taking on the Miami Marlins with my partner Chris Singleton I'm John chambi and sing you the big bat in the lineup so far this year CJ Abrams he leads the team and wins above replacement so most days you can expect him to be a big factor for these guys yeah Bo he's definitely a huge piece of the puzzle for this ball Club right now he's just having a really nice year and that's on both sides of the ball not just offensively you talk to guys in the clubhouse the coaching staff they always have great things to say about them and they say that team really looks to him to be one of the onfield leaders day in and day out first pitch coming your way next so almost ready to get underway and today's starting pitcher Sixto Sanchez well he's been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard hard time tracking the baseball maybe it's the release point maybe it's the motion but just some way somehow they've got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side the pitch CJ Abrams stands in here takes ball one low just [Applause] missed two and one now swinging a drive deep right field Sanchez going back on it [Applause] gone he Wast no time on this one his seven home run of the season and they grabb the lead it's one nothing the one thing the pitcher didn't want to happen just happened that's not an easy one to stomach oh you got to love a game that brings some action from the jump and at the plate he was looking for a pitch to absolutely drive and you know lead off hitters aren't up there anymore just working the count trying to get on they're looking to make some noise and do some damage Jesse Winker in the box now no balls in a strike always exciting to see a late off home run and an inning kind of gets the offense fired up and you start to expect a big inning leftand batter weights and a foul ball the real threats are coming up already given up a home run in this inning he's going to really have to bear down and the righty deals swing in a Miss at the ch change up in the dirt gets him one away on a drop third strike way out in front of that inside pitch there and just exactly the opposite kind of approach that you want with two strikes you want to let the ball travel make sure you recognize it try to shorten up so that you can at least put the ball in play clearly fooled but I think even more so you question the two- strike approach and that one wrapped foul one out base is [Applause] empty there's a swing and a drive and it's a one hopper Off the Wall should be extra bases throw a second not in time he's there easily love how he let that ball travel trusted his hands nice job of going the other way [Applause] L and it's second with one away and now it's Luis Garcia and there's a foul ball [Music] oh one down and that's [Applause] outside swing and a miss and it's one and two that one ran inside almost got him one out and a runner at second and we're just getting started here in the top of the first li Drive Gordon snags it for the second out that all right let's take a look at the lineup getting Guys across the plate not exactly a forte for them this year as their offense is in the bottom third of the league and run scored Bo it becomes extremely frustrating and then what happens is guys press especially in run scoring opportunities and situations and on top of that I mean you really make it harder on your pitcher he feels like he's got to be and it stays Fair Browns third headed for the plate the throw in not in time he's safe as a run scores couldn't have timed it up any better than that I was a thing of beauty he may have been a little behind the pitch but by getting that Barrel Into The Hitting Zone early on in his swing he was able to meet it and still shoot a line drive down the line and left Joey Gallow steps to the plate he swings and fouls one off he's given up a couple of runs but the pitch count really not as high as you would think might be able to get through this one under 25 pitches kick sandio swinging a foul straight back [Applause] rander kick deals one ball [Applause] straight Ruiz stands at second with two [Applause] gone check swing now it appeal to Third and he W around not an easy call there but that puts an end to the inning but two runs for him and they jump ahead bottom half of inning number one coming up it's the Nationals two and the Marlins nothing and we're back and on the hill today McKenzie Gore and Chris he's a guy that gets better when things get tough well he's been a real quality starter for his club and coming into this one what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the the year it seems they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone so we'll see how right-handers do against him in this one Luis Ares leading things off and takes a [Applause] strike that's to third lipsko to First and a quick out number one and time now for the Marlins lineup they're facing a pitcher today who's prone to giving up homers so we'll see we might get some big swings here today yeah I think the key though and the reason why gives up those homers is that guys are locking in they're aggressive and they have a high confidence level so I think if that's the approach these hitters take with the stuff he's got there on the M yeah there's a good chance that there'll be some balls that fly a long way but you can't get too big in your swing otherwise you'll be really frustrated after this one one down base is empty and that one sliced foul next offering up [Applause] stairs and strike two ball strike [Applause] kicks and fires great ball two strike well he's so great about hitting the ball the other way he gets those arms extended so right there just trying to straighten him up a little bit so he doesn't have as much outside PL coverage close pitch there you got to forget about that call if you're out on the mound you can't let it affect you going forward youve got to get out of the inning first and then if you want to be frustrated take it out in the Dugout Jazz Chisum Jr stands in now looks at that one inside man at first one [Applause] away bottom of the zone and a cold strike [Applause] in the air to left Center he's got it out number two batting four the first [Applause] Bas here's Josh Bell [Applause] fast ball almost got him there two outs and a foul [Applause] ball the pitch and it's foul away and the pitch and another ball struck Him Out Swinging couldn't catch up to the heater Marlins leave one and they're down two nothing all set for the start of the inning up now for Washington Eddie Rosario Rosario Rosario 32 years old and he was born in Puerto Rico and there's a fly Ball Deep right field that's down one hops Off the Wall throws to Second not going to get him he's in there well a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he's trying to do at this point is help his team win so a man aboard ilaro Vargas digging in for the Nationals line drive and that should be extra bases around third he'll score easily and they're up by three and he starts his afternoon off right with a double didn't take long to get a result for that ADV put a really nice balanced swing on it and when you can rope one into the Gap like that you're thinking extra bases from the first couple of steps out of the box and he'll feel real good about that [Applause] one here's the center fielder a good eye there man it's second not even close there and the count is two and0 Matthew Ross behind the plate pitchers umpire yeah pitchers that work side to side effectively love being on the mound with Ross calling balls and Strikes boo if you can command your stuff on the outer edges of the strike zone he will reward you next offering is in for a strike Christal players ever changed their approach in meaningful ways based on who's umpiring or is it good to just be aware of Tendencies so you're not that surprised I'd say the latter because pitcher got a pitch to her strengths regardless the hitters got a hit to his strength so you're aware of it but you have to just hunt for what you can handle Gordon makes the play run tags second and he makes it up to third with one away the B number five CJ AB here's CJ Abrams to hit he's already homered in this game I wouldn't expect many pitches up in the zone here pitchers looking for a strikeout or a ground ball hoping to keep that runner at [Applause] third fought off foul and the pitch and it's even up he's been trying to tease the Zone with that slider but these hitters have showed patience not going outside the strike [Applause] zone just missed two and [Applause] one ground ball right side throws the first now two away as they get a run [Applause] across here's the third baseman Trey lipam taking his first at bat of the game after entering on [Applause] defense that one finds the Zone strike one Bas is empty two away but two runs are in here the top of the second swing and a highfly ball down the left field but hooking [Applause] foul and that's in [Applause] dir on the ground to Third and that is the inning so they get a couple of runs on two hits no errors and no one left on we go to the bottom of inning number two it's the Nationals four and the Marlins nothing back here at Lone deep park now it's the right fielder Jes Sanchez Gore back to work and first off ring is fouled off leftand hitter Waits and that one is lifted in the air on the move to the alley and there's one down every day during batting practice these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps they practice this and when the game comes they make the play perfectly here's Tim Anderson here's guy who's been struggling so far this year it's only late April but still hoping he'll turn it around soon that one finds the Zone strike one the Nationals leading by four bottom half of inning number two just off the Inside Edge next pitch is outside two one stra on the ground to third slings it across and they take care of Anderson for the out good late bite on that slider got the hit her out in front rolled over on it exactly what he was supposed to do and now Nick Gordon [Applause] first pitch doesn't find the Zone one [Applause] and0 that catches the corner now one miss [Music] [Applause] and there's a ball one two out Bas is [Applause] empty in the air out towards Right Center sizes this one up makes the grab and that'll end the inning [Applause] and welcome back to the ballpark at the play Joey manessis Jo Sanchez back to work to third Rivera tosses to first lead off man retired here in the third good Sinker low in the zone right there and produced exactly what he was looking for ball on the ground nice ground out so next will be the Four Hole hitter for the Nationals Luis Garcia he's over one [Applause] and the first pitch misses for ball one I think this is an important Inning on the mound for him in this game he's got to find a way to settle things down and give some length in this start try to get him to chase on the change up that [Applause] time in the air right side Sanchez makes the grab and there's two down up next to Washington the catcher cber two outs Bas is empty and now the catcher comes up to H Hebert Ruiz doubled his first time [Applause] up that one finds the zone and that is strike one well he left that change up up got away with one there and he'll take it but doesn't want to make that mist take again out to Center makes the catch inning [Applause] over as we go to the last of the third and at the play for Miami Emmanuel Rivera Rivera the pitch that one called the strike one one that's excellent location on the fast B right there early in this game if he can do that all game should be a good outing for him just missed one ball one [Applause] strike he swings and hits a Fly ball center field sizing this one up and makes the grab and there's a one away batting night the catcher Christian and up next for Miami Christian bethan cour trying to pick up his first knock in the big [Applause] leagues popped up to the left into foul ground drifts towards it and there's two away the batter number three second basan Lis Luis arise stands in oh for one so [Applause] far and that one almost hit him straighten him up a little [Applause] bit next pitch is outside [Music] [Applause] in there at the knees for a strike in today's game not that many fast ball counts but hitters still in the back of their minds they're looking for one two change up call right there excellent pitch selection to go with at the belt and fires good eye right there the fish down by four four here in the last half of the third there's a strike [Applause] careful and that's a base hit and that extends the inning well that was one of those high percentage Advantage counts where batting averages are just so much higher I can watch base hits like that they long and so could every hitting coach in the league just a nice line drive into center field now here is briyan Del Cruz fast ball in for a strike it's 0 and one arise leads off first with two down to the inning out towards right center field Gallow in position and that is that one left for Miami Miami they're on the short end of a 4 nothing score as we go to the top of the fourth stepping in the long ball threat Joey Gallow gallow the wine in the pitch and he swings and lifts one to deep center field that's going back back some more that'll make it out of here a gigantic blast and they add a run it's f it that one just sounded different and might have been the loudest moment yet man my ears are ringing I could feel that swing from the booth a good hitter gets pitch recognition early he saw exactly where that was going to be the challenge not get over anxious to come out of your swing he stayed on it and got all of [Applause] it here's Eddie Rosario one for one with a double and a run scored first pitch misses one ball no strike [Music] [Applause] a swing and a miss and that's strike one it's amazing to look up and see 88 miles per hour on that change up back in the day that was a pretty good fast ball but with high velocities these days that speed differential is right where it needs to be righty delivers that one misses and the count is even two and two nobody on nobody out top half of inning number four [Music] hammers that one deep left field and forget it he'll touch them all and they add on it's six nothing and that shot makes their grip on the lead even tighter backto back Jacks and this club is fired up right now boo I mean this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a lineup feeding off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow here comes the skipper and we're going to see a pitching change in this spot six no Sanchez done for the day and as he heads for The Dugout we'll take a quick break new arm on the mound when we get back so the Marlins go with a new arm Dean Cronin and with the big deficit on the scoreboard he almost has to just put that out of his mind every outing matters for relievers in their numbers but I think it's tough to get up for this type of appearance the same way you would for one in a close game now the left fielder IL tomorrow Vargas that's out to center field Chism on his way over one [Applause] [Music] away now B the centerel and now the center fielder he's over for one [Applause] and first off ring is fouled off still only one out here in the [Applause] inning o and two now as he swings through it [Applause] [Music] one down base is empty oh recognize that change up right out of the hand just spit on [Applause] it got him there's two away back to the top of the lineup CJ Abrams now at the plate he's already Homer here in this one on the ground right side and it's off the bag and he beats it he's safe you got to love his hustle down the line to beat the flip to the bag I mean there's a lot going on between a first baseman and the Pitcher during these plays and he just kept his head down and beat it [Applause] out runner at first with two away now the third baseman Trey [Applause] lipam popped foul out of play off to the right Abrams the runner at first with two gone pickoff throw Abrams back on a dive [Applause] runner on the goal pitch misses in and that's a stolen base not even close well I'm sure that still will raise a couple of eyebrows because of this big lead but I think it's more respect for their opponent knowing that they've got to continue to add on if they're going to win this game don't take it as an offense take it as a sign of respect [Applause] through there for a strike next pitch is outside it's a good [Applause] take Man On Second two down gets a piece and stays alive the pitch bounce to the right they limit the damage here but two round Trippers in this inning the long ball was working it's now a six nothing ball game ready to go for the last half of the inning and now for the Marlins Jaz Chisum J chis J and he deals well every pitcher wants run support and having a lead is nice but it can be challenging for some guys I think keeping the mindset to attack instead of trying to be too fine and have too much finesse go after hitters and get quick outs that misses the zone and a count even one and one you know these Marlins just haven't produced as many competitive at bats as I'd like to see in this one they're swinging early being aggressive but one or two pitches later the atat is over that's not going to cut it if it's not resulting in hits so they might want to be a little more selective up there here comes a pitch swing and this one bounc to the ground Ruiz on to First and one gone to the fourth as they get the lead off man the first Bas number nine Josh B Josh Bell at the plate now struck out swinging his first time that one's in there and that's strike one and downstairs [Applause] that Clips the corner two strikes to a guy who's already 0 for one with the punch out the only guy in the lineup with that strike out but you can't get too relaxed you still got to make good pitches to get him out ground ball up the middle Dives but it's off his glove base hit he doesn't have a throw and they come away without an doubt number [Music] 12 down and now the right fielder pesu Sanchez 0 for one with a fly out to Center this to Third and it finds its way through for a hit lead Runner around second throw into third lead Runner holds it third so two runners in scoring position and just one out not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play that's a team to that right there nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep could be a chance here for them to start clawing back into this ball game Tim Anderson will hit next ground it out his first time that one finds the Zone that's strike one two on one out now a screamer into the Outfield and they take care of Anderson for the out runner tagging from third throw is off line and he scores it's 61 so two down now and here is Nick [Applause] Gordon slanging a ground ball the middle that's a base hit around third here's the throw to the plate he will score it's 62 Wast no time there just kept it simple PL Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there's just no one there to knock it [Applause] down man had it first now at the plate Emanuel [Applause] Rivera and that's in there for strike one well he's been incredibly efficient in this one first pitch strike percentage over over 70% that's well above League average and that's what's allowed him to pitch well up into this point and here it comes on the ground to third jump throw across his body in time got him and that'll do it two runs three hits no errors and one left on to the top of the fifth we go it's the national six and the Marlins two back here in Miami ready now for the fifth inning and now up for Washington Joey [Applause] menesses and the pitch and that one pulled foul Cronin 26 years old they got him off of waivers earlier this season well these gats digging into their numbers have to be happy with the swings they're taking it's been a real team effort already seven extra base hits so that goes to show they're getting contributions from top to bottom nobody's doing that by [Applause] [Applause] themselves that misses the Zone ball one [Applause] and another ball this guy's a fun guy to watch taking it bat he just battles up there he doesn't take a pitch off at all makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there you could tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away swings through it for the K chase the fast up the ladder for strike three he came out of his mechanics there typically likes to shoot the ball the other way but that time little anxious so here's the cleanup hitter Luis Garcia and the first pitch misses for ball [Applause] one to get him to chase on the change up that [Applause] [Applause] time and the rander deals outside corner there's a strike that fast ball even though it's up that's the velocity you want to go after low 90s a lot better than trying to hit the high 90s [Applause] and a pitch keeps the it back going with a foul [Music] ball one down base is empty twings and misses it's a strike out snuck the fast ball by him not too often you're going to see a sub 90 mph fast ball give by for the strike especi when it's in a veryable location like that makes me think he either looking for something else completely or he tried to do way too much at that swing Ruiz stands in with two away as he takes a [Applause] [Music] ball two down nobody on and we're at the top of the [Applause] fif that one back up the middle and it gets [Applause] through I don't think that pitch would have been called a strike but he did such a nice job of pulling his hands tight to the body and just getting enough of the barrel on it to be hard enough back up the middle for a knock two outs runner at first and now it's Joey Gallow ripped on the ground to Second arise on the first and they take care of Gallow for the out and that is that Nationals leave one they lead it 6-2 we head to the bottom of the fifth here's the catcher Christian Beth Court there's one thing on his mind this at B get that first hit at the big league level the pitch slides but he can't come up with it Christian bethan cour with his first major league hit and this is a moment I'm sure he'll never forget congrats yeah great moment for him and his family a guy works so hard and has to wait so long for this to happen and when it does can kind of be overwhelming boo you still have to stay locked in on the game but it's great when you could take a minute to just appreciate what you've done and how hard youve worked to get here now it's the Marlins leadoff hitter Luis Aras one for two there's a strike you know these Marlins doing a good job of putting the ball into play and that makes things more challenging on the defensive side one thing that really stands out to me is how they've only struck out one time that's good discipline right there and on top of it they're producing more than a hit per inning and that one fouled off all those numbers mean this offense is really making the defense work by just putting the ball into play Anything Can Happen at that point and a pop up right side foul territory and there's one away up next to the Marlins the designated hitter and now here's the Marlins DH briyan Dela Cruz one and0 in the dirt well done behind the dish kicks and fires that catches the top part of the zone and the count is one and one [Applause] upstairs that one in for a strike two and two good approach right there you want to get something just a little higher that you can Elevate stay out of that double play the high heat too much on that one well when you commit to throwing an inside fast ball to your glove side across the strike zone especially with two strikes if you're going to miss you want to miss off the plate in you do not want to leave it out over the heart of the plate so that was excellent execution on that pitch really tied him up and he couldn't get a piece at all Chism in the box now as he leaves that one up [Applause] high he was late there strike one one strike [Applause] and a good eye there two one the Marlins down by four last half of inning number [Music] five inside just missed GRE [Music] [Applause] one that Clips the inside corner for a strike 3-2 two out runner on first lot of movement in the infield hitters got to stay focused on the pitch fouls that off to the left and will do it again two outs and a foul ball he stays [Music] alive 32 now out to short boots it no throw that's an error and re one is SA number hard to tell exactly what went wrong right there that was a fairly routine ground ball but he just couldn't get it to stick in the glove might have taken his eye off it a little early but regardless you're going to have to work around that error and now the switch hitting first baseman Josh [Applause] Bell and a foul ball [Applause] here's the 02 swing and a Tapper on to First third out so they strand a pair five innings complete it's the national six and the Marlins two and we're back start of the six John shami with Chris Singleton and leading off Eddie Rosario go the pitch close but called the ball one [Applause] and0 looked like it was a little bit [Applause] up that one ripped and it hits the the top of the wall the throw in second but he's in there easily he has had such a good day today I don't think he's going to want to leave when it's over couple of doubles today for the [Applause] DH next to hit for the Nets ilaro Vargas now this is in the air down the line Sanchez ranging after it he makes the grab Runner tags up for third in there safely outstanding catch right there and I love the commitment that he showed he knew that the wall was close but was determined to make that catch and a nice calculation of just how much room he had to try to minimize that contact number 30 up to the plate for the third time as he looks at one down low the one that's down and in rasario stands at third with one gone in the inning [Applause] foul ball there check swing did he go yes he did the two two on the way line drive base hit runner in from third to extend in their lead it's 7 [Applause] to2 anytime you rip a line drive the other way you feel really good about what you did at the plate you trusted your hands you let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it that's great work right there so the lineup flips over and now here's the Nationals leadoff man CJ Abrams right here first pitch doesn't find the [Applause] Zone one run across in the frame so far and we're in the top half of the sixth Cronin with a move to First and he's back in there [Music] swings and misses one and they count one and two a one-w count all these scen as fast balls you've got to expect something off speed stay [Applause] back and they'll do it again [Music] swing and a ball lifted in the air shallow left field he's got it now batt the third Bas Trey lip now the number two hitter Trey lipam [Applause] this one tra to left no doubt about it as they add on more g a massive home run and they add to the lead it's 9-2 already playing with the lead and now they're celebrating a home run they're having a great time out there when you're lacking velocity it's so critical that you move the ball around change speed speeds even try to trick the hitter at times but when you give up a home run right there manager doesn't have a lot of patience because the velocity is not there to overcome and get the swing and Miss here's a new pitcher from the pen Ryan weathers coming on to face ay here and he's been fantastic against him this year his numbers in those matchups are very good and here's the first baseman Joey messus one for three and a foul ball and now the Lefty one [Applause] one with upstairs and it's two and [Applause] one sliced down the right [Applause] side the why to kick the pitch swings and misses pulled the string of the change up Nat's pick up a pair in the Inning on this two-run Homer and it's now a 9-2 ball game you're watching six-run lead at this point got to attack hitters even if you give up a solo shot on the ground right side sends it to first one away that ground ball may have him back on track after the Home Run Nick Gordon and at the play for Miami Nick [Applause] Gordon that one fouled off [Applause] bounced up the middle and that chance handled and he'll just eat it that's an infield single now batting third B Emanuel Rivera getting ready to hit and that's a strike y w foul ball next offering misses and it's one and two Gordon the runner at first with one gone in the inning that's swing and a miss and he's down on strikes and there are two outs the B and here's the catcher Christian bethor known for his rocket arm behind the [Applause] plate pitch misses there and it's w to0 when you're taking your lead over there at first you got to be very careful this guy on the mound's got a good pickoff move and a swinging to miss now there's a pitch we haven't seen in a while it's going to be tough on the hitters if he can mix that in whenever he wants swing and that ball smashed on the line and a superb diving catch what of the most fun and exciting things you can do as an outfielder you lay out you make a diving catch and you end the inning that gets the team fired up in the Dugout and welcome back back to the ballpark top of inning number seven now it's the second baseman Luis Garcia a wi in the pitch and first offering is fouled off the wi of the pitch he swings and fouls one [Applause] off cuts and misses it's a strike wow just great bite to that slider broke hard out of the zone and he just couldn't hold up the swing you know as a hitter that pitch is really hard to take and there's just not much you can do with it you know that but you don't want to get rung up by the Umpire Ruiz in the Box here lets that one go for a ball [Music] the wine in the pitch inside just [Applause] missed swing at a high fly Ball Deep left field a dive and he can't haul it in safe at second with a double third hit for him this afternoon having himself a really nice game at the pl put a pretty good swing on that one as he drove it out to deep left didn't quite have the right combination of launch angle and exit velocity to get it over the fence but you're never going to be disappointed with extra bases one down here's Joey [Applause] Gallow fought off foul and he swings through that one that pitch started in and ended up on the outside edge just changing planes and very difficult especially for a left-handed hitter to track slider got him for strike three well clearly just anxious right there and understandably so in an 02 count you feel like you've got a lot of plate to cover and you don't want to strike out and you end up striking out that's just one of those pitches where it's not over the plate but because you committed to it as it was leaving his hand by the time you realized it wasn't going to be in the zone it's too late to hold up your swing Rosario the batter now as he swings and misses for strike one going to really need to hang in there with that front side against this left-handed breaking ball that one pushed foul runner at second two down here in the top half of inning number seven [Applause] and that one off the outside edge really good take especially with two strikes goes down looking for the strike out a controversial called strike three to end the inning so one left for Washington but they lead it [Applause] 93 we're back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh Kyle finan he's been so good against lefties and here is Luis AR baseball today so many strikeouts and they are available to Pitchers but this is a guy that puts the bat on the ball and is kind of different from the players that we see day in day out calls it in for the out that's s right there tells me he's seing the ball pretty well I know it didn't produce a hit but he made Solid contact and that's all you're looking to do anytime you're at the plate and now the DH Brian Dela Cruz Fast Ball for a strike and it's and one base is empty one away here the bottom of the seven swinging a miss as he was out front that [Applause] time o and two now and ball in this one nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line you know hitter they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn't always translate into the game but right there it did and he did it perfectly and now here is Joey Gallow [Music] one and he deals swinging a miss going and two straight Ruiz stands at first with one out the pitch gets a piece and it stays 0 and [Applause] two they tried to get him to chase on a slider down and Away got him looking he battled for a long time but it finishes with a strike out out you can't be mad at yourself after an bat like that one well he's going to have some thinking to do when he leaves the ballpark after this one that was his third strike out and this one looking obviously so he's been a little overmatched he's got to find a way just to be more competitive up there at the plate Eddie Rosario now at the plate that one is absolutely belted that's back there and that one is out of here another Homer his second home run of the game and they add a pair it's 124 that's their fifth Homer of the game man they're all getting into the action it's starting to feel like a home run derby up here that was one of those home runs where you really don't know if he got enough of it off the bat I mean he put a good swing on it clearly but I wouldn't say he really got The Sweet Spot on the bat the exit V wasn't anything too impressive but it had all it needed for him to circle the [Applause] pillows so up next ilaro [Applause] Vargas fast ball in for a strike one one plenty of offense in this one singy I guess you'd say kind of what we expected though well this was a game looking at the pitching matchup where you expected offense to score and not as lopsided as this um but yeah you definitely expected to see some offense coming up two outs in the air out to Center chisen under it makes the grab and that's the inning but two come across to score in the inning courtesy of this two-run Homer we head now to the bottom of the ninth it's Major League Baseball on the show back here at Lone Depot Park all set for the bottom of the nth now it's the Marlins catcher Christian Beth this is a guy who is very highly regarded defensively fun to watch him control stuff behind the plate Good Game caller good at framing but it's that big arm that really stands out on the ground the throw to first and they get the lead off man in the ninth the battle number three second ban Lis Luis arise the next up for the Marlins a swing and a soft liner and it's caught for the out it's never fun going back to the Dugout after the line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you've done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your [Applause] control ground ball and this should do it oh the throw is wild and this ball is going to wind up out of play fortunately they've got a big lead on the scoreboard so that error shouldn't hurt too much but have to be careful about losing concentration in a game like this can be an easy trap to fall into so two down and up next for Miami Jazz Chisum Jr that misses the zone and that's ball one [Applause] that's a little bit low well no need to go right at this guy first base is open he can hurt you so make him expand his Zone if he doesn't give him a walk man it's second right through there for a strike he must have been looking for something else cuz he gave up on that pitch a little early it was right down Main Street probably not going to see a better pitch to hit in this back just off the outside edge three and one man on second two down and there's a foul ball finnean is just one strike away out towards left Center makes the catch ball game and the Nationals take this one in a blowout well I'm not sure if he expected to get nine outs in this one but he had the gas in the tank to get it done kind of a throwback save for this guy today but helps the team get the win as you can see they're pretty happy about it and they're celebrating his performance in this one 124 is the way this one finishes for Chris Singleton and our entire crew I'm
