ANOTHER TRADE 🚨: Commanders Send WR Jahan Dotson To The Eagles For 3rd Round Pick

trade because this is very interesting to me okay Johan Dodson we've been talking about him potentially being on the hot seat here for a little while now and now not only do the commanders trade him they trade him to a division rival in the Philadelphia Eagles here here's the trade compensation the commanders are getting a third round pick a day two draft pick back for Johan doson who is essentially their number four receiver at this point so that's a great haul plus you get two seventh round picks in 2025 so for a team with for the Washington commanders that is trying to uh build up this team that is trying to rebuild uh yes they're still in that rebuilding process right now it seems like Johan doson is not a player that they felt like was going to be a part of their long-term future so they send him to the Eagles as along with a fifth round pick in 2025 as well and personally I like this trade guys I'm going to explain why I like this trade here in just a second but first that you ended up having you pretty much turned a fifth round pick into a third round pick by sweetening the deal with Jan Watson so listen man with this team trying to rebuild they need to get high quality Talent they need to get starting capable talent in years in in the years to come here to supplement this roster hopefully with Dan Quinn as the head coach and Jaden Daniels as the quarterback and I like this trade man because Jan Dotson it was very apparent with the way he was practicing with the way he was uh being constantly being put down the depth chart with Alam sakias and diami brown emerging as the number two and number three wide receiver options on this team and with Jan doson being a a former first round pick still having value I do think the time was right for GM Adam Peters to pull the trigger on this and listen man if doson was in the long-term future of this football team and they felt like he was going to be a fundamental building block of this offense they wouldn't have traded him and they definitely wouldn't have traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles so uh the fact that the commanders are comfortable trading him to the Eagles tells me that they feel pretty confident that Johan dodson's a bust and that he is not a good player and that he is not going to be a particularly valuable player for the Philadelphia Eagles and they just fleeced the Philadelphia Eagles out of a third round selection that is a day two pick guys that is a very valuable draft pick that they just got and yes you give up a fifth rounder uh but that upgraded of a pick and moving that pick up two rounds essentially that's going to be very valuable for this football team and you're going to be able to have the opportunity to take a potential starter with that third round pick fifth round picks usually don't end up being anything uh so you know moving that pickup from from the fifth round to the third round very beneficial for the Washington commanders now if you guys will remember Johan doson was s was taken just a couple seasons ago here 16th overall in the 2022 NFL draft the commanders actually moved back from number 11 to take him at number 16 remember Chris olve was the one that was taken at number 11 certainly seems like Ron Rivera screwed the pooch on that one if you ask me now Johan started his career uh you know with that 2022 season having some nice plays having some nice games I mean he the future seemed bright for Jan doson in that 2022 season and by the way these the PFF grades are switched here the 57.7 is actually the 2023 number he had a 70.5 in the 2022 number there uh but you guys can see the overall stats in 2022 was just generally better than what he did in 2023 as sophomore season and apparently in training camp in these preseason games he hasn't been impressive enough to solidify himself as the number two receiver on this team like we did expect heading into the year so right now does seem like Terry mclen obviously is your number one wide receiver alamad sakias and dami brown have both had very impressive preseason and Training Camps to this point I think those two are pretty solidly your number two and number three receivers at this point and then Luke mcaffrey you're hoping he's a part of this team's future uh took him uh in the third round this year at the end of the third round Mitchell Tinsley has had a pretty decent training camp as well you still got Jameson Crowder in the building so I still kind of like this wide receiver room okay I do think you still have a true number one and you know let's just face the let's just face facts guys Johan Dodson was the number four receiver on this depth chart behind zakus and behind Brown anyway so why not just use a a still valuable clearly Johan doson to poach a third round selection away from the Philadelphia eag I think this is a a really really good package that was put together by GM Adam Peters and I think that this trade is going to benefit the Washington commanders in the long run I think this trade also probably points to the commanders not expecting to truly be competitive this year uh in terms of like being a Super Bowl caliber team I think that I've said it for weeks here guys on the program this year is the foundational year for the Washington commanders get Jaden daniels's feet wet establish Dan Quinn's culture and the next year they're going to have a ton of cap space and they're going to have a lot of high-end draft Capital now with this additional third round pick to really load up for year two here with the Washington commanders doesn't mean this season won't be entertaining it won't be electric it definitely will be jayen Daniels will certainly be uh somebody that I consider to be a rookie of the year candidate we're going to be covering every single second of it here on the commander Port but I do think that Adam Peters and Dan Quinn are expecting this team to really take off in year two and this round five pick for a day two pick in round three so I think that this is something uh that's going to end up working out for the Washington commanders and honestly I don't think Johan dodson's going to be any good for the for the Philadelphia Eagles all right I think that they see him as a former first round pick still very talented obviously he is um but if he was any good I mean I do think that he would be solidified as the number two receiver on this football team here at the Washington commanders and I definitely don't think Washington would have would have traded him to a division rival
