Intro are there any places in all of the holy land that I can take you to and look you right in the eye and say with 99% certainty Jesus of Nazareth God In the Flesh wasn't just in the area but actually placed his foot on this exact Stone well I'm here to tell you but Validating Archaeological Discoveries first we have to set the scene oh and if you're a skeptic you are completely welcome here your doubt and your questions do not scare the god of the Bible but let me assure you my friend Jesus is a very Real historic person even the famous New Testament critic Bart man said and I quote there are several points on which virtually all Scholars of antiquity agree Jesus was a Jewish Man known to be a preacher and a teacher who was crucified in Jerusalem during the reign of the Roman Emperor Tiberius when Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea you see stepping into Israel for the very first time can be overwhelming and frankly a little uh disorienting like you'll be driving and to your right eyes are overtaken by Mount Carmel rising in the distance the very place where Elijah called down fire on the prophets of Baal and then you'll look to your left and see a Google office building you see over the centuries the land of Israel has been conquered and destroyed and then rebuilt burned down torn apart and then brought back to life the land is a story of magnificent buildings becoming ancient ruins layers upon layers of history have been compiled one on top of the other for thousands of years so what I'm basically trying to say is this not much is exactly the way it was in biblical times in fact almost nothing is now to help you visualize this layering of history there are areas kind of sprinkled around the current old city of Jerusalem with these like vertical shafts or like archaeological openings that let you look down like way down and see the different street levels of ancient Jerusalem I mean just look at the oel or the gavat parking lot excavation I mean you just have era on top of era then you have to determine those layers is this I don't know Stone floor for example from the earli Islamic period or the Roman era or maybe first Temple Times how they determine all of this is a discussion for another video but the point here is this it is really really difficult to find things that have not changed a lick in 2,000 years difficult but not impossible you see you have to marry these three things the biblical accounts tradition and modern archaeology now I don't want to step on too many toes but a decent number of the famous locations in Israel are nothing more than Traditions created over hundreds of years folks would make you know once in a lifetime pilgrimages to the Holy Land over the centuries and they wanted to touch the stories that they've heard in the Bible so some opportunistic folks gave them stones to touch and so Traditions were created now I'm not going to name names because I don't want to ruin certain images in your parents' photo album from their trip to Israel but no that stone was added about a century ago not 2,000 years ago and no that isn't the real location of the town of I think you get the idea so let's just be accurate let's be precise you and I live in a remarkable time in human history to have the Bible in one hand and advanced scientific archaeology in the other and when those things match up then we freak out and no one likes a good biblical archaeology geek out and yours truly so let's reveal some exact spots that Jesus actually touched well the southern steps Jerusalem's Temple Mount of the Temple Mount are a sight to behold but here's what's wild there is a uh like a choke point where 2,000 years ago most folks would have entered the Temple Mount now today this entrance is blocked off but are you ready for this modern science tells us that the pavement Stones directly beneath those entrances are original from New Testament times now we know from the gospels that Jesus went up to the temple so again take the Bible marry it with the latest in the field of archaeology and right there you have a perfect Bingo now when I used to lead trips to Israel the entrance to the Temple mount on the southern steps is one place where we would tell everyone here right here is one place that with like 99.7% certainty that we can say that Jesus wasn't just near here but he walked on these exact stones that are currently below your shoes but punch in here for a second why do these locations matter it's not the Rocks these stones are not magical they simply testify to the unfathomable that the word of God became flesh and made his dwelling among us that he who just like breathed two trillion galaxies into existence became a real historically verified human being and walked on pavement that you and I can still walk on today because in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God and the Word was in very real tangible places that you and I can put our hands on and while he physically walked and talked and ate and laughed and cried and loved and taught all over the very real land of Israel God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God the Bible says he shall be called Emmanuel which you know means god with us and my point here is for us to appreciate that literally okay let's reveal another Synagogue Where Jesus Taught location Matthew 4:23 says Jesus went throughout the Galilee teaching in their synagogues but if only we could find a synagogue that was around during the time of Jesus in the Galilee that I don't know sort of was like miraculously buried and perfectly preserved for 2,000 years only to be discovered with like the Rival of mar archaeology like 15ish years ago turns out that is a exactly what happened in 2009 they discovered a synagogue in magdala right along the shores of the city of Galilee and we know from the ancient Jewish historian Josephus that magdala was destroyed by the Romans in 67 ad so for not like 125 years or like 350 years but for 2,000 years this synagogue hasn't changed a bit it's like a Frozen in Time Instagram of the exact moment the Romans decimated the city a mere 30ish years after the death burial and resurrection of Jesus so marry the biblical accounts with extra biblical sources and modern archaeology and bingo you can put your hands on the stones in magdala and say with 99% certainty that Yeshua the Messiah touched this exact spot but we're not trying to make a comprehensive list here in this video like for example Evidence Of Jesus the pilgrimage Road currently being excavated under the city of David is another location that would almost certainly qualify for this discussion but it's the message of these stones that are shouting out what's important Our God isn't some distant pantheistic cruel and like grumpy entity that needs your rituals and self-righteousness to be pacified no he's personal he's relational he's in the trials and struggle with you he's close and he loves you sacrificially and it's nothing we've earned or deserved the message is that he's so near that he came and walked in places that you and I can touch like right now so be encouraged my friend he walked this Earth and he will never leave you and he will never forsake you and that's why we created this channel it's called can I trust the Bible because we want to give you a renewed joy for scripture and that scripture that word became flesh and we want you
