welcome in this special Sunday edition of on Texas football little recruiting update I want to look at where the class is going after the commitments of Nick Brooks and Jonah Williams uh a big couple of days for the Texas Longhorn Steve sarkeesian staff they vaulted into the top 10 of the class rankings in 2025 depending on what's whoever whichever service you look at in our recruiting Industry Texas has now entered the top 10 either number seven number eight in the class rankings and has poised to keep moving up here in the coming weeks of course uh what got Texas into that top 10 let's take a little look back at that on Friday Nick Brooks come great at Grayson big offensive tackle 67 365 Grayson coming off a big win against Thompson High and Alabama on ESPN Thursday night got it back home about three in the morning that long bus ride in the Lawrenceville Georgia then about 4 pm on Friday Nick Brooks committed to Texas Longhorns Over Georgia and USC originally from Cedar ra Iowa now playing his high school football in the senior year in the Atlanta area Grayson High big win for Texas a national recruiting win on the offensive line Over Georgia and over USC the one-time Iowa commitments headed the Austin to play for Kyle flood and the Longhorns and that was been that's one where he was he had been silently committed for a while and stuck with that ple pledge even after moving to the Atlanta area late in the summer and then yesterday was the big sonic boom down in Galveston five five star uh four star plus plus five star safety Jonah Williams out of galston ball high commits to the Texas because Jonah Williams is a top 10 top 15 ranked player in our industry vaulted Texas into the top 10 up to number seven I think it's a number seven class seven or eight depend on where you look but Jonah Williams a big National recruitment a big win over LSU who I think finished second then there was USC Oregon Texas A&M those are the five schools um that Jonah uh considered at the end but that's a huge win for Blake Gideon Steve sarkeesian in this staff one of the top rate players in the state of Texas one of the top safeties if not the top safety a top three safety in America a guy that will play football and baseball at the University of Texas so with that being said the last two days have been great for Texas recruiting Texas now in the top 10 of class rankings and are poised to go up um I wrote a story at on texasfootball.com this morning if you're not uh OTF OG go over there and sign up to be an OT fog 39.95 annual subscription now there's another big announcement coming up on the 30th and this is where I started that article trending Texas who's trending Texas u in our opinion at on Texas football one of those guys is Jamie French who will announce his commitment on August 30th that'll be about 8:25 8:30 uh Friday morning Eastern time so 7:30 central that's Texas and Miami top two Tennessee uh LSU also hats at the table but Jamie French the five-star receiver out of Jacksonville Mander and high this is a big one for the Longhorns this is this is the one that Texas was got him on campus in April and at that point Texas started trending then the official visit goes really well Chris Jackson Steve sarkeesian have done a great job in that recruitment with Jamie with his family that football academics combination I think hits home with the parents obviously Miami is making a big run they're making Texas earn this one Tennessee's put everything they can in this recruitment as well they've got them on campus multiple times as has LSU has a lot of family members but this has been trending Texas So Jamie French the next big Target off the board if that Trend continues and he were to pick the Longhorns we'll see what happens on Friday August 30th Texas would again Vault up five six ranked class I mean they're right there they're moving right up into that top five category then there's two other guys we're waiting on decisions that are not committed anywhere and that is Michael Terry who we believe is trending Texas here at Al Texas football trending Texas over Nebraska and over Oregon 63 218 uh athlete could play wide receiver wants a chance at wide receiver could end up being a tight end could line up in the back field kind of a jack of all trades on offense with a lot of skill set a lot of size and a lot of speed some schools like him on defense too Texas wants him to play offense and they'll kind of figure it out give him a first chance at wide out and figure it out after he gets there if he can be a wide out or not that's kind of up to Michael Terry in his development Michael Terry again top 30 level player in the country uh so if that would that one's looking like a September October decision you know so look those two guys that we believe Texas is trending for Jamie French and Michael Terry if Texas just won those two recruitments they have 18 commitments right now if that pushed them to 20 at early October Texas is sitting there with the top five ranked class probably number five ranked class in the country because some other guys around the country will commit decommit change commitment so Texas is on they're just right on track for a fourth straight top five class then you have Madden Faro Notre Dame we still believe leads for Madden Faro Texas USC really providing real competition uh for the fighting Iris Madden foro the linebacker out of San Juan cistron o j Sarah Catholic 63 230 235 really versatile guy can play off the ball linebacker can rush off the edge really long arms instinctive flows to the football very physical on contact uh Johnny nanson has done a really good job there the official visit went tremendous in June he's expected to come back to campus this season we'll have to see does all this transpired as he go back to Notre Dame and Texas and USC which you know who'll go to USC lives down the road for a game this season the longer this plays out the better I think this is uh for the Texas Longhorns but with that being said we still believe Notre Dame is the slight leader there for Madden fro they had a big lead for months in the recruitment of Faro then it gets down to look Texas has some specific needs so even if Texas beats wins out for Jamie French and Michael Terry and they're ranked as the number five sixth ranked class in the country the class ranking is right where you want it be to be but Texas still has needs to fill defensive line is a big one defensive line has one commitment right now Josiah Sharm who's Big Time guy you guys know I'm out there on a limb I think he reminds me of Shawn Rogers I'm not saying he's going to be a pro bowl player but as a prospect reminds me of Shawn Rogers with that frame natural playe strength quickness explosiv explosiveness ability to play along the line of scrimage that skill set with that frame very reminiscent of Shawn Rogers for me um but Texas needs to add at least two more pieces on the defensive line to that if not three the goal has been four defensive lineman in this class we're looking at a class of 24 25 guys uh when all is said and done right now uh but those defensive linemen it's going to have to be some flips Texas is going to work working on some guys myON Charles committed the FSU out of Port Charlotte he almost visited late in July he didn't make that trip can FSU keep him from getting back to Texas for a visit during the season that's something to watch Chase Sims out of Richmond Randall really talented program upand coming program in the southwest Houston uh part of Houston committed to Texas A&M like Texas a lot Growing Up Texas is in contact will they get him on campus for a game then you have some guys that recently offered out of the state of Georgia and we're also keeping an eye on some other guys I mean Texas remains in contact with a Brandon Brown committ lsue even if it's light contact Kevin W Greensboro Georgia committed FSU Texas doesn't back off their onea targets we know this uh from covering Steve sarkeesian's recruitment since the 2022 class now there's three new offers in the peach state state of Georgia absolutely loaded at defensive line in 2025 Georgia's D line class on the interior at least 22 power four level defensive lineman in that state that's a massive number in for one State uh so Georgia's loaded at D line Kenny Baker got his feet on the ground at Texas now didn't get to watch all these guys in person came from the NFL didn't have time to go out and see all these guys now they're taking a look going back taking a look at some of these guys in 2025 especially in the state of Georgia where Kenny Baker's from where the choice has strong recruiting ties and a state that's loaded at defensive line as I said Caleb Bell really catches M he's out of Milton played against Dia Bell Friday on the ESPN that loaded Milton High team who's just I mean has 10 power four guys that are 2025 prospects alone including quarterback Miami receiver FSU tight ends Georgia and Auburn offensive tackle Clemson I mean two corners going to I mean Caleb Bell going to Arkansas right now a loaded team but Caleb Bell 63275 was active in the game his father kendro Bell was an All-American all SEC level player at Georgia and All Pro in the NFL Caleb Bell told on Texas football he does plan to visit Texas during the season he was offered a couple of weeks ago I do think Texas will be a player once they get him on campus there again he's committed to Arkansas then there's Joseph inbaku at Grayson first year playing football he padded football he's in the dine rotation at Grayson a very young Prospect lot of upside 65 280 28 he's committed to Florida he also will visit Texas or and Auburn probably during the season so a guy that's an upside developmental guy moved to the States from Cameroon years ago played soccer basketball uh growing up but now is is given football a go and really impressed in the spring and this summer and again he's not going to put up big stats he's not going to be he may flash a lot for Grayson but first year of padded football he's a developmental guy down the line but really talented uh Texas also offered Braxton Kyle from North gnet 63 315 plays over the ball for North gnet another Power program in Atlanta area but George also recently offered so let's make that one a longer shot and look I'm here to tell you I don't think Texas has done offering guys in Georg on the defensive front I think there's three or four other prospects that are committed elsewhere they're the very good players couple of guys who haven't committed anywhere right now or decommitted so Texas is going to make a run at some of those guys I think in the State of Florida Texas is still looking and in that Southeast region on the defensive line so I expect a couple three more offers to go out on the defensive line in this 25 class then you also have guys instate I mean you'll you could you'll stay in contact with the DJ Sanders with a Zion Williams they'll be tough they'll be tough on those guys but Steve sarkeesian will continue Kenny Baker will continue uh to stay in contact with those guys but at the end of the day Texas has needs to fill a defensive line they need to get it to three or four in this class to not have to go as heavy portal after the 2024 season then defensive backat with Jonah Williams committed at safety Caleb Chester committed at Corner Texas has two really good players Caleb Chester will outplay any ranking he has at the next level football intelligence is off the charts we had him on the Jonah Williams commit live commitment show if you missed that yesterday right at the beginning of the show again the second time we've had Caleb Chester on his football intelligence is off the charts just off the charts they had an elite elite interception in their scrimage against Elkins late last week so what is Texas looking at they would love to get two safeties they'd love to get two corners so what does that mean for Texas that means they're going to be continuing stay in contact with guys like Devin Sanchez Dorian Brew uh some other Corners around the country that maybe are off the radar right now for Texas fans that Texas likes look Xavier philam did not have an offer this time last year was committed to Florida um and he ends up flipping going to Texas he attends the Texas OU game was offered on his way that game in October Texas hung in there in that recruitment obviously questions around Florida Xavier Phils me flips the Texas I could see a similar scenario where Texas flips a safetti or Corner in this class so we'll see if they get that number to four then wide receiver Texas has one right now khik Lockett one of the best body control turns 80 5050 balls into 8020 uh got great length big hands just a really smooth player at wide receiver that can absolutely go get the football against the long limb guys in the SEC at Corner Texas has a tremendous wide receiver committed in Kik Lockett they're looking for three in this class if Jam French goes to waya Texas on August 30th that means it's really a slot or a speed receiver somebody that can move all around obviously Dorian Moore is still out there Kel Sean Johnson committed to A&M who Texas tried to get when he committed the Texas A&M there's some guys out there for Texas is um that they're also going to keep tabs on at the wide receiver position but right now one that number is three um that Texas ideally want in that class so it's really easy to look at this right now 18 commitments if Jamie French and Terry go Texas way it gets you to 20 if you get two more D linemen and it's it may be hard to get the four if you get the three that takes you to 2020 22 commitments two more DBS 24 commitments then you kind of have that wild card spot if Texas goes for a 25man class that could be a third linebacker which is needed in this class as well could you see Texas go back in on a Manti Thao committed to USC from San clo I think is one of the best linebackers in the country I think you're going to see Texas uh take some looks at linebackers senior year as well with Madden Faro continuing to Trend a little bit to Notre Dame so that's your Sunday recruiting update we'll be back with Longhorn live stream uh tonight at 7 Texas Miami Tennessee LSU this is another big one for Texas by the way on the way out the door here Texas had success in Orlando they found some success at IMG they're recruiting that Southwest Corridor of Florida better than ever got a pun around of St Thomas aquinus Jacksonville area this is a big recruitment because this is one of the best players to come out of Jacksonville a loaded area in the last two or three years and if Texas won out for Jamie French that is another area in the State of Florida the Longhorns have had success and so big Friday coming up for Steve sarkeesian Chris Jackson and that recruitment Texas playing to recruit more heavily in Florida in the future and for that to continue they need to keep winning some of these recruitments uh in the Sunshine State So Jamie French big decision coming up here on Friday we feel like Texas has been trending over Miami uh and Tennessee and LSU and we'll see what happens we'll be here for all of it on August 30th thanks
