A Jets Super Bowl Would Greatly Enhance Aaron Rodgers' Legacy | THE ODD COUPLE

all right uh Rob this going to be an interesting segment I asked Rob G to come in Rob and share his Super Bowl pick now you know mine is Ravens over Packers do you have your full Super Bowl pick yeah I did I told you yesterday over the Eagles right Ravens over the Eagles and Rob G's got a interesting pick Rob Parker I I don't know if you know it but I think you're going to uh yeah he told me about intrigued okay and this is when I thought he should uh be back on overnights producing Ben malor after this tap oh I'm sorry you say that like it's disrespectful I would love Ben are you kidding me you don't want to work those hours though that's my formative years with Ben merer you want to go back to work at 11:00 at night okay that's my point that's all I'm saying but to get to my Pi you know I'm the biggest Ben maler guy going here you know see now you got Rob all all worried Rob G full disclosure I like his wife more than like B Aaron's the the best Aaron is the best she awesome she's so much you know she is I remember dancing at the party uh in Vegas people say the same thing about Chris RAR they say that his wife is much more fun to be around really that's what I heard Crystal's we have fun we all hung out we hung out in was it Miami yeah yeah she's great she was more fun than you what am I saying yeah I'm one of those people then who says that she's more fun to hang out with I don't know about all that I like her but but in any event in the NFC it was not like a big shock I went with the San Francisco 49ers that's the lazy pick the lazy I I I I I I I respect that because Rob like we've said are they gonna get back I mean five years knocking on the door haven't gotten over the hump that's a lot of emotional baggage to overcome so if Rob G I will say this I didn't pick them to get to the Super Bowl last year because I felt like the Brock py story as much as I like him and think he's a very good quarterback I was just like man it's too good to be true this is who going to come out of nowhere and and after a while how many times you going to get there Chris like like I agree with that like yeah so to do it I mean I part of why I'm not picking I'm like again it's so story book I think he could get a Super Bowl in his career um but I don't I just don't feel like it's this year but but go ahead so my reasoning quickly so is this music for this was put on un intentionally it's for the pics okay that's I I appreciate it see that's why Mary gets the big bucks I got it my reasoning to do it is because as you mentioned Chris yesterday I don't think dvo samel is going to be here next season I'm not sure if some of their defensive players will be back next season just because the the idea has been permeating throughout the NFL that you can't pay everybody and they gotta pay Brock py they just paay Trent Williams just pay Brandon auk just pay Christian McCaffrey so this team is going to look much different next season so I think this is almost like a Last Dance type effort for them and they they get to the Super Bowl and eventually they win it and Shanahan I mean come on like how many times is he gonna fall short absolutely uh a million I don't think he's ever going to win but my pick you think he's ever going to win a Super Bowl no qu I I don't I think he'll defin only because you know how many Super Bowls he was close to like how many Chris three right I mean he was right there that he could he could be three and0 in the Super Bowl OC of the the but that but he was a big part of that team exactly yeah no doubt and and he has to he has to wear that with those two passing plays but anyway go ahead Rob and last one this I guess is the Shocker that we want to talk about in the AFC I really really wanted to pick the Chiefs I and you mentioned to Chris I think they're better this year than they even were last year so My Head says take Kansas City the problem is they have all the history working against them and until I see like Rob Parker says until it happens you're never going to think it can happen right and so I don't think that they are going to be able to seal the deal and get the repeat so I went with the New York Jet tropolitan oh my god wow wow Aaron Rogers does just enough to let that defense same way that Tampa Bay Bucks did with Tom Brady carry them to the promised land and Aaron Rogers makes just enough plays to get to the Super Bowl and ultimately L you know what and I'll say this Rob G and change the conversation about him and his legacy if he gets that franchise to the Super Bowl oh no it would be am huge for Aaron R for a guy that's already an all time like alltime alltime he's already an elite alltime grade but you're right Rob like usually a guy who's on his level uh could not really I mean he's done so much is like well and it's not like he's never won he's already won so it's not like he's a quarterback that doesn't have a Super Bowl but Chris to take this franchise which has just been God awful for a long time and the deliver a Super Bowl after missing last year too after four snaps it would be it would definitely be huge there's no ifs AMS or buts about it um here's look I got the Jets winning that Division and getting to the playoffs obviously I I gotta be H like I don't think they can get to the super will get to the Super Bowl you certainly can say if they win the division and Buffalo's still going to be tough I think Miami's tough like if they win that division they're clicking right it's worked and they they you'd have to think they have a shot because that would mean Rogers is playing fairly well if not really well but Aaron roders and I've been saying this for years his performance in NFC Championship Game games bothers me and I if they got to the AFC Championship game I don't see myself picking him I mean because this is a guy who doesn't throw interceptions that's like his claim to fame or one of his claim to FES his greatest claim to fame probably that he was the best quarterback in the history of football at protecting the ball and yet in five NFC Title Games he's got nine touchdowns and eight picks even the one he won I think he had one touchdown and two picks when they won the Super Bowl and so I look that's just his history it it doesn't necessarily have to repeat itself but that's kind of Rob what you're talking about the knock that's one of the knocks on Rogers and so he'd have to he really have to convince me before I'd believe he was going actually go all the way to the Super Bowl because Rob those two MVP years the last two MVPs in Green Bay I mean they looked like they were Super Bowl bound and he lost to Jimmy garoo the Tom Brady you can accept that but you know he lost to Jimmy G so that's one of my issues Rob G with Aaron roders going all the way to the Super Bowl as much as I like you know what the Jets got going yeah no I think that's fair and and but like I said and part of my rationale for picking the Jets is it's similar to what happened with Tom Brady his first year in Tampa he Tom Brady was led by that defense that first year well he was he played well he he was F he was good but the defense is what got them there yeah but here's the only the Jets have a have a really good defense I I just wonder um does all the stuff like when they didn't have a quarterback like you just automatically assume everything is going to be as is you know add quarterback uh Add Water stir and you're going to win and that's what they thought in Denver okay that's what they didn't they think that in Denver Chris when they with with pton no with Russell Wilson when they got him they had the defense and remember they even came up with a stat if they would have averaged 19 points they would have won like 14 gam 13 G at 40 years old I would be I would be floored if Rogers looked his back is wrestle no I'm not saying I'm just saying that people thought just oh we got a quarterback now we'll with the defense it'll just happen and I'm saying to you they don't have a great coach uh what if the defense is uh tapped out or just doesn't play as well I me their defense is stacked I'm just saying uh I'm I'm not there I just Rob G I like the pick for stepping out there I just don't see it I just don't yeah Rogers actually that NFC title game the one that he's won he's W and four he had no touchdowns and two interceptions in a win over Chicago but um as far as the Chiefs Rob G because that's another part of your you know rationale for not picking them uh or for picking the Jets here's the thing and we know no team is won three straight Super Bowls but the Green Bay Packers first the Green Bay Packers won three straight champion ships twice they're the only team to do it now one of the times the first time was in the late 20s early 30s so obviously that's just a whole different game and so is the 60s but still they did it Rob their first they W in 65 I guess it would have been and then when the that was a championship game it wasn't the Super Bowl but then the next two years they won it was called the Super Bowl so they Green Bay won the first two Super Bowls and a championship the year before it became the Super Bowl the NFL Championship right right so they've they won somewhat in the Super Bowl era they essentially did it and I I'm not again obviously I'm picking the Ravens so I'm not predicting it for the Chiefs but I will say I mean they they do appear to be like of any team that's kind of been set up to do it I mean they look better on paper Mahomes is in his prime the defense is still is is top of the line they added speed not only Xavier worthy but Hollywood Brown will be back at some point like they they are they really I think they have a an excellent shot at doing it uh if anybody is going to do it yeah I'm not convinced either I I I mean I'm I'm not convinced I just think that there are other teams out there that uh we'll get it and I just and I still think that Baltimore will ultimately get it together and finally get over the hump and it'll be it'll come at the expense we also I've seen Joe burrow beat uh the Chiefs and he'll be back if he's healthy Chris you know does he knock them off in some playoff game or something they play next week so that you know what I mean like like there there's somebody there there's just a lot he's three in one regular season against the Chiefs yeah there just a lot he's the one quarterback who's had some success against M and even on the road you know what I mean in in Kansas City so those are the things that that make me just think it It could wind up being tough quickly for our choice right and and again I think the Ravens can beat the Chiefs if they eliminate the self-inflicted wounds but the the reason I picked Baltimore last year Rob is because I thought the Bengals could get the Chiefs in the playoffs beat them and then the raven beat the Bengals because the Ravens have owned the Bengals including Joe burrow uh Lamar's 4-1 against Joe burrow go ahead Rob G well that was actually going to be my question because you guys both picked the Ravens and history says you know we say about the the Jets not winning historically the Ravens historically do not beat the Chiefs so for that to happen are you guys kind of banking then on one of these other teams whether it's the Bengals or the Jets well it could happen to get the Chiefs I mean you just don't know you don't know about injuries a bad game Rob G you know like there's a lot of stuff that could happen I don't think that like the Ravens can't beat them uh under any circumstance last year they played a horrible game in the AFC and lost by what' they lose by 10 10 points or no seven 1 to 10 cuz like Rob that was my issue and they got shut and and and uh Kansas City got shut out in the second half sure and that was my issue Switching gears to the Lakers last year is if they didn't have to play Denver I would to pick them to go to the finals cuz I didn't I didn't see anyone in that area that give them problems but I thought if they had to go through Denver they weren't going to make it so is that's the situation you see with Baltimore well the Chiefs are let's just face it the Chiefs are the King of the Hill and you have to go through I said this on TV today for Lamar the Chiefs are what Isa what the Celtics word of Isaiah Thomas and what the uh Michel Jordan right and everybody doesn't do it remember the war the uh the the uh Sacramento Kings of Chris Weber and those guys could never break through now they didn't have a player on the caliber of Lamar a two-time MVP I was just going to say right Portland right with those great teams couldn't be break through and get past the Lakers um but yeah I mean Lamar's gonna have to find a way to do it he they the Chiefs are great um they've had his number there's no question about it but if you watch these games if they just don't make these self-inflicted wounds and may maybe some of it is that they're tight because they're playing the Chiefs I don't know but they can beat them I believe and whether they go through them or somebody else um they they you know it's going to be a challenge for them
