'American Pie' star Jason Biggs spills on Netflix’s Blue Ribbon Baking Championship

who doesn't love a good food competition show I spoke with American Pie star Jason bigs former White House Executive pastry chef Bill yosis and award-winning Baker Brian Ford about Netflix's Blue Ribbon baking Championship where Bakers from Across the Nation compete to win $100,000 take a look Jason I'm going to start with you now I think your last competition game hosting gig was cash at your door just after the pandemic and I know this because I actually work on the YouTube side of that show um Jason I'm going to call you Jason booked and busy big because you've done so much since then what about the Blue Ribbon baking championships sold you and made you kind of like dust off your game show hosting uh shoes wow nicely put thank you very much Cameron I'll take Jason booked and booked in busy bigs I like it that's fantastic um man I needed you years ago uh Cameron to put that out in the world um no I uh yeah for for me look I I'm I'm a big food guy and I love competition shows and uh no one does them better than Netflix and yeah you know there's an obvious connection with me in the baking worlds there's a little bit of a wink at the camera in the audience but the truth is you know I I just I I love this idea and it it brought together these incredible people from around the country um you know the stakes were high so um it was it was intense at times but over overwhelmingly it was a really beautiful set to be on in terms of the energy that the contestants provided the energy that these judges uh gave back to them um it was really fun and I learned a lot too you you you know um you know people look at me generally and think like what more could you possibly learn and um and while I understand that I you know it's uh I was I went into this open what no no I went into this open-minded and uh I took a couple things mostly uh from Brian uh but but yeah also from the contestants not so much from this one from this one now chefo says you are a former White House Executive pastry chef you held the role for seven years under presidents uh Bush and Obama you worked under former Flo Michelle Obama's let's move campaign focusing on eating um healthier and stuff like that replacing butter with fruit C sugar with honey and Agave are you looking for that kind of innovation I mean I saw in the trailers you're literally holding up the pastries and like you're making sure their quality is that the kind of innovation in their baked goods that you're looking for when you're judging um yeah but I wouldn't say that's like I didn't narrow it down to that particular type of baking I think in a show like this you have to be open-minded you have to leave a wide uh field to to play in personally I prefer that kind of baking natural ingredient organic less sugar uh you know less fats more healthy oils nut oils Etc but uh in a show like this um I think you have to widen your range and allow for different kinds of of Bakers and there was a huge range of people on this show and a huge range of creativity so they they made amazing desserts and uh flavor still was my criteria the first criteria and uh we had some really delicious cakes amazing yo Brian yo what up you always start your videos with yo and I love it you have such a great presence on social media and in all of your uh projects um you infuse like your infectious Latin American culture in that um these Bakers are coming from all across the country are you looking for them to infuse their um culture in their dishes as well yeah I mean it's it's you know as a b I think inherently you are going to put in a part of yourself when um that's nope that's what I do no Brian that's my job that was unintentional but as it came out I couldn't help but to laugh um I I'm always looking for Bakers hey easy easy I'm always I'm always looking for Bakers to uh impart some of their their you know Heritage or background or family story within uh what they bake because I think it's just a natural part of being a baker you always want to bake for your friends family your community and most likely you learned from a grandmother mother father or or someone within uh your family so it it's it's kind of a natural thing that happens uh but when we see it come to light in the show it's it's really impressive uh and there was a lot of U there was a lot of excellent baked goods that that showcase people's uh you know backgrounds I always try to put a little part of myself into whatever I bake little being [Music] operative it was so lovely chatting with you guys congratulations watching your own Flagship Bakery P Cafe soon so congratulations on that um I can't wait to watch thanks C much thank you
