THE BIG STORY BEFORE THE STORMS WAS THE HEAT. WE MADE IT TO 99 TODAY IN CHICAGO. 3:00, WE HAD A HEAT INDEX OF 115 DEGREES. THAT IS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF ENERGY AND MOISTURE. AS THE FRONT WAS MOVING TO THE AREA, IT AND ALL THE ENERGY AND MOISTURE, WHICH MADE FOR A BUSY EVENING. THINGS CONTINUE TO THE SOUTH, SOUTH OF I-80. DOWNPOURS FROM NORTHWEST INDIANA THROUGH THE KANKAKEE RIVER VALLEY TO LaSALLE COUNTY AND WE ARE KEEPING AN EYE ON THIS STRONG THUNDERSTORM. APPROACHING SEVERE WEATHER LIMITS IN KANKAKEE COUNTY. TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF RAINFALL AND LIGHTNING. I'VE BEEN KEEPING AN EYE ON THE DOPPLER RADAR. THE WINDS HAVE WEAKENED A BIT BUT WE HAVE COST COMING IN GIVING 50 MILES PER HOUR TO THE SOUTH OF 19 AND TO THE NORTH OF KANKAKEE . IT IS MOVING OFF TO THE EAST AND WE WILL WATCH THAT. THAT IS WHERE THE HEAVY RAINFALL IS, TO THE SOUTH. WE ARE DRY IN CHICAGO BUT NOT DONE WITH THE RAIN JUST YET. IT APPEARS TO BE:00, 4:00 AM, A WINDOW FOR MORE RAIN BEAUTY SEE THAT AROUND PEORIA. THAT IS MOVING IN FROM THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST. AS THAT SYSTEM COMES IN, IT IS GOING TO ENCOUNTER A DRY AND COOL HER ATMOSPHERE. NO SEVERE WEATHER EXPECTED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT IN CHICAGO BUT MORE STORMS ACTED IN OVERNIGHT. 76 DEGREES IN CHICAGO AFTER THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 99 RECORD THIS AFTERNOON SET IN 1873. IT WAS A 97 DEGREE RECORD. THERE IS A LOOK AT THE SHOWERS, THUNDERSTORMS DOWN TO THE SOUTH. WATCH THE NEXT WAVE COME IN OUT OF THE SOUTHWEST AFTER MIDNIGHT. IS 3:00 AM. COULD HAVE HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND THUNDER, LIGHTNING, POND AND ON THE ROADWAY. FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE MORNING COMMUTE, THERE IS RAIN AROUND. A LOT OF THIS IS ON THE LIGHT SIDE, EVEN AT 8:00 AM. WE WILL KEEP A CHANCE FOR SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS TOMORROW AFTERNOON. IT IS COOLER TOMORROW. WE ARE TALKING MID-80s FOR. THAT IS 1:00. WATCH THE LAKE BREEZE, IMPAIRED WATCH THE TEMPERATURES COOL INTO THE 70s. THE LEAK BREEZE COULD OFFER AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR STORM TOMORROW. WE ARE GETTING RID OF THE EXTREME HEAT. NOT GETTING RID OF THE MOISTURE JUST YET. THE MOISTURE WILL STAY HIGH. IT FEELS LIKE THE 90s. THE INDEX FEELS LIKE THE 90s ON THURSDAY WITH A SMALLER CHANCE OF RAIN.
