'm sorry I'm a little late somebody asked what happened on the pick six yeah just trying to get the ball out to wandell there on the screen um I'll look at it see if I can get it out quicker how would you describe your confidence right now uh good I think I got to continue to you know get into a rhythm and uh you know get going complete some balls uh get things moving I think you know we all gota uh all got to do that and that'll help us you know build confidence and and uh keep going Daniel was that part of the problem today it didn't seem like anybody not just you anybody was getting into a rhythm on their offense yeah I think um obviously it's uh you know largely my responsibility to help us do that um and uh you know keep going complete passes uh move the ball so you know I've got to look at where I can be better but yeah I think we all need to uh all need to work to get into a rhythm and and execute consistently down the field last year you had a tough week one game and then a stretch where things didn't go so well that you wanted after that how do you prevent that from happening this year um yeah I mean I think it's about uh seeing where we need to be better and and addressing those areas and then executing um it comes down to you know making the play EX shoting um and uh and getting going so uh I know we got the guys to do that confident in myself confident in the group and uh we'll go from there Daniel how much did the overall play of the offense surprise you today given the fact that it felt like you guys came out of training camp feeling pretty good yeah obviously we uh expect expected to play much better than we did today um a lot of things we didn't do well like I said and um thought you know we had a good week of preparation had a good week of camp or had a good training camp um so we've got to you know look at uh the things we need to to do better today and and uh clean those up were there any glitches with dble calling the plays at all or anything along those lines no it was smooth smooth yeah the fans seem to get Restless early as you guys struggle to get into a rhythm how does that affect you guys when you're hearing the booze get louder and you're you're struggling to try to get things rolling and plus plus with a lot of some young guys on the team too yeah I mean I think um it's our job to give them something to cheer about and to play well to execute um and we take that seriously so um you know they uh expect us to play well we expect to play well we've got to do that um excuse me if I missed this but um did you talk about um the interception in the end zone and what could you take us through that like did you not see it or like something in your way or um yeah the screen out to W Del I think um trying to get the ball out quick uh get it in his hands let him run this has been asked but how did it feel in the pocket today pressure you looked at I don't know didn't look 100% comfortable at times as your retirement um yeah I've got to do a good job of um of staying in there when it's good and and moving and find the soft spot uh look at where I can do that better um something I'm always working on what bothers you most as any are you just off the field here but about your your performance today when you look at it what what what's the thing you'd like to take back most fact that we scored six points didn't execute in the Red Zone um didn't consistently execute and move the ball um I think all those things was there a specific play though you that bothers you the most um no I mean I think um I'll look at it and see see where I need to be better um but yeah there's there's uh you know we need to need to improve I need to play better how did the line actually in your opinion today getting out there for the first time game action with them say it again uh the offensive line what did you see um and getting out there in game action for the first time yeah I thought uh thought they played well I think um you know we'll look at uh look at the film see where I can help him out uh see where we can we can do things better I think um you know we'll look at it but um yeah I think that'll be something we f on this week how do you think Malik did in his first NFL game proba he played well made a couple couple big plays and some nice catches I got to find a way to get him the Walmore Mark Daniel is it discouraging like is it uh I mean certainly frustrating and and disappointing to uh get the result you know today that we did um I think for us we got to understand this is the first week and and there's a lot of football to play so we've got to clean it up we got to make some uh improvements fast and um a lot of football to play so that's what we're going to do is there anything you're looking forward to against the commanders uh clean it up and playing better what did uh what did you think about your first regular season NFL game in terms of the tempo the speed and and how you think you did personally um you know I feel like I did pretty well for my first game um you know Tempo slowed down since you know since I first got out there but um still a lot of stuff to learn still a lot of stuff to go look over the feminine fix what kind of stuff did you see from their defense I mean uh it's clear everybody knows who you are so there must have been some things that that they were throwing at you that were maybe a little bit more complicated than the preseason I mean nothing different than I saw in film a lot of junk Tampa um really a lot of cover too um we just got to capitalize and stay on track really I mean we we we beat ourselves today we have a lot of penalties that we need to fix on so you know stay from backed up you know when you backed up is kind of hard to get right on track so we got to stay above the sticks yeah always difficult when there's so many penalties but what do you think the other Factor was in terms of being bogged down offensively I know it also hurts to have to play from behind all the time I mean we got to catch the ball we had way too many drops including myself I have one um but you know when we get that opportunity to make plays we got to make those plays and we didn't do that today M obviously they couldn't get you the ball in the first two or three series I think how what was happening there what was your action not being able to get the ball cuz it looked like based on preseason D was going to feed you pretty regularly um I mean just look over the film see how many see what ways we can give me the ball in space um you know Daniel said he was trying to give me the ball um he saw a lot of pressure in his face so I mean I can't control that so um you know they tried to give me the ball just stuff wasn't working right so we just got to fix that up what emotions are you feeling right now frustration I mean no it's you going to lose games it's how really you bounce back first game of the season does determine your season um so you know we just got to keep on going as a team Malik you guys offensively I'm sure had hoped for a much better showing in this so what are your thoughts on coming out not you know not scoring a touchdown I mean first game of the season um a lot of new stuff going on L online so you know we just got to you know go over the film practice way harder than we did um and just come out better next week I mean that's all really we can do uh you mentioned the practice stuff how did you feel about the tempo and practice this past week um Tempo and practi was pretty good um like I said you know a lot of penalties was beat today you know if we can stay above you know keep on getting first down stay pass the third down fourth down um you know can help offense you know create some big plays are you surprised you guys weren't able to get the ball downfield I don't know if there was a 20 30 yard throw attempted all game and that's what the all training camp was pushing the ball down field I mean we was taking with the giv us I mean you know they playing a lot of Zone um you know there was blitzing running running down the quarterback so you know we were just trying to get the ball and you know and those coverages that they were trying get the ball in space they was doing a really good job of staying over the top of us receivers um so you know D just trying to get it in those spots you know open zones how do you how do you put this aside quickly you have a lot of games still ahead right I mean you you just got to go over the film um go back and practice tomorrow um look at the tape um and just be better next time I mean that's all you can do really did you feel that he didn't look for you as much as you would have expected I mean know he you know I don't know really what was going on back there but um you know I'm getting out my routes and you know I'm just just trying to make a play um trying to find him trying to make you know better throw for him to make um so I mean I was just doing my job I mean that's what that's all I can do Malik I know practice was practice you guys had a good camp and you guys hit a bunch of a bunch of throws how surprising is it that there would be struggles offensively today given how good you guys looked in practice the last month I mean practice in the game is really different I mean you got to prepare for practice you got to prepare with going to do just like we making changes they're making changes too so um like I said they did a really good job of staying over the top did you think you were going to get that first one until that guy came flying out of nowhere uh I mean I see the guy flying out so uh I was just I was trying to catch it before I was trying to make a move before I caught it a lot obviously goes into the score but you guys come out of the game I think without a sack is [Music] that yeah Dex had a second um yeah real early first series um other than that we were around him uh I got a couple hits on them KT got a couple hits on them um it was just hard to get get them off their game plan and get them off the track you know they they uh they did a good job at executing what they wanted to do and uh you know that's play action um shots to 18 you know try to try to lower you down with the with the Run game and uh they kind of did that when when you just can't can't get it going as a team really offensively and defensively in a game like this what do you do with in terms of reacting going forward going forward you talking about end the game or after no like one game is behind you now as you go forward what's your what's your approach uh it's always getting back to the Drone Bo getting better um you know it's going to be a whole new week new opponent so now that this is behind us you learn from your mistakes and you move on how frustrating is this for your first game with the Giants you know expecting that the place was electric with a lot of the Legends here yeah yeah it was great great Vibe the fans came out they were loud great um like I said football is football you know momentum switches and it's just football you know uh anything can happen so um you know I wouldn't say disappointed cuz I just know how the game go I've been playing for a while and I know how things can get was it interesting how quickly the fans turned on your halftime they bowling you the third quarter there I didn't hear that Brian we're not used to seeing Don be as sharp as he was today but he his first 11 passes out of the gate did you see anything different about him than what you've seen on film no I told y'all darn was talented you know I told you we had to get around him we had to affect him which I feel like we did a good job of but at times you know he was able to stay on track but I told you he was talented so I mean I didn't I don't I don't overlook opponents you know so and I played with him for two years coach said this team was really prepared the Giants were ready to go just just going to look at the tape and try to evaluate what happened can you put your finger on anything specific for today not exactly um you know you got to watch the film you know and then really see what what happened what went down and um grow from there Bobby how disappointing was it to start in this fashion uh pretty disappointing um not too discouraging um you know it's a long season there's a lot to be encouraged by um like I was telling Edward the rookies played really well I thought Darius played extremely well I thought uh Andrew Phillips came in and played well I thought Tyler Newman did a great job in the secondary so uh there's a lot of building blocks to build off of um now everyone's just hold themselves personally accountable how important is it to not get down on yourselves after just one game yeah very important um and you know you almost have to block out the media like they'll tell you you're the worst team in the world or the best team in the world after one week but it's a long season 17we season um so yeah we just got to go back um focus on our process of results and you focus on what we got to do Monday Bobby one thing we thought a lot during Camp was that the pass rush was going to be very Dynamic didn't seem like it was today uh your thoughts about maybe why that wasn't the case uh I mean that was probably their game plan um to take those guys out um run a lot of you know outside Zone play action boot get the ball out quick so you know guys like Brian Burns Dex uh can't get back there which they were still able to but um that was probably a big emphasis for them game plan was what did you see from him in a game where obviously things were difficult for the offense and he didn't get the ball he didn't get involved early yeah um I mean we lost and we didn't play very well on offense and I don't think anybody was happy about that but I mean at least a competitor you know obviously uh we were all disappointed in the outcome and we all want to do better we all believe we can't be better so you obviously he wasn't happy but you know at the same time wouldn't expect him to be what happened on the pun return like you were going to catch it they weren going to catch it yeah I started to run up on it and catch it and then it kind of caught the wind a little bit and moved a little more than I thought so I was just going to catch it off of one bounce and I just got too close to the ball and I should have I should have just let it go cuz that was my first thought but uh yeah should just probably Let It Go I mean how how Confidant or or how comfortable are you you know you don't do it as a rule right now you know not person line here it's a skill I have I can do it you know at the end of the day I'm I'm about whatever I need to do to help the team win and um when Gunner went down you know I'm the next you know best option at P return so if that's the case I'll go back there and do it to the best of my ability and were you told I you weren't told to fair catch or anything you have to you could kept clear just tell me to go back there and make a good decision you know and at that time I didn't but uh subsequent times I did so you know football happens was this loss disappointing frustrating puzzling can you your finger on what what you would say about it uh frustrating I think because a lot goes into a season and season opener and I think we all wanted to come out here and play well you know uh especially kicking off the Giants Hunter season we all wanted to come out here and have a better showing than that and we obviously didn't do that so you know we know we got to get it fixed and we got to get it fixed fast you've seen Daniel um play better than this certainly like his sum throws were just not on target to the ground I mean what did you see that as well uh yeah it's hard to say cuz I I can't I'm running a route as well so I don't know pressure I don't know what happens to lead to a potential off throw but um you know like I said across the board we could have all done better and we got to do better if we want a different outcome how would you explain what happened out there today uh we lost um that's the only way to put it um no Panic though week one uh we got a lot to learn um yeah just we just lost why was Sam Dar so affect his receivers are catching the ball I don't know like I mean we just got to you know play a little tighter coverage we got to get to the quarterback a little faster um it's a we got to work more as a unit any Panic after one game no no Panic why uh because I know who we have in in the locker room um I trust everyone everybody in the locker room uh we know we have confidence in each other and you know we prepared well they just they just beat us today de you have a team down at the one yard line that's where you want to be how difficult was it to give up a 99 yard uh pretty difficult um you know few plays that led to touchdowns for them couple penalties uh we got to clean up on um other than that you know we played them pretty well on defense uh you know just got to be more consistent you heard um you know obviously the crowd was excited they had a nice halftime Feld players um you're on defense not offense but there was some fans did not seem very happy at a lot of points in this game could you hear that on the sideline uh can I can I hear the fans yeah I mean you know however many fans there are yeah booing at home yeah your team could I hear them yeah cut can you get another question please do you pay how what do you make of that what do you make of the board uh I mean it I I don't respect it honestly um I get it uh they want to see their team win um you know it's it's just a rough patch uh I mean it just is what it is Dexter after a tough first half you guys came in at halftime and I'm sure that you were thinking things could turn around in the third quarter and then they didn't what adjustments were you trying to make that just didn't seem to work out um you know just clean up on some penalties uh you know that's that was the biggest thing you know um defense we had to do better on second andone um uh I think I think we came out in the second half and played pretty tough defense uh but you know at the end of the day we lost we got to go in tomorrow and get the corrections and prepare again I just asked Kon some encouragement from Newan moris sou Phillips all these rookies made some significant plays and and what does that tell you about those kids uh you know just just want to and um you know just their confidence in themsel and their their Readiness to be go out there and play as many snaps as they did and you know do it at effective level so you know I'm proud of them uh you know you just got to we can't let that excitement you know carry to next week next week is a new week and we got to go out there and improve ourselves speaking speaking of rookies what you see with Chapman next year oh good uh you know Chad he's very explosive strong little short dude um but uh you know he got heart and you got want to and you know that's all you can ask for a partner next to you what would you say is the key to making sure that one disappointing game doesn't turn into stram uh I think it's on the leaders um the captains of the team just to you know get everybody Minds right ready for the new week uh flush this uh own it first of all you know own your bad plays own your good plays um and I think it's just on us to to turn the page and you know get the guys ready for a new week new challenge when you look at tape is there certain plays that you're looking forward to seeing closer on tape uh you know just some runs that broke um you know for me that's for me that's what I probably be looking for the most there some runs that broke um through the through the line um you know some sacks that that could have been could have been had uh um and then for the back end just just the the coverage part of things um you know just we just got we just got to come out on Sunday and play better that's it
