Jerry Hamilton we are three days away from kickoff it is game week so tell us who your favorite number three is tell us where you're checking in from get your questions in and we will get to those here in just a little bit by the way we do have Texas Women's Basketball coach Vic schaer joining us here in just a little bit as well so that that's always a very very fun time but let's uh let's jump right into the number threes for today fellas this one a no-brainer Quinn yours uh yeah I think as this as Quinn goes this season goes to some degree right um I was talking to Bob Shipley and u Brian Irwin yesterday on the the lunch with the Coach episode that we uh rekindled to start the season hope you guys are enjoying that uh but listening to those two coaches I was uh a little um taken aback by how confident both of those guys were that Quinn was going to be better this year um and and what I mean by that I I think Quinn's gonna be better as well I mean it makes sense right he's third year starter Etc but both of those guys guys were almost um we're almost just completely uh convinced that he's going to be significantly better um and I thought it was it's like they think it's a given where I'm saying uh can he get better in the pocket is he and they're just like look that's a natural progression I've they've they've both as coaches they've both seen it a thousand times is what it is and so they just it it was that was interesting to me uh but yes Quinn Urus clearly the favorite number three on the roster today then another number three on the roster guys Jaylen Gilbo he mo from hey Jerry was he 13 in high school because he was 13 on the roster a year ago is he uh three was he three in high school do you remember I I don't remember that I had to use this picture because it had just the three showing so I cheated on this one but I'm aware of what I'm doing today unlike yesterday so that's a plus and then our our next one fellas going back uh to about 2008 here yeah uh some big runs big runs against Oklahoma by the way big runs uh one of the better allaround running backs pass Pro catching the ball out of the back field that's the reason you stick in the NFL and have a roll in the NFL for a while like Chris obai did also tough kid out of straight J with ey wow here's another one and I bet you didn't put this one somebody just grant just mentioned it Shawn Mitchell Jerry back backfield mate of uh priest holes yeah Sean Mitchell had super speed now he was at 435 guy back in the day before we were all timing him at camps yep and then one other one got guys one of the best defensive backs at Texas Nathan vasher and one of the best punt returners yeah hey you know that he has an NFL record that will never be topped 10 n 109 yard kick return for a touchdown off a off of a field goal attempt obviously Jordan Hicks is another number three battled injuries at Texas that's why you know keep the faith in some of these guys cedri Baxter that's battled some injuries um but uh you know keep the faith Jordan Whittington Wayne McGarity back the day Jordan Hicks battle injuries at Texas was never the player people thought he'd be as a top five ranked player in the country in the 2010 class coming out of high school but you know what once he got healthier playing in the NFL became an all pro level player Curtis Brown out of Gilmer another one people are mentioning chat that's interesting because you know Jeff Traer was his high school head coach and I went up there a lot because they had David snow they had a number of guys at that time and I I I think the Gilmer staff still to this day thinks he would have been unbelievable at wide receiver but he wanted to play Corner that's that is rare right that's rare that the guy wants to play corner and not wide receiver he must have liked hitting and not getting hit right that we'll have to ask CB about that sometime see if he uh thinks that's the that's why he chose a corner uh look uh lot of uh NFL news uh over the weekend too or not over the weekend yesterday uh 53 man roster Blake uh and Jerry coming out uh not that it was a huge um not that it was a huge surprise uh but both Jaylen Ford and Jordan Whittington made their respective teams a 53 man cut of course Xavier worthy Byron Murphy I Mitchell tandre sweat all those guys did JT Sanders did as well but two of the lower picks Ford and Whittington both made their 53 man squads a couple of guys were put on uh put on injured reserve or a version of injured reserve uh that was uh Christian Jones who's been out with a foot or ankle injury uh then also uh Jonathan Brooks obviously not expected back until until the fourth or fifth game of the season and then Ken Robinson out as well probably the most unfortunate news that came out yesterday of anything is Ryan Watts who joined us on this show just a week ago was doing really really well in the Steelers Camp he suffered an injury in the last uh preseason game that they chalked up Jerry and Blake to a stinger right yeah I know he had that sting remember the Stinger he had against what was it Texas Tech first play of the game or one of those or Wyoming I can't remember what it was but he had a stinger they came back and the problem the issue with Ryan is now they're saying it's a season ending injury I hope I hope it's not serious right I hope it's not the dreaded SS yeah spinal St that's that's what I'm worried about with him anytime you you hear sting or o you're out for the year so let's hope it's not that hey I'm getting asked about people are mentioning in the chat here about my gear yes yes this is a I'm in Houston today and so I got a dress like I'm ready to go a little hunting little duck hunting here this is a new gear from Duck camp this may be it's like a burnt orange color but I don't know if you can see this the Hat the this hat that has the dog on it I'm a big dog lover so I love this uh stuff that duck Camp got us I I'm but I'm going to correct the record in honor of the honor stallions Netflix Bobby Burton is currently in Fort Collins Colorado my favorite comment has been that you're going ram hunting oh boy hey I'd have to go to Big Ben to do that the um I will say this I I I listened I did not watch the net Netflix document I listened it was had a long drive yesterday um and Jerry did you did you get a chance to watch it all the way through or not I haven't watched any of it yet I'm G I'm probably going to do that I don't know Thursday night it may not happen till I'm on the road next week seeing recruits honestly when I have some a little more time I I've gotta say this uh did you know that Connor stallions was given a game ball by Jim Harbaugh he was awarded a game ball in 2022 okay how many how many special assistants get a game ball and like and I don't know that I've ever heard of that actually unless frankly unless the Special Assistant was like sick or in the hospital previously and came back no special assistants get a game ball dude that espec especially one that the head coach knows no idea about what's going on behind I think he probably meant to give it to somebody else and stallions jumped in and took it out of his hands yeah that's probably what Harbaugh say I was trying to hand it to uh Chiron Moore but uh Conor jumped in and took it out of my hands this stapper guy that what I was later told was a guy named Connor if you watch that he absolutely or listen to it he absolutely comes off as a unbelievable um Savant as it relates to what he was doing like I I am very into on Texas football and I you know live it drink it eat it sleep it all of that stuff he is all in the Michigan football and sign stealing like he sounded like I mean he slept in his car uh multiple times and rented out an air rented his own house out as an Airbnb so just just uh almost Preposterous man I what it would be like for me what it would be like for me is is if I decided I was going to try to help the Texas Longhorns recruit football players and I started going making inhome visits and things such as that it's the Texas staff's job to recruit football players whoever that staff is over the years and every colleges staff that's their job to help recruit football players something I will never do in my life but that's what it would be like essentially Bobby y from my side hey alio I want to read this to you Bobby just to make sure you see it he says welcome back to Houston Bobby I'll never forget the first time you came to Yates and interviewed me 25 years ago that was a cool comment I won't either I won't either you know Alfia you're good you're a good man uh happy to see you doing well and everything you're doing too it's uh it's part of the tradition I love it I love hearing from guys that I used to cover in high school and uh talk to on the phone about recruiting all that stuff and now to see them with their own families Jerry I mean you do it too Jerry you've been doing it long enough I mean now I mean look there are guys that have kids who have kids almost uh that are coming up uh so it's uh it's fun to to see that and see people U move forward Like You Do by the way um alfio is now Houston sports Sciences Academy of sports Sciences um lot of really good football players over there so Al feel have to keep us updated on uh all the talent over there isn't it a big 2026 player there there's there's a few kesan Henderson Mike Brown um obviously Michael Bishop's the head football coach there good stuff all right Bobby before we move on speaking of good stuff low lawfirm.com guys I got to tell you I was driving yesterday and I got stuck in traffic I was literally four or five four or five cars back from a uh uh total 18wheeler hitting a truck that was also have that had a small trailer on back and the the trailer was wack wiggling like back and forth you know what I mean because it wouldit something and it it the tail end of it hit the side of that truck and man that thing just spun up everybody was okay thankfully or at least in one piece but it I sat in uh I sat behind uh uh in a wreck waiting for this the thing to clear for about an hour yesterday it was uh that's I I immediately thought of Adam Loy is what I'm getting at when I saw that I was like this is exactly what Adam Loy is for so anyways thanks Adam For Your sponsorship of coffee and football all right guys well as uh I as we talked about opening the show three days away so my question to you is what are your general thoughts we are 72 hour a little over 72 hours bring up our weather report because that factors into it for me Jim can't wor here okay look that's right if I show up in the Weather Channel batting helmet Setter that's bad news for everybody on BVO Boulevard um in a Weather Channel jacket but six it's up to 60% but when is that is the kind of the key um for the rain but look I think the one thing about that that rain coming through is going to have a big effect on the Notre Dame A&M game from what I'm hearing because the rain supposed to be later in the evening uh so that that'll be interesting but my thoughts on the game are look nothing's really changed for me I think Colorado State's offensive tackles Texas is going to come at them in numbers of edge players it'll be NFL players future NFL draft picks a couple of high draft pick potentially and those offensive tackles have a really big job for Colorado State can Colorado State then Mount any sort of Run game and the numbers down the 31 and a half I'm like this better and better because I had to cover it 33 and a half this is great um I mean now now all we need is the Bert Auburn field goal to put push it over the top when it's like uh I I don't know what 49 to 19 in the late field goal to make it 52 um look I offensive tackles for Colorado State have a big job Saturday I think col can Colorado State have any semblance of a running game Saturday what are they going to be able to create on the ground is going to be big because they have wide receiver Talent the quarterback's a sophomore but he's going to need help in that game he needs to be able to hand the ball off to somebody and move the chains a little bit and get some positive down and distance numbers for Colorado State then on the flip side what's Colorado State's interior D line and front seven in general going to look like uh against Texas but really their defensive front they lost three key guys last year that's harder to replace at a Colorado State that's more you're more in development mode mod than you are just just replacement mode because their safeties are really good players up the millitary defense they're good on the back end really good how are they going to be on the front end of that because I think that'll be interesting to see um because if Texas can run if Texas runs the ball effectively early that puts Colorado State in a really bad spot defensively I'll say that I'm I'm of the opinion that uh Texas needs to come out and and I'm I'm with sarc on this um one of the biggest things I'm waiting to see guys is how sharp are the long horns early um they were not sharp against rice uh early last year uh at the same time you know what uh that the the start of last season ended up okay right uh Bobby patronic I love this one 4513 on Saturday Le let's hear y'all's predictions that's a good thing to do uh let's see uh we'll bring up a couple of those as well we've talked about it at nauseum I agree with Jerry um if they can as long as Texas can disrupt the Colorado State passing game which I think they should be able to Texas is should should win handily on Saturday um that's really the bottom line for me but there are subplots obviously how does Quinn ERS look what do the receivers look like at Texas um what's what about the rush defense that sort of stuff uh but give us some of y'all's thoughts as well today I I like I like Nate Russ's prediction but that's good that's sad at the same time hey Odin horns has one that's interesting Kar punter shank with what ball and foot I'll say this Odin horns Michael Kars from St Thomas kinus in Fort Lauderdale it rains every day there's a 20 minute shower every day so mean he may have kicked with a uh he may have kicked in the rain more than anybody Texas has had it on her I've lived down there man it rains every day at some point in the afternoon all we got it's Superstar time isn't it it is that's what I was about to say our special guest is with us and he is ready to join to be a Lorn guys how you doing coach outstanding really good what's it like with the kids back on campus I I know that uh uh it changes a little bit with the players these days they tend to stay all summer long or at least a lot of them do uh but once campus gets rolling again uh the energy picks up even more because you see guys walk or ladies and guys walking to campus or walking to class all that sort of stuff what's the energy like uh in uh Austin these days well you're exactly right it's for me personally it's one of the reasons I love coaching the heartbeat the energy of a of a Campus Community you know I was on campus Monday with our student athletes taking pictures with them first day of class and 52,000 students you know just young vibrant people I mean it just it's what keeps me young you know I think um uh it's your Beast walking around 52,0 65 year old people I can tell you so you know it just it's a really special time and then obviously my kids are here again they've been gone they had a little two weeks uh off and now they're back and we were on the track this morning at 6:00 a.m. uh we were supposed to be on the track yesterday morning at 6:00 a.m. but we had some thunder and lightning I don't know why you can't be out there in that but we couldn't so we uh we were in the gym yesterday morning uh but our conditioning started this week and and then we have skill development in the afternoon weights in the afternoon so we're in it to win it man uh it's it's uh it's that time of year it's exciting I love my team uh got to get some kids healthy but uh we should and uh it's always good to see Rory Harmon back doing things with with everybody and uh she ran a six uh I think she ran a 617 uh mile this morning or sh Shay Holly ran a five a 532 along with my freshman Jordan Lee they finished in a in a u photo finish uh Shay's not had any competition in five years this is her fifth Mile and uh um Jordan Lee you're going to love her and she came in and did a great job they both came in at 5:32 so uh it was a good morning on the track and um we'll we'll be back in the gym this afternoon hey coach um we had Shay Holly on yesterday so I kind of I said she kind of reminds me uh of what royal Ivy brought the Rick Barnes early on at Texas when he was building Texas obviously TJ Ford came in there and changed the whole dynamic of it but talk about Shay Holly and then Zane Petty has a question he said tell us a great Shay Hol story well all you know all we do is win with Shay Holly I think we've won 108 games if um if things go right this year she's going to become the all-time winningest uh women's basketball player in the history of the school um if things go right she's going to become the alltime uh participant in games in the history of the school she's she's going to be in in in division one but in the aiaw Years apparently they played 40 games around here a year and so uh if if things go go right she'll break even that record of aund I think it there's a kid that played in 162 games and uh that's a lot y'all for you know that's that's way a lot and so anyway she's going to have a chance to do that but she just you know I call her the glue um she just she she's she's been that since she's been here I think the biggest thing you can say also about her she's just consistent like you know she's so consistent but she's accepted every role I've Ever Needed her to play great teams have have got to have players like her she's unselfish um she's such such a servant leader which makes her a great leader um she leads by example uh good gosh y'all I don't know about y'all but she graduated from mcoms in three years I don't know that she ever even made a be um now she going to get her Masters you know in two years over there um and uh I I sent a picture to her mom and dad you know Eric obviously was a great football player here Mom was an athlete and she's this highly educ ated kid you know kind of like Blair Blair on my staff you know she was a biological science major 367 and she's a coach and uh so I sent them a note yesterday with the picture from the first day I said hey first day of class excited for her fifth year she's gonna be a great coach both of them both of them text me back with ha haa hey you've been you talking about being a coach this is your 40th correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is your 40th year in coaching yeah 20th year uh as a head coach you're one of only three coaches uh in division one basketball uh that your LED your team to Elite eight appearances uh six times in the last seven seasons but I'm telling you now at Texas this is probably the toughest home schedule the Longhorns we Blake put up a note earlier about how to get the season tickets this is a tough home schedule you guys have this year that's it's going to be you don't I bet you hadn't even seen my non-conference uh our our our schedule is a monster I mean you you look at our conference schedule obviously it's got you know a lot of nightmares um we're we're at depal uh we're at Notre Dame we're at uh we're in New Jersey on Martin Luther King day to play Maryland um who's always top 10 top 15 we got to go to James Madison and we're going to a tournament in Florida with the potential of playing West Virginia who will be a top 20 team and I'm sure there's somebody else I forgot we still need a game y'all like I can't get anybody to play me like I've offered to go I've offered to go anywhere in America and I can't get any body we we just we still need a game and it's it's so frustrating um you know and uh but it it is it is what it is so we we just uh it is a very demanding schedule though you're absolutely right and uh but I think this team is is poised for it they're ready for it I think they'd rather play these types of games then then these three name directional schools I just wish I could get a name here at home that's been my biggest challenge and I I just I can't so this time next year when we play the ACC SEC challenge hopefully Notre Dame or uh somebody like that'll have to come back here and and and that'll give me at least one non-conference oh the other one we do get South Dakota State at home which to you and and and probably maybe a lot of our fans are like okay what's the big deal about well they're always top 25 they're always top 20 they're always in the NCA tournament so we have them at home right before Christmas not ideal on timing but again it was the only time I could get them and at least they would come here I'll have to return to them next year but at least they would come here so that's another NCA tournament team nonconference that we're going to get so it's it's it's all that in a bag of beans for sure hey coach um five new five newcomers to the roster this year uh three High School uh Pro players that were obviously top 50 recruits in the country uh BigTime transfer from Michigan all big 10 player and a transfer uh uh post player from Miami can I tell the Texas fans about those five newcomers what you've seen obviously Jordan Lee can shoot it right Brian bana is fast fast fast and Justice Carlton is a tremendous player in the high post what have you seen from your newcomers so far all that um you know GE Lee was so compet at competitive in high school ranked I think she was the sixth or seventh best player in the country uh justice Carlton was I think the sixth ranked player in the country when she got hurt uh this time April a year ago so she didn't have a summer and didn't get to play half of her high school year so I think she fell in the rankings from like six to 12 but those two kids were both top 10 kids I'm gonna tell you B Brianna Preston might be the most Mis uh misevaluated kid I've ever seen she is quicker then you know what and fast um she is Rory Harmon uh all of Rory Harmon and we all know how quick and fast and explosive Rory is and she is going to be great she's going to be a monster y'all she is a a she makes all the right reads and transition she delivers the ball when it needs to be delivered where it needs to be delivered um great kid tremendous all three of these kids are really good kids great attitudes but I think the biggest thing y'all they're just competitive like y'all you know if you've been around me enough you know it's hard to play for me if you don't have a competitive spirit and these kids have a competitive Spirit um I love the this freshman group and they're going to play and you and I both both know if they don't they'll go somewhere else right and so they're going to play and our job's to get them ready uh but they're going to play and they're going to be really good um Leila the Lea filia young lady from Michigan has had a little set back this summer U and had to have a little little correction with her eye and so she's been out about two months but she's back conditioning with us now she's going to be special First Team all big 10 average 16 a night goes to the boards rebounds it hard um again another competitive kid and then uh you're gonna like Kyla because she will flat move your butt when she goes down there to post up she uh she is a big physical kid um she said something this morning to one of my trainers or coaches she's like I've never worked this hard in my life and we hadn't even had one day of practice but you know we've been here this summer now we're out of conditioning and um you know she's she's someone that's got a big Pro body but y'all she can run like she can run the floor and and she's a big physical kid and U man I love her so one of the only kids in the history you talk about my career I don't know that I've ever had a kid that said hey coach when I come on a visit will you work me out now that's when you're transferring that may not be something you always here from a kid that's transferring and that that came from her and and man I worked her out and when we were done I was like heck yeah and and not not anything from more than just how she can move you know and she's got a great frame that can move so I'm excited about her but I'm excited about this team you know our returners Madison Booker uh is is like most kids changing her her frame her body's changing developing it's um and so she's she's looked really good and of course it's just great to have Rory back she's not fully released but she's cleared to do everything but contact right now and she she looks really really good she's got that big old smile on her face because she's able to to get out there with her team right now and get back into doing things so it's it's an exciting time coach before we let you go we got to we got to ask you what you've been doing this summer but we got a glimpse of it here look at this here with Texas Women's Basketball it's time to step out and get your season tickets let's go let's go come on [Laughter] go oh man where were you coach yeah that's a pretty good commercial where where were you at coach where were you at we were in Maui oh tough life coach that's a tough coach's life right there Hey where's the one of me wake surfing I made the same commercial behind the boat not holding on to the Rope just back there weight surfing and uh I made that one too so it's h you know we're always trying to find a way I've been fishing some too y'all you know I like to chase the trout and the red fish and I was uh gone last week for about four days and uh had a really good week caught a lot of good fish um and uh and so I'm I'm I've enjoyed my my time but I'm I'm excited about getting back and getting with these kids but it's you know taking the family to Maui you know my my twins will be 29 on uh Friday and um and and and yet you know as a parent you guys are all too young but as a parent when you've got kids that still want to spend time with you as a family and whether it's at dinner or vacation or whatever man that's special and uh we have some really cool family special times whether it's you know coming to the house for dinner or going on a little vacay together Holly and I really enjoy that time with our kids and of course they're not kid they're they're young young men young women now and um and doing really well so it's really really cool we got to talk about football real quick for you what you got coach what you got us give some a big big college football fan of course I'm a big SAR fan and and he and I visit and um I'm excited about his team I I hate it that he's had a couple of injuries it reminds me of you know last year when we lost uh uh Rory you know TW 12 games in um but you know it's he's I know he's excited his team will respond and and his coaches and uh um you know you it's what we do as coaches right we're always kind of having to to respond to something and when you got 85 of them like he does you you're always responding to something whether it's injury or something else and so I'm excited for this group he's got a veteran group he's got those big humans man I love it I I go over there and watch practice now I watch uh I watch uh offensive coordinator the offensive line coach y Kyle man I love Kyle and uh uh I just um I love watching those guys work and uh those big humans man that's you know you and I both know you can have all them skill P it's very similar to basketball you can have all the size you want but you win with guard play if you don't have guard play you can't win in basketball it's that simple in football from what I know you got to have those big humans you can have all that speed and the guy that can throw it if you ain't got anybody that can block it it's going to be hard to win and and that's where it's you know it's the physical part you know I I love my team to be tough physical and aggressive that don't say anything about your skill set don't say how you shoot it don't say how good your point go is how great of a passor she is the same thing's true over there across the street that don't say anything about how your quarterback throws it or how fast your running back is or what kind of route your receiver can run but if you're tough physical and aggressive coach likes that he wants his team to be described that way and I know that they like that physical play and and in s knows just like I do going back into the SEC that's a physical League coach that's what I was GNA ask you that's what I was going to ask you you've lived that League you coached obviously Mississippi State but you watched a lot of football games in the secc from your Vantage Point as a coach what does Texas have in front of him and the fan base they got a lot of fun trips coming up coach hey they do and and I love their schedule and uh was looking at it matter of fact this morning you know I can remember y'all back you know I was there when Dak was there I can remember sitting in the stands and LSU would roll in there y'all and their their lineman good gosh you you weren't running out with one you had to go run out behind one because they took up the whole tunnel you know one at a time and there those old linemen would come out and you'd go holy cow I mean they were just so big and um you I'd watch those Alabama teams I'm always paying attention I'm a real detailed guy and the thing that always separat ated to me the thing that always separated the the Alabam from everybody else's the alignment of those guys and what their stance was like I'm an attention to detail guy and those guys you know you can look you you watch yall watch it all the time you can tell they might be in the right position but what's their stance like always when I watch those Alabama guys those linebackers were always two hands on their hips down head on a swivel their secondary guys two hands you know on their hip down head on a swill I mean they were always in an athletic position the same one every time well they're coached that way y'all they're coached to do those little things and so when you go in that League that's the one thing you're going to see day in and day out you're going to see big humans and you're going to see great skill plate and oh I think we lost him oh no we Le he he was just getting [Applause] started man I keep on standby in case he comes back while add him back in yeah absolutely yeah that was uh tremendous though I love me some Vic Vic schaer guys uh he was just getting started with that that uh big human he was getting me fired up he was there he is he's back goach back back you're back second half second half let's go you're good can you hear us coach can you hear me yes sir okay I can't hear y'all but anyway in that League you're gonna get those big guys and you're going to get skill play and I just think you know gosh I I even hate to call it Triple A a baseball you know because it's really there's a lot of teams in that League that probably finish 500 in the NFL and so it's a it's a monster league but it's going to be a fun league and they're going to love they're going to love traveling and and and getting around to to seeing those part I know our fans are going to love um going to different those comes to to Austin yeah that's huge Tennessee just a good schedule for them you know yeah it is a good SK oh yeah and LSU LSU in in Austin is a that'll be fun yep Kim let's let's have it yeah that's going to be a fun one all right all right all right we got some other stuff going on today uh we mentioned earlier at the outset of this guys that uh few guys made the NFL opening day rosters uh probably the biggest news Jaylen Ford made the saints that was an iffy one one of the later round draft picks also making the league Jordan Whittington uh a late round pick uh Adonai Mitchell Xavier worthy Byron Murphy tandre Jers all made him and then the other the other three Jonathan Brooks Christian Jones kelen Robinson all on injured list of some sort or another Ryan Watts unfortunately suffered a season ending injury as well he'll go on a reserved list as well so yeah all 11 guys that got drafted last year well they couple on IR as you mentioned but all 11 guys made on a on a roster on a team so no nobody got cut I had a few cuts from some of the guys that played at Texas yesterday Colin Johnson Deontay Foreman Lil Jordan Humphrey I believe one more um I think there were four that I counted but a lot of guys uh Andrew Beck Andrew Beck from the Texans yeah but Andrew Beck's had a really solid NFL career I I bet he gets picked up somewhere speaking of speaking of speaking of them want to young people want to be part of Athletics uh whether it's the football team basketball team whatever uh I got a note uh yesterday from a friend that uh the volleyball team is effectively looking for a student manager they have an opening L this late in the season or this late in the year so if you're a young guy out there or girl listening to the show and want to be a part of Texas that's uh been there and done that uh so if you're a young person I would actually encourage you to go out and participate in that I wanted to get that in there sorry guys no I would do hey look if record predictions yes I I'm starting at 10 and two just like last year yeah but you haven't lo you have't losing to A&M I backed myself into a corner I went unbelievable I couldn't when I heard that come out of your mouth I just about h i I had 10 and two as well Jay Le 10 and two I I had the two losses being the ones that are probably most expected and that's Michigan and uh Georgia uh but you know I was wrong last year about Alabama uh so I will gladly be wrong about Michigan all day long if that H if that comes to pass Jerry said this really well last year it that was when your season that you thought would be uh 10- two you redid your prediction and said 11 11 and one after you beat Alabama right and I think that I could see myself doing something similar if Texas goes up to Ann Arbor and beats up on the the Wolverines correct that's where I'm at all John we got some super chats that we need to jump over to real quick and uh I'm going to start with this one from Hook to a te he says can and thank you hook for hooked to it t can you talk about the ncaa's decision on transfer portal ruling I believe it supports what a commitment really means well I mean the NCA has not I don't think it's enacted quite yet but they proposed that there's going to be only one transfer portal period uh now uh that will be after the December Signing Day or it would be after the December Signing Day leading into January um and so you would be able to transfer in that portal window um and then still be eligible for the next football season as well as spring practice at your new school the the key here is it would eliminate the post spring practice transfer portal it would eliminate it and so uh you have just one period where you're really worried about your team actually uh being decimated by a transfer portal uh the negative is you only get one opportunity to improve your team and that's before the end of spring practice like what if you have a key injury late in Spring spring practice there's no transfer portal to go to to get an extra guy right and so there's some while I agree with you that it it uh ties players to schools more which I think is a overall healthy thing for the sport of college football and not only for the sport but also for the fandom of it uh I don't like to see players transferring you know every which way every year um it it also can hurt uh what it looks like what your team looks like and and leave things to chance a little bit more that now I will say this one thing that's a caveat to all of that it does not affect it does not affect grad transfers grad transfers will still be able to transfer at any point in time so it don't you're only talking about a freshman that maybe wants to change schools after spring practice that it would eliminate them being able to do so so uh it's good stuff I I you know look they're trying the NCA is actually trying and I think they're listening to the bigger schools now is the big piece for me I mean before they would make these rules that sa satisfied you know Union College or William and Mary or whatever they weren't making the rules for Tech or OU or A&M or LSU they were making them for you know no offense but they were they were making them for soul Ross State just as much as they were the University of Texas and thankfully that phase of the NCA I think is now um is phased out okay before we get to some more Super chats first Jerry I want to talk about recruiting for just a second as obviously we have a uh we're two days coming two days kickoff in three big decision in two tell us about that big decision yeah Jamie French uh five star four star plus plus five star receiver whatever you want to call them depending on rankings uh from Jacksonville Mandarin will announce his decision Friday morning at 8:30 I know he's got terrible body control look at that but uh look he announces his decision Friday 825 eastern time we're going to be on coffee and football is going to start about 7:10 so get your pot going early get your pot of coffee going early is what I meant to say there's Jamie French looking a little bit like ad Mitchell out there to me haven't seen him in person last spring uh but Jamie French still I'm still confident in Texas right now uh my that that's good uh hand ey by the way uh he's got a little more acceleration you think I'm still confident in Texas over Miami Tennessee and LSU hats on the table there if you notice one thing about Jam French half those games are on grass half those games are on sport Turf this guy faster than people think he is if you watch a lot and I can tell you from doing this nationally living in Florida and going to all these schools doing high school games on TV down there these kids on grass fields don't look as fast as these kids that play Grassfield right here don't look as fast consistently is these guys that play on sport turf fields Jamie French is faster than people think he is look at all the standing water on that field okay these guys don't play rain another rain game down there in Florida but uh these guys don't play on the best grass fields so they they're faster than you think and Jamie French is one of those guys for me uh people ask um about Myan Charles we're go kind of going down the list my and Charles I think Texas needs to get him back on campus um look I know everybody's tying one loss to a guy flipping but you don't want emotional flips you you want the guy to come back on campus with his family if a flip happens it's a it really is a true stick type of flip and not emotional flips I don't think sark's after emotional flips uh so I I think Texas I talked to Myron Charles a couple days ago he's talking about coming for the Georgia game um I really think the visits during the season are going to play a big part here uh on Texas football CJ broke the news that Joseph inbaku the defensive lineman out of Grayson teammate of Nick Brooks is going to be in town for an unofficial visit Joseph told me last night for the UTSA game Florida commitment Georgia just offered him Auburn's very much in the pi 65 285 280 really high upside guy first year playing football cayb Bell out of Milton High defensive lineman committed Arkansas's dad kendrell was a stud at Georgia and a pro bowler in the NFL linebacker he says he's going to visit Texas during the season um so they're they're Braxton Kyle the defensive lineman at North goette now Georgia just offered him he's a ruers commitment he's an over the- ball player I think Texas is working to get him on campus so there's going to be a lot of guys I think that the visits are the key for me though with all these guys that are committed elsewhere even if they've been on campus before because the reality is Josiah sh if he doesn't visit Late July he doesn't flip that that flip cut I think you'll see something similar with some guys Texas is on but they got to get they got to get them back on campus for that to become a reality uh for me um so we'll we'll see when that happens but again I I'm looking at two games are really targeted now schedules High School schedules how that all that works out but Mississippi State uh F last weekend in September first SEC game that's the late after like that's the afternoon window kids could come in from out of state you can catch a flight on an early Saturday morning and get the Austin in time for the game like a Florida's an 11: a Ki kick later in the year that's tougher if somebody's getting got to get on a plane on Saturday morning that's tougher for the Texas uh staff recruiting staff people that help everything that goes into that that's tougher Mississippi State Georgia because those start times are going to be the big uh visit weekends doesn't mean a a singular guy can't come in if maybe he has an off he plays on a Thursday and and he's off on Friday and can get flying on a Friday but those are the visit weekends that I think you're going to be big in terms of 2025 guys from out of state but Texas is continuously working on a lot of those guys um look there's a uh I hate to be a tease but um uh there's another dment out there that's a stud that we'll see all and he ain't do you really hate being a tease I do no you don't somebody somebody asked um about Michael Terry nothing for us said on Texas football the back off we think Texas is trending very well for Michael Terry as well mad fro price slight Lan and Notre Dame the key is getting him back on campus visiting Notre Dame uh visiting Texas visiting USC who's not going to give up on him um and you know we'll see if he gets back on campus during the season I've heard USC is throwing everything at him by the way uh from they have a new defensive staff that was at UCLA previously uh UCLA did have some street cred when it came to defense last year De Lynn was the uh defense coordinator he moved over to USC this year so they're they're not going quietly in the foro sweep sweep Stakes either uh by the way so uh to your point Jerry uh we will be on at 7:25 maybe a little earlier earlier um for uh on Friday uh for Jamie French's announcement party on tomorrow night um so somebody asked who do they play tomorrow who do they play who North Dakota State or South Dakota State one of the two they they they had a tough physical better uh for a team that brought in a thousand new transfers they're gonna have to execute well in that game um I think they'll score enough I think Travis Hunter and shur put up enough touchdowns but it it'll be interesting somebody asked about um got in late about Jamie French still think Texas is been trending there great relationship with Jamie and his parents again North Dakota State there it is somebody uh on the USC look one game doesn't make for recruiting at all USC needs to show well against LSU in Las Vegas though defensively if they get if they get kind of manhandled a little bit in that game been around uh the university enough it's been across the street on MLK and into the government uh parking Lots on that side what Christ Del con has done um is really activate uh the east side of the stadium up on the LBJ lawn as well as the street in front of uh DKR on S Joo I think it is and that's they rename it during game days bivo Boulevard um it is much more Carnival like much more F fan friendly uh all of those things in my opinion and so I am very very impressed with what they are uh what what Chris Delante has done and how how game day is morphed at Texas over the last 30 years I mean look Texas fans have always tailgated hard it was just always in the government Lots now some of the government Lots still have really good tailgates don't me wrong especially over at Schultz's but it's it's migrated some to be uh more multiple you can any any direction you choose right now is a good one to go tailgate in my opinion I want to bring this up because I love it when we get some when an assistant not even an assistant coach like it wasn't the DB coach it wasn't the special teams coach that got the game ball it was a assistant to an assistant that got a game ball I mean didn't happen well unless that guy's like seriously sick and came back and it's the old Rudy thing but he wasn't Rudy he was healthy and he was just cheating that's that's what he was hey hey Jimmy ask this is I'm sure this is what this I'm sure this is what harau will say if he has to no that's not what it was I mean that's well if you believe what stallion said that's not why he got it right you know Harbaugh said here it is now don't get a big head you're not gonna get a big head from being a no veteran no that's not what you gonna be of all things so if if they say it that way that wouldn't have been Harbaugh's comment to him afterwards don't get a big head oh I'm not going to get a big head because I'm A N I went to the Marines or navy man it's they were cheating they were cheating and Harbaugh knew it to what extent he knew I don't know um but that it just doesn't happen that way um speaking of Michigan we have I gotta I gotta answer this one right no I did not get a game ball but here's like people ask me what my prediction is my prediction is 10 and two okay what do I think the actual floor and ceiling is are are two different things I mean I think Texas at its floor is an eight- win team like things could go really wrong Texas should still win eight games in the regular season so maybe nine with a bowl game right um and things could go real wrong and I still think they should win eight right I think I think they're an 11 at at their highest they're an 11- win team I know some people are gon say oh no 12 and0 but I really think they're an 11 and one team at their very best because they still don't have they don't have that that power running game we don't think we don't think they have a a superstar in the middle of the defense yet from a defensive line perspective unless Alfred Collins comes on um I so I think that the the margin for era is8 and4 to 11 and one I went with 10- two but I I certainly can see to uh to your point there I could absolutely see nine and three and not be bothered by it it'd be unfortunate I think because that would be tough to get into the college football playoff but certainly possible okay Bobby one last time can you that's actually a good question there's some similarities between those two physically yeah body control like I was noticing on that Jamie French highlight tipe and I've seen it before uh did not catch anything with his body not at all at all everything with his hands hard hard throws over the Middle With His Hands outside balls outside the numbers with his hands um KH lockett's a lot the same way uh so and I think they're both here's the issue right like Kik Lockett gets dinged a little bit for not being you know Elite speed-wise well you know what he's fast enough when you watch him on tape and I think that that uh those sorts of things can be improved slightly he's never going to be this quote unquote Bur burner but you know what was Larry Fitzgerald was he a burner no I mean it just at some point it's about how smart you are as a football player and what you make of your opportunities uh so I'm I like both the I like both of those receivers a lot because Jerry to Jerry's point he made a a kind of snarky remark about oh look at that body control he has no that a lot of football is just about athleticism yeah you know and those two guys got it well biggest thing I that say I'll say about those guys is when you move to the SEC and you play in taller longer limb Corners you got you got you need a couple of guys that turn 5050 balls in the 75 25 balls that is a difference in the SEC versus the big 12 and I I think you know if Jamie French commits to Texas Friday Texas will have two of those guys in the same class that's a really good place to be in the SEC obviously so they want to add a slot third uh Speed Demon darting quick guy with a third High School receiver in that scenario that Jamie French joins Lockett in the Texas class Friday and then Jaye with a follow-up Super Chat he says my nine and three sounds pessimistic but it's not I think Georgia plays the hardest schedule they have in years they two losses I think there will be multiple 10-2 or nine and three teams yeah look I mean there could be four or five teams in the SEC at 10 and two and that's not out of the question I mean Missouri's got a great schedule um obviously Old Miss Georgia we've mentioned many times goes to to Alabama to Texas to Old Miss they go play the three best OC play callers in the SEC on the road um so there's there's a Alabama with kayin debor anybody doubting kayin deor I don't know what to tell you just look at his career I mean I mean just look at what he's done I mean the guys the wins at a very high level anywhere he goes um so I he won n won nine games his only full year at Fresno State then goes to Wasing goes 11 and then to the national championship game he's going to do well at Alabama um so you look at that and I I think there could be a little beating each other up at the top um and I could see I could see four teams going 10 and two now Georgia even though they play those three Road games with the talent level Georgia has if they stay healthy at quarterback and up front um in about two key spots defensively Jaylen Walker who's not talked about enough that maybe the best pass rusher in the country if they put him on the outside Malachi starts at safety they're I mean 11 and one is with that team I mean look if if if Georgia goes 10 and two Georgia fans may lose their mind then our last one for today fellas this one from UT boy says Bobby and thank you T Boy Bobby Ray when are you going to shed the apprehension uh around November 30th after the Longhorns beat the Aggies in Agy land that's when UT boy I'm I look I I I I have a well- earned reputation as being the guy that uh is waiting to see everything happen before I actually believed it happens I don't count my chickens that's a that's one of the things I learned a long time ago uh so uh you know my apprehension is very real when it comes to football because look as much as we talk about this the game's got to be played man um and you never know who's hired the next Conor stallions either you know what what's out there for whoever or whomever yeah I mean and the thing is the one thing we can't nobody can control is injuries and how that the effect that has on your season so um that is the that's the thing I mean Texas got hit a couple times early here uh they need some good they need some good injury luck the rest of the season outside a
