The Most UNDERRATED Signings Of The Summer! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Intro hello and welcome back to the lowdown dropping on a Thursday this week because of transfer deadline day today we are talking about the most underrated signings completed this window coming up on today's show we talk about the man united signing that has crept under the radar it already feels like ten hog is going to be over alant on him this season or is going to need him desperately to stay fit this season Arsenal's best bit of business those two working sort of as a pivot coming forward going backwards the amount of jewels they're going to win the amount of ground they're going to cover the Excellence on the ball and the Chelsea signing that deserves a lot more respect I have been impressed in what I've seen from him so far like his weight of passes really good his decision- making when running at top speed is is really solid as well yes hello welcome back to the lowdown everybody great to be joined by Michael mccubbin and Joe Tomlinson once again how are you doing Jens Mike are you okay yeah I'm good thanks DS all good thanks how are you looking smart all T color on Joe yourself your yeah looking forward to the end of the transfer window man so we can actually talk about some football rather than some transfers but we are talking about them yet again today it has been crazy it has been crazy it's set to be a frantic final 24 hours of the window today we are discussing the best signings that no one is talking about does that sort of signing exist that's another question but we are we are going for the more underrated signings what we're going to do is there's four rounds there's actually five rounds but four rounds we each take it in turns suggest four Premier League signings each and we decide at the end of each round who wins the point at the end we'll total up who is the winner and then we're going to do one Euro pick at the end of the episode Mikel Merino Joe I'll give you the honors you've been sporting director in the last few weeks who would you like to suggest as your first underrated signing all right let's start fresh I think let's start with a player who's just moved this week who I think has gone for an absolutely fantastic fee and adds loads their team and that's Mikel Mourinho I think Mikel Marino's moved to Arsenal is flown under the radar given their need for a central midfielder I think party started the season okay but geino I'm not sure whether he is the physical profile required for a Mel Etta team right now we see the direction of travel is quite large individuals isn't it that win their Jews win their 1 V one battles and technically superior to the opposition and it has to be said Mikel Mourinho fits almost perfectly into that role I think one of the most jewels of any player in La Liga last year quite an experienced operator as well he's not a player that's going to come in need time to bet into the league he has played in the Premier League in the past not a great deal but somewhat he's 28 years old now and he's a bit of a leader coming into this Arsenal side so I'm pretty excited to see him sitting alongside Declan rice I think those two working sort of as a pivot coming forward going backwards the amount of Jews they're going to win the amount of ground they're going to cover the Excellence on the ball You Know M Maro also can contribute in the final third season before last I think it was 11 goal involvements last year nine goal involvements in in La Liga so don't just expect him to be this out and out six I think he's going to operate all over the pitch cover massive amounts of ground and I do think it's an upgrade on Thomas parte for 30 million Euros which is not easy to find because he was coming into the last year of his contract it is a good pitch to kick us off I think it's a really impressive signing Mikey you're going to have to need a big player to match that yeah it's a difficult one isn't it oh I don't know who to pick out of my uh I'll go for yeah I'll go for another relatively big hit I think Mel marinho yet amazing signing for Arsenal um and add so much depth to that Midfield I do expect him to start eventually in in that Arsenal Midfield as well also in terms of like marketing I think that those images of him in the Aral kit ridiculous especially given that you know like we were all we're all around the same age as him so we were all wearing those kind of 2004 2005 kits and pretending to be you know professionals at the time it did strike a cord and yeah just pretty amazing that you know a play I think I think you know that Arsenal kit is the only non kind of s dad kit that he had or La Liga kit that he had um so pretty Noussair Mazraoui mad um to be able to get that nevertheless I think this signing in some ways I think is more important in the short term and has proved himself to be an incredibly important signing already and in terms of a signing that's gone you know has been a bit underrated I think new sem as Rowe to Man United nice um has been so far and its early days a really really solid move you know lots of talk about United's transfer W especially after the agat move being the window that you know means that ten hog you know really has this year to prove himself now he's been backed massively by the new ownership at United and you know big money moves for yoro dect Ugarte Zerg less of a big money move but still a very important move mazra you know has been a little bit of a footnote in in you know across the summer in terms of this uh in terms of United's transfer business and you can kind of see why because he comes into United you know as an injury-prone fullback which is you know not what United really needed but nevertheless you know a player who played his best play the best football of his career under tenh haret AXS but you know had only uh played 20 plus League games or only started 20 plus League games in a season once since that 201819 season so there were worries about mazeri coming into this side obviously and but it but basically it already feels like ten hog is going to be over alant on him this season or is going to need him desperately to stay fit this season because we've already seen you know Luke Shaw have to pull out of the the first weeks of the season with injury dallow covering for him at left back but mazra has been great at right back they got that assist for Amad dialo on the weekend against Brighton I that was a great ball into him in terms of his tackle interception numbers he's already averaging over four per 90 his Progressive pass numbers are also great I think Bruno Leandro and Maguire um are making more than him so he already looks like an upgrade in that position and United I know they lost against Brighton on the weekend but they just they do look like a more cohesive unit already this season and that's without bringing in a number six or without a GTE starting yet mazra I think has has made a massive difference and of all the signings that United have made this summer he's the only one who started a game I think his ability to to come into this side and instantly make an impact I think has gone under the radar a little bit because United's early season form I it's only been two days two games has been relatively indifferent but I think he has been a real standout it's a good pitch as well it's a good pitch as wellig HS come ined pressure I'm a little bit you know I'll play one of my bigger cards maybe a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall bit later I don't want to disrespect this player but he hasn't played a massive role so far he's only played 38 League minutes so far that's K and dubury Hall look competition in Chelsea's Midfield is going to be fierce this year you know gallaga departing but there's still Enzo Fernandez who it feels like is at a little bit of a Tipping Point in terms of his Chelsea Career there's some people that maybe running out of patience a little bit with him but Moises kaiso started the season pretty well Romeo Lavia was obviously excellent in their opening game against Man City further forward he'll have to compete with Cole Palmer Christopher and kungu look it's going to be really really difficult but if they get through against sevette in the conference league tonight I think that's where a lot of minutes will be played and I have been impressed in what I've seen from him so far like his weight of pass is really good his decision- making when running at top speed is is really solid as well and you look at his performances last year he has Premier League experience but that's not where I'm going to go to I'm going to go to what he did in the championship you know 12 goals 14 assists in the championship only four players contributed more goals he arrives full of confidence yes he's had to start on the bench so far but he knows barca's system inside out and Chelsea need more goals from Midfield as well you know Gallagher five goals in seven assists in the League last year Raheem Sterling was their third top scorer it looks like he's leaving as well is Cole Palmer going to be able to replicate 22 goals and 11 assists you know he's got off to a great start but those were huge numbers and Nicholas Jackson 14 goals last year will he get the same amount of minutes if they do end up signing a striker I think having a goal scorer in Midfield could be really crucial for Chelsea admittedly I don't think he's going to win the opening round on this one though so between us I'm tempted by Mel Mourinho to be honest mcin the only thing I'd say with Marino is he hasn't played yet and we're yet to see if he's underrated as much I feel like there was a lot of chat about him he's under the radar I think he's under the radar he's a big signing I think for Arsenal uh I'm happy to concede I'm happy to concede Marino we goo I do I do really like that signing I think you know if if if Mourinho means that Arsenal win the League this year then I think it's going to be it's hard to argue with and and he is you know Arsenal are kind of expecting him to to you know upgrade that Midfield that's definitely my biggest suggestion not got as big a suggestions as M well round one is done one point to Joe why don't you kick off this round and then maybe I'll respond next okay I'm going to suggest a player that I definitely think has started the season brilliantly despite the fact his team have not you know this Tim Iroegbunam is an Everton player who is part of a pretty dysfunctional unit right now given the results against Tottenham um the result against Brighton obviously they won midweek against donc cter in which he scored and that is Tim rean who I think has started the season really really impressively in the heart of that Everton Midfield and it's not even necessarily a signing I thought I would immediately see have an impact it felt like a PSR related move so teams could help each other out but it's actually come out as a big sort of positive win for Everton he's a player who's immediately come into this side he's putting up some of the best jeel numbers of any player in Europe's top five leagues right now I think he is top for most Jewels one in Europe's top seven leagues he's also a great Ball Carrier he scored against donc Casta last night and with the exit of amadu oana during the summer to Aston Villa I think there was a big hole in the middle of that Everton Midfield and there's certainly potentially still another player needed to be added alongside him or old mangala at the moment is being yeah there is and you know feels like that's quite a big fee being talked about doesn't it 40 million euros but I would imagine he comes in you know to play alongside ranham I don't think he's going to come in there and out ranham who looks like one of the stars of that side already and he's only 21 years old as well so I think overall given the impact he's had on this side I'm going to include him as a player who is almost totally under the radar nobody was talking about that move being a fantastic transfer when it happened yeah I I think even earlier in the summer it was a move that did it did jump off the page a little bit bit to me just because of how highly rated he was from his you know his his game time in the championship but at the time yet it did seem to get swallowed up in all the kind of PSR talk when actually it's not only the fact that he he is a very highly rated young midfielder it's the fact that it was really cheap a really really cheap fee m p yeah like I think I think that is a real steal for an Everton side who you know cannot spend much and haven't been able to spend much for a long time uh so I do really like that dues why don't you take it for me this time well the king is back elai gundan back at Man City dropping a big hit this underrated man everybody says Ilkay Gundogan this is the best movie of the summer didn't they I think in terms of I think in terms of the darl it shifts in terms of the Premier League title race I don't think people have maybe given it the credit it deserves for me look everyone knows what gundan achieved at Man City first time round don't need to go over that but I think it is worth diving in a little bit at how a season at Barcelona went because I don't think he expected to play as much as he did but it was over 2,900 League minutes that was the most of his entire career five goals and 14 assists in 51 games really really impressive nine assists in La Liga his most ever assists in a league campaign that was only Ted by Alex bayena Nico Williams Iago aspas and Savio his new teammate at Man City and he popped up with goals in big games too as he's been doing his entire career scored against Real Madrid Herona Villa Royale provided assists against Sevilla r sidad as well and actually his numbers under the hood were absolutely remarkable he was creating over three chances by 90 despite playing that amount of football and his expected goals and expected assists by 90 was at 0.54 now Phil foden who won PFA player of the year was at 0.61 so it does go to show just how special gundan season at Barcelona was and actually you look at the fact that he can cover for rodri a bit in that six role it's obviously not ideal and the fact he can pop up with goals from Midfield as well it's not kovic's natural game despite that goal against Chelsea earlier this season and I think this is a potential Game Changer in the Premier League title race you know small decisions small moments can have huge effects I remember in 201920 L Roan got injured that felt like a huge shift to Liverpool in that title race and Liverpool had to go 27 games unbeaten I think it was at the start of that season to rack up that lead that couldn't be couldn't be beaten and yes Arsenal has strengthened well across the board but this is Shifting me slightly towards the favor of man city now in this title race having been very firmly in the Arsenal Camp prior to this so I think it's a huge move and would be a worthy winner of this round I think it's a huge move but Mikey I don't know if you agree with me I just struggle to see that as underrated I feel similarly with the Marino crazy about I see I seem well to you arguing for I'm the only one who stay consistent here I don't think Mourinho is that underrated I also don't think GW is that underrated in some ways I guess what counts in gan's favor here is the fact that it is a free transfer it's very opportunistic from City that's one thing I'll say this is not a move that City I don't think saw coming in June I think it's you know let's just you know let's get the band back together like it makes a lot of sense if he's if he's available obviously you get him in especially if it's Pep's last season like you can do with having you know someone you know you know one of the original you know 100 what they called the formidableness that was in 2019 um so I'm going this is a bit of an outside shout but it's a bit more in the vibe of the Egan move um I also think Archie Gray you know a much bigger fee but I think he's kind of been overshadowed like this was a movie that was being talked about a lot earlier in the summer especially the fact that they you know hijacked brentford's move for him it's Archie greater Spurs and he hasn't played much minutes yet in the Premier League I think everyone in the last few weeks especially has kind of been like tempering expectations a bit because he is still so so young you know he was still uh you know not even um in the the same dressing room as the senior side at leads until I think Midway through last year um he had to turn 18 before that you know and yet he was I think racked up the fifth most minutes in the lead Squad last year you know they came so close to getting that promotion you know leads have been absolutely gutted of their top talent this summer as a result and Archie greay kind of you know kicked off that Exodus didn't he but the fact that we've already seen him come on twice for Spurs you know in place of Ben tenur in the first game in place of Eve basuma in the second game they already suggests that an POA kogo will trust him as a number six in the spur side which I think is pretty amazing for a player so young coming into a really demanding system and not only that I can see him having I I can see him having to cover it fullback this season as well we saw a doggy come off with kind of muscle fatigue last uh last weekend um Jed Spence came for H on for him at left back but there isn't much you know there isn't much cover at right back um if uh Pedro porro was to get injured you know Ben Davis is still in the squad but you know he has to be seen more as Center back cover these days they're looking to sell regalon before uh the transfer window Clos can do both sides though can't Spence can do both sides but it's not but it's not you know that's not huge amount of options there if Pedro poro or a doggy was to get injured suddenly you're looking at you know really no cover at all apart from Archie gray so I can see him having to deputize there and you know this is just a player who has amazing allround ability you know he was putting up really impressive Progressive pass numbers from right back last year for leads you know he displaced Luke haling in that side um you know despite starting the season in Midfield so I think this is a player who is you know does possess um you know match intelligence Beyond his years and yeah we shouldn't put too much pressure on him and yes he went for a fairly big fee but I just think as a long-term investment he already looks really really top um and looks you know I think he will be quite at home in this spur I'm quing my boots to be honest now I thought Gund was a short I like how you like surely your biggest name battling head-to-head with gundan there because I I don't know about gundan manad I feel like he's been there one it all like he's such a monster name that like but do you not think on that basis people are underrating his potential impact no I think everybody thinks his impact is going to be absolutely massive I don't know who else thinks that it's not going to be absolutely massive for me I'm siding with arre on this one oh okay I think that's I think it's a very good pick right 1-1 mccuin Joe I SC the had a shocker last week as well I'm still not over chriswood over Mata right let's go into round three of this one I'll kick off uh give you guys a bit of a breather on this one look we need to Jรธrgen Strand Larsen talk about some of the forwards that Norway have got Harland sorot odard Oscar Bob noos just on rby liip scored on his debut and this guy Jorgen strand Larson newly at wolves uh signed for 30 million EUR from selta vgo with a loan with an obligation to buy that is at the end of the the year it be 30 million EUR 24 years old 6'4 came through at sarpsborg the Norwegian Club then went to gringham then went to selgo and look last year was the first year that he really started to deliver 13 League goals some big goals in big games as well scored against Barcelona Athletic Club Vel he got two goals against seev Real Bettis and last year his XG per 90 was above players like Jude Bellingham it was above players like Rodrigo above players like Rafia and it's not difficult to see why he's not an absolute shot monster shots are way below three which is the kind of standard number that you'd look for for a really Elite Striker but he takes shots in very good positions he only is average shot distance is 11 yards out from goal which is in the top 2% of forwards which means that his XG per shot so the quality of chance the quality of shot and How likely that is to score on the basis of its position is 0.19 and Harland last year was 0.2 and so I just thought when I saw all these numbers oh he's going to be a penalty box operator but actually watching him at the weekend against Chelsea and I know it was a losing cause in the and they completely capitulated in the second half but I actually thought some of his ling cut play with Matas Kya was really really impressive and they looked like they had a nice thing going he obviously scored got off the mark in that one and look wolves have in hang and mates Kya some some top quality forwards but they've lacked a real physical number nine for quite a while that was supposed to be Sasa kadic he got injured on his debut so strand Larson comes in and I think he could have a really good season look wolves look like they're going to struggle they haven't really replaced Pedro Netto and Max kilman and Gary O'Neal once again they are you know in terms of their net expenditure exactly it's it's really difficult but strand Larson he might have to step up for them and on the basis of last year for an quite average CAO side he could well do it yeah I have to say I mean he should have scored against Arsenal as well like the Rya save was absolutely magnificent from his effort as well it does he feel like he's a bit of a focal point for that wolves team the player I'm going to suggest is a player that actually exited wolves this summer we've seen West Ham have an Absolut remarkable transfer window loads of talk about Jean Clair tobo loads of Max Kilman talk about Aaron Wan Baka but I actually think the best defensive signing potentially they've made is Max kilman like yes he doesn't have the high-profile sort of shiny new toy element of a jean Clair TBO who is an exceptional Defender who's got the Barcelona pedigree behind him but with kilman I understand the fee people might look at it and say you know how can that be under the radar it's a massive fee 40 plus million pounds but the consistency kilman delivers and delivered for wolves last year will go a long way to arrest West Ham's problems defensively the exits of Kurt Zuma and seemingly naged that is about to happen you know last season they were fifth worst in the Premier League by expected goals conceded you know they were porous as the backline those two and I think Max kilman's ability to stay fit you know he's averaging 37 starts a season across the last three campaigns his ability on the ball as we saw against Crystal Palace where he drives into the Midfield releases Jared B with an excellent through ball who goes on to score really nicely and his leadership you know he was a captain at wolves will go a long long way I think to making him a bit of a club Hero at West Ham his partnership with TBO could be massive for latei and I just feel like it's gone under the radar because everybody else is talking about like the shiny new toys of West Ham like these exciting new players and kilman's almost like well yeah he's the experienced Pro he's coming in here isn't he you know he's only 27 years old hold Max kilman and the fee might be slightly larger than you would expect for him but I just think consistency is key for a player like this Max kilman you know a couple of seasons ago if Maguire had gone to West Ham I actually think that would have been a great signing oh yeah and I think Max kilman in that similar sort of mold will be an excellent long-term signing for West Ham over the course of his contract I think he'll prove to be their best defender it's a good pitch you speak about his age as well he is a bit of a late bloomer so he is the he's the kind of Center back who I could see still retaining his kind of level until he's like 33 34 sort of age he's not a massively reliant on Pace is he he's excellent positionally contributes really well in terms of his Progressive pass numbers and his composure on the ball but also an excellent Defender from set pieces I really liked Max kilman and I think he an excellent bit of business that people kind of are just shrugging at okay I I think this is quite a strong round actually having with us having used up our so-called big hitters I think I think this is a pretty strong round so I'm bringing in a player who I think is a really really strong Contender here I'm staying at Center back actually and go for someone who was bought for a much bigger bargain price actually a little bit younger than Nikola Milenkovic kilman as well and it's Nicola milenovic to Nottingham Forest I do like you this is a player who was linked with Liverpool United you know other top clubs over the years Spurs I think spur yeah Spurs actually most recently um and always looked you know like a great you know a great potential player didn't he uh but there's always there's always question marks of a player who you know excels in serier you just never know exactly what kind of player you're going to get or often you know clubs you know won't end up pursuing them and maybe it was just the fee you know he was being quoted at kind of 40 50 million pounds at points wasn't he milankovich and it might have just been that that was too big a fee to spend on a player who you know there was I guess a few question marks over him not necessarily the most kind of progressive Defender but physically always looked amazing um and always looked you know very at home at fantina for Forest to then get him for 14.3 million euros I think is an absolute steal and it's not only that it's just the fact that he's already delivering massively yeah you know already delivering massively you know in that you know I mean he's only played one game let's get it right but you know wasn't in the squad for that opening day draw with Bournemouth but supended absolutely why was he suspended Sor something it was something overhanging from fantina it was I think he was the copper Italia he was a r guard the coer Italia and that carries cross that's interesting I didn't realize that um so yeah unfortunate not to start that first game um and and if he had started that first game maybe they wouldn't have conceded against Bournemouth because they were absolutely imperious defensively against Southampton I know Southampton are you know fighting a bit of a losing battle coming into this season trying to play that high possession style which so far you know Newcastle and now Forest have held them at but I mean for you know Newcastle obviously were a man down in that first game with the the early sh sending off but they you know Southampton actually caused them problems whereas Forest were just absolutely fine you know I think they uh limited Southampton to just .1 XG all game despite having only 35% possession only one shot on Target and you have to look at minkovich performance and say that that was a big part you know he played a big part you he won all three aerial Jew that he contested he made six clearances which was the most of any player on the pitch uh he didn't really put a pass wrong all game as well absolutely brilliant in possession even managed three shots himself scored so yeah I mean what a debut for him to have and yeah we kind of looked at that signing we were like yeah you know Forest now have an absolutely stacked back line in terms of just the size of those players Maro is you know a pretty tough player as well and also offers you know that progression going forward he's a goal threat himself um and you just have to think now that Forest you know having for all their you know shiny forward line in the last kind of year or two they have always looked vulnerable defensively with minkovich alongside Mario now it just looks like yeah they just look really really safe and their other Center back options you know you've got Willie Bly who played a fair amount of minutes last year but is now 33 Andrew omab bad Deli who made just eight starts last year off the back of that move from Norwich he's only 22 and still feels like he's going to need a bit more time to bet into the Premier League you know Niar who didn't really work out following that Minds move he's now gone to leyon they just look like they've got quite a good blend of kind of experience and youth in that back line now a good blend of physicality and ball progression yeah I feel it feels like this is the season for for Forest to actually push on and a signing like Movic just feels already super super smart at that price stran lson kilman or minkovich where are you guys I think we should potentially even it up we go to 111 I think I do think I do think your pitch for Str L was strong I prefer it out of your two yeah yeah and I think his his you know goal at the weekend kind of just tips it over I I think also just the narrative around wolves like having not had a decent number nine since jimenez's injury what in 2020 was it like they haven't had a number nine who's consistently scor I know Quang and and CA both had decent scoring records last year but neither of them are out and out number nines I think if strand Larson can become that then wolves you know suddenly the conversation around wolves being kind of Premier League strugglers always having question marks around them that begins to disappear love it 111 two rounds to go Joe I'm struggling with this one I think um but I wanted to give him a shout out because I think he's an excellent bit of business I think I switch have done Jacob Greaves amazing in this window even if they go down ipswitch they've effectively stacked up the squad with a unit that will be one of the best Championship sides you've seen um I think Doogie might also talk about next which player as part of this round but I actually think a potentially better signing is that of Jacob gaves um who's coming to the back line immediately and looks like a leader at the back you know he was whole City's player of the year last year I think he actually won three consecutive young Player of the Year Awards at hole an excellent ho side as well it was not you know a joke ho side last year has come into this I swi side to play alongside wolf andon immediately looks settled at the Premier League level which is not easy for you know a center half to do at just 23 years of age he looks pretty comfortable on the ball wins an awful lot of aerial Jews very physical and this is you know two opening games that are really hard to judge him on you know Liverpool and Manchester City are pretty much the two hardest fixtures unless you added Arsenal in there that IP switch town could ask for and yes you know Harland has bullied him to some level and harland's gone in there he scored a hat-trick it's very difficult as a unit to tr try and cope with earling Highland I'm not going to hold the fact that man city scored four goals in earling Harland bag the hatrick against Jacob grief because I think overall he's an excellent excellent Defender and like I said with IP switch the squad turnover has been so high that they've effectively planned for a relegation even if they go down they are in such an amazing position with their squad they can jump straight back up now I'm not saying it are definitely going to go down but I like the fact they've signed players out the championship I like the fact they've gone and signed you know Liam daps Amari Hutchinson's comeback Jacob Greaves uh the player you're goingon to yeah Samy smic the player you're going to talk about Jack Clark like I I think the business is great and I actually think Jacob Greaves might be one of the best signings of the lot there we have it let's break up the IPS which loveing M who's your suggestion yeah well I was thinking about bringing him in the last round but when when Joe brought kilman up and thought you know it' be good to have two center backs playing off each other but initially I was thinking let's have two wolves forward playing off each other and I think I do genuinely think that there has not been anywhere near enough talk Rodrigo Gomes about the Rodrigo Gomez signing it happened very very early in the summer coming in from braer for 15 million euros and I think especially now that Pedro Netto has left the club there's a bit of pressure now on on the wide players at wol to be able to make up um you know what what they're going to miss from him um especially you know getting that assist you know with that wonderful cut back for Joel Felix against them on the weekend and the celebration that went down really well yeah so really really well I think Rodrigo Gomez I think the plan may have been initially for him to come in and you know kind of you know Neto to take him under his wing a little bit but you know I think 60 million EUR for Pedro Netto is an offer you can't really turn down for a player who doesn't guarantee you a fully fit season as we've seen Rodrigo Gomez coming in he's years younger than Neto he also came through the brager system as well in fact he only grew up I think about a 35 million 35 Milli 35 minute drive from where Pedro Netto grew up and he also profiles really similarly to him as a player seven goals and seven assists last year on Lona esteril who for those who aren't familiar with you know the Portuguese top division they only finish one point off relegation like he can play at left wing back he can play at right wing back he can play on either Wing as well and I think he could have a major major part to play for wolves this season under Gary O'Neal in fact I do feel like already I know you know Arsenal and Chelsea are not your the easiest opening two games but I think already there you know there could be questions as to whether O'Neal reverts to a three at the back F the back system again and Rodrigo Gomez you know can make a real impact there on either flank as he proved for esteril last season um and even in that first game I know he didn't start in the end against Chelsea but did come on when they were chasing the game against Arsenal he received 10 uh Progressive passes wolves only made as a team 24 Progressive passes in that entire game so already we're seeing him used as the you know the main attacking Outlet uh when wolves are trying to break on teams um and I think it may have been a little bit of a mistake not starting him um against Chelsea I also think with the you know the ability uh the dribbling ability of I Nori at left back or left wing back in what he offers in terms of underlapping with those dribbles going into the center if they were able to develop a relationship and uh Gomez was you know able to overlap on him on on the left or sorry 8 noro was able to create space in which uh Rodrigo Gomez can attack the left then I think they could be a really really um exciting pairing going forward for wolves so yeah I just think also just in terms of business 15 million EUR for a player who you know may not get to the level of Pedro Netto but could certainly offer more um reliability in terms of fitness and is the same kind of player loves to take players on super super quick quite direct quite good at arriving late at the back post as well you know very proven goal and assist record I just think it's great business for wolves and I think he offers something different from their current wide options which are you know hang Sarabia neither of who Kar you know natural wide players Gonzalo grees podence again like out of all of those podence is the only real natural wide player um I think Rodrigo Gomez is is already you know an undroppable player for them even though he did get dropped for the second game I think he's going to come straight back into that side oh there we have it it's a very good pitch let's continue the sort of lower end of the Premier League look with a discussion about a player that I was really sad about moving obviously as a Sunland fan didn't want Jack Clarke this to happen especially this late in the window especially when we' started the season so well as a club although we did beat Burnley without him but enough about sundland let's talk about Jack Clark because he's had a great last couple of years like people forget that when he joined Sunland initially on Loan in our promotion season from League one he was very much a bit part player for Sunland towards the end of the year he'd had a really difficult spell at leads Spurs didn't get a look in then went back to leads really struggled on loan went to stoke on loan it just really wasn't happening for him but in the last two years which are two years that have seen Sunland have a lot of issues off the pitch with managers leaving Alex Neil leaving so early on in our championship year first year up then Tony Mo comes in then he leaves halfway through last year Michael Beal comes in he l in a matter of months still in that situation he's performed really well so the year before last nine goals and 12 assists in the championship that was his first year of playing regularly last year 15 goals and four assists in the championship for a side that finished 16th that were a bit of a state by the end of the year as well and you look at his numbers last year remarkable like 10th for shots that's that's pretty solid but sixth for chances created and only two players was that in the entire championship in the entire Championship impr only two players completed over 100 dribbles in the championship last year georgino Ruto just joined Brighton I think he was on 127 and then Jack Clark who was on 148 that is the gap between him and the rest of the championship in terms of dribbling ability like last year 3.9 successful dribbles per 90 and for an nip switch side that might be quite deep set at various points might have to dig in having that out ball in Jack clar could be really important like last year seven .7 Progressive carries per 90 that's almost double what sackur and Salah provide last year admittedly in the Premier League of course but for an average Sunland side that's really really impressive and there's something about him with the low socks the the hair tied back in a little band you aesthetic it's very aesthetic and it's lovely to see look ips switch are going to have it difficult this year despite the spending you look at their next run of games Fulham bright and sampton Villa after playing Liverpool and and Man City they might not have too many points on the board by mid-september but I really hope that they give Jack clarkk a run in the side and don't get disappointed or or changed too early if he's getting you know not having much success because I did kind of want him to become a bitp player at a West Hammer or wolves and be eased into those sides rather than inst under press pressure for IP switch but as Joe points out earlier you know he's well set if they do go down to the championship which is no guarantee but if they do he could dominate in the championship as well I'm sad to see him leave but I think he is one of the the most underrated signings of the summer um dugs do you want to carry on speaking cuz I feel like this is the the only time yeah the first time you've ever been able to speak about a sundland player on a video yeah I've been waiting about Pitch it's a good pitch thank I almost feel guilty about not giving him the point like Sunderland fan like a lot of pain it's miserable isn't it um do we give the point to Doogie there is it a pity point though if we don't give I don't want pity Point give it a pity point it's tough cuz I'm coming up against two whip switch players here and I think they're both great signings um I have to say picture was good was it it was very good should we go Mikey's point I think well I'm happy to go I so it is 211 we are now doing a bonus pick in Europe guys we really need this let's say this is worth two points just for added Jeopardy this is proper next goal win stuff yeah exactly exactly play your own stuff okay so who wants to kick off um Joe why don't you start okay uh I'm going to go for y m Coco to n the guy who didn't beat Chris Wood last week you rub that in an open wound I think so because I have the fee frankly you know 12 million euros option to buy or might be an obligation actually after Al loan with the issues that nce have got with Teran Mia of course snapping his ACL such a vital component to n's attacking line last year their top scorer I think scored 11 goals in Liga M Mako feels like he's at a real Crossroads in his career doesn't he cuz he's 19 years old now this was one of the highest rated young talents in well football really when he broke onto the scene at brussa Dortmund of course that ridiculous record of 140 odd goals in 88 youth games and it's been a bit of a slow moving situation since then hasn't it the changing of managers at Dortmund I don't think is helped him battling with players at earling harand for minutes I don't think has helped and his goal record on the on the surface of it isn't outstanding but it's because he's played so little minutes I think 600 minutes of football across the last 12 months it was okay in terms of goal record last year I think 600 minutes five goals something like that in the Bundesliga last season but he was running at like7 non-penalty expected goals per 90 across that time that does kind of skew because most of those minutes come as substitute appearances against TI legs doesn't it but I back him to score goals in league on a league that is really the home of emerging Talent across Europe you know the amount of players we've seen either develop from France or go to Liga and develop themselves and then join a super Club in the next two to three years over the last you know 5 years to A decade is massive and I see no reason that the same won't happen with makoko I could see him getting significant minutes in an side that start the season very poorly really there are question marks over whether or not the ownership's sort of eyes have been taken off the prize a little bit with Manchester United of course Jim ratliffe owning both clubs inos owning both clubs have the attention been slightly diverted to Manchester United n almost feel a little bit like the Forgotten project don't they with the sale of Jean Clair tobo sale of Keim to Ram as well so the arrival of makoko I think is quite exciting and I think he can cover for the output of mofy last season which although he was vital was only 11 goals I'm going to go for makoko okay painful to hear it second consecutive week but it's a good pitch Mikey you're Euros Shack I'm also going for a striker um a slightly more High move than makoko or at least a move that you know cost more but I think for a player who finished as La liga's top scorer last year still an amazing fee to be honest and that's artum dock going to Roma from Girona you Artem Dovbyk know he was all set at scen for a move to Atletico Madrid they ended up going for Alexander solot in the end couldn't quite get a deal over the line um for doic who according to reports you know didn't like you know at letti kind of changing terms at the last minutes Daniel D Rossi then got on the phone personally too dobic to kind of swoop in and persuade him of a move to Roma at which point apparently Simone then tried to you know persuade him back but you know that's you know a pretty amazing story in of itself if reports are to be believed of of D roi's ability to to sway a player like dobic take him away from Spain where he had such success last season take him away from Atletico Madrid who at this point are a much bigger Club you know o over the the last 15 years at least then Roma certainly have achieved far more and are more of a safe bet in many respects um in terms of that project under Simeone but I think you know Roma's business in general this summer has been really really interesting they've brought in Enzo Lefay from Ren who you know had a bit of a difficult year at Ren last year but before that at lauron in France looked like one of the the best Midfield prospects in all of Europe Matia Sula who had that amazing lone spell last year away from Juventus in Sera you know if it wasn't for Yoshua xeri almost certainly would have won the best young player in Sera last year they've also got rid of Ru Patricio spinat Sola alwa Botti so there's been quite a lot of turnover in that Roma Squad so I would say that that you know Daniel DSi should be given a bit of time in you know the early months of this season because he is you know working out a slightly new Squad there has been quite a lot of turnover in that sense but also this move from Jon's perspective you know they've made over three times the amount they paid for for him out of Ukraine last summer so they've done great business and I think the the main question mark with doic is he is slightly different from Lukaku or very different kind of Striker from Lukaku who can do a little bit more work outside the box himself Roma don't have a ton of wide talent and I think they kind of need that to be able to produce those cutbacks for doic to score from that was what he was so good at for jiron last year Roma don't have that much but I do think if they can get Enzo Lefay going who's a great chance Creator from Midfield um if you know if someone like Sula can become a bit more creative as well then I think they're on to a winner with dock you know paa dybala um rejecting that move to Saudi Arabia as well you know maybe they can dovetail but it's yeah there are tactically question marks I think over D Roi but I think in general that price for a player who you know won you know the top scorer last year in La Liga has I think finished top scorer of his league for three years running now I think it's a great price it is a great price I Mak are you going for a striker as well I am going for a striker no I'm not I'm going for a midfielder as well I was tempted by Catherine teram joining Juventus I think that was a good one Alexander solot moved to Atletico Madrid I think that's exciting as well but in the end I've gone for Alex Garcia going from Aleix Garcia Herona like doic but toar Leverkusen as well and it's actually for a bit of a more Niche reason in that I think Granite Jaa played an enormous amount of football last year and has for the last seven or eight years I think he's topped 40 games in seven of the last eight years obviously in his 30s now and With Champions League football with an expanded champions league as well bar Leverkusen had the potential to be a little thin in that area and you look at Alex Garcia's skill set and it's pretty similar to Granite Jaa as well so they can rotate a little bit more in terms of passes completed in terms of progressive passes he was in the top 10 in Europe's top five leagues last year Alex Garcia playing for Herona side that no one expected to qualify for the champions league and in terms of long balls completed as well which were really used by B lusen really effectively switched to play out to those Wing backs galdo or Jeremy frong only rodri for outfield players in Europe's top five leagues completed more so if they can keep Alex Garcia for the more minor Bundesliga games uh or potentially play alongside Jaca and keep Jaca fresh I think that could make a massive difference as they try and compete on all fronts this season and you look at what Jaca did I know it was only one goal one game but his goal against boros back at the week really really special so I'm going for Alex garas and maybe bit more of a niche sh maybe not deserving of two points let's see so we' got Dove bck Alex Garcia and Joe's was yofa makoko I think Mikey deserves to win this one do really yeah I think dock was a good shout and I think your overall pitch few players was probably the strongest of the three man I really I am excited to see do book in uh in Syria as we said and fantastic to see dybala like stay there I know like the Roma fans are outside his house wer they serenading him last week so lot of T going to be a lot of T yeah to many surprised I won that round he wanted Wingers at the start of the summer and he's ended up with about six yeah I mean I think yeah there's a BL of pressure on zesi who's now playing on the left but he's looked good so far but yeah is yeah I don't know I think this season might not be the season for it we'll see but uh but yeah I thought I got away with one there to be honest but thanks guys let's see how we go great pitches from Mikey Mikey wins 411 against the others against us two in a row now two in a row good stuff from Mikey he's talking a big game already well I started the season terribly I lost the first two rounds on but guys thank you so much for watching the lowdown for this week what did you guys make of our picks which ones did we miss out get at us in the comments and we'll catch you next week
