Dabo Swinney Is Destroying Clemson Football | Clemson Football 2024

Clemson football is slowly bleeding to death and it's pretty clear to me that dbos swinny either doesn't care or more likely than not he's living in denial about the state of Clemson football the Tigers have regressed every year since their 15 and0 Elite run in 2018 in which quite honestly they are one of the greater college football teams of all time undefeated dominant especially in the college football playoff where they crushed Notre Dame crushed Alabama and the regression from 18 to 19 and then from 19 to 20 wasn't that big of a deal and in a certain degree with all the great players that were on the 2018 team it it can be expected but then to regress from 20 to 21 that was big 21 to 22 small but you were hoping for a bounce back and then from 22 to 23 that was another especially in terms of record in terms of teen dominance in terms of just overall performance almost another drop off of a cliff or at least falling down another Hill at the very minimum hopefully those analogies make sense when little things compound over time and you ignore them you let them persist they turn into big issues Clems is the epitome of that they are the epitome of the student who showed up to class late or who did did a mediocre job or didn't perform to his potential in a homewor or test assignment and then he let it happen again and again and again and again and now he's teetering on failing the class either by way of being tardy too many times or just not having a good grade and and not knowing or learning anything in the class or if you want to look at someone with a job he's now teetering on the brink of being fired because he showed up to work late too many times or he's come and hung over not performing to his level he doesn't even know what he's doing at his job he had the qualifications on his resume or so we thought but now it's looking like it's just confusing that's what Clemson football is right now and this quote from dbos swinny today is it's just stunning it is absolutely a passive aggressive deflection get off my lawn I know what I'm doing I run this program take a listen to this honestly every player is technically a transfer we just signed a whole class of guys transferring from high school again the this is dbos swinny this is not a troll account this is the head coach of a program that has won two national championships in the past decade in 2016 in 2018 a program that was top five in terms of raw team Talent last season will probably still be top 10 this season quote honestly every player is technically a transfer we just signed a whole class of guys transferring from high school early this preseason with Matt Luke being hired as the offensive line coach and Chris rump being hired as the defensive line coach two coaches who I think upgrade the staff those were coaching additions not subtractions by additions those weren't backfilling hires those were similar hires in my opinion to Garrett Riley replace Brandon streer of of course on a smaller scale but they were improvements they were upgrades that would have been enough 5 years ago when athletes weren't being paid for their name image and likeness and when the transfer portal was more of something for graduates or for Players whose School suffered a scandal and their entire staff was fired like Penn State in Joe Paterno's final year in 2011 or Baylor after the 2016 Scandal all that stuff or for graduates and not what it is now where any player can transfer anywhere an unlimited amount of times as long as it's in a specific window dabos swinny is trying to adapt to a certain degree but within his own box within the confines of really the pre-2020 decade and it's killing Clemson it's killing Clemson their recruiting class look maybe if you're recruiting 30 or more high school players and you have a great nil Collective maybe I can understand why you're not taking any transfers if you're like Georgia you're bringing in bodies you're bringing in talented players and you can pay players and even then Georgia's brought in 10 transfer portal commits Michigan Best developmental program in the country over the past three years the best because they haven't recruited at the same level as Alabama Georgia Ohio State and even Clemson and yet they played on an average basis close to or at the same level or higher than those schools the only school that on average has played at a higher level of the past three seasons than Michigan is Georgia because Georgia's won two national titles and Michigan has won a national title over the previous previous three seasons if they're recruiting 30 players and their staff is the best of the best and they know that for a fact which no one can always know that because things are Ever Changing then I would understand it basically the point I'm trying to make is I don't understand why anyone isn't using the portal because the scenarios in which it would be acceptable to not use the portal are impossible it requires perfect knowledge it requires being just having an allseeing eye again perfect knowledge and a lot of things to go right a lot of axioms and in life there are plenty of exceptions to rules there just are every program has to use the portal they have to either to back Fe backfill to add depth to get gamebreaking players again it's what Miss is doing it's what Ohio state did even though they only got six incoming transfers Caleb DS was a big addition same with Will Howard same with quinon Judkins Trey Amos going to miss Walter Nolan going to miss Colorado bringing in 40 players some of whom are stars others are just depth pieces you get the point USC bringing in Woody marks from Mississippi State I can go on and on and on and name programs who are big small or smack dab in the middle bringing in players who they think can make an impact or players who they just want to add to provide some sense of depth and Clemson isn't abiding by what is the obvious solution to adding depth to gaining impact players at wide receiver and to being a championship Contender I mean ol Miss has not recruited inside the top 10 in high school but by using the portal they might be a national championship Contender this year that is it's it's insane and it's also beautiful to a certain degree but I cannot say enough that there there's no reason to be optimistic with Clemson in regards to them competing for the playoff or competing for the national championship maybe they compete they can compete for the playoff due to the fact that the ACC Champion has an auto bid they will the five highest rated Conference champions unless the ACC is a complete garbage year and maybe a a nine and4 Clemson wins the ACC and somehow there are two undefeated dominant group of VI schools then maybe they get left out but the likelihood of that happening is infanty small it's exponentially small this team could have used along with their coaching staff upgrades which I give dabos swinny and the staff props for that they could have used incoming transfer players they could use with how much their secondary has lost and they have some young players they could have used Jihad Carter coming from Ohio State they could use an Elijah Badger who's in the portal right now I don't know if Jad Carter is still in the portal these are just some spring players that I'm listing they could have used players like that to help at wide receiver to help on defense who lost a ton of talent to the NFL draft they could have targeted some offensive line players maybe they could have broughten a quarterback because Cade kumnick may have a much lower ceiling than his high school recruiting ranking suggested they could have tried out for a running back but alas they didn't not a single incoming transfer again only Air Force Army Clemson and navy those are the only FBS schools to not bring in transfers and Clemson has only brought in 22 high school players from their 2024 recruiting cycle that is tied for the smallest class along with Northwestern and Virginia Tech who also have only 22 incoming high school recruits in the top 100 tied and that's factoring in transfers so Virginia Tech and Northwestern had even smaller High School recruiting classes but they brought in some transfers to make up for the fact that their High School recruiting classes are small and Northwestern they have academic restrictions same with Stanford same with Vanderbilt doesn't matter they're bringing in transfers Virginia Tech why they are in the top 10 of returning production they return more than 80% of their production from last season Clemson is not even top 25 in a returning production and they have a lot of question marks especially for the talent that they have take take a look at this it's not on the screen but take a listen rather Clemson last season they had the 42nd toughest strength of schedule so an above average strength of schedule a below average week strength of schedule for a power five team in a power five conference Clemson was outside the top 50 in scoring offense outside of the top 30 in scoring defense they were N9 and4 four and four in the ACC and according to the simple ranking system they were 20th the 20th best team in the country by most power rankings they were top 25 but certainly not top 10 or top 15 Virginia Tech in Northwestern the schools who were tied with Clemson forevering the smallest incoming overall class for the 2024 cycle they had strength of schedules of 65th and 57th for Virginia Tech and Northwestern respectively they had much worse scoring defenses and Virginia Tech had a similar scoring offense Northwestern scoring offense was outside of the top 100 they were worse teams than Clemson but were they less efficient with the talent that they have absolutely not Clemson last year had the fifth best roster according to the 247 sports team Talent composite meanwhile Northwestern had the 52nd best roster and Virginia Virginia Tech had the 59th best roster and we all know that the the best team in the country is is closer no the best team in the country is further away from the 15th best team in the country then the 15th best team in the country is further away compared to the 30th best team number 15 and number 30 are closer than number 15 and number one in fact in some years number 10 is closer to number 30 than number 10 is to one which is pretty insane but that's just how the distribution of talent and coaching and development is in college football you have that upper echelon typically of three teams and there are some years where maybe you have three goat teams but typically you have one team who has the potential to be a goat team in any given season you have that upper echelon of anywhere from one to three goat teams then next down maybe one to six elite teams and and then and then you go from there like after the top 10 sometimes a little lower there's a significant drop off so Clemson's roster is exponentially like Leaps and Bounds more talented than Northwestern and Virginia Tech and yet Northwestern and Virginia Tech despite playing similar strengths of schedule only had two less wins for Virginia Tech One Less win for Northwestern with infin with with infinitely less talent that is a crime Clemson is no business being compared to Northwestern or Virginia Tech in anything they don't and I'll tell you right now Virginia Tech has great odds of being better than Clemson this year uh for Northwestern I can't say that but I can certainly say that David Brawn is doing a better job trying to win in college football than dbos swinny is and that's very sad Clemson returns just under 70% of their production for 2023 and thankfully they're not below 50% they're not like Michigan or Washington the two participants in last year's national title game but they had a lot more questions and a lot more disadvantages and were far worse last year compared to those two aention teams adding transfers in addition to the staff upgrades could have made Clemson into a national championship Contender if they went out and did what ol miss or Oregon or even if they just did what Ohio state did brought in single digit transfer players but most of them were huge impact players imagine if Clemson got Quinn sha Judkins imagine if they got Caleb DS imagine if they even just you know they added maybe both Julian Fleming and Elijah Badger two wide receivers who aren't Elite but Elijah Badger can be great and Fleming can be great if healthy imagine if they got Amari nblack at tight end or maybe Isaiah Bond at wide receiver think of all the possibilities if Clemson added some of these elite players we'd be talking about him like a top 10 team top 15 team especially with how weak this season probably will be this looks to be a weak year in college football I can already see this year being full of upsets and being a lot like 2021 and a lot like 2007 just total total unhinged chaos but Sweeny's own pride and arrogance has handicapped the Tigers and he's doing what Mark dantonio did at Michigan State and what Bobby Bowen did at Florida State he rose those programs up to unprecedented Heights became Immortal was canonized into the program and now he's going to run Clemson just like those two schools did they ran their programs into the ground deos swiy is going to at worst run this program into the dirt or at best and this is still not a good outcome Clemson will just be mediocre above average maybe every so often they can contend but they won't win a National Championship again unless significant changes are made that's all I wanted to say in this video a little bit longer than I originally expected but I felt like I had to say all that I said um people who are giving Clemson benefit of the doubt on any level I encourage you not to they're not going to be this awful team who has a losing record this year I doubt that I think their staff is too good more importantly they have too much talent and I don't think dbos swinny is some poverty coach but he's certainly stubborn and I don't think he's a top 10 head coach right now in fact I don't even think he's top 15 or top 20 like just right now purely thinking about the present he's not that right now absolutely not thank you all so much for
