e the national desk America's news now [Music] breaking overnight officer killed this is a very tragic circumstance her heart goes out to the officer the search for a suspect and a shocking mishap with a gun taking an officer's life in the nation's capital assassin Insight the subject conducted more than 60 searches related to President Biden and former president Trump we are getting our first look at the gun used by Thomas Crooks as the FBI releases new info about the Trump rally shooting interiew view anticipation kamla Harris has not given any specificities let alone any vision of what she really wants to do from a public policy position vice president Harris set to face her first formal sitdown and critics question why she won't be doing it alone and parental pressure as a parent now I have failed because I lost control of myself when I asked her to control her own emotions why raising kids today is getting a public health advisory live from the nation's capital this is the national desk America's news now I'm Amir David in for Jan it is Thursday August 29th and today Americans are expecting Democratic Presidential nominee kamla Harris to explain her policy positions none are listed on her campaign website it's been over a month since the vice president became the nominee accepting the nomination a week ago without doing any kind of formal interview but that is set to change today and she will not be alone in this interview running mate Tim Walls will be at her side one critical assessment in the Wall Street Journal writing this is a deliberate attempt to limit the potential exposure risks for the vice president walls will be there with a parachute to rescue the presidential candidate if she has a rough go Mark Bo is standing by at the live desk and Mike lots of anticipation around this interview a lot of folks waiting to hear what VP kamla Harris has to say as she holds her first TV interview as the Democratic Presidential nominee this comes on the heels of her Georgia bus tour her first public appearance since the DNC now tonight's high stakes interview is her first chance to roll out her policies on a range of issues for voters it's the first time she's agreed to a sitdown interview in the 39 days since becoming the nominee right now we're just 68 days away from election day and still growing questions about her policies on immigration and international economic concerns as well her lack of access has become a key point for critics Arkansas Republican senator Tom Cotton had this to say on Wednesday on Fox K Harris hasn't changed her position on trying to take health insurance away from 170 million people who get their health insurance on the job she hasn't changed her position on say decriminalizing illegal immigration and then giving illegal aliens health insurance at taxpayer expense but you know Pete even if she said those things we would know that they're all lies we know that she has a record that record goes back years in public office that's what she believes that's what's in her heart whatever she says now to get through the last 10 weeks of this campaign is what the she thinks is politically expedient we will see how Harris responds tonight the interview will be hosted by Dana Bash it will be pre-recorded then we air in part later tonight on CNN at 900 p.m. eastern time all right Mark thank you and one comma Harris policy getting more attention these days is the proposal to tax unrealized gains this is when people get taxed over investment gains that only exist on paper the Harris walls ticket proposing a 25% tax on unrealized capital gains for people with more than a hundred million in wealth one Harris campaign rep got grilled over that very issue if you were taxing unrealized gains all you're doing is pulling forward the taxes that would be paid later when someone actually sells the stock I I I I think that this reaction to unrealized gains is a little funny given that I bet that the majority of people watching right now are already paying a tax on unrealized gains it's called a property tax tax when the value of your home goes up that's an old tax when the value of your home goes up you pay higher taxes even if you don't sell your home your value of your home never moves the way stock moves the way something always the go to answer and those hosts said the tax is likely unconstitutional one projection says the tax could lead to nearly $800 billion in new government revenue the Border another topic voters are waiting to hear Harris weigh in on as the candidates suggest that she has evolved on her position the national desk Christine fow breaks down what we now know about the recent changes now viewed as attempts to move the candidate more toward the center vice president kamla Harris out on the campaign Trail powered by momentum and a modified message as president I will bring back the bipartisan border security bill that he killed and I will sign it into law that bipartisan border Bill includes 650 million dollars to build new and fix existing portions of the border wall a wall featured prominently in a recent campaign ad fixing the border is tough so is kamla Harris it's a stance that's changed drastically since she ran for president the last time when in a post on Facebook she called Trump's border wall a complete waste of taxpayer money that won't make us any safer this Administration has decided to vilify them and to trade on them for the sake of This president's medieval vanity project called a wall her opponent and his supporters assert she had no role in negotiating the Border Bill and accuse her of lying about her position to try to win more votes do you really believe she's going to build a wall that's just bull she's had four years to build a wall and she's done nothing for the last four years they've turned every Trump policy upside down that prevented illegal immigration and we're being overrun with 10 million people warnings about those large numbers of people now in the country have been mounting from Top intelligence officials I've never seen a time where all the threats or so many of the threats are all elevated all at exactly the same time those new threats along with shifts in voter sentiment could be reasons for the pivot we can be a nation of immigrants who love of their country and a nation with a secure border the Harris campaign insists while the bipartisan border legislation was tough it was also Broad and included things like better technology to catch drug smugglers her campaign website so far is mostly absent of any official policy positions in Washington I'm Christine fow Christine thank you despite Harris pledging to bring back the Border Bill one of its authors Oklahoma senator James Langford says it won't be revived many Republicans voted against the bill because it would have allowed a certain number of illegal entries every day and a controversial program that let migrants apply for us entry that was paused over Mass fraud concerns could be brought back NBC news reports the Biden Administration May revive the program this week with new vetting the program lets migrants from Cuba Haiti Nicaragua and Venezuela apply for legal entry if they have a sp in the US but the program was halted last month after the Department of Homeland Security found almost 101,000 sponsor applications were quote serial sponsors repeats that could indicate fraud Republican critics have claimed the program contributed to the migrant crisis by allowing the government to fly undocumented migrants into the United States more than 300,000 migrants have arrived under the program since it began last year and we're also following the arrest of an illegal migrant accused of killing a journalist ice arrested Jorge Alberto Martinez Sanchez when he was in court in Louisiana as he was being arraigned for negligent homicide charges authorities say he was speeding without a license when he struck and killed a New Orleans TV news producer I said Martina Sanchez entered the US illegally this morning we are tracking severe thunderstorms in the midwest Montana and The Dakotas hit overnight now I and Minnesota are expected to see those storms tonight a live look over the radar here behind me and St Paul to my left where they will brace for those impacts today here's a closer look at the area that can see the threats tonight including hail flooding and the possibility of tornadoes Minneapolis in that slight risk Zone zone two for some of those storms spanning all the way from De Moine through Minneapolis today this morning we are tracking the cleanup efforts from the storms earlier this week Michigan still feeling those impacts that the storm knocked out powered tens of thousands of people right now more than 115,000 customers in the dark at the same time we are tracking some tropical movement in the Atlantic it's hurricane season of course and nothing major to report just yet but if it strengthens and it's likely to it could impact the northern Caribbean islands sometime next week we will keep a close eye on that right here at the live desk and online any time at the National Weather desk that's part of the national desk.com and new developments related to Donald Trump's payment trial in New York the house Judiciary Committee subpoena the political consulting company that employs the judge's daughter the committee wants a CEO of authentic campaigns deposed and assigned affidavit swearing the company never communicated with the judge in May jurors found Trump guilty on falsifying business records Trump questioned if the judge was biased because his daughter worked for a company raising money for Democratic campaigns more Fallout meantime after the Facebook CEO said the Biden Harris Administration pressured him to censor pandemic related content online the national desk Matt Gela reports we think we've had a huge impact which again our Focus though is protecting the First Amendment that's that's that's what we've been focused on all along Ohio Republican and house Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan took a Victory lap after meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's letter admitting there was pressure from the Biden Administration to censor content much of the letter revolved around covid-19 posts on Facebook and a warning from the FBI about Russian disinformation leading up to the 2020 election that warning caused a hunter Biden laptop story to be temporarily demoted let me ask you this do you trust Facebook today I feel a lot better about where we're at uh based on the work we've done we got to stay on top of this because we're talking about those fundamental Liberties fundamental privileges we enjoy As Americans Zuckerberg admitted in the letter that meta ultimately made the decisions on what post got taken down but that the pressure was wrong and in hindsight they'd make different decisions today Tech media personality Cara swisser blasted The Meta CEO's letter he also had certainly had enough power to push back and say something publicly at the time um I think you know he can have regrets but they're his regrets his business decision regrets and to to use the term pressure is just it's just it's just currying favor with Jim Jordan more Fallout former New York Times journalist Alex baronson told Fox News Zuckerberg's letter will impact his lawsuit against the Biden Administration baronson sued the administration along with fizer higher ups for First Amendment violations after he was banned from Twitter in 2021 for posting about covid vaccine skepticism another part of Zuckerberg's letter also addressed donations his philanthropy donated to voting rights groups in 2020 Republicans repeatedly criticize the donations and he won't be making them again telling la makers in his letter he wants to remain neutral and not appear to be playing a role in influencing the election outcome reporting in Washington I'm Matt Gala and head this morning parental pressure why some people say it is getting more stressful to raise children and how it's impacting are searching for the suspect who tossed a gun into a storm drain that officer was then trying to get the gun when it went off as he was trying to recover it the suspect got away on the back of a motorcycle we have no indication that he knew the person that the motorcycle he got on the back of uh we do know that he ran in the roadway in the southbound lanes and they actually climbed kind of there's a gap in the fence between the southbound and Northbound lanes and got on the Northbound side and jump on the back of the motorcycle there's no indication that he knows the person however that will be part of the investigation determine if that that is the case or not officer David taken by a helicopter to the hospital for uh to be checked out and treated he did die from his injuries now Donald Trump the FBI releasing photos you're taking a look at those right now our first look at the rifle used by Thomas Crooks at that Butler Pennsylvania rally as well as the backpack and explosives he had in his car the FBI said Kooks started researching devices back in 2019 and had been researching Democratic and Republican campaign events for months in an interview Mr Trump called out how the current Administration has treated him I think to a certain extent it's Biden's fault and Harris's fault and I'm the opponent look they were weaponizing government against me the FBI still investigating Crook's motive and if he worked alone vice presidential candidate JD Vance meantime hitting Battleground States viting visiting voters in Erie Pennsylvania and in Green Bay Wisconsin where he called out vice president Harris's job performance she stands before crowds like this and she'll say without a hint of irony or a hint of shame that on day one my friend she is going to tackle the affordability crisis that's affecting American families and on day one she's going to make groceries more affordable and on day one she is going to make it possible for young people to afford a home and every single person with an ounce of sense is saying well kamla day one was 1300 days ago well Donald Trump has said to visit a Michigan metal plant today and hold a town hall in Wisconsin turning now to your money home prices hit a new record in June over an ongoing housing shortage prices jumped 5.4% nationally compared to the previous year on a month L basis prices rising. 2% and you might soon be paying a little more for your car insurance depending on where you live it could be an increase of as much as 50% the national desk Jana Bowen joining us now with a breakdown of those numbers frightening numbers I might add Jana who is going to see the highest of bumps yeah good morning Amira according to insurify they predict California Missouri and Minnesota could see car insurance cost increase by more than 50% now damage from severe storms and wildfires contributes to Rising rates in those States the average annual full coverage premium Now costs $2,329 and shufi projects the total 22% increase by the end of the year the higher prices have led some people to get rid of their cars $520 for car insurance that is more than the car payment on my lease how do I cancel how do how do I cancel my car insurance I don't need to drive anymore $520 I do not drive a luxury vehicle I'm in a Honda HRV and how Maryland where I live has the highest car insurance cost in the US with an average full coverage rate of $3,400 per year Amira if you want the cheapest rate you'll have to move to New Hampshire drivers there pay an average of $1,000 wow well that's not too far from us here in DC that's good news uh we know weather plays a huge role here but what are some of the other reasons for the price hikes because these are just astronomical right so I looked at an analysis from Fox Business that shows the price of cars Rose after covid because of supply chain issues and high demand this led to higher prices for repairs too and there's a shortage of mechanics now car insurance companies are also making up for 2021 losses because of a high number of fatal car accidents just compounding factors there all right Jan Bowens with us live thank you so much for that report and a health alert for you this morning grocery chain Stop and Shop won't sell cigarettes anymore the grocer plans to end all cigarette and tobacco product sales at all of its 360 stores life you're balancing work personal responsibilities your time US Surgeon General Dr VC Murthy released an advisory calling parental stress an urgent public health issue an advisory staic agrees with we don't have an outlet to correct our chorus and really deal with the stress of all this Balancing Act Murphy says the stresses parents and caregivers have today are being passed on to children in direct and indirect ways something stasic says she has seen firsthand as a parent now I have failed because I lost control of myself when I asked her to control our own emotions it's very difficult in that regard Dr Lee Richardson a licensed professional counselor tells us to deal with stress parents need to talk about it especially with their kids opening up conversation sends a message to your kids that it's okay it's it's okay to not be okay plus she agrees with Murthy that more resources need to be made available to help parents and caregivers Thrive we've got to address this and we've got to address this on a bigger level now in The Advisory Murthy out L some ways to help reduce the burden on parents like instituting National Paid Family and Medical Leave implementing child care tax credits and also poverty reduction programs I'm Jeff Harris reporting from Washington a major storm heading Japan right now Millions told to evacuate several people already reportedly missing Labor Day deals already priced out Americans are hoping for a big break this long weekend we look at where shopping experts say the deals will be plus whether it's the second amendment or if it's the fact that the working class and the middle class been decimated by the Harris Biden inflation policies they can spend as much time as they want there it's a heavy song to the cell must-win State vice president Harris set to speak in Georgia as new polling shows which way independent voters are leaning and international tension from China to the Middle East to Ukraine President Biden hoping to cool 29th and we start this morning with new develop out of the Middle East this morning Israel says it is continuing a large scale raid operation in the West Bank that has already turned deadly and Mark Bole is at the live desk following the breaking details for us right now Mark we're getting some new video in about this more recent push right now but I want to start with the information right out of the gate here right now Israeli forces are continuing what you described as a large full force operation in the West Bank taking out at least 10 Hamas terrorists making arrest and sealing off the city of Janine a longtime Hamas stronghold on X Israel's foreign minister calling for a similar measure taken in Gaza to take out the terror group saying quote here we must deal with the threat just as we deal with the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza including the temporary evacuation of Palestinian residents and whatever steps might be required this is a war in every respect and we must win it also into the live desk new video from Ida forces dismantling uh the nearly 2m long tunnel underground there in Gaza part of that tunnel was destroyed back in 2014 but since then the terror group has been working to restore it and bring it back into operation this morning also new information about President Biden's knowledge of the Gaza Pier he approved that plan it was a troubled peer from the beginning despite warnings from within the government that Rough Waters could pose serious challenges the Inspector General report adds Firepower for critics here questioning why the US put troops In Harm's Way for that mission that faced many foreseen challenges it cost taxpayers about $230 million and ultimately was unsuccessful we are watching for developments this morning out of the Middle East and here in DC details as they come in at the live desk and online anytime at the national desk.com and we are giving you a live look over the White House where President Biden is reportedly expected to speak over the phone with Chinese president xiin ping in the coming weeks it would be their first publicly known conversation since April today National Security adviser Jake Sullivan wrapping up a three-day visit to China he raised concerns over taiwan's Independence freedom of the South China Sea and concerns over China's support of Russia meantime Ukraine is asking the Pentagon for permission to use more advanced American weapons for its offensive into Russian territory right now the us only allows Ukraine to fire shorter range missiles into Russia for self-defense Ukrainian officials are also expected to present the US with a peace plan to end the war by November and turning to November's election today vice president Kamala Harris will give her first on the reccord interview since becoming the Democratic nominee for president she will sit alongside her running mate Tim Walls and it will air tonight at 900 p.m. Eastern on CNN a brand new pull out this morning shows former president Trump gaining some ground with independent voters Harris has a 37% support to Trump's 42% that's the first yugov pull out since Robert F Kennedy Jr suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump at the same time Harris believes the state of Georgia is once again in play this November right now she is on a two-day bus tour of the state and plans to speak in Savannah today Trump's team however is downplaying the fact that Harris is spending so much time in the state but at the end of the day they can do this rural tour they can do this city tour the bottom line is is the Vol the values the San Francisco values of CA Harris do not match up with rural Georgia whether it's Sanctuary cities whether it's whether it's the second amendment or if it's the fact that the working class and the middle class been decimated by the Harris Biden inflation policies that said in 2020 President Biden became the first Democrat to win Georgia in nearly three decades a Fox News poll released yesterday had Harris Le leading there against Trump by about two points and right now the Labor Day travel Rush is getting underway with some of the busiest days on the road and at the airport in front of us the TSA expects to have its busiest Labor Day travel period ever and highway travel is expected to be up 9% when compared with the year before now if you do plan to drive we're seeing a little bit of relief at the pump so that's good news right now the average price for a gallon of gas is 33 6 and last year it was 382 so that's quite a drop and with Labor Day just a few days away and with many households running on tight budgets we wanted you to get a start on your labor day shopping plan the national desks Jana Bowens has details on how to make your dollar stretch we always love to figure out how to do that Jana what should people be looking at buying this weekend yeah Mera experts say you'll see good deals on mattresses appliances furniture clothes and shoes and there will be discounts that are more than 60% experts say you should hit up Target Walmart Home Depot Amazon calls and Wayfair for the biggest sales according to Retail Me Not Shoppers plan to spend an average of $354 Labor Day weekend and take a listen to what shopping expert Trey bodge says about shopping online versus in person if you're buying clothing and you're not super familiar with that brand you should try things on and lay on that mattress sit on that couch so you can have that real experience with the item because it is getting harder and harder to return things uh return fees are are back in in a real way and so you should really get there in person now a new bank rate survey shows 74% of Americans think inflation is erasing their hard work but at the same time Amir the majority think Labor Day sales offer good deals and a Bittersweet situation what should people avoid buying this weekend because some things are pricier yeah so experts say it's not the time to buy Christmas decor you can get it cheaper later and if you don't see the sale you want on any particular item hold tight we'll see another round of sales in October and plus it is just far too early to be buying Christmas stuff that's my opinion maybe not a popular one all right Jan thank you Republican L states are celebrating another Supreme Court decision against the Biden administration's controversial student loan plan the court denied a White House request to lift an injunction that put the save plan on hold yesterday's order has no immediate impact on the 8 million borrowers currently enrolled Missouri attorney general Andrew Bailey who is challenging the administration released a statement saying in part the court order is a stark reminder to the Biden Administration that Congress did not grant them authority to saddle working Americans with $500 billion in someone else's ivy league debt and still ahead here on the national desk priced out families feeling the pinch this back to school shopping season on everything from backpacks to notebooks also addicted America the dangerous and deadly new drug mixture popping up in one local community and here's the live just this morning we're tracking a possible United Airlines flight attendance strike after they voted in favor for the first time in 20 years could this happen and when we're back in just a moment e e heard about that yet this morning American families seeing sticker shock as they shop this back to school season import taxes have inflated the costs by as much as 20% on everything from backpacks to clothing statistics show that the overwhelming majority of shoes and clothing in particular sold in the United States is imported and us-made goods might also be causing trouble the national taxpayers Union out with a new study and here to shed some light on the to our wallets is the n's Brandon Arnold Brandon good morning to you and I just want you to share more about this study because it's quite informative we are talking about a significant increase in the most basic of items here yeah absolutely and Americans have been clobbered by inflation as we all know for the past several years the last thing they need is things to get more expensive so what we've seen is working families who are sending their kids back to school and I put put my kids on the bus for the first time just a couple days ago earlier this week but these families have already been struggling with higher housing costs food costs energy costs and now here we are with back to school costs which are going to hit nearly $40 billion this year that's more than $870 per household they're going to see those costs go up even further because we've allowed programs to expire that have helped to hold the price of some of these back to school supplies whether that's clothing pencils backpacks that have helped hold those prices relatively low those prices are skyrocketing and unfortunately that's taking a really heavy toll on American families right now sure and we have a chart to to show folks you know backpacks up as much as 20% notebooks 8% uh colored pencils up socks shoes t-shirts jeans you name it you know I'm seeing a range of anywhere from from 6% to 20% I mean that's quite a bit so give us some more context on this you know why is this happening when it went into effect some years ago was it understood this would happen or was this an unintended consequence what's happening here this is a product of dysfunction in Washington you know we talk a lot about China when we talk about trade this is less about China it's more about programs that we have in place or have traditionally had in place with developing nations we've helped work with developing nations lift them out of poverty while helping our consumers at the same time it's a win-win system it is not undermining our national security it's not hurting workers quite the contrary it's helping our country but because Washington has become so dysfunctional and so partisan we've allowed this program to expire that's really hurt our small businesses and most notably it's hurt our families especially at a times like now when we're spending far more whom we ought to to send our kids back to school well Brandon a lot of people would say okay I'll just avoid the maid in products and I'll buy only products made in the US to what extent does that help you well that can help our workers that can help uh you know a lot of our businesses here in the United States but it's a lot more complicated than that because a lot of times products that are made here in America are made using raw materials or intermediate Goods that are imported from other countries and when we're importing things from friendly countries we're also opening the door for our Ranchers for our Farmers to export products we have more than 10 million jobs in this country that are supported by exports so when they start throwing up retaliatory tariffs when they start punishing our Farmers our ranchers guess what that really hurts home the Heartland here it really hurts American workers and people that are scraping by in a really difficult economy and just about 30 seconds left here but you look at the two major candidates Harris and Trump we know that their approaches differ on the issue what policy would you do personally uh need or or want to see to feel confident that we can bring those prices down yeah I mean we need to create strong trade deals with our allies and we need to start to counter the influence of China that is making huge investments in countries like uh in the nation the entire continent of Africa I should say in uh Pacific Rim countries like South Korea Australia we need to strengthen our ties there because if we don't strengthen our ties China will jump in and that creates not only economic problems for our country but also geopolitical problems and potentially national security problems for the United States Brandon Ardell with the national taxpayers Union thank you so much for shedding light on that really important study very informative thank you thank you coming up on 45 minutes past the hour this morning for the first time in nearly two decades United Airlines flight attendants voted in favor of authorizing a strike if Executives failed to agree to increase the benefits now 20 8,000 flight attendants across 20 airports across the United States took part in this vote and of those whopping 99.99% voted in favor of a strike if they don't get their demands including doubl digigit pay increases scheduled flexibility retirement benefits and job security the possible strike won't impact Labor Day weekend travel so don't worry about that now the strike vote is just a procedural step and it doesn't necessarily mean there will be a strike it just increases the Kanas it is unlikely flight attendants will walk off the job and even if they eventually do strike it will take weeks if not months for that to happen this is the national desk America's news now we have reporters all across the country in your neighborhoods covering the issues that matter most to you from local farmers in Texas struggling to make ends meet to a new and deadlier type of drug popping up across Ohio we are taking the pulse of America and we begin in the state of Maine where community members are raising concerns about the public water [Music] supply Lisbon residents say this isn't the first time they've dealt with random days of discolored and smelly water it's disturbing you this issue we hope that there's a more permanent fix solution found soon cuz we've been here for 4 years and it happens more frequently than it [Music] should we have to rent their spot or pay for their spot to be there and then they they don't sell all their watermelons was it really profitable for them farmers markets have become less common and with less produce than in the past Nando contributes that to changes the industry has gone through 35 years ago there was a lot more smaller local farmers food safety has changed a lot of that the regulations and government has changed a lot of that to where it's harder for them so these smaller Farms have gone to well into co-ops and in the larger farms and and it's much more expensive the cost because of this farmers markets that are still around have changed these farmers markets are utilizing other things to supplement they're selling candles or honey or candy so it might change the face of what a a true farmer's market [Music] is two new drug mixtures are popping up across the Midwest Tran dope and benzo dope are different combinations of sedatives added to opioids like sentinol and heroin like it used to be it's not this is the high heat is starting to push out of the area we're going to be looking at highs only in the 80s on your Thursday Friday even cooler good Thursday morning meteorologist Michael larberg with a temperatures building in so as the warm up gets going we do have some freeze warnings and frost advisor and parts of Montana boy they are waking up with some chilly weather and it's been a while since we've had chilly temperatures to start the day out but we're going to warm up quite a bit across the board expect just a few scattered showers from monsoonal moisture across New Mexico that's the scene from [Music] here e e the national desk America's news now [Music] breaking overnight officer killed this is a very tragic circumstance her heart goes out to the officer the search for a suspect and a shocking mishap with a gun taking an officer's life in the nation's capital assassin Insight the subject conducted more than 60 searches related to President Biden and former president Trump we are getting our first look at the gun used by Thomas Crooks as the FBI releases new info about the Trump rally shooting interview anticipation kamla Harris has not given any specificities let alone any vision of what she really wants to do from a public policy position vice president Harris set to face her first formal sitdown and critics question why she won't be doing it alone and parental pressure as a parent now I have failed because I lost control of myself when I asked her to control her own emotions why raising kids today is getting a public health advisory live from the N nation's capital this is the national desk America's news now I'm Amir David in for Jan Jeffcoat it is Thursday August 29th and today Americans are expecting Democratic Presidential nominee kamla Harris to explain her policy positions none are listed on her campaign website it's it's been over a month since the vice president became the nominee accepting the nomination one week ago without doing a formal interview but that is set to change today and she will not be alone running mate Tim Walls will be at her side one critical assessment in the Wall Street Journal writing this is a deliberate attempt to limit the potential exposure risks for the vice president walls will be there with a parachute to rescue the presidential candidate if she has a rough go Mark Bole is at the live desk and uh he's standing by with lots of antici anticipation around this interview Mark well a lot of people want to see how she reacts to these questions and we have some information on what will happen in just a few hours so tonight VP KLA Harris will hold that first TV interview as the Democratic Presidential nominee this comes on the heels of her big George bus tour her first public appearance since the DNC tonight's high stakes interview is her first chance to roll out her policies on a range of issues for voters it is the first time she's agreed to a sit down interview in the 39 days since becoming the nominee right now we are just 68 days away from election day and still growing questions this morning about her policies on immigration and international e economic concerns as well and her lack of access has become really a key sticking point for critics as well Arkansas Republican senator Tom Cotton had this to say on Fox Wednesday com Harris hasn't changed her position on trying to take health insurance away from 70 million people who get their health insurance on the job she hasn't changed her position and say decriminalizing illegal immigration and then giving illegal aliens health insurance at taxpayer expense but you know Pete even if she said those things we would know that they're all lies we know that she has a record that record goes back years in public office that's what she believes that's what's in her heart whatever she says now to get through the last 10 weeks of this campaign is just what she thinks is politically expedient we will see how she responds tonight the interview is scheduled to uh happen with Dana Bash it'll be pre-recorded not live and then air in Parts later tonight on CNN at 900 p.m. Eastern and one k Harris policy getting more attention is the proposal to tax unrealized gains this is when people get taxed over investment gains that only exist on paper the Harris walls ticket proposing a 25% tax on unrealized Capital gains for people with more than $100 million in wealth one Harris campaign rep got grilled over it if you were taxing unrealized gains all you're doing is pulling forward the taxes that would be paid later when someone actually sells the stock I I I I think that this reaction to unrealized gains is a little funny given that I bet that the majority of people watching right now are already paying a tax on unrealized gains it's called a property tax tax when the value of your home goes up tax when the value of your home goes up you pay higher taxes your value of your home never moves the way stock moves the way something always the go to answer and those hosts said the tax is likely unconstitutional one projection says the tax could lead to nearly $800 billion do in new government revenue the Border another hot issue voters want to hear Harris weigh in on the national desk Christine fra breaks down what we now know about her evolved stance now viewed as attempts to move more toward the center vice president kamla Harris out on the campaign Trail powered by momentum and a modified message as president I will bring back the bipartisan Board of security bill that he killed and I will sign it into law that bipartisan border Bill includes $650 million to build new and fix existing portions of the border wall a wall featured prominently in a recent campaign ad fixing the Border is tough so is kamla Harris it's a stance that's changed drastically since she ran for president the last time when in a post on Facebook she called Trump's border wall a complete waste of taxpayer money that won't make us any safer this Administration has decided to vilify them and to trade on them for the sake of This president's medieval vanity project called awall her opponent and his supporters assert she had no role in negotiating the Border Bill and accuse her of lying about her position to try to win more votes do you really believe she's going to build a wall that's just bull she's had four years to build a wall and she's done nothing for the last four years they've turned every Trump policy upside down that prevented illegal immigration and we're being overrun with 10 million people warnings about those large numbers of people now in the country have been mounting from Top intelligence officials I've never seen a time where all the threats or so many of the threats are all elevated all at exactly the same time those new threats along with shifts in voter sentiment could be reasons for the pivot we can be a nation of immigrants who love their country and a nation with a secure border the Harris campaign insists while the bipartisan border legislation was tough it was also Broad and included things like better technology to catch drug smugglers her campaign website so far is most ly absent of any official policy positions in Washington I'm Christine fow thank you Christine despite Harris pledging to bring back the Border Bill one of its authors Oklahoma senator James lenford says it will not be revived many Republicans voted against the bill because it would have allowed a certain number of illegal entries each day a controversial program that let migrants apply for us entry that was paused over Mass fraud concerns could be brought brought back NBC news reporting the Biden Administration May revive the program this week with new vetting the program lets migrants from Cuba Haiti Nicaragua and Venezuela apply for legal entry if they have a sponsor in the US but the program was halted last month after the Department of Homeland Security found almost 101,000 sponsor applications were quote serial sponsors repeats that could indicate fraud Republican critics have claimed the program prog contributed to the migrant crisis by allowing the government to fly undocumented migrants into the United States more than 300,000 migrants have arrived under the program since it began last year we are also following the arrest of an illegal migrant accused of killing a journalist ice arrested Jorge Alberto Martinez Sanchez when he was in court in Louisiana and he was being arraigned for negligent homicide charges authorities say he was speeding without a license when he struck and killed a New Orleans TV news producer ice says Martinez Sanchez entered the US illegally this morning we're tracking severe thunderstorms in the midwest Montana and the dtas hit overnight now Iowa and Minnesota are expecting those same storms today and into tonight a live look right now over St Paul to my left one of the cities that will experience some of those impacts in just a few hours and here's a closer look at the area that could see the threats tonight including hail FL in the possibility of tornadoes the area in yellow uh severe level risk number two that's what we're watching for the possibility of those severe storms spanning all the way from the De Moine Area up through Minneapolis this morning we're also tracking the cleanup efforts From The Storm still a big deal from Michigan feeling the impacts of the severe storms the power knocked out right now tens of thousands of people without power in that state alone more than 117,000 customers in the dark at the same time we're tracking some tropical movement in the Atlantic right in the middle of hurricane season don't forget about that nothing too major right now at this moment but it could strengthen it could impact the northern Caribbean islands at some point next week we'll keep a close eye on all that for you right here at the live desk and On Top Line anytime at the National Weather desk that's part of the national desk.com all right Mark Thank you new developments related to Donald Trump's payment trial in New York the house Judiciary Committee subpoena the political consulting company that employs the judge's daughter the committee wants the CEO of authentic campaigns deposed and assigned affidavit swearing the company never communicated with the judge in May jurors found Trump guilty on falsifying business records Trump questioned if the judge was biased because his daughter works for a company raising money for Democratic campaigns House Republicans calling it a win for free speech after meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's letter to Congress this week the national desk Matt Gela here with us right now and Matt you spoke with the Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan what did he have to say well good morning Amir he certainly felt like his committee's work was Vindicated but also said their work is not done it's part of the Fallout from Zuckerberg's letter admitting his company received government pressure to moderate content we think we've had a huge impact which again our Focus though is protecting the First Amendment that's that's that's what we've been focused on all along Ohio Republican and house judiciary committee chairman Jim Jordan took a Victory lap after meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's letter admitting there was pressure from the Biden Administration to censor content much of the letter revolved around covid-19 posts on Facebook and a warning from the FBI about Russian disinformation leading up to the 2020 election that warning caused a hunter Biden laptop story to be temporarily demoted let me ask you this do you trust Facebook today I feel a lot better about where we're at uh based on the work we've done we got to stay on top of this because we're talking about those fundamental Liberties fundamental privileges we enjoy As Americans Zuckerberg admitted in the letter that meta ultimately made the decisions on what post got taken down but that the pressure was wrong and in hindsight they'd make different decisions today Tech media personality Cara Swisher blasted The Meta CEO's letter he also had certainly had enough power to push back and say something publicly at the time um I think you know he can have regrets but they're his regrets his business decision regrets and to to use the term pressure is just it's just it's just currying favor with Jim Jordan more Fallout former New York Times journalist Alex baronson told Fox News Zuckerberg's letter will impact his lawsuit against the Biden Administration baronson sued the administration along with fiser higher ups for First Amendment violations after he was banned from Twitter in 2021 for posting about covid vaccine skepticism and another part of Zuckerberg's letter also addressed donations his philanthropy donated Dev voting rights groups in 2020 to increase access to the polls Republicans repeatedly criticize those donations and he won't be making them again telling lawmakers in his letter he wants to remain neutral and not appear to be playing a role in influencing the election outcome reporting in Washington I'm Matt Gala for the national desk America's news now all right Matt thanks for that ahead this morning parental pressure why some people say it is getting more stressful to raise kids and how it's impacting their mental health Rising rates what's driving car insurance rates higher and how much you can expect to pay and here at the live Dash this morning DC police mourning the loss of one of their own killed in the line of duty and the search is on this morning for the suspect details on the other side of this [Music] break e e [Music] new video into the live desk of the procession honoring the life and sacrif ice of DC police officer investigator Wayne David he was killed in the line of duty last night a live look over DC right now where police are searching for the suspect who tossed a gun in the storm drain and officer David was then hit when the gun went off as he was trying to recover it the suspect got away in the back of a motorcycle we have no indication that he knew the person that the motorcycle he got on the back of uh we do know that he ran in the roadway in the southbound lanes and they actually climbed kind of there's a gap in the fence between the southbound and Northbound Lanes and got on the Northbound side and jumped on the back of a motorcycle there's no indication that he knows the person however that will be part of the investigation determine if that that is the case or not and while this was all unfolding it was quite a large scene as you can imagine officer David was taken by a helicopter to the hospital he later died from those injuries now this morning his family friends colleagues are mourning in a statement from mpd's Chief writing in part our hearts are heavy after the tragic loss of one of our own the Metropolitan Police Department did released these pictures take a good look these are the only pictures released of the suspect they're searching for captured on surveillance video so any new updates on this Active search we certainly bring that to you right here at the live desk this morning all right Mark thank you and new information about the gunman who tried to assassinate former president Donald Trump the FBI releasing photos that we are getting our first look of at the rifle used by Thomas Crooks at that Butler Pennsylvania rally as well as the backpack and explosives he had in his car the FBI said krooks started researching devices in 2019 and had been researching Democratic and Republican campaign events for months in an interview Mr Trump called out how the current Administration has treated him I think to a certain extent it's Biden's fault and Harris's fault and I'm the opponent look they were weaponizing government against me the FBI still investigating Crook's motive and whether he worked alone vice presidential candidate JD Vance in Battleground States visiting voters in Erie Pennsylvania and in Green Bay Wisconsin where he called out vice president Harris's job performance she stands before crowds like this and she'll say without a hint of irony or a hint of shame that on day one my friend she is going to tackle the affordability crisis that's affecting American families and on day one she's going to make groceries more affordable and on day one she is going to make it possible for young people to afford a home and every single person with an ounce of sense is saying well kamla day one was 1300 days ago and Donald Trump has set to visit a Michigan metal plant today and hold a town hall in Wisconsin and turning now to your money home prices hit a new record in June over an ongoing housing shortage prices jumped 5.4% now nationally when compared to the year before on a monthly basis pric is rising. 2% and you might soon be paying more for your car insurance depending on where you live it could be an increase of as much as 50% the national desks Jana Bowen joining us now with the breakdown of the numbers and Jana who's going to feel this the most well good morning Amira you'll definitely uh feel it in California Missouri and Minnesota and sure if I predicts that's where car insurance costs could increase by more than 50% and damage from severe storms and wildfires contributes to Rising rates in those States the average annual full coverage premium Now costs over $2,300 the higher prices have led some people to get rid of their cars $520 for car insurance that is more than the car payment on my lease how do I cancel how do I cancel my car insurance I don't need to drive anymore $520 I do not drive a luxury vehicle I'm in a Honda HRV now Maryland where I live has the highest car insurance cost in the US with an average full coverage rate of $3,400 per year Amira if you want the cheapest rate you'll have to move to New Hampshire drivers there pay an average of a thousand I'm sure it's pretty high in my home state of Michigan as well and we know weather plays a role but what are some of the other factors that go into these price hikes yes so I looked at an analysis from Fox Business that shows car prices Rose after covid because of supply chain issues and high demand this pushed prices up for repairs too and there's a shortage of mechanics now car insurance companies are also making up for 2021 losses because of a high number of fatal car accidents all right Jana Bowens keeping us informed this morning thank you as to children in direct and indirect ways something stasic says she has seen firsthand as a parent now I have failed because I lost control of myself when I asked her to control her own emotions it's very difficult in that regard Dr Lee Richardson a licensed professional counselor tells us to deal with stress parents need to talk about it especially with their kids opening up conversation sends a message to your kids that it's okay it's it's okay to not be okay plus she agrees with Murthy that more resources need to be made available to help parents and caregivers Thrive we've got to address this and we've got to address this on a bigger level now in The Advisory merthy outlines some ways to help reduce the burden on parents like instituting National Paid Family and Medical Leave implementing child care tax credits and also poverty reduction programs I'm Jeff Harris reporting from Washington a major storm heading Japan right now Millions told to evacuate and several people is a UV poll since Robert F Kennedy Jr suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump meantime some more new polling from Fox News that shows just how much the election has changed since Harris became the Democratic nominee the national desk Matt Gela here with more on why some of the focus is on Georgia right now Matt yeah you know these poll numbers really put things into perspective Fox News polls in Georgia before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race had Trump up six points a 51 to 45 margin over the current president but the latest poll released yesterday has K Harris up 50 to 48 making Georgia a margin of error race and putting the pivotal State back in play it's one of the reasons the Harris campaign is hitting the areas way outside of Atlanta on our bus tour in the next couple of days now Trump's team downplayed Harris's momentum there but at the end of the day they can do this rural tour they can do this city tour the bottom line is is the Vol the values the San Francisco values of CA Harris do not match up with rural Georgia whether it's Sanctuary cities whether it's whether it's the second amendment or even it's the fact that the working class and the middle class been decimated by the Harris Biden inflation policies now Biden narrowly beat Trump in Georgia in 2020 Republican Governor Brian Kemp is calling his Battleground State a must-win for Republican in order to have a path to the White House reporting in Washington I'm Matt Gala for the national desk America's news now all right Matt thank you and right now the Labor Day travel Rush getting underway with some of the busiest days on the road and at the airport in front of us the TSA expects this to be the busiest Labor Day travel period ever and highway travel is expected to be up 9% when compared to last year if you do plan on driving we're seeing a little bit of relief at the pump right now the average price price for a gallon of gas is 336 last year it was 382 to give you some perspective there and with Labor Day just a few days away and with many households running on tight budgets we wanted you to get a head start on your labor day shopping plan and of course Shop Smart so we have Jana Bowens here with us with some details on how to make your dollar stretch and I am all ears Jana Labor Day is one of the best 3-day weekends for sales smart shopping expert Trey bodge says you'll see good deals on mattresses appliances furniture clothes and shoes you're going to be seeing discounts 60% off plus so it's a really good time to plan ahead for families it's also really good for parents who perhaps didn't get everything they needed for back to school yet according to retail Min not Shoppers plan to spend an average of $354 Labor Day weekend Target Walmart Home Depot Amazon Wayfair Kohl's that's where you're going to find those big big discounts I would also say that if there's a brand that you like go directly to that brand because they will be having Labor Day sales if you need help deciding whether to shop online or in person here are a few things to consider online shopping allows uh an ease to saving so you can do more price comparison you can use coupon sites or if you're buying clothing and you're not super familiar with that brand you should try things on and lay on that mattress sit on that couch so can have that real experience with the item because it is getting harder and harder to return things uh return fees are are back in in a real way and so you should really get there in person now a new bank rate survey shows 74% of Americans think inflation is erasing their hard work but at the same time Amir the majority think Labor Day sales offer good deals yeah a Bittersweet situation what should people be avoiding in terms of shopping the this weekend well experts say it's not the time to buy Christmas decor you can get it cheaper later and if you don't see the sale you want on any particular item hold tight we will see another round of sales in October all right looking forward to that Jana Bowens with the nice breakdown there thank you very much and Republican L states are celebrating another Supreme Court decision against the Biden administration's controversial student loan plan the court denied the White House a request to lift an injunction that put the save plan on hold yesterday's order has no immediate impact on the 8 million borrowers currently enrolled Missouri attorney general Andrew Bailey who is challenging the administration released a statement saying in part the court order is a stark reminder to the Biden Administration that Congress did not grant them authority to saddle working Americans with $500 billion dollar in someone else's ivy league debt still ahead here on the national desk priced out families feeling the pinch this back to school shopping season on everything from backpacks to notebooks and here at the live test we are tracking a possible strike for United Airlines flight attendants after they voted in favor for the first time in 20 years when this could possibly happen coming up next e e [Music] this morning American famili seeing sticker shock as they shop this back to school season import taxes have inflated the costs by as much as 20% on everything from backpacks to clothing statistics show that the overwhelming majority of shoes and clothing in particular sold in the United States is imported and us- made Goods might also be causing trouble the national taxpayers Union out with a new study and here to shed some light on the impact to our wallets is the 's Brandon Arnold Brandon good morning to you and I just want you to share more about this study because it's quite informative we are talking about a significant increase in the most basic of items here yeah absolutely and Americans have been clobbered by inflation as we all know for the past several years the last thing they need is things to get more expensive so what we've seen is working families who are sending their kids back to school and I put my kids on the bus for the first time just a couple days ago earlier this week but these families have already been struggling with higher housing costs food costs energy costs and now here we are with back to school costs which are going to hit nearly $40 billion this year that's more than $870 per household they're going to see those costs go up even further because we've allowed programs to expire that have helped to hold the price of some of these back to- school supplies whether that's clothing pencils backpacks that have helped hold those prices relatively low those prices are skyrocketing and unfortunately that's Tak taking a really heavy toll on American families right now sure and we have a chart to to show folks you know backpacks up as much as 20% notebooks 8% uh colored pencils up socks shoes t-shirts jeans you name it you know I'm seeing a range of anywhere from from 6% to 20% I mean that's quite a bit so give us some more context on this you know why is this happening when it went into effect some years ago was it understood this would happen or or was this an unintended consequence what's happening here this is a product of dysfunction in Washington you know we talk a lot about China when we talk about trade this is less about China it's more about programs that we have in place or have traditionally had in place with the developing nations we've helped work with developing nations lift them out of poverty while helping our consumers at the same time it's a win-win system it is not undermining our national security it's not hurting workers quite the contrary it's helping our country but because Washington has become so dysfunctional and so partisan we've allowed this program to expire that's really hurt our small businesses and most notably it's hurt our families especially at a times like now when we're spending far more when we ought to to send our kids back to school well Brandon a lot of people would say okay I'll just avoid the made in China products and I'll buy only products made in the US to what extent does that help you well that can help our workers that can help uh you know a lot of our businesses here in the United States but it's a lot more complicated than that because a lot of times products that are made here in America are made using raw materials or intermediate Goods that are imported from other countries and when we're importing things from friendly countries we're also opening the door for our ranchers for our Farmers to export products we have more than 10 million jobs in this country that are supported by exports so when they start growing up retaliatory tariffs when they start punishing our Farmers our ranchers guess what that really hurts home the Heartland here it really hurts American workers and people that are scraping by in a really difficult economy and just about 30 seconds left here but you look at the two major candidates Harris and Trump we know that their approaches differ on the issue what policy would you personally uh need or or want to see to feel confident that we can bring those prices down yeah I mean we need to create strong trade deals with our allies and we need to start to counter the influence of China that is making huge investments in countries like uh in the nation the entire continent of Africa I should say in uh Pacific Rim countries like South Korea Australia we need to strengthen our ties there because if we don't strengthen our ties China will jump in and that creates not only economic problems for our country but also geopolitical problems and potentially national security problems for the United States Brandon ardal with the national taxpayers Union thank you so much for shedding light on that really important study very informative thank you thank you for the first time in nearly two decades United Airlines flight attendants voted in favor of authorizing a strike if Executives fail to agree to increase their benefits 28,000 flight attendants across 20 airports in the United States took part in this vote and of those get this a whopping 99.99% nearly 100% voted in favor of the strike if they don't get their demands including double digigit pay increases scheduled flexibility and retirement benefits as well as job security the possible strike will not impact Labor Day weekend travel so don't worry about that now the strike vote is really just a procedural step and while it does mean the chances of a strike have increased it's unlikely flight attendants will walk off the job and if they do it will take weeks if not months for that to happen this is the national desk America's news now we have reporters all across the country in your neighborhoods covering the issues that matter most to you from local farmers in Texas struggling to make ends meet to a new and deadlier type of drug popping up across Ohio we are taking the pulse of America and we begin in the state of Maine where community members are raising concerns about the public water [Music] supply Lisbon residents say this isn't the the first time they've dealt with random days of discolored and smelly water it's disturbing you don't expect to see water that is uh Brown Abby Cody says this has a significant impact on her family we have a one-year-old um so we when this happens like we can't give her a bath we can't give her water one person in town showed us pictures of their laundry stained by the sturdy water meaning lots of leftover cleanup the Lisbon water district says it's working on a plan to help fix and prevent this issue we hope that there's a more permanent fix solution found soon cuz we've been here for 4 years and it happens more frequently than it [Music] should they have to rent their spot or pay for their spot to be there and then they they don't sell all their watermelons was it really profitable for them farmers markets have become less common and with less Pro produ than in the past Nando contributes that to changes the industry has gone through 35 years ago there was a lot more smaller local farmers food safety has changed a lot of that the regulations and government has changed a lot of that to where it's harder for them so these smaller Farms have gone to well into co-ops and the larger farms and and it's much more expensive to cost because of this farmers markets that are still around have changed these farmers markets are utilizing other things to supplement they're selling candles or honey or candy so it might change the face of what a a true farmers market [Music] is two new drug mixtures are popping up across the Midwest Tran dope and benzo dope are different combinations of sedatives added to opioids like Fentanyl and heroin like it used to be it's not this organic drug Supply where you had coca and you turned it into cocaine or you had poppy seeds and you turned it into heroin it is really a chemical that's on the street now according to the Ohio narcotics Intelligence Center reports from 2021 through 2023 their area has seen eight times the number of drug samples containing trink dope they've seen more than double the amount of samples with benzo do it's really dangerous so you had fentanyl which was dangerous enough San says dealers are doing this to increase this strength of drugs in itself the xylazine and medamine are dangerous they're going to suppress your heart rate your lungs add fentanyl on top of that which does the same thing you're increasing the chances of overdosing or dying all right coming up a Brazilian Supreme Court Justice threatening to turn off X in the country if Elon Musk doesn't comply with demands we'll explain the latest in this all over representation coming up next e e a significant development this morning in the xais in Brazil it's developing here's why Brazilian Supreme Court Justice is threatening to shut down the local operations of X unless Elon Musk names a legal representative in Brazil within 24 hours earlier this month X removed all remaining Brazil staff saying the Justice who's behind all of this had insurance companies are forced to reassess how they price their premiums and here at the live desk SpaceX grounded the FAA is investigating an issue with yesterday's rocket launch what this could mean for the next planned launches coming up next e e e SpaceX launches are right now on hold after a booster rocket toppled over in flames and on the landing on Wednesday the FAA grounded the company's Falcon 9 rockets and ordered an investigation following the pre-dawn accident off of Florida's Coast thankfully no one was hurt public damage not reported and uh right now it is too early to know how much of an impact this will have on spacex's upcoming flights the first a private launch to take that same billionaire who launched on his own SpaceX flight last year back into space this time he'll get a chance to do a space walk the other flight in the works is for NASA to bring back the twers crew on Boeing's troubled Starliner they've been stuck at the ISS for many more months than expected bit across the board expect just a few scattered showers from monsoonal moisture across New Mexico that's the scene from [Music] here e e e the national desk America's news [Music] now breaking overnight officer killed this is a very tragic circumstance her heart goes out to the officer the search for a suspect and a shocking mishap with a gun taking an officer's life in the nation's capital assassin Insight the subject conducted more than 60 searches related to President Biden and former president Trump we are getting our first look at the gun used by Thomas Crooks as the FBI releases new info about the Trump rally shooting interview anticipation kamla Harris has not given any specificities let alone any vision of what she really wants to do from a public policy position vice president Harris set to face her first formal sit down and critics question why she won't be doing it alone and parental pressure as a parent now I have failed because I lost control of myself when I asked her to control her own emotions why raising kids today is getting a public health advisory live from the nation's capital this is the national desk America's news now I'm Amir David in for Jan Jeff coat it is Thursday August 29th and today Americans are expecting Democratic presidential nominee KLA Harris to explain her policy positions none at this point are listed on her campaign website it's been over a month since the vice president became the nominee accepting the nomination just one week ago without doing a formal interview since but that is about to change today and she won't be alone in that interview running mate Tim Walls will be at her side one critical assessment in the Wall Street Journal writing this is a deliberate attempt to limit the potential exposure risks for for the vice president walls will be there with a parachute to rescue the presidential candidate if she has a rough go Mark Bole is live at the live desk for us and Mark lots of anticipation around this interview one would imagine Millions will be watching tonight as VP kamla Harris will hold her very first TV interview as the Democratic Presidential nominee this comes on the heels of her Georgia bus tour her first public appearance since the DNC tonight's high stakes interview is her first chance to roll out her policies on a range of issues for voters it is the first time she's agreed to a sitdown interview in the 39 days since becoming nominee right now we are just 68 days away believe it or not from election day and still growing questions about her policies on immigration and international and economic concerns her lack of access has become a key point for critics Aransas Republican senator Tom Cotton had this to say Wednesday on Fox K Harris hasn't changed her position on trying to take health insurance away from 170 million people who get their health insurance on the job she hasn't changed her position on say decriminalizing illegal immigration and then giving illegal aliens health insurance at taxpayer expense but you know Pete even if she said those things we would know that they're all lies we know that she has a record that record goes back years in public office that's what she believes that's what's in her heart whatever she says now to get through the last 10 weeks of this campaign is is what the she thinks is politically expedient we will see how Harris responds tonight that interview will be hosted by Dana Bash it will be pre-recorded not live it'll air in Parts later tonight on CNN 900 p.m. eastern time and one Comm Harris policy getting more attention is the proposal to tax unrealized gains that's when people get taxed over investment gains that only exist on paper the Harris walls ticket proposing a 25% tax on unrealized capital gains for people with more than $100 million in wealth one Harris campaign rep got grilled over it if you were taxing unrealized gains all you're doing is pulling forward the taxes that would be paid later when someone actually sells the stock I I I I think that this reaction to unrealized gains is a little funny given that I bet that the majority of people watching right now are already paying a tax on unrealized gains it's called a property tax ta when the value of your home goes up a tax when the value of your home goes up you pay higher taxes even if you your value of your home never moves the way stock moves the way something always go to answer those host said the tax is likely unconstitutional but it's unclear at this point one projection says the tax could lead to nearly $800 billion in new government revenue the Border another hot issue voters want her to weigh in on the national desks Christine FAL breaks down what we now know about her evolved stance which is now viewed by many many as moving more toward the center vice president kamla Harris out on the campaign Trail powered by momentum and a modified message as president I will bring back the bipartisan Board of security bill that he killed and I will sign it into law that bipartisan border Bill includes $650 million to build new and fix existing portions of the border wall a wall featured prominently in a recent campaign ad fixing the border is tough so is kamla Harris it's a stance that's changed drastically since she ran for president the last time when in a post on Facebook she called Trump's border wall a complete waste of taxpayer money that won't make us any safer this Administration has decided to vilify them and to trade on them for the sake of This president's medieval vanity project called a wall her opponent and his supporters assert she had no role in negotiating the board Bill and accuse her of lying about her position to try to win more votes do you really believe she's going to build a wall that's just bull she's had four years to build a wall and she's done nothing for the last four years they've turned every Trump policy upside down that prevented illegal immigration and we're being overrun with 10 million people warnings about those large numbers of people now in the country have been mounting from Top intelligence officials I've never seen a time where all the threats or so many of the threats are all elevated all at exactly the same time those new threats along with shifts in voter sentiment could be reasons for the pivot we can be a nation of immigrants who love their country and a nation with a secure border the Harris campaign insists while the bipartisan border legislation was tough it was also Broad and included things like better technology to catch drug smugglers her campaign website so far is mostly absent of any official policy positions in Washington I'm Christine fow and despite Harris pledging to bring back the Border Bill one of its authors Oklahoma senator James Langford says it won't be revived many Republicans voted against the bill because it would have allowed a certain number of illegal entries each and every day a controversial program that let migrants apply for us entry that was paused over Mass fraud concerns could be brought back and BC news reporting the Biden Administration May revive the program this week with new vetting the program lets migrants from Cuba Haiti Nicaragua and Venezuela apply for legal entry if they have a sponsor in the United States but the program was halted last month after the Department of Homeland Security found almost 101,000 sponsor applications for what's called serial sponsors repeats that could indicate fraud Republican critics have claimed the program cont attributed to the migrant crisis by allowing the government to fly undocumented migrants into the us more than 300,000 migrants have arrived under the program since it began last year we're also following the arrest of an illegal migrant accused of killing a journalist ice has arrested Jorge Alberto Martinez Sanchez when he was in court in Louisiana as he was being arraigned for negligent homicide charges authorities say he was speeding without a license when he struck and killed a New Orleans TV news producer ice said Martinez Sanchez entered the US illegally this morning we're tracking severe thunderstorms in the midwest Montana and the Dakota hit overnight now Iowa and Minnesota are expecting some of those storms into tonight a live look to my left St Paul here right now and this is the active radar Winnipeg about to get some of those severe storms right now this morning here's a closer look at the area that could see those threats tonight including hail flooding and even the possibility of some tornadoes in the Minneapolis area will monitor that spanning all the way from De Moine through Minneapolis now this morning we're also tracking the cleanup efforts from the storms earlier this week Michigan still feeling the impacts when those severe storms knocked out power there to tens of thousands of people right now we just updated this number about 118,000 customers without power at the same time we are tracking some tropical movement in the Atlantic nothing major at this moment but it could strengthen over the next few days if it does it will impact the the Caribbean islands at some point next week we'll keep a close eye on all those weather stories for you right here at the live desk and online anytime at the National Weather desk part of the national desk.com all right Mark thank you and new developments related to Donald Trump's payment trial in New York the house Judiciary Committee subpoena the political consulting company that employs after meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's letter to Congress this week the national desk Matt Gela here with us right now and Matt you spoke with the Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan what did he have to say about this well he certainly felt like his committee's work was Vindicated but also said their work is not done it's part of the Fallout from Zuckerberg's letter admitting his company received government pressure to moderate content we think we've had a huge impact which again our Focus though is protecting the First Amendment that's that's that's what we've been focused on all along Ohio Republican and house Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan took a Victory lap after meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's letter admitting there was pressure from the Biden Administration to to censor content much of the letter revolved around covid-19 posts on Facebook and a warning from the FBI about Russian disinformation leading up to the 2020 election that warning caused a hunter Biden laptop story to be temporarily demoted let me ask you this do you trust Facebook today I feel a lot better about where we're at uh based on the work we've done we got to stay on top of this because we're talking about those fundamental Liberties fundamental privileges we enjoy As Americans Zuckerberg admitted in the letter that meta ultimately made the decisions on what post got taken down but that the pressure was wrong and in hindsight they'd make different decisions today Tech media personality Cara swisser blasted The Meta CEO's letter he also had certainly had enough power to push back and say something publicly at the time um I think you know he can have regrets but they're his regrets his business decision regrets and to to use the term pressure it's just it's just it's just currying favor with Jim Jordan more Fallout former New York Times journalist Alex baronson told Fox News Zuckerberg's letter will impact his lawsuit against the Biden Administration baronson sued the administration along with fiser higher ups for First Amendment violations after he was banned from Twitter in 2021 for posting about covid vaccine skepticism and another part of Zuckerberg's letter also addressed donations his philanthropy donated to voting rights groups in 2020 to increase access to the polls Republicans repeatedly critici ize those donations and he won't be making them again telling lawmakers in his letter he wants to remain neutral and not appear to be playing a role in influencing the election outcome reporting in Washington I'm Matt Gela for the national desk America's News Now Matt thank you ahead this morning parental pressure why more people say it is getting more stressful to raise kids and how it's impacting mental health then Rising rates what's driving car bring it to you right here at the live desk and new information about the gunman who tried to assassinate former president Donald Trump the FBI releasing photos that we're just getting our first look at we're getting our first look at the rifle used by Thomas Crooks at that Butler Pennsylvania rally as well as the backpack and explosives he had in his car the FBI says crook started re researching devices in 2019 and had been researching Democratic and Republican campaign events for months in an interview Trump calling out how the current Administration has treated him I think to a certain extent it's Biden's fault and Harris's fault and I'm the opponent look they were weaponizing government against me the FBI is still in investigating Crook's motive and if he worked alone vice presidential candidate JD Vance hit Battleground States visiting voters in Erie Pennsylvania and in Green Bay Wisconsin where he called out vice president Harris's job performance she stands before crowds like this and she'll say without a hint of irony or a hint of shame that on day one my friend she is going to tackle the affordability crisis that's affecting American families and on day one she's going to make groceries more affordable and on day one she is going to make it possible for young people to afford a home and every single person with an ounce of sense is saying well kamla day live it could be as much as 50% more the national desks Jana Bowen joining us now with a breakdown of the numbers and Jana who will see the highest bumps here yeah good morning Amira insure IFI predicts California Missouri and Minnesota could see car insurance cost increase by more than 50% damage from severe storms and wildfires contrib contributes to Rising rates in those States the average annual full coverage premium Now costs over $2,300 the higher prices have led some people to get rid of their cars $520 for car insurance that is more than the car payment on my lease how do I cancel how do I cancel my car insurance I don't need to drive anymore $520 I do not drive a luxury vehicle I'm in a Honda HRV now Maryland where I live has the high is car insurance cost in the US with an average full coverage rate of $3,400 per year and Amira if you want the cheapest rate we'll have to move to New Hampshire drivers there pay an average of a thousand wow that's a big difference and we know weather Jana plays a big role in the pricing here but what are some of the other reasons for the price hikes yes so I looked at data from Fox Business that shows car prices Rose after covid because of supply chain issues and high demand this pushed prices up for repairs too and there's a shortage of mechanics now car insurance companies are also making up for 2021 losses because of a high number of fatal car accidents compounding issues there all right Jana Bowens live for us this morning thank you so much a health alert grocery chain Stop and Shop won't sell cigarettes anymore 70s for high today with low humidity it's really nice stretch over the next few days courtesy of high pressure in place look for comfortable daytime highs cool nighttime lows and low humidity will be with us right through the end of the week so let's take into Friday now notice a lot of sun continues best chance for a shower will probably be in New York and New Jersey this round of wet weather should bring uh some showers to the area on Saturday I'm chief meteorologist Gerard jav here's a look at the Mid-Atlantic region your Thursday is going to be a lot cooler we'll keep some clouds in the vicinity and across the area we could see a couple of showers or thunderstorms popping up towards your late afternoon on again your Thursday afternoon Friday looks to be fairly similar starting out with partly sunny skies across the area and again a couple afternoon showers or thunderstorms the best news is the high heat is starting to push out of the area we're going to be looking at highs only in the 80s on your Thursday Friday even cooler good Thursday morning meet around Michael arberg with a check of your Southeast regional forecast for this Thursday uh parts of coastal Texas and lisiana some heavy downpours coming on Shore some flooding possible in that area other than that heat of the day will pop up various areas of spotty showers and storms for just about every state over the Southeastern us and then things will wind down as we head on into the late evening hours very hot across the interior 101 Nashville 97 tupo pretty much 90s everywhere else good Thursday morning everyone I'm meteorologist Andrew Buck Michael we have highs in the 90s and some scattered showers and storms working its way across the uh the Midwest here uh a little cooler to the north got some 70s on the map but uh it'll start to cool down and dry out behind this cold front in this rain you can see by Friday pretty sunny there across the Northern Plains and the dtas and look at all the sunshine starting to spread across the uh the Midwest on Saturday still some rain to the south and east moving its way out of here and even cooler heading into next week good morning I'm m r just Alex Garcia here's a look at your Regional weather everybody's waking up in the 70s this morning with the exception for our our friends in New Orleans at 80° a little humid up there we're watching a lot of Gulf moisture move up and plenty of clouds they'll be hit Miss showers all across the area all the way back up in the north Texas as a cold FL starts to make its way through otherwise temperatures will be very summer likee for the rest of the day I'm meteorologist Alex Garcia that's a look at your Regional weather good morning I'm meteorologist Rebecca Stevenson here's what's happening across the West most everyone in the west has somewhat quiet weather but we we got a lot of warmer temperatures building in so as the warmup gets going we do have some freeze warnings and frost advisories in parts of Montana boy they are waking up with some chilly weather and it's been a while since we've had chilly temperatures to start the day out but we're going to warm up quite a bit across the board expect just a few scattered showers from monsoonal moisture across New Mexico that's the scene from [Music] here e e e the national desk America's news [Music] now now on the national desk America's news now Labor Day deals already priced out Americans are hoping for a break this long weekend we look at where shopping experts say the deals will be plus whether it's the Second Amendment or if it was the fact that the working class and the middle class been decimated by the Harris fight and inflation policies they can spend as much time as they want there it's a heavy song to sell must-win State vice president Harris set to speak in Georgia as new polling shows which way independent voters are leaning and international tension from China to the Middle East to Ukraine President Biden hoping to cool down the global temperature before he leaves office thank you so much for joining us you are watching The National Des America's news now I'm Amir David in for Jan Jeffcoat it is Thursday August 29th and we start this morning with new developments out of the Middle East this morning Israel says it is conducting a large scale counterterrorism operation in the West Bank that has already turned deadly and Mark Bole is at the live desk following all the details emerging for us right now Mark what do we know Amir this morning we are getting some new video in right now Israeli forces are continuing that large full force on operation in the West Bank taking out at least 10 Hamas terrorists making arrests in the process and sealing off the city of Janine a longtime Hamas stronghold on X Israel's foreign minister calling for similar measures taken in Gaza to take out the terror group saying quote we must deal with the threat just as we deal with terrorist infrastructure in Gaza including the temporary evacuation of Palestinian residents and whatever steps might be required this is a war in every respect and we must win also into the live desk some brand new video this is showing the demolition of the underground tunnels the dismantling of nearly 2 miles long worth of those tunnels in Gaza part of the tunnel was destroyed back in 2014 but since then the ter group has worked on restoring it meantime this morning more about President Biden's knowledge about the Gaza Pier he did approved that plan and it was a troubled peer from the get-go despite warnings from within the government that Rough Waters could POS serious challenges the Inspector General report adds Firepower for critics here questioning why the US put troops In Harm's Way for a mission that fa so many foreseen challenges it did cost taxpayers more than $230 million and was ultimately not successful we're watching the developments this morning both in the Middle East and here in Washington new details as they come in here at the live desk and online anytime at the national desk.com and we are giving you a live look over the White House where President Biden is reportedly expected to speak over the phone with Chinese president xiin ping in the coming weeks it would be their first publicly known conversation since April today National Security adviser Jake Sullivan wrapping up a three-day visit to China he raised concerns over taiwan's Independence freedom of the South China Sea and concerns over China's support of Russia meantime Ukraine is asking the Pentagon for permission to use more advanced American weapons for its offensive into Russian territory right now the us only allows Ukraine to fire shorter range missiles into Russia for self-defense Ukrainian officials also expected to present the US with a peace plan to end the war by November and turning now to November's election today vice president kamla Harris will give her first on the record interview since becoming the Democratic nominee for president she will sit alongside her running mate Tim Walls and the interview will air tonight at 9900 p.m. Eastern on CNN a brand new poll out this morning showing former president Donald Trump gaining some ground with independent voters Harris has 37% support to Trump's 42% that is the first ugv pull out since Robert F Kennedy Jr suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump meantime some more new polling out of Fox News shows just how much the election has changed since Harris became the Democratic nominee the national desks Matt Gela is here with more on why the focus is now turning to Georgia Matt yeah these poll numbers really put things into perspective Fox News polls in Georgia before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race had Trump up six points a 51 to 45 margin over the current president but the latest poll released yesterday has kamla Harris up 50 to 48 making Georgia a margin of error race and putting the pivotal State back in play it's one of the reasons the Harris campaign is hitting the areas way outside of Atlanta on their bus tour now Trump's team downplayed Harris's momentum there but at the end of the day they can do this rural tour they can do this city tour the bottom line is is the Vol the the values the San Francisco values of CA Harris do not match up with rural Georgia whether it's Sanctuary cities whether it's whether it's the second amendment or if it's the fact that the working class and the middle class been decimated by the Harris Biden inflation policies Biden narrowly beat Trump in Georgia in 2020 and Republican Governor Brian Kemp is calling his Battleground State a must-win for republicans in order to have a path to the White House reporting in Washington I'm Matt Gela for the national desk America's news now all right Matt thank you and right now the Labor Day travel Rush is getting underway with some of the busiest days on the road and at the airport in front of us the CSA expects to have its busiest Labor Day travel period ever and highway travel that is expected to be up 9% when compared with last year now if you do plan to drive we're seeing a little bit of relief at the pump so that's good news right now the average price for a gallon of gas is $336 last year it was 382 and with Labor Day just a few days away and with many households running on tight budgets we wanted you to get a head start on your labor day shopping plan because it's always about shopping smart the national desks Jana Bowen's here with us now to tell us us how we can make our dollar stretch just a little bit more labor day is one of the best three-day weekends for sales smart shopping expert Trey bodge says you'll see good deals on mattresses appliances furniture clothes and shoes you're going to be seeing discounts 60% off plus so it's a really good time to plan ahead for families it's also really good for parents who perhaps didn't get everything they needed for back to school yet according to Retail Me Not Shoppers plan to spend an average of 350 $4 Labor Day weekend Target Walmart Home Depot Amazon Wayfair Kohl's that's where you're going to find those big big discounts I would also say that if there's a brand that you like go directly to that brand because they will be having Labor Day sales if you need help deciding whether to shop online or in person here are a few things to consider online shopping allows uh an ease to saving so you can do more price comparison you can use coupon sites or if you're buying clothing and you're not super familiar with that brand you should try things on and lay on that mattress sit on that couch so you can have that real experience with the item because it is getting harder and harder to return things uh return fees are are back in in a real way and so you should really get there in person now a new bank rate survey shows 74% of Americans think inflation is erasing their hard work but at the same time Amir the majority maity think Labor Day sales offer good deals and it's a Bittersweet situation really because there are some things people should avoid buying at this time of year what are those yeah so experts say it's not the time to buy Christmas decor you can get it cheaper later and if you don't see the sale you want on any particular item hold tight we'll see another round of sales in October yeah more good deals to come Jana Bowen's reporting for us thank you so much Republican Le States celebrating another Supreme Court decision against the Biden Administrations controvers student loan plan the court denied that a white denied a White House request to lift an injunction that put the save plan on hold yesterday's order has no immediate impact on the 8 million borrowers currently enrolled Missouri attorney general Andrew Bailey who is challenging the administration released a statement saying in part the court order is a stark reminder to the Biden Administration the Congress did not grant them the authority to saddle working Americans with $500 billion in someone else's ivy league debt and still ahead here on the national desk Inside the NFL the new program offering a unique perspective combining Legendary Super Bowl players and coaches and here at the W desk we're tracking a possible United Airlines flight attendance strike after they voted in favor for it for the first time in 20 years we'll have the possible timeline on when this could happen [Music] next e e e [Music] well in just one week the NFL football season kicks off and along with exciting games will come the exciting expert commentary that so many of us love to hear one program offering a unique perspective combining Legendary Super Bowl players and coaches is inside the NFL hosted by Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl champ Ryan Clark and he joins us right now to talk about what to expect this season Ryan so good to have you here and we got to start off with who's joining in you this season you are enough my friend you are entertaining enough but this season you've got eight time Super Bowl champion bill bellachic so what a steal for you guys what has that been like so far and what energy do you expect him to bring it's been amazing uh we've had opportunities to just sit and talk and when you get an opportunity to talk to coach Bell you realize how much knowledge he has but also how much he respects the game of football and I remember our first conversation at the draft we were sitting in the suite in Detroit and we started talking about some of the things he did with the New England Patriots offense and I could just see him relax and sort of fall into a place of comfort and he's actually funny as heck when we're in the edit room when he's talking about different things in the game he's constantly joking but it's like that dry sense of humor so imagine being in like Wedding Crashers with also the most decorated coach of all time and that's what it's been like to be around coach bellich it's been a really good learning experience for me such a historian but also great to get to know him outside of the press conferences where all he says is we're moving on to Cincinnati I'm excited I think it'll be a great opportunity for people to get to know him in a different way so that's really cool and we know you're a sports broadcaster not a sports forecaster but since we have you here give us your predictions whatever you can give us uh based on what we've seen in the preseason and and just what you feel the Chiefs for example back-to-back Champions what do you expect from them this year I mean like think about Patrick Mahomes right um you know I'm a lot older than you Mr miror so you don't probably remember what it's like to watch Michael Jordan play basketball and understand that all of these dudes are going to be Hall of Famers and they're great players but they're not going to win championships that's who Patrick Mahomes is in the AFC think about Lamar Jackson Josh Allen Joe burrow all of these great players still don't have super Bowl wins because they have to go through that guy this team's added pieces offensively we know Andy Reid's an absolute Legend when it comes to the coaching profession and I think they're going to be one of the top teams in the NFL this year again and they'll as long as Patrick Mahomes kind of is like upright walking and basically breathing this is going to be one of the best teams in the entire league yeah it's that momes Kelsey partnership that just seems to succeed every time and what other story lines is your team following I got got to ask you are you following my Detroit Lions are you hopeful for my Detroit Lions this year yeah you know what's so funny it's like I've met all of these Detroit fans recently and I'm so high on Detroit right I think Detroit's one of the best teams in the entire NFC think about it they were 30 minutes away from going to the Super Bowl yeah but then Detroit fans always tell me yeah but Detroit's going to Detroit and we expected that to happen no you guys never expected to be where you were last year what Dan Campbell has built has is absolutely phenomenal Jared G finally getting his J due they're taking care of their homegrown players and like Detroit's now a place that people want to play along with the Green Bay Packers along with the San Francisco 49ers this is a team that'll be contending to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl and that's the storyline we love we love to see it we love the Cinderella story so of course I'm rooting for them I hope you're rooting for them too um just a quick household note Inside the NFL moving to a new night Fridays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern tell us about that how does that change the format of your show if at all well what it changes is like we'll be looking ahead now NFL films always has the best sights the best sounds and we'll throw back to some of those things because you don't want to lose what Steve Sab built at NFL films right you don't want to lose what the inside the NFL has always been but now you have a guy like Bill bich that at the end of shows every show he's going to give you a game plan for the week so he'll be standing at a Podium with game film with the things that we could do at NFL films telling you why your favorite team needs to do a certain thing and we'll also get to look ahead at all the best games of the weekend and so we're really excited to change the format and when you have somebody like Bill bellich who's prepared the best teams of the last two decades I think it offers a unique perspective into what the weekend's games will be you guys got a good lineup that is for sure and I'll be watching I'll be tuning in host of the CWS Inside the NFL Ryan Clark thank you so much for being with us thank you Amir you have a great day I think that show is going to do pretty well right there so for the first time now shifting gears just for a moment in nearly two decades United Airlines flight attendants voting in favor of authorizing a strike if Executives fail to agree to increase benefits 28,000 flight attendants across the system took part in this vote and of those get this number 99.99% voted in favor of the strike if they don't get their demands including double digit pay increases schedule flexibility retirement benefits and job security the possible strike will not impact Labor Day weekend travel so that's some good news the strike vote is really just a procedural one and while it does mean the chances of a strike are increased it's not likely that flight attendants will walk off the job even if they do it will take months for this to happen this is the national desk America's news now we have reporters all across the country in your neighborhoods covering ing the issues that matter most to you from local farmers in Texas struggling to make ends meet to a new and deadlier type of drug popping up across Ohio we are taking the pulse of America and we begin in the state of Maine where community members are raising concerns about the public water [Music] supply Lisbon residents say this isn't the first time they've dealt with random days of discolored and smelly water it's disturbing you don't expect to see water that is uh Brown Abby Cody says this has a significant impact on her family we have a one-year-old um so we when this happens like we can't give her a bath we can't give her water one person in town showed us pictures of their laundry stained by the sturdy water meaning lots of leftover cleanup the Lisbon water district says it's working on a plan to help fix and prevent this issue we hope that there's a more permanent six solution found soon cuz we've been here for 4 years and it happens more frequently than it [Music] should they have to rent their spot or pay for their spot to be there and then they they don't sell all their watermelons was it really profitable for them farmers markets had become less common and with less produce than in the past Nando contributes that to changes the industry has gone through 35 years to be there was a lot more smaller local farmers food safety has changed a lot of that the regulations and government has changed a lot of that to where it's harder for them so these smaller Farms have gone to well into co-ops into the larger farms and and it's much more expensive the cost because of this farmers markets that are still around have changed these farmers markets are utilizing other things to supplement they're selling candles or honey or candy so it might change the face of what a a true farmers market is [Music] two new drug mixtures are popping up across the Midwest Tran dope and benzo doe are different combinations of sedatives added to opioids like Fentanyl and heroin like it used to be it's not this organic drug Supply where you had coca and you turned it into cocaine or you had poppy seeds and you turned it into heroin it is really a chemical lab that's on the street now according to the Ohio narcotics Intelligence Center reports from 2021 through 2023 their area has seen eight times the number of drug samples containing trink dope they've seen more than double the amount of samples with benzo dope it's really dangerous so you had fentanyl which was dangerous enough San says dealers are doing this to increase this strength of drugs in itself the xylazine and metamine are dangerous they're going to suppress your heart rate your lungs add fentanyl on top of that which does the same thing you're increasing the chances of overdo dosing or dying a Brazilian Supreme Court Justice threatening to turn off X in the country of Elon Musk doesn't comply with demands we'll tell you about the latest fight over representation in 90 seconds e e here's the live D this morning a significant development in X access in Brazil is developing after a Brazilian Supreme Court justice price their premiums and here at the live just coming up SpaceX grounded the FAA investigating an issue with yesterday's rocket launch went that could mean for the next plan launches coming up e e SpaceX Launches on hold after a booster rocket toppled over in flames in the landing process Wednesday the FAA grounded the company's Falcon 9 rockets and ordered an investigation following the pre-dawn accident off of Florida's Coast thankfully no injuries or public damage were reported right now it is too early to know how much of an impact this will have on spacex's upcoming crew flights the first a private launch to take the same billionaire who launched his own SpaceX flight last year back to space this time he'll get a chance to take his first spacewalk the other flight in the
