Only Murders In The Building: S4 E1 "Once Upon A Time In The West"

what is up you guys welcome back to me TV reviews I am your host Mo and tonight y'all we are wrapping up the 444 okay we are going to be discussing one of my favorite shows that has finally made its appearance for the season this is only murders in the building season 4 episode one titled Once Upon a Time in the West I hope you guys have had a wonderful week thus far y'all we are almost at hump day so y'all know exactly what that means okay got rest of the week to grind this thing out get them grades and then it's back to the weekend so we can relax thank goodness okay so without further Ado let's go ahead get into the synopsis and then we're gonna get right into the episode so the synopsis for this one is Charles Oliver and Mabel are whisk to Los Angeles where a legendary Film Studio intends to adapt their podcast Hollywood's Glitz is overshadowed by a stunning clue about Charles's stunt double and friend SAS Pataki y'all when I saw the last name I was like hga Pataki off of Hey Arnold all right y'all without further Ado let's let's go ahead and get into the episode so we start the episode off with Charles AKA brazzo giving the closing for the last season of the podcast as we see the short films of him Mabel and Oliver in real life okay y'all they are all so cute Charles Steve Martin handsome okay Steve uh Martin schw a goofy okay not like goofy looking but he he looks like he was a Class Clown and mael oh my gosh y'all Selena so dag on cute with that little twang but um when he's almost finished there's like this quick little power surge and he suggest that they go celebrate with the wine he asked sass to go get a while ago but his yet to turn with so on the way up to his place Mabel mentions an email that she received from someone named Bev melon and they're talking about the next case that they're going to work on when we know that they're probably going to get ready to walk right into it because in the the ending from last season SAS got shot she was laid out on the floor leaking okay we didn't know what was happening but we know that whoever this was probably mistook her for for Charles and so somebody is trying to take him out so when they get up there I was like Lord they F to see her on the floor but no okay when they go in he finds the wine but the cork ends up dropping on the floor and y'all they haven't cut the lights on yet so I was like okay maybe they don't see it because it's dark maybe they don't see all the blood no there was no blood on the floor aside from like little bits of specks of blood now Mabel had mentioned that there were some dark spots on the floor that she hoped wouldn't stain the floor so there was like little remnants that somebody must have missed when they were in the cleanup process and then she also saw some splatter on the oven handle so they missed that too right but there's nobody SAS is not there where the hell is she and so as they toast up we can clearly see in ey shot that a bullet hole is there in the window but they don't see it and so later on at night Charles is hitting s up he done hit her up a few times and when he looks at his phone the next morning to see if she responded she has not responded and he keeps hearing like this Whistling noise and so he done made his morning tea and everything he still ain't noticed the splatter on the oven uh on the oven handle I was like how you not see that but mael and Olive Oliver end up coming over and we can clearly tell that Oliver's in distress okay he done received the news that the death rattles uh production is over done fito because Donna and Cliff who were the murderers in last season are using those funds that he was going to use to continue the production and take this thing all the way to Broadway they're using their that those funds for their lawyers for their defense attorneys and now he's pissed about it okay he's so upset he he feels like this is the end of the world for him and um he says that after he had told Loretta about death rattle being over y'all she Hur up and skirt skirted she was on the first flight out to LA to shoot for her TV show cuz y'all remember she got offered that spot on the TV show so she's in La already and Mabel ended up staying over because she's homeless she doesn't have anywhere to go now I thought that she was supposed to be moving somewhere else but apparently she decided to stay at Oliver's so Charles is complaining about this weird noise that has been hearing all night like I said it's a whistling noise and so he's convinced that he's got some type of brain tumor and poor Mabel y'all she just she's still trying to figure her life out now she mentions that Beth melon again had shot her an email or text her something and it seems that Bev melon works for Paramount and she's very interested in making a movie based on their podcast and as soon as Oliver heard that y'all he immediately saw dollar signs and I can't say that I blame him because hello it's Paramount so Charles is hesitant to go because he still hasn't heard from SAS and he's very concerned about her he then randomly receives a text from her saying how she's out in La playing a double for Scott baula now I don't know people's names like that and so I Googled his name and I was like oh man that's your boy from NCIS New Orleans yes y'all love NCIS New Orleans I can't even remember his name on that show but it was so good y'all it'll come to me once I I quit recording I promise you um okay well then it's settled since he's heard from sass let's go to La let's get this money so they arrive and they're clearly on the set and of course it's all the stereotypical things about New York playing out on film and they sit down with the producers later and Bev is also there and she lets them know that she's already got things in place okay actors to play them the only thing that they need to do that's left for them is sign over their life rights but they want to talk numbers first because we just not going to be signing off on no paper and then you not give us no paper you see what I'm saying so beev tells them that they'll be able to meet the cast later at this party that they're throwing and when she describes their characters is hella offensive to them now she called Oliver like the obnoxious one um Charles is like the unfun turtle or unfun uncle or something like that and then she called mael like this mumbling homeless uh she called her something else too I was like damn really but she says that these car these actors really um capture the essence of who they are so mayel done heard enough this is overwhelming to her and so she steps out and the guys follow her to talk to her and so she knows that of course she's in this one period of her life but she doesn't want that to be the main thing that's portrayed about her on the big screen because she's so much more than her current living status okay she's so much more than that and she's still in her 20s so she still got time to figure this thing out and so she just asked them for some time to think about it meanwhile Sydney who is brazzo's old driver when he used to run the town drives up to take them on the tour of the city now he it look like he might be knocking on de's door too but he he soup up the limo okay and so they they taking the to the city but first he wants to stop by s's place and so they do but it's obvious once they get there that she hasn't been there for quite some time because when he he doesn't have a key but when he looks through like like the slit the slit where the you put the mail through he can see that there's dead flowers in the vase okay and so there's also a bunch of mail and packages that are sitting right outside her door and I'm like damn girl you must really trust the people that live around here or they must be you know well well further off than you are because ain't nobody touched her Amazon packages ain't no porch Pirates over there she had a whole bunch of stuff sitting outside her porch y'all I'm just saying so Charles doesn't he of course he's concerned but he doesn't want to seem like the unfun Uncle he doesn't want to seem like the worry wart and so he was like you know what I'm not going to worry about it let's go have some fun and so they end up going to the cast party and they think that they're the ones that are receiving all the supplies when they walk in but no no no it's the people behind them that are playing them that that are receiving all the Applause and so coming in to play each character you've got Eugene Levy playing brazzo uh evil Longoria playing mael and I was like wow we didn't have nobody younger now I mean you know beauty that that's great but agewise really Eva and so then you've got Allan his real name is Zach I don't want to mispronounce his last name Zach Galino Gall of nois Allan from The Hangover okay now initially he was he's playing Oliver y'all now initially Oliver thought that this was Jack Black he didn't know who the hell he was at first and so then Zack sarcastically says that he's uh Jack Black and he was like oh yeah yeah he was like no I'm not I'm not him and so he has no clue y'all and Eugene is really excited to play Charles and Eva is still trying to get a read on mael because Mabel's really mysterious she's very quiet and very mumbly of according to them so she's talking to her uh Eva talking to Mabel at the bar and she tells her that if she's going to sell her life rights then she needs to make sure that she squeezes the company for as much as she can to make sure that she's able to turn that into some other cash cows for her later on down the line like she did okay she done did a whole bunch of stuff I didn't know she had like sportsare and all the things I didn't know she had computers and laptops and stuff and Tequilas I knew she was dipping and dabbling in a couple of things but I didn't know to that extent good for you Eva and so um she also mentioned that the reason they aged her up because mapel was like okay you know you're beautiful that's great but why did they age me up is it because I'm an old soul and she was like girl no okay we did a poll and the the one word that kept coming back to us when we thought about the group was creepy because there's such an an age gap between her and the guys and so they decided to AG up so Oliver is being insulted by Zach obviously when Loretta pops up okay his lady love is here now and he says that he's been trying to reach out to her y'all Mar Street look good in that black dress y'all it look like she was floating on air okay she look so beautiful so anyway he says that he's been trying to reach out to her but she hasn't really been reaching back to him but that's cuz she's been busy filming okay she's out here in Hollywood now and then they came up with some little short acronym for the show that nobody understands and she still has to explain it all away anyway so what's the point but she's here and so they're sitting down and she's like man who would have thought it a week ago that we'd all be out here in Hollywood and so brzo is talking to Eugene and Eugene is so in awe of him he can't even recognize when brazzo is being real or trying to be in character and so um he ends up telling brazzo that he voiced him for the Quebec Edition and mimicked him when he was saying that he was worried about s and we skip back to Mabel Mabel goes to talk to Bev about her terms and conditions while Loretta and Oliver discuss their relationship and how she is really wanting him to consider moving to LA with her I mean because death rattle is dead and y'all don't really have a case right now to work on the podcast for so I was thinking that maybe you can come out here you know because I really do love you and in that moment y'all I really did think that Oliver was F to get ready to ask her to marry him but for whatever reason he held back he decided against it and he says that he's just going to need some time to consider it and so as um they're having this discussion brazzo is following who he believes is sad but it's actually Scott baula y'all that's going to get get on my nerves that I cannot remember his name from NCIS New Orleans oh my gosh okay anyway so he asked him about SAS but sadly Scott confirms that he has not been able to reach her either so just then Mabel comes back to Oliver with good news that she finally has accepted um to sign off on her life rights in order for them to go through with this deal and of course Oliver is stoked do you hear me super excited but brazzo then comes up and says that they need to go back to sz's place so while there they flip on the lights and as they flip on the lights we see these x-rays light up and it's showing all of the bones that she's broken or that she's had to replace while she's you know been working as a stunt double and all of them were replaced in Bulgaria which is weird but I guess that's her place of preference to get it done done so okay you like it I love it so they go looking on her desk and they find all these different type of notes now one of them is more disturbing than the others but we don't know what it means all it says is that they're looking at Charles so just then Mabel gets another message from Howard now before they had left Howard had came over and said that he had adopted this puppy because he couldn't adopt any more cats he had had adopted this dog named gravy g r a v y right and so he was trying to shoot this um project concept to mael and she was like so Howard had texted her again and um had asked her had she thought any more about his proposal and she was like no I haven't we'll talk about it when I get back to New York and by the way you're spelling gravy wrong and she spelled it like correctly and so at the same time Charles ends up getting a phone call from the doorman I can't remember his name y'all I'll figure it out before the end of the season he gets a a phone call from the dman saying how he couldn't replace his window today and he was like what are you talking about and he said oh you left a note for me to come and replace your window but I think he said he got tied up with something and so he couldn't and um he says that that's where the Whistling noise was coming from and so Charles asked him how big the hole was and he was like is it Bullet Hole big and he was like you know what don't touch that window until I get back and so he text the person who has sas's phone to let them know that he knows that he knows that he's not texting SASS and so he ask them who they are and so mayel at the same time is getting a response back from how Howard saying that that's how her name is spelled because she's a retired kadaver dog he said that she was a retired dog but he never said from what profession y'all she is a retired cadaver dog and so of course now they catch a red eye back to New York and head straight to Charles's house and so they're looking at this bullet hole and they end up having Howard come over with gravy who picks up the s from the kitchen floor now they have they have um kind of like singled out this specific spot in the floor two or three times in this episode so this is exactly where SAS died okay so gravie is uh signaling he he done picked up the she done picked up the sand on the floor in the kitchen and then she goes down the hallway to the incent generator where there's a note that warns excuse me where there's a note that warns anybody to not use it because it's out of order so then they go to the basement and Charles reaches in and there's ashes okay it's dust and sifting through the dust he ends up finding a few metal plates from Bulgaria and in this instance we know that this is sass at the same time he finally gets a reply back from sz's killer saying how they're not his effing friend and that's the way the episode ends y'all with with Charles holding sz's metal plates this was a really good first episode really good first episode I hope that the rest of the season goes like this who is responsible now we do know that she has some sensitive information that she wanted to talk to him about but she never got the chance to but what information is that is it regarding his ex that she had been talking to that was I think was
