FAR FROM THE ISLANDS. JILL, OVER TO YOU. ALL RIGHT. THANKS SO MUCH, JUSTIN. >> WELL, ANTICIPATION OF HOLIDAY FLIGHTS OUT OF HILO BEEN CANCELED FOR THE NIGHT. NIKKI SCHENFELD HAS BEEN ON HAWAII ISLAND ALL DAY AND SPOKE TO COUNTY OFFICIALS AND JOINS US LIVE NOW WITH MORE. HEY, MICKEY. >> GOOD EVENING, JILL. YEAH, THE WEATHER HAS GOTTEN CONSIDERABLY WORSE SINCE THE LAST HOUR WHEN A STOP TO AROUND 9 O'CLOCK. HERE'S PONDING ON THE GROUND. THAT IS ABOUT 10 TIMES A BIGGER THAN WHAT IT WAS JUST AROUND. 9 O'CLOCK. THE WIND HAS INCREASED SUBSTANTIALLY AND THAT RAIN JUST KEEPS COMING DOWN. THANKFULLY, NOTHING SEVERE HAS BEEN REPORTED JUST YET, BUT OFFICIALS ARE AT THE EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER MONITORING EVERYTHING THAT IS TAKING PLACE. >> AS TROPICAL STORM BONNIE APPROACHED FOR HAWAII ISLAND FLIGHTS WERE CANCELED IN AND OUT CHEMO. >> WE'VE BEEN HERE FOR WEEKS TO EXTEND ALONG. EXCITED. IT'S GONE. AND FIGHT ACCOUNT ON THOUGH. >> 3 O'CLOCK TO OAHU AND THEN PLAY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE TRYING TO LEAVE FOLLOWING THE WORLD SPRINTS, WHICH WRAPPED UP ON FRIDAY. WE CAN EITHER WAIT TILL MONDAY OR WE CAN GO TO COURT AND FILED TODAY, POSSIBLY. >> BY 05:00PM, ALL FLIGHTS IN AND OUT OF HILO WERE CANCELED. BIG ISLAND RESIDENTS, NO STRANGER TO STORMS, BUT TAKING PRECAUTIONS IN FLOOD-PRONE AREAS WHERE PREPARING FOR HEAVY RAIN, FLASH FLOODING. >> 2 TODAY TONIGHT AND TOMORROW. SO JUST GETTING SANDBAGS OUT AND MINING INSURANCE. THE DOORWAY ALSO IN THE BACK. FOR SOME POTENTIAL FLOODING IN THE SHOP. >> STORES WERE ABLE TO STAY OPEN UNTIL NORMAL HOURS, BUT IT COULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY TOMORROW. >> AS HEAVY RAINS ARE ANTICIPATED THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT AND THEY'RE SEEING THAT WHAT THE FORECAST IS WHATS ACTUALLY COMING TO FRUITION IS LITTLE BIT MORE THAN WHAT? >> AN IRONY. I GUESS. YOU KNOW, THAT'S NOT MAKING US MORE HAPPY, BUT THOSE MISSIONS OF THE END. BUT STILL WITHIN THE REINS AT THE FORECAST. SO WE'LL WE'LL WE'LL DEAL WITH IT. >> HOPEFULLY EVERYBODY'S MULTIPLE AGENCIES HAVE BEEN AT THE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER IN HILO ALL DAY MONITORING POWER OUTAGES, ROAD CLOSURES AND MORE. DONE ALL THE PREPARATION WE CAN AND WE'RE GOING TO HOPEFULLY, YOU KNOW, WE'LL RESPOND ACCORDINGLY. >> WE'RE HOPING THAT THE PUBLIC HAS ALSO HE DID ARE MESSAGING IS HUNKER DOWN. WE OPEN OUR SHELTERS CLOSE PLACES THAT ARE VULNERABLE. WE'VE HAD TO CLOSE SOME BEACH PARKS, ACTUALLY ALL THE BEACH PARKS FROM JOLLA WAY, ALL THE WAY TO WINNING 10 IN CA HEISER, 5 AND LOT OF THINGS LIKE THAT. WE CANCELED BUS ROUTES. IT'S GOING TO GET MORE FREQUENT AND SO ASKING PEOPLE PROBABLY GOOD IDEA TO HUNKER IN TONIGHT. IF YOU I AREN'T PREPARED FOR POWER OUTAGES MAY BE PREPARED, GET SOME CANDLES AND THINGS LIKE THAT. >> AND HAWAII, CIVIL DEFENSE ANTICIPATES ABOUT A FOOT OF RAIN TO FALL. WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE BY THE TIME WHEN PASSES THE WINDWARD SIDE OF THE BIG ISLAND AGAIN, ROAD CLOSURES CAN OCCUR WITHOUT ANY WARNING. SO THEY REALLY WANT PEOPLE TO STAY OFF THE ROAD, ESPECIALLY IN THESE CONDITIONS BECAUSE IT IS GETTING MUCH WORSE AND IS EXPECTED TO GET WORSE OVERNIGHT AND THE HELI ON BUS SERVICE HAS ALSO CANCELED ROUTES FOR TOMORROW. CERTAIN ROUTES. SO MAKE SURE YOU CHECK IN ON THAT. AND THE DOT EXCUSE ME IS ALSO ASKING PEOPLE TO CHECK IN WITH THEIR AIRLINES IF THEY DO PLAN ON COMING TO HILO OR PLAN ON LEAVING HILO TOMORROW. AND WE'LL BRING YOU THE LATEST AS EVERYTHING DEVELOPS OVERNIGHT. TOMORROW.
