even Mother Nature can't stop fall football with thunder and lightning up in Corvalis Oregon State's second scrimmage of fall Camp may have been delayed momentarily on Saturday but even that couldn't stop the Beavers from putting on the pads all in all an okay performance there were some highs there were some lows Giovanni McCoy started first then Ben go Branson and finally Jabari Johnson during the first series McCoy threw a pick six to Nico Taylor who did make a nice play on the ball give him credit and then Jem Patterson would pick off Johnson in the third series he would redeem himself though with a nice touchdown pass a little while later and then on the flip side the defense is just playing really really well right now folks especially in the red zone and they're making the plays exactly when they need to yeah I'm feeling good I think it's tough to play our defense and uh they give us a good challenge every day and I think we've done a good job of uh sharpening iron on both sides I think it's very close to what we've been in the past and I think as the year goes on and we build that uh chemistry more I think it'll be great the guys we have come in they're really smart which is very nice to have um so it's good that you know everyone has experience now I know what all of you at home are wondering right now when will a starting quarterback be announced well along with a lot of praise and critiques from head coach Trent Bray he announced after this the scrimmage that a decision will be made sometime next week take a listen I thought it looked good I I think the the competition um from both sides the ball back and forth the the way they're playing the effort and physicality uh we're close you know we still got to continue to get better but but it's starting to look starting to look the way we want it especially this close to game time I think there there's there's moments where it looks really good there's still stuff they got to clean up um there's a lot they got to handle a lot motions um setting protections changeing protection so they're just they're getting better but again it's just a continuous process we'll know sometime uh probably late next week yep before we start Idaho State prep we'll we'll announce it
