Jones, Bethel-Thompson put on show in Elks' win over Stampeders

alongside Davis Sanchez Matt dunigan Milt steagle and what a weekend in the CFL it was once again Labor Day weekend does not disappoint we've been across the country and back and of course ending here in Hamilton it's all quiet now but our first game of the day this place was absolutely rocking and Maddie that is because the Hamilton Tiger Cats they finally got a win after that four game slide and let me tell you Bo Levi Mitchell he loves playing on Labor Day he's a perfect seven and0 and he was great in this one isn't that crazy number and the fact that he hadn't started one of these since 2019 and to go out here and ignite this crowd when he needed to uh when this the soon do or die you can't go to three uh 2 and 10 so they moved to three and N it's because of Bo and Tim White and he was dialed in in the Deep ball like old B and he dialed it back and he was in every moment every he he he was a conduit for for the energy in this at Tim Horton's field and his favorite Target of course was Tim White what I liked was Bo right in this late of the first half he checked it down they kicked the field goal and that ended up being the deciding points but you saw him take pulled up ball down a couple times two carries for 25 yards that's insane numbers for bivi Mitchell at this stage of his career because he just doesn't do that it was just a phenomenal effort from their leader and and and the and the crowd was absolutely on fire because of it yeah the leader and the crowd you said it in KB you mentioned the energy in the this place today was special it awesome and you know that's why football is such a great spectator sport it's because fans can resonate with this physicality they can feel the passion and it was it's not always at this level it's always physical and football because you got to come and bring it every day when you play this game but it was extra special today and it's it's easy for us to look at the changes the tiat but this a 2 and9 was a two-9 football team going into the day but if you don't play best football you could lose to anybody it's easy for us to look at the change they made bringing in Chris Jones as a defensive coordinator as the big change of why why why they played better football today but I really think it was the pass not to take away anything Chris Jones did because he's a smart football man but the passion that this team had the physicality they play with to me that was the biggest thing and it was all about these teams at the bottom of their division trying to work their way uh first it was the Hamilton Tiger Cats and then it was the Edmonton Elks and it was funny because before this game we said okay we know Beth Thompson's the starter but Trey Ford's right there what's MBT going to do well MBT had a career day melt yeah he showed out he showed out and it's a luxury having a quarterback like M be Thompson uh at Your Arsenal because he's able to do big things and we know that this man led the the Toronto organiz to a great Cup Championship a few years back he was having a good year this year yes they were struggling as a team but he was putting up some good numbers and when they put in Trey forward they kept it going and Trey forward got hurt and he stepped in and he's done a great job so McLoud Beth Thompson deserves a lot of credit he didn't cry he didn't pout yes he wanted to be the starter but he understood that they needed to make a change and when he got his opportunity to shine again he did just that when you go out and you throw for almost 500 yards and three touchdowns you deserve to start again I'm not saying Trey Ford is in their future but when it comes next week mlau bethl Thompson needs to be their starting quarterback in my opinion I don't know about you guys but I'm kind of sad when Labor Day weekend is over because it's such an exciting weekend the crowds are amazing the fans are all into it but at the same time as they always say this is when the real season begins and there's still a lot of football to be played in the CFL as we send it back to Sports Center
