WR Ricky Pearsall is was just in here and saying you have a certain confidence that you it's clear that you know you're good but I assume as a rookie you don't want to get too carried away and you know have people like say dude you're just a rookie where is the line for you um or is it just being yourself yeah man I think it just goes back to all the work that I put in I think that's where it comes with my confidences my preparation at the end of the day um but yeah you always got to stay grounded and stay humble within yourself so you know just being me what happened uh before camp that that led to the injury and how how are you feeling now yeah it was just a workout that you know I was working out and it just happened you know out of nowhere but right now I'm just trying to stick to the plan that they had me on in the training room and get better and get right have you had a welcome to the NFL moment yet going against any of the guys um really every day honestly just battling against them you know they're one of the top defenses in the entire uh Nation so you know going against them each and every day is going to make me better on a radio interview that it's how everybody knows how what a difficult offense this is for a rookie receiver to step into but that you've done it pretty seamlessly so far he's pretty pretty impressed by it what has your head been swimming or have you grasp it pretty easily how would you describe the process yeah I think I've took big strides since I've got here in the beginning yes it was a little difficult you know um coming into a offense like this that's very complex there's a lot to it and um trying to you know Lear learn it all in one day is impossible so I just kind of told myself that over and over again and just you know each day how I can get better and improve and you know knowing the Playbook and I think that I've made a big strides to this point you're not getting a pass thrown you like today you still follow through on the play like you're you're yards after somebody else catches it you're going after guys so is that something that has always been with you or is that something you developed the last couple years to play through the play yeah at this point it's just muscle memory man um luckily I've had a lot of good coaches you you know in the past and then obviously coach Hank now um he's just always stressing about finishing the play so you know whatever I can do to show that you know if it's somebody else catching the ball going up and Lead blocking for them or just honestly just acting like I got the ball and making somebody Miss and imagine it in my head so when it does come my way then you know second nature so makes a lot of anticipatory throws and you're a great route Runner it seems like you guys are almost made to play together um what's it been like this summer repping it on the field with him you know it's been a pleasure obviously um he's one of the top quarterbacks in the league right now so you know going into a you know a system with a quarterback like that it's a great blessing for myself it's made everything easier you know just chopping it up with him each and every day his locker is actually right next to mine so I get to talk to him each and every day and you know going up to him and just having a normal conversation like what can I get better at um and then just ask some questions about the Playbook and getting feedback from the quarterback so cuz once you start seeing it through a quarterback's land and it just becomes that much easier for a receiver so just continue to develop that trust and um that connection with him does your background with IU make him the guy that you sort of go to to ask questions about whyde receiver what what's your interaction with him been like this summer yeah I've definitely asked some questions you know he's like I was going back he's one of the best receivers in the league so you know any kind of information I can get from him you know is going to B only benefit my game and obviously we played together in college so uh he was a guy that I got to look up to as a freshman coming in and being like that's what a pro looks like and now it kind of just you know wrapped all back around and now we're here together so being able to like look what he does throughout his entire day and ask him questions about you know what it's like to be in the league and the system and some things I can work on in my game that he may see in the film room so you uh made a catch the other day D Winters was on your back you got s you got both feet down and you want to describe that play yeah I definitely think I got both feet down I think so um going back on film and watching it I think I was in but um it was a good competitive rep um he he had inside leverage on me so it was a play where I had a two-way go and um obviously I didn't want to lose my leverage so I I broke out and tried to make a play he almost broke it up so I had to come down with the juggling catch made the catch you said what break it up and then you made the catch oh yeah absolutely absolutely gotta stay with it of his wide receivers do you enjoy that pressure does that is that something where you thrive yeah I just always say that honestly that I put more pressure on myself than anybody can have on me so you know at this point I'm used to it um but that that's you know what all great coaches do to their you know players coming in Especially You know guys like myself that you know are welcoming that pressure so you know I'm I'm up for the job I'm excited to get started you learned what's something that you've learned from him just as you've been here K shanan yeah man it I mean I sit right there and I'm just you know eyes glued onto what he's talking about and just you know seeing how complex our offens is and him talk through it and him break down the entire play even run plays um it you know was really impressive I'm just trying to soak up all the knowledge from him too you know obviously he's a super super smart guy and knows the system the ins and outs of it and that's the level I want to be on so you know any information I can get from him a lot a lot of guys have been around here for a long time that get you know workload manage get vet days things like that one guy that isn't is deo what what what kind of tone does it set knowing that every day number one is going to be out there and uh given you know everything he's got in practice yeah he's a tone Setter man um he's he's obviously a experienced vet he's had a lot of success in uh his years here and you know being a young guy coming in and seeing that you know that's important for me cuz you know obviously he's setting the the tone for the room and being able to see that and going out there and attacking each day like he is and you know it just makes it that much more fun when you're out there you know uh seeing a vet guy right next to you and you're just having fun with him and going out there and being competitive each and every day that more his style is kind of lead by example rather than you know talking no he's he's got both he's got both for sure yeah yeah yeah he talks is it going against travarus ward in particular have you ever faced a corner like him before no I haven't to be honest uh I mean i' I've gone against a lot of good Corners in my career I'll say being in the SEC and then obviously the years before that being in the Pack 12 but you know the corners out here are a little bit different for sure they've had a lot of success and you know the best the best so going against a guy like that is definitely going to make me better man I'm excited each and every day I see him walk up on me and uh when we're out there in a play I get excited because I just know you know this is an important rep for me you know I got to give it my all and improve this level to maintain the separation throughout like the entirety of the route yeah it gets harder for sure you know that separation definitely uh gets closer and closer the the more uh you know obviously the better Pros you you go against and get in a league like this it's just going to be that much tighter but obviously a guy like me though I'm I'm a perfectionist I try to get as much a separation as I can on each route so the biggest difference for you as far as like study habits sleep schedule just in general going from the college Pro yeah um I think they put a lot of people in this building that's you know been harping out a lot and getting your system getting your daily routine together and that's something I'm still trying to you know learn from some of the vets around here and get my routine together um I think I got a a good one going right now but you know that's super important for all the guys to have that during camp for sure Brandon had a really friendly but very serious rivalry during the past couple training camps have you had that initial interaction with Fred yet as far as rivalry I don't know you know I think today was like day three for me or something like that so you know I'm still trying to get acclimated back into practice but um Fred is that competitive guy for sure you know you you always know where he's at on the field uh he just has that pre uh that presence so I've had multiple conversations with him obviously trying to get as much knowledge from him and how to maintain your body and things like that and just being a pro than yeah thank you guys great year last year did you make any CB Isaac Yiadom adjustments going into last year I just really uh did the same thing I've been doing my whole entire career but it was just I got an opportunity and you know uh going into my seventh year now as I got older I just been learning uh after all the different vets I've played with different schemes I've play I've been playing in and you know I just made the most out of it is there anyone in particular that you're leaning on in the corner back room as you get acclimated into the system pretty much everybody I'm I'm getting to know everybody uh little by little so uh I can't pinpoint one person too much but uh I'm watching a lot of Mooney you know he had lot of success last year so uh when I go back and watch games from last year I try to watch him you know and what stands out to me with him is he took the ball away when they threw him the ball he caught it uh he was in a great position all the time he was taking advantage of the defense and it worked out for him so I'm trying to follow after his footsteps you mentioned the the many schemes that you've been in what what is it about this scheme that you feel like fits your skill set um I feel like it's a we we do a variety of different things I feel like it's a a mix we don't play I don't think we play too much Z we play a little bit of man too but uh you know there's there's somebody in every single window uh not to say too much but there's somebody in every single window there's help everywhere once you really get into it and dive deep into it and uh you know believe in it if you see all these different players like Fred and Mooney that's why they take off cuz uh you got to trust in each other just trust in somebody being here and there and just doing your job besides the obvious a chance to play deep into the postseason what appeal to you about this opportunity I mean it's a it's a win team it's a winning franchise it's a great franchise feel like you don't really uh Decline and offer to play for a team like this and uh I know they have such a great defense to come in here and uh play a main role in this type of Defense with these great play uh players like Bosa Fred all these all these other guys you know I couldn't pass it up your teammates have all commented on how quickly you kind of um fit into the culture here into the locker room how would you describe that that culture yeah I mean it's just everybody here come to work you know what I mean I feel like one thing about this locker room is everybody's together like even myself like some of the guys that I really got to know on the team is mostly offensive guys but like uh everybody hang out with each other everybody's really cool um everybody come to work everybody's about their business we have fun at the end of the day but it's not clicky at all everybody Brothers you know and that's what uh winning teams do so it's good to see that unique for you hanging out with offensive guys uh and you know socially things like that n not really they they they cool you know what I mean when I get on the field you know I I don't like them much but off the field I I love them a lot and uh it's great to hang out with those guys see how they think uh hear them talk offense sometimes hear them talk ball on the other side it's it's really cool and you need to see what are your thoughts on on guarding piol the rookie what do you see from him does he look like he can somebody step in and contribute yeah for sure I like him a lot um I haven't complimented him yet but I like him a lot and uh he get he he's a great releaser uh I think he run great routes um I think if he keep working and he keep doing his thing he's going to be uh great in this offense great playing in this n in the NFL for a while so I'm a big fan of him and I like working against him every single opportunity I get I want to work against him uh I think he making me better uh I think him going against me uh is making him better too so I'm I'm I'm a big fan of him at what point can you compliment a rookie I don't know I don't know I don't like to compliment rookies too much but uh like I said I I like his game uh I think he got some confidence too he got some dog in him so he knows it he knows he's pretty good and I just hope that he continues toh work and that's the thing I like about him he just go to work he just shuts up just goes to work and uh whether it's a down play or a good play he just come back and go to work he don't hang his head and he just keep going so I love that about him how you how does he kind of strad that line because as a rookie you don't want to S too confident um but you know he gives off a vibe that he knows he's all right yeah uh you know as a receiver I I like my receivers super confident so I don't mind that I like I think receivers should I like receivers when they're cocky and freaking dogs and confidence so I love that about receivers I like the way that he uh carry himself I think he gonna fit right in there with Joan and auk and Debo and you know those that's a dog group of receivers so you get uh Ricky in there too that's great said that you're completely different player from the time you guys were in Denver what's different about him about him or what what's different brand from the time you guys were uh well he was my obb coach uh then but we was really close uh even though he was the obb coach I was always close to him uh I had a up and down year when I was in Denver but I was really close to him I would always go into his office he would talk ball through me he would help me out and to have him here now in the secondary room in the DB room really helping us out pre-practice he really uh he playing a big part of my game right now uh he's trying to take it to a different uh level he believ in me he was a big reason why I came here so I'm taking everything I can from him and being able to work one-on-one with him uh it's paying off for me and I think it's paying off for all the rest of the DBS in the room too and I know they love him too his hands on sorry say again his hands on not uh not really I can't say because he was a obb coach uh then but uh now he's hands- on with us and I know we got three DB coaches now in the room and everybody giving a little something and it's great to hear from a guy who was a head coach a defensive coordinator at a time uh he play he's coached every single position on the defense so he's he's a mastermind when it come about defense so he uh tell us a lot that we need to know so we can go out there and play Fast gave us an example of how he said okay this is when you're at the line you're not going to get this route as often so this is you know why are you taking this approach what is what's an example of what you taught you right for sure it's like uh I remember one thing he said about a certain route like he's like everybody always so scared that the receiver is going to do I don't want to tell y'all his little tricks but like he's like everybody always like Corners we always so scared of receivers going to do this off of this route but like it's like a 15% chance a receiver do that so like he and that's something that last year I learned too and I try to tell my guys over in New Orleans I'm like when you see this route just go so like it's the same thing that Staley saying and I'm glad that he told the guys here because that's the same way I think and that just come with being confident and if they get you they get you okay they going they G to get you two out of 10 times so I'm going take my chances all those eight times so it's the same thing that uh Staley is trying to take uh teach us and it's just taking away routes and when you get certain stems just going and believing in it and don't think twice about it and if it's not that route look at the sideline you take a deep breath and go again thank you
