make a disappointing way here the season end where do you think it went wrong tonight oh after the first quarter most places in the Ed you know we uh been a pretty good contested side all year at the coace at the stoppage and and away and and the Hawks are just too good in that area tonight so you ask yourself the question how much it is um Hawthorne and how much is US I'd say probably bit of both um do you feel did anything tactically or structurally that made a difference or was it more that they just sort of up the the anti in terms of pressure and you guys fell away uh well around now I don't think they did anything uh any levers were pulled that were unexpected um but the main thing at half time the discussion point was around and um off their intercept game how many uncontested marks and the width we were giving them uh then their transition and movement up the up the ground we had to make an adjustment ourselves we had to take um number away from the stoppage we we needed to um counterbalance all of that um but unfortunately uh you know with about eight or nine minutes to go in the last quarter I think we only had you know 35 or 36 for entries you know and after the amount we had in the first quarter um which wasn't a lot but um you know we picked a knight against a really good side um to not be able to see it through after the first quarter and uh and it told so um yeah it's not not not a great way to finish the year so I mean the Crux of it is your Midfield Group which is a real strong so just it had a pretty bad night yeah we didn't have any great influence through there unfortunately and um you know from from the rocks through to uh through to that Brigade it uh didn't happen for us and uh and so yeah we just couldn't get any consistent territory uh our opportunities inside 50 which were few and far between we um we couldn't keep it there we couldn't get any front end stoppages and uh couldn't get any four half turnover so it was everything that we've been pretty good at you know and you look at the kpis over the year uh they went away from it so again you know how much is that of that is Us and how much of it is Hawthorne will credit to them you know they were they look slick across the ground they put us under enormous pressure we didn't cope with it as well as we uh needed to and um and they Rocky won the game pretty convincingly in the end so you know we're as flat as as uh the proverbial hats as you can imagine um you know we came here tonight um both teams offer well everyone offer a week's break uh feeling like we're ready to get out of the blocks and not a bad start but um yeah the maintenance and of the momentum and the the taking care of the things that uh that have been really strong in our game we just couldn't get it done so yeah all those all those emotions the frustration the disappointment all that sort of stuff it's going to take a little wall was there anything wrong with Marcus physically tonight it felt like in the middle two qus you spent a lot of time off the ground longer than usual no I don't think he did Josh did you feel like he did did you yes have you got back that on that or just felt in in the middle two quarters he was off about 10 or 12 minutes at B point no he only have any well to my mind he he might have got stuck on there for a minute or two longer but um now he was okay I mean and you know he tried to Lift Us in the last quarter he kicks a goal he almost kicks a second and that was the message three quarter time you know we um after all our hard work you know we we could to make a fist to this and we started that last quarter like we could but then we just squandered a couple of uh for forward four Rays where we possibly could have put a little bit more pressure on and the belief that we could have come was still there but um in the end it's a significant gap on the scoreboard and uh and theyd ear it what was the key message out of that meeting you had just them with the players yeah it's difficult to process um a finals loss you know it's uh as you be aware it's our fifth elimination final loss in 10 years uh do a lot of hard work to get there we knew how hard finals are to win when we arrived and some of the boys haven't played a final before and and they definitely know it now um they're coming together after the game was more start of the sort of councelling and the uh the processing of the disappointment and the moving into the future and um making sure we stick together you know and we've we got a strong environment you know we're we're connected spiritually and emotionally um there's a lot of um a lot of care so Now's the Time to make sure that uh we know we get through the disappointment together and uh and have a a resolve as we part say the boys will finish off a lot of the boys will finish off this week a resolve to make sure we look after ourselves and uh and uh start next year you know in the r Vine part of the frustration that like you don't appear to want for much in terms of personnel you know it's a quality list so you can't sort of look at and go oh you know we're deficient here we're deficient there it's just like you know a poor performance but a very costly one given the timing of it so I don't know is that a good thing or a bad thing I mean does it enable you to go back to the well and go we're not far away or do you think it says something about attitude that needs to improve yeah well I think I mean you guys in the media it's a convenience you know around the quality of lists and you know do you really um think hard and look hard and and what are you based it on are you basing on a core group of experienced midfielders you you're you're basing it on um young talented forwards who were who could explode um that's all up to you guys um I talk to them about it I believe it I believe we're capable um but there is a learning curve and you know and it's definitely from a the young forwards point of view and um and and even the experience you know they get they get reminders it's probably the you know the sixth reminder this year that if we don't uh get the cold face done we're we're in a under a bit of pressure uh and so uh so in all of that Rowan um it means that um you know there there are some boys who you know we we love the fact they've come on there's some been some great I thought Lobby was outstanding tonight you know I thought he was exceptional you there's a guy a player of ours who's um who's said real growth in in on his journey at a a pretty mature age thought Joel fras know as a kid was pretty good across half back under the circumstances um so you can always find a couple of positives in a in a in a pretty dim situation uh but as far as far as you know who's talented and and who's got you know a um a healthy list uh yeah we we'll continue to work on it I mean as I've said in the past we've need to shuffle a few around um we'll need to create some more depth through our our utilities and our Midfield ranks uh because of the key position players and rucks that have come into our group over the last four years um we think Ry sand is going to be a really good player for us in the future so there some real promise um but um but yeah I I no one came here tonight um thinking that we'd be strong armed you know in the game and I think in the end Hawthorne strong armed us so do you need more muscle aggression well we've been able to show it you know and so it's it's got to be part of your makeup you know the you don't win these big finals if you um haven't got Integrity in the contest and and you don't deal with pressure well um I think there have been games where we've been pretty good at it so uh to be good at it every week in a in a pretty long year uh it's that's every club's challenge so uh such a big occasion for us to to go down and be you know humbled in that area uh it's uh that that's obviously coming away from the game the the biggest concern coming out of it thanks everyone
