BURNING QUESTIONS: NOW or NEVER for Ryan Day at Ohio State?! | Get Up

Does the show go on without Nick Saban at Alabama Burns for some SEC burning questions who better to discuss this with and Peter made the trip for us and we talked about it a second ago with Nick Sav out kayin deor in Barry's burning question number one does the show go on without Nick Sabin at Alabama it's going to be so weird at media days not seeing them there right he's the Godfather of the SEC him not being there I'll tell you this it's going to look the same for Alabama fans for the first three weeks you know who they got week four Harry they got Georgia coming into TUS L and Hell have no fury like a Georgia football team in Kirby Smart that has scorned right now because they know that Nick sav's been that hurdled over the last couple years but I will say this as tough as it's going to be for Alabama to replace Nick sa I think they were in a better spot cuz Nick Savin was there the guy that coached college football 2.0 before the transfer portal before nil I don't think he'd like to play that game kin dor here is ready for that transition Alabama's actually going to be in a better spot going forward and I love Kaylin dbor what he's what he has been able to do at Washington in 2 years uh bringing him to a national Powerhouse he's coming to Alabama and I think what's important for him is to put your own twang on things I think what a lot of coaches mess up when they're replacing Legends is trying to do so so so much of what the last coach did put your own twing on it get those guys to buy into your culture and do things your way I would say with respect to Nick sa what you said about him replaced a legend you never want to be the guy that replaces the legend but because it's a different era in college football true what the legend built necessarily isn't the playing field that everybody else is on now in the sport think about what he did with Michael penck over at Washington if he could do the same thing with Jaylen milrose Sky's a limit for that I think it's important to know that they have the quarterback so you have the most important piece at Alabama you you can try to make everything else fit all right burning question number two Harry I'll go with you on this one can Texas win the SEC in its first season in Can Texas win the SEC the league I know a lot of people down south doesn't want don't want to hear this but yes they can are you saying Texas is back Texas is back baby let me throw up my horns and what's what's great about them is that they're too running back deep they're too quarterback deep they're returning four starting offense of lineman but Steve sarkeesian is that dude as a play caller they lost three of their top receivers they replace them with three transfers defensively I think we're going to see some of those young guys who made a splash last year be more of a a major role in what they do on the defensive side of the ball I like Andrew makuba coming over from Clemson in their secondary at the safy position so I really like Texas I think it's going to be Georgia and Texas in the champ they got a kid named Ryan Wingo who's going to be an incredible freshman I just I was there in Spring I looked at them the way that they get off the bus is exactly like those Nick Sav teams in the mid 1020s and the same way that they looked at Georgia over the last couple years Sark knows the league they're in good shape I'm going give you a name Silas Balden transfer Oregon State on the Texas offense what sark's going to do with him is going to be something to behold not about the side of the dog he about to loaded at Texas all right burning question number three Peter I'm going back to you y we know it's a Georgia League it's a Georgia dominance League who will join Georgia from the SEC and the college football player all right so I got eight teams no I'm just joking it ain't going to be that but it might be three or four coming up this year and we've seen that in the past I think Texas is going to be one of those teams Old Miss of course LSU if they get by USC but this is a team that I'm looking into right now is the Missouri Tigers they're coming off out of 11 win season and Harry you talking about what Eli drinko did the same thing that lane kein said hey this is our time they've got the easiest schedule in the SEC they're going to be an FBI favorite in 11 of the 12 and that 12th game is an Alabama team that we got question marks Luther bton the third going to win the bullet C this guy is a real deal yeah I like Missouri now the only concerns I have they lost a lot of you know guys on defense how they going to be able to replace those guys but I think with an easier schedule it allows you to you know be able to get over that hump a little bit more so to be clear right here right now get up on what is it July 12 I'm going to clip this off it's going to live in perpetuity how many teams from the SEC make the playoff this this is the vote four or five oh f f that's the ACC guy that's saying I just want to make sure we clip that to the ACC guy is saying five I'm not going to go that that far I think it is four that'll help the SEC bias narrative we're going to run that all now he's the head coach Barry's burning question number one does the show go on without Jim M yeah the show goes on it's not going to be a blockbuster it's going to be a flop I mean you know who's not walking through that door JJ McCarthy's not walking through that door you know who's not walking through that door 12 other NFL draft picks that are going to play in on Sunday you know who's not walking on that door Conor stallions he actually might be in disguise right there but that all of that has changed and you go back and look Harry you start looking at this uh this schedule right now Ohio State okay they're not as good as Ohio state they're not as good as Oregon they're going to get thumped by Texas when the Longhorns go up there in week two this is likely a four lost team for Michigan up there in the big out I think the most important piece too is the quarterback position Alex orgy is he going to be the guy from Michigan to be able to you know step up to the plate JJ McCarthy is hard to replace a guy that lost one game as a starter this is a defended National Champion but like you mentioned they have a ton of guys that they lost to the National Football League so Chiron Moore H how's he going to be able to you know continue to build these guys and count on the young players to step up in the places that they lost these veteran guys they they need Damen Woody on that offensive line they lost four of their Five Guys on offensive line and that's why they were thumping people well that's that's their identity as well right physicality anding their they want to win the joeore award every single year FR look this is not an indictment on Chiron Moore who's going to be a really really good coach which who did a great job when he had to replace har as well but he was also he was also on cruise control as well too they didn't let JJ McCarthy throw more than like three passes those games like get bad at Chiron Mo the most pH physical than any other team he's got Donovan Edwards coming back that's going that'll work out if you're into those great game-changing running backs yeah look they ran they didn't throw a pass in a second half they have to they run the ball all right so on the complete opposite end of this spectrum with the talent that exited Now or Never Michigan Ohio State is as loaded as any team of the country Barry's burning question number two Peter Burns is it now or never for Ryan day and that means win a National Championship pass or fail right I mean that's the only thing it's thumbs up thumbs down it's Russell crow in the Gladiator when they look at him right you spend $10 million in nil and probably even more than that those guys that that spent that money Harry they want to return on their investment and right now there's a reason why Chip Kelly at one point says oh you know what I'm a head coach of UCLA I think I'll be an offensive coordinator and might hang around here in Columbus just in case Ryan day doesn't get this thing done and doesn't end up beating Michigan and doesn't win a National so to keep your movie pars going you're saying like the the Yoda is going to take down the Jedi I mean I mean cuz you've been going movies all morning uh for you now or never for for Ryan Day who's got the best team I think in the country in terms of talent the bom 100% and you can't lose to the team in Michigan in which you lost to the last few years I'm I'm excited to see Jeremiah Smith right we we talk about Ohio State and all these phenomenal wide receivers and yes they have two great backs maybe the best tandem in college football but I want to see what what Jeremiah Smith is going to be able to do the phenomenal freshman that they have to watch Quon jins too they Old Miss with Tron Henderson calebs defensively it's now or never like you don't win this it's like the Dodgers are it's like you don't want to be the Mets where you spend all that money and all of a sudden you end up being a disaster and a dumpster fight if I may you would you just like to play a little either or with this one and using Ryan day as the jumping off one who's under more pressure this year Ryan day with what he has to do at Ohio State or kin dor with what he has to inherit with what Nick Sabin I mean there's no doubt that Ryan day is under the most pressure of any coach in college football and I might say even any coach in in football you know NFL as well as well along with Mike McCarthy but that's I mean swallows were return into Capistrano there but yet day has to win this dor I think he goes into a conference in the SEC now with Texas and Oklahoma is going to be a little bit tougher there will be a learning curve I think they still lose three games this year at Alabama but you cannot lose two games at Ohio State with this roster by the way we said it last we're going to do a similar quest to what we did in the SEC because I think we had five you went four or five you basically win all right and how many playoff teams will make it from the sec I'm going to give you the same berries burning question for Ohio State we believe they are a college College Football Playoff football playoff team they should be which Big 10 school or School wolves will join Ohio State in the college football I mean Dan Landing there's a reason why that he said hey lock me into Oregon right I mean that's going to be one of those teams he's got that opportunity the question is about what's going to go on with Lincoln Riley over at USC that why that opener against LSU is so big coming up on that Sunday night in Las Vegas I don't know I like does Iowa have a pulse on offense I don't I think so no um you know does USC play any defense I don't think so I think the physicality is going to get USC as well well it's so Penn State I mean I I feel like the the top two teams in the SEC and the Big 10 now are pretty much a lock for the college football playoff I so you're going to get at least to the question is who's going to be that third team I think it's Ohio State I think it's Oregon Penn State might be that Squad I have Penn State as well mhm look Penn State I agree with Mr Burns and I'm not talking about from The Simpsons yeah but here's the thing with Penn State in the in the 12 team college football playoff it's almost like the 12 team college football playoff was created for for them for Penn State they go 10 and two every year they lose to Ohio State they lose to Michigan 10 and2 Penn State this year gets in the college football but they also beat up on a really weak Big 10 over the last decade right I mean you go back and look Illinois Indiana ruter I mean now they got come on how dare you talk about the Big 10 with such facial disdain there is a disdain right there been awful it's been awful right but then now you get some big boys that are going to show up right Lincoln Riley's offense you get it you get right now you're going to end up having Oregon which I think is just as talented in that upper tier so it's a new world in this college football playoff we're on the cus with the greatest season we've had in 20 [Music] years so I can Brea so
