Eli Manning talks return of ‘ManningCast’

Monday Night Football returns tonight that also means Manning cast is back for its fourth season with Eli and Payton Manning give us their take on the games Eli Manning joins us now good morning Eli how's it going oh good morning uh thanks for having me on you guys went all out when you announced the Manning cast special we want to show everyone a look at Manning cast the musical when you're sitting on your couch and it's Monday night and you can't find the remote you search with all your might the TV going ESPN and you're thinking what is this awful sight it's the Manning cast now football F you who knew you guys could sing too how did you come up with this idea well just trying to get everybody excited for Monday Night Football and and our version of how we watch football and basically I sit on my couch and I get to make fun of pton a little bit and and we have a lot of guests come on lot of right there yeah Rob Roberts your own very own GMA Robin Roberts was in the in the uh in the Cameo for the uh for the man uh cast uh right there and so uh you know it's we're excited for football season and we wanted to show we have other talents and just you know talking about football well you do have the voice of an angel I must say you also scored bill bich for this season which is a huge win yeah definitely we're excited to have coach belich on every week he's going to come on for a little bit and I mean no one knows the game of football more than him pyton and I like to talk about the offensive side we need to you know bring in somebody on the defensive side and uh with him you know taking this year off uh we're excited to have get his insights on everything going on and he's going to be a great addition to the show Adam shef ESPN reported that bich might be coming back to coaching what do you make of that hey I I think it I think he definitely will go back to coaching he's he's too good of a coach not to be involved you can see he's still studying the game he's watching all the film of everybody so he's he's so insightful when when he talks about anything related to football everybody listens because it's going to be you know something you know that that you're going to learn you're going to learn something new he knows the game so well on both sides of the ball so I think he his his passion is still there his drive and his knowledge so I think he uh definitely get back in the game and and be a great coach again there's going to be a lot of eyes on tonight's game Aaron roders is back on the field for the Jets versus the 49ers what are you expecting well it should be a great game and and obviously you have the 49ers that were in the Super Bowl last year and you have the Jets that want to get to the Super Bowl this year and they think they can do that with a healthy Aaron Rodgers um we had them last year in the first Monday night game of the season did not go well for the Jets and Aaron Rogers only four plays and had the injury so I know he's excited to get back the the team's excited um and they feel they can be an explosive offense to go with their already really strong defense so hey I'm excited to see him also I want to see him out there in the Jets uniform and this new new offense and Garrett Wilson all the weapons that he has and and hopefully he can stay healthy and and and perform at the level he expects to two big rule changes in the NFL this year walk everyone through what they are and what they mean all right so one is this hip tackle which is a a way of tackling where you kind of you know go from behind you leave your feet you wrap around and you land on the back of the of the runner's legs and it was just creating a lot of injuries and the NFL is all about we we you know we we want to keep these great players on the field we want to keep them healthy you can't afford to have a style of tackling or hitting that's going to create injuries and it was just the numbers show that when you have this this type of tackle it is a great chance that a player is going to get injured so they eliminated that um which is good and then the kickoff rules same thing kind of just trying to prevent injuries instead of having guys running from 30 yards away and and hitting each other starting a little closer uh where you're not having those great hits right away on every play um and then a bet you know better chance if the ball is returned to have some longer kickoffs and some returns there was a a kickoff return yesterday for a touchdown so um it's just all about safety you still want to create you know great plays and opportunities but if there's something that's you know not affecting the game it's not going to make it slower it's not going to make it less physical or less exciting but it's going to you know keep guys on the field and keep them healthy that's what it's all about sure is Eli thanks for coming in this morning you all can see the Manny Castle Monday Night Football returns tonight at 8 Eastern and ESPN 2un
