Lions Training Camp Takeaways On Jared Goff, Jameson Williams, Hendon Hooker + NOT Signing A DE?

Intro happy Wednesday folks in today's video we're going to be breaking down the Detroit Lions training camp observations who is training up who is trending down we're going to get into the latest injury front two significant injuries to players we're going to talk about those injuries what does it mean for the Lions roster is this a big deal do the Lions need to look elsewhere we'll talk about that we're going to get into the upand cominging preseason game all of that let's go Injuries the hype is real and I want to know if it's from you let me know in the comment section right now will the Lions make the Super Bowl why for yes and N for no let's go ahead and talk about injury front really quick here yesterday two significant injuries occur n Muti one of the Interior offensive lines for the Detroit Lines a backup roll had a shoulder injury it's significant they haven't been placed at IR as of yet but it looks like a long-term injury for his season it looks to be over the bigger name here John Kaminsky had an MCL injury to his knee he is going to be out for at least 6 months now per reports he could potentially come back for the playoffs seems unlikely John Kaminsky is going to be placed on injured reserve and he is a player whom we relied on in the past but I'm going to tell you why it's not a significant injury to the Lions roster first off sucks to him wish him the best in regards to the team it's not significant because he has been repping a lot with the third team and if you've been listening to me he has been a player who has been on the out kind of looking in he's on that back end of the 53 when he was healthy so even if he was healthy there's a potential chance him not even making the roster so it sucks for him and it you know it sucks for dep right now just for training camp but when it comes to a one out of 10 10 being a worst case scenario this about a two to me because the lack of him even potentially making the roster was something there to be to be heard so question for you Defensive End should the Lions add another defensive end with John Kaminsky going down for the year why for yes and for no let me know your thoughts and I'm going to give you my thoughts right here I think it's really important to understand that there's multiple ways that the Lions could take care of this situation you can keep who you got free agency or trade options or wait for 53 from other teams right now for the Lions they can go ah and add another Edge rusher a guy who's not a big name just simply for a camp body but if you're talking about finding someone in frency right now to really take you know the spot over I don't think that's necessary at this point because of John Kaminsky on the depth chart let's go ahead and look at who we have right now who can compete to make that spot right Mitchell good Joshua Pascal there's multiple players like Levi musque Marcus Davenport's dealing with some stuff so we have players already in place for a John Kaminsky now look if you're talking about this week in preseason and next week no one is really showing out at the other Edge position it's just Aiden Hutchinson and everybody else at that point I would say yeah go ahead and look at free agency to pick up a pass rusher a a guy who can help the team out we've talked about it on the video yesterday I've named multiple teams or multiple players on teams or not on teams that you can sign in free agency and then you can if you really wanted to you go to the trade market right and pick up a player that way or you just wait for 53 cuts and I think that's probably scenario number two if no one's really showing out just wait for cuts and at that point there you go right you can just fill somebody in there uh mudy really nothing to worry about I de him making the roster so it sucks for those two players with that said it's not something that's going to be a crippling to this franchise for this season in my opinion but you want to know what can be from the preseason game coming up here in a week and my answer is this I want to see the backups no starters I I think it is important that we know our at least for the offense the starters there right the players who we know is going to be starters there's no reason to have them play I I don't see a reason for it go ahead and throw the backups in there you're talking about young players like aaran Arnold okay can get some snaps in there Jack Campbell with that said I think it's really important the Lions go ahead and just rest the starters the guy you know you're going to contribute and give a ton of reps to hooker who to me is the player that I'm keeping a key eye on offensively is how is his development going to be we got to watch that versus the Giants and same with Jake Bates the kicking position you know we've seen it UFL we've seen it in training camp but can he do it now in an NFL game yes it's only preseason but it's still a NFL game where there is a lot of people there it's much higher Stakes than the UFL so those are the really the big things that I'm looking forward to uh for this up incoming game I think that's just something that the Detroit Lions probably should look to see is how the backups are doing and if they're not Training Camp doing good again opposite of Aiden Hutchin same name a pass rush you want the Lions to sign anyone in the comments below now let's go ahead and talk about training camp here as we know it's been taking place Jake Bates he made four out of five field goals only miss a 60 Yer really good right there and that's a good sign hen and hooker when it comes to offense in the backup he continues to struggle a little bit and he's staring down the receiver in the end zone resulting in two interceptions and this is something that's going to have to fix every single practice leading up to preseason and to determine if he is going to be the guy who's going to be backing up Jared gof for the foreseeable future as we know though there's going to be three quarterbacks on this team right so he's going to make the team we just got to see his progression he's ready to take over the backup role when it comes to some players who have been absolutely On The Rise that you may have not heard of so we're going to talk about other players one of the guys I've been talking about is Ree Fountain and he is making his case right now to move up to the number four wide receiver spot matter of fact if I'm a a betting man and this is how I'm going to be right now it stands is Aman ra St Brown Jameson Williams khif Raymond and darus Fountain that's your one two three four Donovan peoples Jones is taking a step back so you have one player in Fountain who's going in the right direction that we don't talk about and you got Donovan peoples Jones we haven't heard anything and that in me that is a negative thing offensively so he needs to get better there Anan green is being Antoine green I haven heard really any good or any bad about him so that's something that we'll watch in preseason he did fine last year in preseason so I'm not too worried about that just want to see how much strides he gets there so the the backup Ro for the wide receiver battle is going to tighten and and these are things that we're going to be watching in preseason because just because you do good in Camp it doesn't mean that you're going to do good in a game we've seen that many times so we're going to be watching that quite a bit here uh Jameson Williams rise I if he gets playing time we'll see if he can do it there but this is something that he is the biggest winner so far in training camp by far it's not even close Jameson Williams has been absolutely stunning out there he is much stronger faster confident the guy is going to have a breakout year he is the biggest winner in training camp and I know a lot of fans have been waiting for this moment to occur but really he's only had what two years under his belt so because he missed his rookie season basically so for him to make the significant jump that's taking right now is going to mean so much for the Detroit Lions offense it can't be underestimated how important his jump is and what he's going to do to the NFL again when you have a Jameson Williams who can stretch the field and that's what he is doing it is you cannot double everybody you can't double St Brown Sam lorta you can't double Jameson well you could jump you can't double Maul you just can't there's going to be players open with this offensive line This offense is going to hum having Jameson Williams take the top off the defense is going to be a epic new wrinkle to this Lions offense that we're about to witness and there have been formations that's taken at training camp that refuseed to tell anybody because I don't want it to getting out there let's just say a lot of new epic wrinkles to pen Johnson in this offense so I think Ben Johnson is a winner as well when I look at all of this I I just think it's going to be something to behold for the Detroit Lions will the Lions make a Super Bowl why for yes and for no let me know your thoughts in the comments below another player that's been tearing it up is Aiden Hutchinson he is probably the biggest winner defensively he is shown that he's taking the next step I think Elite level Nick Bosa type of level he has shown that in Camp it is absolutely amazing to see okay this is good for the Lions defensive line a lot of players are raving about Marcus Davenport I have yet to really hear much about Marcus Davenport but the players are raving that he could if healthy be a nice player NIS R straw is developing right now he had interceptions and you're now you're starting to see the younger guys like tyon Arnold and R raw really start to make a name for themselves a lot of people were upset that they took corner back cornerback in the draft back to back now you're seeing it was the right move so shout out to rraw shout out to Jameson Williams Derrik Barnes with an interception he continues to be a player that you cannot discount at the linebacker position we all love Jack Campbell but Derrik Barnes is playing really well good for him all in all so far when I look at this training camp and if you've been watching me for since I started YouTube you'll know I'm not a hyperbolic guy but this is the best training camp that I've read and or seen so far this is the best news coming out um this team is well prepared they're locked in every player is like this it is good to see that they took that loss in San Francisco to heart and they're putting in the work right now very good training camp not a lot of negatives generally speaking I can go over players that are negative but there's not a lot here right now there's
