I think my first aim was probably to get back into the test side um look it's it's something I guess when I got appointed Vice Captain a year and a half or so ago that there's always a chance that something like this would happen and it's not necessarily something you dream about but it's the the one of the greatest honors I I see in English Cricket so yeah like I said it's an honor to lead the team out for for this series um it's exciting for me and it's a chance for us as a team to sort of try and take a step forward with obviously missing stoky the player and stuff the leader as well but it's a good it's a good challenge for us moving forward um and go back think it's about four years ago um Ben Stokes came in as a standing Captain for Joe rout then and found a note in his locker about being his own person have you had anything similar are you are you your own man here yeah H I think it's look it it still Stokes his team um I think everyone's pretty clear that they um how they want to go about this week and and this series in general um I think having Stokes in the changing room is great that's probably the difference between I've had no message in my locker but I'm I'm sat next to him in the changing room which is uh it's going to be great to have him around if if I want to lean on him then I can lean on him and then I think he's going to let me do my own thing for for the course of this test series as well but yeah it's it's great to have him just to sort of lean on him and I know how well he's he's sort of managed our Bowlers especially um I think um so I've picked his brains a little bit on that moving forward but yeah I think it's a lot of the same messages from from a different voice and in my own way and you mentioned Bowlers Matthew pots coming in what's the thinking there as far as bringing in a sea rather than another batter for example yeah I think I think firstly obviously we've got guys who can come in and score runs down the order we've obviously got pot scored a first class 100 this year obviously gon Wiz a wizer Wy sorry more more than capable with a bat so I think the balance of the team over the course of a three match series we having three seers is isn't always the easiest ask so it's a great opportunity to see potsy he's eared his spot on the side he's um whenever he's pulled on England shirt he's he's not he's not let anyone down and he's bowled his heart out and B beautifully as well so it's a great opportunity for him coming in um and NASA Hussein has written I'm quoting NASA here rather than from me has written in his column that you've got three games to find out what kind of Captain got you are and who you want to be do you already know who that person is ah look I think I it's not over complicating it for me um I think I've read the game fairly well um and a lot of the time stoky and myself being his Vice Captain have been sort of with the with the same mindset so yeah it's I as as the series goes on it'll sort of lay itself out for me and I've spoken to the guys already and like I said it's his team and I'm just looking for looking forward to sort of hopefully taking us forward and getting you getting sort of aware playing without him like I said they allrounder as well as as as a leader so yeah it's a great chance for us
