got your first touchdown how does that feel yes maam uh awesome really excited uh just thankful to be able to make a play and do it in front of the home crowd do you have any family in the crowd tonight oh yeah my whole my whole family was there my sister's out of town playing volleyball uh she plays for UC but everyone else was there aunt and uncle um it's just so cool to have them there take us through that play did you kind of have an idea maybe the ball was was coming to you yeah yeah how it's drawn up uh it's supposed to go to me but you know things don't always go to playing but uh that time it did I got lucky I was ready to make a play and Jackson threw a great ball and I was wide open so when it was called did you feel any extra nerves knowing it could have been that way uh a little bit it's it's I've kind of gotten to the point where I've played enough football to where I'm just kind of I'm just make sure I just do my job focus on um the coaching points and it kind of made it a little harder cuz there was a timeout called right before that or maybe the quarter switched I there was a little extended period of time uh before that play call so it gave me some time to think about it but I just I knew Jackson was going to put it there and uh just from what we saw on tape I was going to be open what what's the mood like with the offense right now after a disappointing night yeah I mean I it's obviously disappointing but a win's a win and uh we're thankful to get him how they come and it's it's hard to it's hard to win in college football um but as an offense we know we just got to improve and get better um just got to get things clicking uh and there's no you know one step fix and way to make it happen like overnight so it's just going to take us coming in going to work every day um and focusing on making each other better and just raising the standard you love the touchdown but how important was that third down catch that almost sealed it yeah the touchdown was awesome but I think the the third down catch might have been a little bigger uh I just really I'm glad they came back to it coach asked me if I could get through on the pop and I was like yeah let's let's do it um that situation you know kind of expecting run so uh I don't know I just kind of did the same thing I did before and it worked I just made a play on the ball and then made sure the guy behind me wasn't going to knock it out so that's what I was focused on I probably could have got a few more yards if I just opened up but I was focused on making sure that ball didn't come out when things aren't clicking what are the conversations like on the side to make sure you don't come out and start pressing yeah yeah it's exactly that it's just hey we just got to execute the basic stuff we don't have to we don't have to press you know our what we do every day is good enough we just have to execute it the way it's supposed to be executed and um just for a lot of the night we just couldn't really get clicking we just got to get that those early first downs uh Drive starters just to kind of get us in a in a rhythm and good things happen but you know we'll just watch the film take it on the chin and just bounce back from it what was Jackson's mind uh mindset on the sidelines as you guys were going through the sh uh he even K just hey we got to keep attacking uh you know we're not going to shy away we're not going to get like antsy and tight we just got to we just got to go out there and execute uh I mean we all made mistakes and I think Jackson did a good job staying levelheaded and um just you know keep trying to execute every opportunity we get Houston wanted to hold on to the ball how hard is that for you guys to try and work yourself into a rhythm when you're sitting on yeah yeah that was definitely something that I noticed throughout the game they really did a good job holding the ball uh I mean just they did a good job staying on schedule and that's something we didn't really do we they' hold the ball and then we'd have a quick three and out and it's just um in a game like that where your defense is playing so good you got to like we as an offense have to uh make sure we can at least hold on to the ball for a little bit longer uh we did a good job of it at the end but um that's just that's a big deal just making sure we stay on schedule when the defense is doing their part you have one more game before SEC is that kind of looming over your head how have you guys kind of prepared for that one yeah I mean it's just doing the same thing we do every week I mean we're just going to prepare we're going to come back in here tomorrow uh and we're going to watch the tape and we're going to start getting ready for two lane and man you know we know the SEC is down the road but um not too far down the road but we know we're just focused on two lane right now so we'll just come in this week trust our process and uh you know just do what we do you talked a little bit about the defense how nice is it to see them make some impactful plays when the offense hasn't night that man they just did a fantastic job it it it just makes you feel good and you know you got a strong team that just doesn't give up uh they just they just did a great job getting us out of out of holes like Grayson hton uh his his his safety I mean unbelievable just like they were it just felt like they were like making plays like that all night just that one being really big obviously the safety you know late in the game but it's just that's what a good team does complimentary football so they did a great job with a conference play just the M around corner uh just what what are just some of the changes that y'all yall feel like you can make on offense well probably need to wash the tape first but and I don't really want to like say too much I feel like we just need to do a better job executing the basic stuff I don't think it's Reinventing the Wheel by any means it's just executing our basic day-to-day stuff cuz we know that's good enough so it's just you know we just got to we just got to execute and do our job me included I I made some bonee head mistakes and I mean I made some good catches but it's just as in whole offense like we just got to execute the stuff we do every day so with the receivers so banged up you guys tight ends pressure on yourselves excited for like more opportunity how's that go uh we're just trying to do what is best for the team you know we're excited for the the opportunities you know we were in some 13 tonight and um you know if receivers are banged up then we're ready for the moment and we're ready to step up so if that's what the team needs uh I know the tight end room is going to be ready and I feel like we've been showing that appreciate you yeah I don't know
