Texas Longhorns' Dominant Win and Unexpected Shutout The Bear Of Texas (00:02.776)
Good evening everybody. It's time for another rather unique sports verdict. And
now that college football is back and I have a little more free time, well, I'm so blessed
to take the opportunity. So quite frankly, I'm going to take the initiative. Texas
football, the Longhorns versus Colorado State. 52 -0 win for the Longhorns.
Well, obviously it's no surprise. I knew that Texas would win big, but a shutout?
Well, that was probably the unexpected part. Something that was obviously not surprising
was obviously Quinn Ewer's dominating. Did throw one interception, but it happens.
I can honestly say that the Longhorns... Many insist that the Longhorns are
going to be something big this year. The Longhorns, unfortunately in my case, for so
long it's just been frustration and frustration and disappointment and disappointment.
Ever since that fateful day in early 2010 in the National Championship, since
then, the Longhorns had never been quite the same. Last season something was a little
bit different. The Longhorns won the Big 12, you know, almost got a spot in the National
Championship, unfortunately came up short. So something positive did happen last
season. So as far as this season goes, we'll have to wait and see because
as we know next week, the Longhorns take on the defending champions, the Michigan
Wolverines. As far as I'm concerned right now, I don't have any predictions. I don't even
know what to expect. Although I am surprised that ESPN have the Longhorns as the favorites.
But you know what? We'll just wait and see. As far as Quinn Ewers goes, I expect that this
season is going to be his last with the Texas Longhorns. I certainly expect him to declare
for the draft following this season. know, recently on my Dallas Cowboys podcast, Cowboys
Talk, which I kindly ask if you would please subscribe to, if the Dak Prescott era were
to come to an end this particular season, The Bear Of Texas (02:15.64)
And if the Cowboys finished so bad that they got a top 10 draft pick and
they desperately needed a quarterback, well, Quinn Ewers would certainly be the right
pick for the Dallas Cowboys. But I think we're getting too far ahead of ourselves.
I know that I'm getting ahead of myself big time. But Quinn Ewers is slated
to have a better season this year. Quinn Ewers' Performance and Potential Draft by the Dallas Cowboys Now the Longhorns, 52 -0. The game started
off a little bit slow. Now the second quarter certainly got better because
at halftime, the Longhorns led 31 -0. The Bear Of Texas (02:56.6)
You know, things got so well, so I'm so blessed that I was able to go watch this game,
catch up with some friends, you know, at a place where I used to bar back, you know, catch up with
some of the bartenders that I used to work with, some of the managers and some of the customers
that remember me from when I was working. So that was a blessing. Now, the Longhorns, know, surprisingly only three penalties. Hmm. A six for
12 third down efficiency. That's something, know, Certainly, you know, some would say that
they would expect it better. the Longhorns, 545 yards of total offense, average and close
to about seven and a half yards per play. Looking at the stats Quinn yours 20 for
27 260 yards three touchdowns and one interception So I'll say this Quinn yours
had a great day But a day to remember in this one is Arch Manning the nephew of Peyton
and Eli Manning Arch Manning came in the game five for six 95 yards his first career
touchdown pass with the Texas Longhorns So this special day to remember, Arch Manning
not only threw his first career touchdown pass, but he actually managed to score his
first career rush touchdown as well. So on the same day, if you're gonna
throw your first ever touchdown pass of your collegiate football career, why not
make it two? And you know what? Better yet, why not throw one? And then you know what?
Why not just run in for one? Incredible. Now considering that this is Quinn Ewer's final
season with the Texas Longhorns more than likely, obviously Arch Manning is a retrofreshman
right now. So I would imagine that next season is obviously going to be Arch Manning's
first season as the full -time starter, so the Longhorns better start giving him
a little bit more reps in order to prepare him. Now obviously they would say they'll
prepare him during the offseason, but hey, you gotta start somewhere and you might as
well get a little bit ahead in the game. Preparing Arch Manning for the Future The Bear Of Texas (05:04.056)
So in this particular one, note the running game. Jared Gibson, 10 carries for 67 yards,
averaged about seven yards per carry scored once. You know, it's just, know, it seems the
wide receiver core, which is actually very, very respectable, especially because the long ones
lost a couple of wide receivers in the draft. Ryan Wingo led it with 70 yards. Now, I actually
believe it on Isaiah Bond had the most catches in this one with five catches for 61 yards. But
the fact that, the fact that all these receivers averaged no more than 15 yards per catch,
mean, Ryan Wingo had four catches for 70 yards. averaged 17 .5 yards per catch.
Isaiah Bond, five catches, 61 yards, 12 yards per catch and scored a touchdown.
Matthew Golden, three catches, 50 yards, averaging about 17 yards per catch and two
touchdowns. So the wide receiver course certainly looks respectable. The defense
actually managed to play well. But again, this is against Colorado State. So let's see
how the long ones can go moving forward. Again, I'm getting ahead of way ahead of
myself, especially those that are insisting that Longhorns could be something
huge this year. Now keep in mind, as I said, the biggest story in this one is Arch Manning,
his first career touchdown pass and his first career rushing touchdown for the Longhorns.
But also, the big story here as well is that this is the first season in the SEC
for the Texas Longhorns. So, you know, several years ago, I said the Longhorns are
gonna get their butts kicked in the SEC. Challenges Ahead: Facing the Michigan Wolverines and SEC Play Now right now it's still truly to tell because the
next game again on the road against the University of Michigan and then they got UTSA at home and
they got Louisiana Monroe and on September 28th, that's when the SEC play starts because they'll
start off with Mississippi State before having the Red River rivalry game with the University
of Oklahoma who is also now in the SEC. Man, number one Georgia will be in
Austin on the 19th of October. The Bear Of Texas (07:08.792)
Georgia a 34 to 3 win over Clemson Huh? And even a game
over floor even a game against, Florida and Austin and speaking of Florida
Just got clobbered by the University of Miami Man, so even... and of course, how can I forget
this one? The return of the freaking rivalry between the Texas A Aggies. Man, man, man.
So many precious games to look forward to. Man, they got off on the right foot, 52 to nothing
over Colorado State, but again, the question is, will they be able to keep it going moving
forward, specifically when SEC play starts? Man Look at it from here man seeing Florida right
now at the very bottom after their first game Certainly not used to that And seeing Texas in the
SEC after seeing them in the big 12 for all those years I mean now that I look at the big 12 man
Call me in Colorado. I mean the Colorado is really looking like something huge a lot to wait until
again Let's not get ahead of ourselves. So man The Longhorns really are hoping that the program
can be successful for years to come. Just like back in the day, during the days
of Vince Young, the days of Colt McCoy, even before that. Because in the post -Colt
McCoy era, things have just not gone well at all. I mean, there's been some success,
there's been a little bit of success, but nothing compared to the previous
eras. So the Longhorns are determined to start an era of success, an era that
can last for a very, very long time. Aspirations for Success and a National Championship The Bear Of Texas (08:51.96)
So, I mean, obviously, winning the national championship again would be huge. They
haven't won it since 2005. So, and of course, last year, in a sugar bowl, losing 37 -31 to
the University of Washington, that was pretty difficult to deal with, but, know, Longhorn still
brought home the Big 12 championship, so not all was lost. So, they brought home something,
and that's what matters. So, as I am here, talking about it of course you know a game
right now that I've got my eye out on is Notre Dame versus Texas A boy and that's
a game you know that's certainly a game I surely want to do a verdict on. We'll
sell things you know for the rest of the day but obviously I gotta spend some time
talking about the University of Florida in Miami because Florida Gators I've got
several friends that love the Florida Gators including my business partner Mr.
Darnell Salins aka the playmaker. By the way runs a college football show called Baron down
the grid iron. If you love college football, I strongly suggest that you subscribe
to Baron down the grid iron. Man, Darnell the playmaker, when it comes to
talking about his Florida Gators, well, he ain't gonna sugar coat nothing. He is gonna
tell it like it is. And ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you, Darnell has got
to be quite unhappy as we speak. And I'm sure that he'll be curious to know what I
have to say. So I wouldn't be surprised if what I said on the next verdict between the University
of Miami and the University of Florida. Well, I'm sure it's gonna get under his skin, but at
the end of the day, he's one who also says, don't worry about who you piss off, just tell it like
it is. And that's what I've been doing my entire career. So I will show no fear. So congrats to
the Texas Longhorns on a very, very strong start. What a way to start but we'll see how things
go moving forward against this was against the Colorado State Rams 52 to nothing long ones,
you know the fact that no in the top five Well, long ones have a lot to prove So the question
is will they be able to prove themselves and solidify themselves as a worthy contender?
For the national title that remains to be seen Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for
tuning into this rather unique sports verdict If you would please subscribe to this channel
