VP Kamala Harris Mollywhopped Trump in the Debate—But Will It Impact the Election?"

General philosophy is this you know debates don't necessarily change much uh especially not in a campaign season like this one where you kind of have two incumbent administrations running against each other right like Harris has been part of the Biden Administration even though she will differ in a way uh Trump has a previous administration but here's what really really got me for the first two and a half minutes I actually thought it was the best debate Trump had ever had uh for the first couple minutes like he was shockingly restrained Harris didn't answer the first question at all the first question was you know are people better off economically now than they were four years ago she just completely dodged that question he didn't do a great job of of of responding to her about that and so you know I was surprised um initially and then I mean I'll be honest with you watch any boxing movie you ever see like a boxing like a Creed movie or or Rocky and you know you always have the guy in the corner being don't Telegraph get an next punch Rocky don't let them know what you're about to do the Democrats spent two weeks leaking to every political newspaper that they could that the goal was to get under Donald Trump's skin and make him look like an idiot and then he fell for it hook line and sinker I mean when she started talking about his crowd sizes and then he goes off on a tangent and starts talking about people eating cats so strategically um Donald Trump lost the debate such that you can lose these sorts of things about 18 minutes in um I think Harris equipped herself very well she had some Banger one liners she did some very smart Callin response things that were clearly intended to be picked up on social media um and now we're back to where we always were I mean I think the the the polls are going to settle for a minute um it's going to be a really really tight race and I don't know that we're going to get a second debate because there's there's no there's no strategic value if I'm on the Trump campaign to him ever getting on stage with her again so I feel a little differently Dr Jason Johnson uh I didn't feel like the first two minutes he uh did well I felt like before they even spoke he bombed when she walked in his space and basically made sure that they shook hands and he didn't want to touch her in my mind I said she's got that's an act of domination that that that's an act when you walk into somebody else's space and say hey kamla Harris I felt like at that moment that moment I said oh she's she's got him and even his opening babbling uh I just F okay I feel like this is the same old Trump same old Trump I think the Curve for him he wasn't crazy say it again yeah it it's so low right I mean like it's so low so I didn't feel like he was he was restrained I felt if you don't want to shake the woman's hand I I just felt like oh when she's got to walk into your space I said oh she's got you already bro she got you and and then I'll add this I know people say that debates don't really matter they don't really have an impact but I think this one will I honestly and truly do you know debates are much different than when you and I were were spring chickens yes uh debates were even much different uh with uh Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump uh I think this will go down as one of the most important televised debates in history um this may go down as one of the most important debates in history uh when I think of Lincoln and Stephen A Douglas that was crucial obviously right but the reason why is because we have social media and so debates exist in Clips right and vice president kamla Harris really gave so many clips that favored her yes and Donald Trump gave so many clips that really kind of ruined him and also it's a debate between a black woman Federal you know former prosecutor who has been attacked disgustingly by the right and the convicted felon I I there were people that I know in my in my my in my family and West Phil they were tuned in mhm I really think this is going to be one of those and it may never be this important again right but I think it was going to be one of those rare moments in history that this and you know I don't really cover polls but I do think and this may be big for folk for for me to say but if debates have any impact any impact whatsoever Donald Trump lost the election on September 10th I'm not saying it's over I'm not saying we don't have to fight I'm not saying that that we don't have to when you get to man we got to play cards I'm telling you last I think when history is written when When Donald Trump loses they're going to look at September 10th and said this well they're not going to say ether like you and I would say but this was the moment where there was no coming back much different than grabbing by the much different than um than uh John McCain insults this this was a moment where let me just put this in there nobody could do this mhm Jeb Bush couldn't do it Marco Rubio couldn't do it Hillary Clinton couldn't do it Joe Biden tried and he got he was out nobody could ether this man like she did last night and I think I truly truly think that this is going to be the watershed moment where where folks are going to look back in history and they may see this video online and say he couldn't come back from it I I I could be wrong though go ahead deeply disagree Mr K I deeply like I vociferously I protest I don't protest too much there I I completely disagree first off I would disagree even in the context of this campaign season because if you're gonna tell me that there was a debate upon which this 2024 election completely hinged and changed if not the very path of American democracy and the sovereignty of this country it would have been June 27th when Joe Biden debated Donald Trump it's all connected though it's all connected though but I would say as far as importance even though it wasn't watched by as many people it was that debate that led to him dropping out of the race you don't have kamla versus Trump getting 57 million people watching it if you didn't have the disaster Biden short cirking so I mean it's all connected the pressure was on her because of what happened in June because this has never happened before in some becom the presential nominee months before an election she's a black woman he's a convicted felon it's like shaa Rimes couldn't write this and the pressure that the bar was so high so high for vice president kamla Harris the bar was so low for Donald Trump and she ethered him on policy on onliners on feeling I think this is going to have a serious serious impact on the election this is this is the moment where I think he really began to lose but go ahead I'm sorry I will say this I think that all that a debate does at this point except for Biden which like I said led to an actual change all the debate does is reinforce and Harden the beliefs or intensify the beliefs that people already have I don't believe you know how i' I've said this all along I've said this all all over the places I don't believe in undecided voters I think it's bunk I think it's Pol people with political bar mentil and syndrome who just want everybody to pay attention to them they're not undecided so I no insult to any particular colleagues of mine who did these kinds of panels but there were no undecided voters what you had the focus groups yeah these focus groups are Shenanigans and nonsense what you have is people with weak partisanship or weak participation but they have an opinion about who they would vote for if they bothered or wanted to actually vote and I think that what this debate did is that if you are a heris supporter yes you're thrilled you're pumping your fish you're like oh she boded him it was great there's memes and everything else like that if you're a trump supporter okay he did a bad job but you're still not GNA vote for her so it's not like anyone's mind changed now for those who sit on these panels and pretend I'm undecided and I don't know what to do who have flimsy arguments like I need to hear more on policy that always makes me laugh because saying that you need to hear more on policy is basically I don't trust you people don't read you could go to any campaign website in the history of America and guess what the donation page has a lot more clicks and hits than the policy page no one is reading the policy pages of presidential candidates so when people say I need her to give more details it just means I don't trust her because clearly you couldn't be asking that question of Donald Trump who thinks that Terror are going to magically solve all of our financial problems I was impressed at how she spoke about foreign policy I thought that was very smart I thought she had a had an ability to relate foreign policy back in the United States I thought was really good I I would say some of the external arguments also were fascinating thank goodness you actually had some freaking fact Checkers and I know that I have some colleagues who disagree with me on this it's funny I talked to Dr Christina Greer for my podcast uh on slate that drops on Friday yeah and Dr Greer was like I didn't really like the the fact Checkers I was like I thought they were great because they prove that for the last eight years when all of these Legacy Media outlets and the politicos and the CNN's and the axios are like I just don't know how to fact check him yes you can yes you can all you have to do is say that's not true and then you move on right ex yeah I mean like it's not super complicated and by the way if you do your research in advance these people knew that Donald Trump had the possibility of stumbling and saying like hey Haitians eat cats right and they weren't just prepared to say that's not true but they're like we talked to the city manager and what was his response I saw something on TV that will be the equivalent of Vice President Harris getting up there and saying I can't wait uh the first thing I will do upon being elected is sign a uh a a Furniture Ikea defense Bill to keep everyone's Furniture safe from JD Vance right and he'll be like uh uh vice president Harris there is no that's outlandish of Jance fol don't know the silly JD Vance couch rumor that's not even a rumor just was made up on the Internet yeah it was a joke yeah it was a joke yeah and if she had said like well I saw it on Twitter or Tik Tok so I say all that to say I was impressed at the moderation of it and again going forward going forward because the polls are going to tighten they're staying fairly consistent um I think that people need to remember also going forward that there's still another debate we've got JD Vance and Tim Walls that's going to be on October 1st that's going to be very very significant because I think JD Vance is JD Vance is smarter than Trump he's just been caught up by his own B yes that he said in order to make himself appeal to MAA people but he's not a dummy I don't think he's going to win because Tim Walls actually knows government right JD Vance has been in the senate for eight minutes Tim Walls is like I've been doing this baby I've been doing this since you were back confused about who and what you were and where you wanted to go right so I don't think that debate's going to go very well for Republicans but I do think again the only way I can sort of agree on the watershed moment is that I think Harris broke the political press in a way that we hadn't seen happen before the New York Times you remember the joke I made about you know how negative the times has been towards Biden and Democrats in general the times the post uh the hill political many of which are now owned by right-wingers you know they just attack people no matter what and I remember saying like in the first presidential debate with Biden and Trump I was like it's so biased against Biden had Trump just gotten on stage and crapped his pants the New York Times the next day would have been like you know Biden refuses to respond to exposive charges I mean they just no matter what Trump does they find a way to excuse it I was amazed that all the headlines the next day were like Harris did great I mean you you saw the super clips of Fox News even the fox they were like yeah that that they had no choice they're they were they were relegated to saying it was a three-on-one fight and then my personal favorite well one of the moderators is also an AKA and I got I got laugh at this one because I think it was like Laura lomer was like well you know one of the moderators was also in AKA and uh Ron philipis who was sort of a commentator on Twitter did this great he he he he sort of quotes the Tweet of Laura lumer he's like look yes they happen to be in the same sorority but it was years apart and at different schools give me a break and lowkey Clay I want to be like oh you don't know how AKA is wrong you really don't you really really don't you think that matter you think that they went to different schools she ain't got her back that's the conspiracy I would believe you know listen um brother I I hear you I I receive what you're saying and I could easily be wrong but I think this is I think it was historic I think it's going to go down in history I do wow and I also think that um she incentivize the non-voter how so and the the the O be because of the way she annihilated him MH because of the way that it permeated in social media and I and and I don't believe in polls but I do believe in the barber shop okay and I was at the barber shop and I've been talking to these dudes for years at this point and this was the first time I believe the barber shop is the real Beltway this was the first time that I that I I felt like uh she really penetrated and I just think because of this election is so unique it is so historic in every sense of the word and there was a big task on her shoulders and we we won't know maybe until until years from now but I think that this is the moment I mean no one has been able to do this this is the moment where folks will say it fell apart for him it fell apart not not for the the Maga base not for them but the majority of Americans don't vote if we can get 10% of them to vote in Philly in Detroit in Atlanta in Milwaukee and we have to sadly over over compensate because we know what his plans are you've been laying this out for months and months and months right uh I think uh I think she did something that nobody else could do I I I really I feel that I'm in my soul I could be wrong
