>> HEY, GOOD MORNING. HAS TIME TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL YEAR. THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII WHERE THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS ARE MOVING BACK INTO THEIR DORMS TODAY. SO WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC. BUT ACTUALLY THEY'VE BEEN DOING SET A NEW PROCESS THAT THEY STARTED LAST YEAR WHERE YOU ACTUALLY ENTER INTO LOWER CAMPUS ROAD, GOING TO THE PARKING LOT AND THEN BELL COMEDY TO EXTEND SHERIFF BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY GO UP TO THE DORMS. SO IT'S BEEN A LOT MORE STREAMLINED. SO GET READY FOR THAT. BUT ALSO GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL, THE UH FOOTBALL TEAM IS GETTING FOR THE FIRST GAME THIS WEEKEND AGAINST DELAWARE STATE. HERE TO TELL US MORE IS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA CRAIG ANGELES. GOOD MORNING TO YOU, CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN ON GETTING ATHLETIC DIRECTOR POSITION. ALL THOSE THINGS BEEN GOING WITH A NEW 10 IT'S BEEN A GOOD YEAR. YEAH. I'VE LEARNED A LOT OF NEW THINGS. I'M SEEING A LOT OF >> GREAT THINGS HAPPENING AT THE UNIVERSITY. WHY ARE WE HAVE A GREAT NUCLEUS OF EMPLOYEES OF TEAMS? I MEAN, OUR TEAMS WON 6 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS LAST YEAR. NOT NOT HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH ME, BUT >> BUT THAT THEY START OFF STRONG. SO WE'VE GOT A GREAT PROGRAM. I'M LEARNING A LOT AND REALLY DIVING INTO THINGS. SO IT'S BEEN GREAT. YES, AND THIS WEEKEND, WE'RE DIVING INTO SOME FOOTBALL. TELL ME ABOUT THIS UPCOMING GAME. SOME TIPS FOR A 10 DAY AS WELL THE COMPETITION. >> WELL, WE'RE PLAYING DELAWARE STATE THIS WEEK AS R FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON. THEY HAD A HARD TIME GETTING ON THE PLANE. APPARENTLY AS WE READ IN THE PAPER YESTERDAY. BUT THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY OUT HERE EVEN AS WE SPEAK. SO WE WILL HAVE A GAME, BUT WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT IT. IT'S IT'S IT'S ONE OF THOSE GAMES THAT MAY NOT DIFFICULT AS AS UCLA NEXT WEEK. SO HOPEFULLY WE CAN DO VERY WELL THIS YEAR THIS WEEK. TUNE UP FOR YOU SAY NEXT WEEK. SO WE'VE GOT 2, 2, GREAT GAMES COMING UP. BUT LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING ALL THE FANS COME OUT, WE'RE HOPING TO SELL OUT THIS YEAR AT LEAST THE UCLA GAME FOR SURE. BUT A LOT OF GOOD THINGS HAPPEN. OUR TEAM SEEMS TO BE MUCH BETTER FROM WHAT I'M HEARING FROM TIMMY. OUR SCHEDULE IS A LITTLE BIT MORE MANAGEABLE THAN IT HAS BEEN IN THE PAST. YOU KNOW, WE'RE DOING SOME NEW THINGS LIKE CHARTERING OUR FLIGHTS. THIS YEAR'S ART TEAMS DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE HIS EARLY HAVE COME BACK AS LATE ON THE WAY GAMES AND THINGS TRYING TO FIND SOME WAYS TO TO TO TO PUT THEM IN A BETTER POSITION TO WIN. THAT'S GREAT. AND ALSO I HEARD ABOUT THE NEW NIL STORY WHICH WOULD BE GOOD BENEFICIAL FOR OUR. >> STUDENT ATHLETES. TELL ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YEAH, THE WHOLE AND I ALL SPACES PEOPLE BEEN READING ABOUT, I MEAN, IT'S REALLY CHANGED COLLEGE FOOTBALL FOREVER BECAUSE NOW ITS TUNE OUT, THESE CAN CAPITALIZE ON THEIR NAME IMAGE AND LIKENESS AND SO THEY CAN >> GO OUT AND ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY DOING THIS KIND OF THING. AND SO IT'S ALMOST A SIDE HUSTLE I OR JOB FOR MANY OF THEM. AND IT'S TURNED INTO WHAT THEY CALL COLLECTIVES. NOW, EVERY SCHOOL HAS A COLLECTIVE DONORS DONATE MONEY TO THE OUTSIDE INTO A COLLECTIVE. WE HAVE OUR COLLECTIVE CALLED THE RAINBOW COLLECTIVE. BUT NOW IT'S ALMOST LIKE PAY FOR PLAY NOW BECAUSE IF THE BIGGER SCHOOLS HAVE BIGGER COLLECTIVES IN SCHOOLS LIKE US MAYBE IS NOT AS MUCH. I MEAN, THE SCHOOLS IN THE SEC, IF YOU READ THEY'RE WHAT THEY'RE DOING, 12 TO 15 MILLION DOLLARS IS WITH OUR FOOTBALL PROGRAM ALONE. SO IT'S ALMOST LIKE A SALARY CAP PROFESSIONAL MODEL THAT WE'VE GOT GOING NOW. AND OF COURSE, NOW PEOPLE CAN TRANSFER ALL THE TIME TOO. SO IT SOUNDS LIKE A FREE AGENT MARKET TO GO TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER. SO IT'S JUST CHANGED THE GAME COMPLETELY, OK? SO AND LET'S GO SUPPORT OUR STUDENT ATHLETES ALIKE AND MORE COME TO A UNIVERSITY POINT. CRAIG, THANK YOU SO MUCH. EVERYTHING YOU GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND. I THINK YOU CREATE YES, I'LL GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL AS WELL AS MOVING IN. SO JUST WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC AS THEY COME IN. BUT THIS NEW PROCESS HAS BEEN STREAMLINED THINGS A LOT BETTER. ALSO MORE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE. KHON 2 DOT COMS. KRISTEN CHINA
