Elite UGA Football Players Gushed Over Trevor Etienne | What His Addition Means

this is probably true for most schools but with Georgia obviously we get a lot of media opportunities to speak with the players throughout the season during the offseason not so much it's pretty lock down right they don't they don't want the players talking too much and especially Kirby and and georg's staff want them to keep things in house well media days is another opportunity to talk to a couple players I think at media days there you know there's obviously Regional media National media there big media than just local beat reporting they're a little looser they're a little they're not as uptight even Kirby's in a better mood so you get Malachy Starks Carson Beck and mik Mikel Williams at media days last week and normally they're really reserved for what they're talking about and especially if they're talking about a player they're almost always extremely reserved with the way that they want to discuss it well I thought that when it came to Trevor etn there was a little bit of a spark in Malachi Stars size there was a little bit of a head nod there with Mikel Williams talking to highlevel Georgia Defenders that are projected to be first round picks in this upcoming NFL draft in 2025 they both spoke highly of Trevor eten new transfer running back from Florida right he's played two years at Florida he's projected to be Georgia starting running back George's lead back for this season potentially Beyond if he decides to stay after this year I think with him there's been kind of a lot of back and forth with what he's going to do with his a maybe back and forth in my head with what he's really going to bring to this offense I think that the thing that seems pretty clear and what seems like a general consensus is that he is better than what Georgia has had the last couple years he is better than essentially saying that he is better than dejun Edwards and and Kendall Milton right that's pretty much the common thought pattern for for all these experts and everything and Malachi Starks said that he was special um now okay he didn't go on and on about it talked about how he was special how hard it was to play against him in practice Mike H Williams reporter talked about what Malachi said and Michael Williams just you know very much agreed nods his head when they're talking about other players on their team it's they try to be almost all inclusive um something common you'll get when hey tell us about this young guy that's performing tell us about this DB that's performing tell us about this wide receiver that's performing most of the time the player will say well all of these guys well oh well it's more than just him it's it's this and that or they'll just give a really boring answer or they just don't even answer the question when it came to Trevor etn it was yeah like this dude's special like we love his attitude we love the way he plays um obviously you've seen on tape that he can bounce off Defenders he can make players Miss and I just to me it felt like it felt like they weren't just bsing it felt like hey tryan's really good and if you doubt him then I don't know you're goingon to be wrong that's the way it felt at least will he be that obviously we have to wait until football really starts for us to see you know what is Trevor etan's impact on this offense and I've got kind of a a comparison I think of what this Georgia offense really can be what this Georgia team really can be because when you think about each year each year is dependent is independent of another year like that from Kirby Smart it's not just coach speak it's it's real every year is different and all the variables are different well I think a lot of people and and just kind of the way that George's discussed it's kind of compared against that 2021 team how special that defense was obviously in particular even though that team didn't go 15 and0 the way the 22 team did I think people believe that that 21 team was better and that seems to be a consensus to me this 24 team it has characteristics of the 2021 team and mainly to me that's NFL talent and what the output I think will be in actually is on the offensive side of the ball this time but I think in terms of the way it can produce the way that the offense is going run how good the defense is actually going to be it's kind of like the 2022 team and Trevor etn is a very big key in that thing a key in that machine you look at George's statistics from 2022 they were passing this is one of the years they came together where Georgia I mean this was in terms of offensive output this was the year that Georgia really figured out how to throw and pass at a really high level 2019 when DeAndre Swift who is the comparison Kirby said himself is the comparison for what Trevor etn can maybe be in this offense and just is as a football player well DeAndre Swift was a thousand yard back in 18 and 19,200 yard back in 2019 when he was the lead back well in 22 was a little bit more of a split bag in that backfield Kenny McIntosh getting 830 yards Dej Edwards getting 770 yards Kendall Milton getting almost 600 yards so they ran for a lot and you had the Branson Robinson garbage time and ston Bennett obviously the threat with his legs that was a very productive rushing Year 3,000 yards in 2022 in 2019 they only ran for 2500 yards and there were only 25 more attempts so Georgia ran the ball much more effectively in 2022 when they didn't have that running back well the passing game has improved the offensive line has improved and now what you're getting is you're getting a player that is discussed as being the quality of a football player over DeAndre Swift and those higher level running backs that georg's had and you're plopping him into the more modern version of Georgia in the 2020s versus the end of the 2010s with a enhanced offensive line do they have that this year yes they do have that this year I think they have potentially more than one all americ on the offensive line I think that all five of them could get drafted six of them could get drafted I'm not joking when I say that and then you got a defense I think has an opportunity to be slightly better than 2023 is defense 2022 defense was very good if this Georgia defense can be the 2022 defense I think we're talking about well we already talking about a national championship Contender but when you plop in etn who is apparently according to everybody now a very very good football player a top 10 running back in college football according to the ESPN a special player according to georg's defensive players a game changer according to experts you're plopping him into the more modern version of georg's offense that features a Carson backck and a passing game that's going to be well respected by the defenses combined with an offensive line that has been competing for Joe Moore Awards and will likely compete for that again and a defense that is probably better than the defenses of 2016 17 1819 earlier than that when Georgia was boasting Elite running backs every single year that's the excitement with Trevor TN that's where your eyes start to get wide open about what this offense really can be because what is the expectation the expectation is that this Georgia passing game is going to be very good even though it's two best pass catches of the last two years are not there anymore in lad makoni and and Brock Bowers and Brock Bowers being one of the most important players of Georgia history Carson Beck Dominic love it Dylan Bell Kobe young Benjamin you're Oscar D plenty of very talented football players here they don't have to have a brock Bowers as long as at least a couple of them kind of step forward as players that are more dominant more impactful they're going to be just fine and and maybe even that doesn't have to happen now behind Trevor Roger Robinson Branson Robinson cash Jones The Freshman right there's three of them you can't know which ones are actually going to be contributors until the season until the season goes I think that rodri is year two will be a solid rb2 now he's a breakout candidate he's going to get more touches than he did in 2023 when he was like around 200 300 yards 30 more not 30 carries it was less than that I believe he had about 20 something carries I'd have to double check that but it's going to improve this year in terms of numbers and he's a very different running back and he's going to bring power and brutes and you're going to get a little bit of that with Branson Robinson too when he's healthy I think that by the middle of the Season he will probably look closer to what he was that's all projection though we don't know what Branson is um that's that's a weird way to put it we don't know where he's at healthwise we don't and then those freshmen they could be electric that's kind of the vibe you get from those rback is electricity speed explosiveness a little sprinkle of that towards the end of games and we're talking about it the 2022 football team that's that's what this 2024 team can be and yes the deers are independent from each other and you don't compare them but just the breakdown the secondary reminds me of 22s the linebacker room really is closer to 21s in my opinion but the defensive the front sev's probably more like 20 22s versus versus 2021 so I
