My goodness. This high school football season is literally flying by. Can you believe week five, that's five games down five games ago in a regular season. Hello, everyone. I'm Dom Tiber and welcome to 1st and 10 and I'm Dave Holmes. You also might notice we have a little purple theme going tonight. Everyone at the station celebrating and remembering Dom's daughter Maria by wearing purple, her color. This Sunday is the 10th anniversary of her tragic death, Tommy. We love you. I love you guys. I'm very thankful for all the love and speaking of purple, big game this week featuring the Stallions of De Sales hosting those silver nights of Bishop Reedy. This is the first meeting between the two schools in 37 years and the de sales cheerleaders with some love for our Yolanda Harris. Here we go. Nice. Yeah. Who doesn't love Yolande? We'll pick it up in the first quarter and the sales defense playing big, he liked Charles the pick right there. He knows what to do. Brings it back 25 yards for the touchdown. Stallions led seven to nothing and they're not done still in the first quarter and true freshman quarterback RJ day. That's the son of Nina and Os U coach Ryan Day and RJ hook it up with PJ Knowles for the touchdown. Stallions led 14 nothing. They led at 1.21. Nothing but give credit to Rey. This game goes to overtime and my goodness, the Silver Knights, congratulations. They pull it out 43 42. Upper Arlington three and one on the season. But the last time the Golden Bears played a road game, they came up short against pick North tonight. The Bears on the road against Groveport Madison. Let's pick it up in the second quarter, scoreless game. Madison football knocking on the door. Rashad King takes it in for a cruiser touchdown. They lead seven nothing upper Arlington responds. Kyle Cox finds Wally swiney good little chunk play over the middle before he's knocked out of bounds and the Golden Bears cap it off. Cox finds Trent Wolpert for the touchdown. Upper Arlington falls behind early but they rattle off 21 unanswered to win it 21 to 7. So we have two good games there to start the show. How about the Rey, the sales game? My goodness eight matchups left here on 1st and 10 and right now we're going to pass things over to our man, Adam King who has us covered under the lights. The best part about week five, we have rankings and with rankings come upsets tonight, a top five team in the state going down. But first Thomas Worthington, they've lost just one game this season but the Cardinals not ready to their own horn yet. Or Tuba that is Westland and Thomas Worthington, the strategy here, just let it fly. Amani Smith is down there somewhere. Call him Randy because he's out there, Moss and defenders six to nothing. Westland leads and, you know, they say seeing a Cardinal is good luck. I don't know if this is luck, but more so Isaiah Bowers is just that good jersey untouched and Isaiah can take a bow a close one in the first half. 7 to 6. But in the second, it's all about the Redbirds. They win 38 to 12. Not a third ranked Hilliard Davidson versus Olen Tangy Berlin who needs a student section. When you have a sideline. This hyped up Davidson down 17 to nothing. Come back on the mind, Mikey Clark going to help with that. You serious Clark that sets up this from Kevin Gibbon. Did he get in? Well, that guy as he did. So that's the important part. Davidson celebrates with the Bears. They just drain the clock in the fourth quarter. This a toe tapper to keep their drive going. They would add another field goal, extend their lead 20 to 8 and it's lights out for Davidson. Hilliard scores on the final play of the game. It's all about the Bears tonight taking down the number three ranked team in the state, our kids execute. I mean, they're really well coached. They do a nice job, you know, controlling the football. They do a great job on defense. So for us to pull off a win tonight, thank God we're at home because I think that helps a lot. But for us to pull off a win tonight is something special for our kids. The season of upsets is here. Although it doesn't feel like much of an upset this Berlin team showing how dominant they are tonight. I know we have other top 10 teams in action on 1st and 10. So let's go back to you guys and see if there's any more upset. Thank you, Adam. Big time matchup tonight at Westerville North. The Warriors are 4 to 0 under new head coach and former Buckeye Stanley Jackson. But tonight they host the Delaware Hayes Pacers who are also 4 to 0 on the season, who gets the first four to play third quarter game tied at seven. Delaware football not for long pass picked off by Javier Matthews who takes it back for a big time return all the way inside the Pacers 10 yard line Warriors in business. They convert Ronald Jackson to Brian Robinson touchdown. Warriors. They lead 14 to 7 Westerville North trying to lock it up. Jackson goes to Vari Adams deep ball gone 80 yard touchdown for Westerville North except it's called back a legal man downfield. So that opens the door for Delaware. Hey Pacers down seven chance to tie at final seconds. Jake Loman's pass batted down at the goal line. Westerville North. What a story remaining undefeated 14 to 7. All right next up, we head to Westerville Central those Warhawks hosting the rocks of Dublin Kaufman and we will pick this one up in the first quarter and Kaufman comes out driving quarterback Quin Hart hooks up with Armani Valeo Hudson for a nice pickup. The Rocks would have to settle for the field goal. Matthew Schram is good from 33 yards out. Rock had three to nothing central though. Comes back. Check out Jason Guen goes to Macy O Harper for the five yard touchdown seven Warhawks on top second quarter central one more. This time, Gwen goes to Elijah Harris 10 yard touchdown. Warhawks led 14 to 6, 4th quarter time running out central up 29 28. Kaufman pulling it out, Matthew Schrom. You know, they call him Matty Ice. 52 yard field goal is good as time runs out. Are you kidding me? Kaufman wins 31 to 29. So that is six day games down, but we still have more four more to go. But boy, that was fun to watch ending Matty Ice Ice. Well, when we come back, we're going to check in on the city league, Walnut Ridge south east and Mifflin, you're on deck 1st and 10. I'll be right back. Yeah. How sweet is that love the passion and the beat there by the Thomas Worthington drum court. Yeah. Nothing like high school football on a Friday night. We have you covered tonight with four more games here on 1st and 10. Yeah, we're going to head to the city league, the Bulldogs of South hosting the Scots of Walnut Ridge, the Bulldogs off to a three in one start while Walnut Ridge has just one win. Bulldogs. they are fired up for this one. Yes, they are. Third quarter South up 24 22 wanting more. Simmons goes to N Johnson Junior and he knows what to do. He's going to take it in for a touchdown and the Bulldogs led 31 to 22 later and the dogs driving again, Deshaun Simmons picking up the first down, look at him running hard and that's going to set up the touchdown. It worked so well the last time. Why not again, Dave, why not again? Do it again to Sea Simmons in for the touchdown. South wins 46 to 22. Next we head to Dublin Jerome, the Celtics hosting the Jaguars of Hilliard. Bradley got to love the Jerome Marching Band. They are outstanding second quarter tied at 14 and here comes Hilliard Bradley Kale coming right at you end of the end zone. He goes and the Jaguars led 21 to 14. The Celtics come right back, an eight play drive topped off here by Nolan peoples, a beautiful pass to Brayton Alfred and we're tied at 21 at the break, third quarter and Bradley going to show you why they are undecided. No, quit undefeated. Rather no quit from these guys. Brayden Flaherty can't find anyone open. So he takes off and end of the end zone. He goes for the touchdown. Hilliard. Bradley wins 40 to 35. The Grove City Greyhounds look the part this season, an impressive 3 to 1 to start the year but never easy when you go on the road and tonight those greyhounds making the trip to Marysville to face the Monarchs. It was youth football night in Marysville. Those are all the monarchs of tomorrow running through the helmet there, Grove City takes control from the opening possession. Matthew Pappas finds Luke Mullins 25 yard pass right up the gut touchdown Grove City, they lead seven nothing. It was a beautiful night for flying and Papa took advantage through the air next greyhound possession. He goes deep to JJ King. No relation to our Adam King. As far as I know, maybe he is, who knows? 50 yards. It's 14 nothing Grove City third series for the Greyhounds ends just like the first two. Aidan mckinstry, 15 yards pretty much untouched. Grove City comes out like Gangbusters and win their fourth of the year 49 to nothing. We finish up in the city league, the Mifflin punchers on the road against the East Tigers the East high school band rocking out at halftime. That's how Dom dances too. Then in the third quarter, their team matches that energy. East trails 8 to 0 with the ball. Tajan Burns goes 18 yards for a Tiger touchdown. Two point conversion is good game tied at eight and tries to respond pass picked off by Darian Matlock. Dom. I bet you used to watch Matt Lock. Absolutely. He reminded me of the guy from the Andy Griffith show. Yes, a lot. Really? Next play, Tawan Burns goes 40 yards for the touchdown. East Tigers lead 14 to 8. They go on to beat Mifflin 30 to 14. Really hammering home the target demo with that Andy Griffith reference to I remind you of or what do you talk about that? So we got 10 up, 10 down that concludes week five and also concludes the 19 fifties television references, I promise. And uh, Adam the King, that's what we call him, but we are far from done when it comes uh to uh this week's uh 1st and 10. We have our plays of the night when we return and welcome back to 1st and 10 right now. It is time for our top plays of the evening. Yes, we had so many good ones to pick from, but only a few good enough to be our top plays of the night. And we start with Westland and Amani Smith who just wanted it here goes up over the top and rips it off the defender's back for the major league touchdown, you know, kickers deserve love, especially when your nickname is Matty Ice. And you kick for Dublin Kaufman and you make a 52 yarder to win the game. I might, yeah, we finish with this one from JJ King. Beautiful pitch and catch off the fingertips for a 50 yard touchdown. Well, hey, if you know a student athlete who excels in school sports and service, nominate them to be our 10 TV athlete of the week sponsored by Inko insurance. Just get on tent dot com slash of the week. Now. Moving on the Ohio State football team back in action tomorrow with the hilltoppers of Western Kentucky coming to town for a rare 4 p.m. kick and that means an air attack. Ladies and gentlemen, coming to the horseshoe, the hill toppers will definitely throw the football the second they get off the bus. They will, they're led by senior quarterback, Austin Reed, you know, he led the nation last year in passing, throwing for nearly 5000 yards and 40 touchdowns. It's very different than the last couple of weeks. Just almost the exact opposite of what we faced in the last couple of weeks. So I think our guys are kind of fired up for it. I think they're up for the challenge. You know, they want to D BS want to get challenged, they want action, you know, the defensive line has got an opportunity to get up to the quarterback. They're going to throw it like this, find out kind of where we are and you can see all of that interview tomorrow from 9 to 10 in the morning right here on 10 TV. Game time with Ryan Day. The official coaches show of the Buckeye football team. You have Ohio State winning big. I do 52 to 14. I got 56 to 21. Why do I feel like you just made that up on the fly? Because that's the way I roll. Felt spontaneous for Adam the King. We're out.
