[Music] rundown well welcome back to the college football 25 showcase Nick mesco along with you just an amazing if you were hanging out with us these last couple hours we had a a lot of fun diving into the dynasty mode but I know there are a lot of people out there I've seen the chat rolling you guys are here for one thing and one thing only and it's a marquee matchup joining us now man needs no introduction you may know him from Fox Sports you may know him from the cover of mad no4 but I know him as one of the most electrifying players in football history as none other than Michael Vic Michael thank you so much for hanging out with us thank you man thanks for having me I'm curious when before we hop into the game you know when you were back in college how did you get your chance to play a lot of the old school NCAA football when you were in blackburg yeah um you know it was something that we anticipated we was waiting on that game to come out especially when I was on the game when I guess my first year must have been my second year um just knowing that like that's that's me on the video game and every year after that freshman sophomore junior year I didn't make it to my Jun year but knowing that you was going to be on that college football game um for a long time that was really cool so we anticipated that just like we anticipated M it's got to be wild for you looking at the landscape of college football how much it's changed over the last 20 years I mean you're talking about transfer portal you're talking about nil deals you're talking about the players actually being into the game that's got to be a wild thing to take a step back and realize how much it's it's changed over 20 years yeah and it's it's totally different I mean obviously from when I played um but you know that's just the natural progression in life everything is supposed to continue to move forward continue to get better um I expected the college football game to be in the state now where you know we knew it could always be and uh it's better for the players um you know some schools is tough for um but you know you just got to keep going rolling with the punches and at some point you know hopefully uh you know your team will get the recruits and have the money to be able to compete with everybody else well I want to give you a chance to take a look because we've actually got the game loaded up right now um at some of the uniforms for for Virginia Tech and I think we got the new uniforms this year the the new ones are are in there as we take a look we just flip over uh bring back memories to I think it's right here here we got the new these are the new home uniforms okay and then we got the the new away uniforms as well I like the stripe on the should yeah that's kind of cool and I like I'm a big fan of white shoes man so coach BMA used to make us wear the black shoes he said it looked a little more you know more intimidating but white is clean make you look fast you also got the alternate almost the the they remind me of the the Tampa Bay Buccaneer creamsicles yeah yeah yeah they uh I could have rocked that you could rocked that the number seven that would have looked crazy well I'm going to I'm actually going to pass the sticks off to you I want you to get just a little taste of play we're going to put you in those 2023 uh Unis yeah and let you uh 2023 home yeah let you have some fun with this one we've actually set it up commonweal class what what do you remember UVA was tough back in the day yeah I mean what I remember about it I won two two years back the back um it was no way UVA didn't recruit me no shade the UVA 25 okay we can we can throw a little shade just a little bit that's fine but yeah they didn't recruit me so um I had a vendetta I had a a passion to get back as we load in by any means necessary I want to get your reaction just to how they got blackburg because you talked about one of the great College environments I mean talk to me your memories about coming out of the tunnel that crowd was rocking every night man um so during my time we didn't have the uh this whole chant and in a sand man we didn't have that that was um Brian Randle and Tyrod Taylor my brother's era but when you came out that tunnel I know for me being able to look up in the stands and see you know 60,000 people and playing in high school and only seeing you know 2000 you know every weekend um and then they it was like my dedication my hard work that I put in during the week was to make those fans happy uh and give them something to about get them up off their feet so that was always the primary [Applause] focus to kick things off in blackburg I get a little warm up before 10 well yeah listen we want to give you a little time time get your feel for the game we won't tell Tim that you got to practice don't tell him that look at that last meeting though o sorry last meeting this this past year yeah it last year yeah it tough out there tough out there for the Cavaliers out there it's tough out there for the Cavaliers all right let me see all right we stay in the pistol I'm going try to get as close to our offense as I possibly can there we go a full wide set drones there we go got him nice baby you got some playar Mak some tackles I don't know if you know anything about rolling out of the pocket and making some throws I feel like he did that once twice yeah you know what man that was part of my uh in the repertoire yeah that was part of my my regime or what I brought to the table on a consistent basis uh let me just let me just quell the chat I see a lot of people talking Tim TBO is on his way he didn't he he's he's coming don't you worry we're just giving a uh that's a nice break on the ball yeah we just debuting the uniforms we got to get show VT some love I mean back in the day give VT some love man we coming back strong this year man I I I'll say this had a good year last year last year I mean Virginia has always been one of those places you never wanted to go and have to play in Black you don't you you really don't man because uh it's a hostile environment and even the opposing team get hyped to the end the sand man so drones come on oh man you can't get in the way are you talking to your tackle at that point like bro you got to oh yeah I'm defin talking to my tackle got a little p on the back you got to get you got you got to move your feet over there got to see some agility from me I mean is it a matchup that you can't handle if so you know I let Coach know o a little slip screen it's running back right here we uh we was able to keep him um he's a really good player for us last year let me Putt and play some defense uh one of the big things in uh in college football is this HomeField Advantage did you like as a college athlete like recognize like when you were going into hostile environment how much of an effect did that have on you guys as you played um the the HomeField Advantage it's a real thing uh it's always about momentum I think in football so and I think it starts with the defense whenever we got the ball first to start the game uh I felt like we always was in the we always went three and out no kidding okay and and that energy from the crowd and them getting you know turned on and and you know being in uh you know being into the game it was uh you know that's what got me going and and that's what gave me my my energy and that's what college football is all about I feel like whenever you walk into that Stadium at home and that crowd is is vexed and Loud coming out of that tunnel the crowd's going crazy it's hard for quarterbacks because we got to channel our energy and we can't get too you know we can't get too caught up in in in the hype in the game cuz we got to obviously you know make throws under pressure and stay composed but college football is different it's different man it is it's as fun as it gets uh I I actually just saw uh our man Tim T just walked in we're getting him miked up so uh we're going to step away for just a second get him miked up get him ready to go when we come back the Marquee match up it's going I'm just a sad Ohio State fan who watched that florid team beat me uh it is not other than Timo thank you so much for hanging out with us oh it was my pleasure thanks for having me how cool is this seeing the college football game back 10 years it's been since college football was actually I've got something for you I don't know if you remember this one oh I do remember this I forgot all about that too that is so sweet is that was a time a moment well I'll tell you it's an honor to be here and it's an honor to play this game I'm so excited for it it's also an honor to be uh with Mike he's just I don't think he has any idea how many times I went outside and and uh and grabbed a football and pretended I was him no doubt I think we I got I gotta say I don't think you have any any idea how much I was rooting for you in the national championship against that other team and I can't even say their name I can't even say their name and that was one of the best games that I've ever seen a quarterback play yeah we got close man it was it was you took over it was hey what you want to play National Championship we go we going to straight to it but so here's what we got we got set up let's throw it to the consoles because we've got I mean it would be no surprise that we got VT and and Florida set up we have to we got to yeah we got to do champ why not I mean or we oh we do a warmup okay it's fine let's let's go to let's go to the swamp first we bring B1 to swamp so just go to exibition get us there y okay perfect and then you want to go down go to four minutes there we go okay and then why don't we go down to time and flip that to an eight let's do night game in the swamp let's do a night game in the swamp night game in the swamp there we go we ready go to advance the game that's you no that's you that's one of my favorite Parts is that is that a real thing when come 100% it looks so real we walk out we touch the gator head we walk out we hit the sign and it is just it's a surreal feeling I know blackburg is really sweet the Home Advantage we got the understand man everybody got they they little niche I'm not going to lie just hearing the bands again in the game it's just so sweet it's it's kind of hard for me to go to college football games because it almost like walking in it I I like I get I get touched by it cuz that that little moment in time me a lot a lot to me as far as playing college football man it was like a dream come true I dreamt of playing in NFL but playing college football even though Florida didn't recruit me well that was that's one of the worst decisions we ever made I don't think so I think uh might had Doug Johnson in coming off Doug Doug Doug good play old school all right let's focus in we doing this is how you know this is real we almost don't have the camera angle to watch this guys they got gamer pose ready to go so these guys guys are are ready I get to look at his plays yeah you get to you get to screen peek a little bit I get to screen peek empty empty Back Field I have it I loved empty I got to go to it yes with the former Wisconsin uh Badger gr Merz at the helm at Florida play clock down to three merch back to pass Corner route yes indeed team Tebo knows where to find those Corner routes the commitment jerseys too those are tough right a little it's been a minute it's been a little B it's been a actually one of the easiest ways to see a defense in my opin you spread them out and you see it I I think there are a lot of people myself included who empt is a little intimidating CU you had so many options but you're saying that makes CLE the defense yeah it makes you de cleare it making clear merch right up the scene picked off going the other way actually actually thought deleted it I thought swamp shaking it really is quick throw to the flat got him oh balls out rolls out of bounds big hit gross it you heard the sound effects yeah okay in the swamp I like this nothing like a night game in a swamp H it's awesome you know what one of the best parts is when right before you run out they say only Gators get out of Al see know when you play there really you really feel like you believe it though back in the day I'm telling you when I was when I was in high school nobody wanted to go to the swamp that was always nobody wanted that nobody got out of there in one piece slip screen oh man I like the way they moving the the game feels fast right it feels fast definitely feel fast yeah the team did a such a great job at getting that college football field where everything is just a little faster a little quicker yeah I it's still it's still a little bit of an adjustment for me actually seeing the names of the players on the field CU back in the day you had numbers qb5 look at that wde look at that wide hash them hash is so wide all you got to do is throw outs and stop routs all day and now you got teams like Tennessee lining up almost sideline to sideline how do you stop something like that very careful got to get fast on defense you got to just have speed this over the middle what did I just do I don't know that was lucky that one picked I thought was getting that one to pick swamp is rocket oh I would not want to be an opposing quarterback trying to come in with the stadium is this rocking you can't even hear yourself think let alone call out hot [Applause] routs back to pass going right right he's got him come 15 10 5one touchdown shoot the Hokey silent the home crowd on the road on the road breaking tackles and breaking hearts that was beautiful good job Lane that sweet good job oh we missed it Oh no you're good you're good it's fine it's fine seven nothing see VT I get them push-ups here baby that's seven you do like 56 something today man you're not saying a lot about my defense feel good there we go nickel Gator's back on offense down seven to nothing but plent time left there was plenty of time need it's one of those deep breath huddles everybody take a deep breath we're fine so no so no commentary I home there is commentary in the game oh it's commentary in Ni the scene so you've got two commentary teams you can choose from one is um Chris Fowler and Kirk herbstreet oh really and one is uh ree Davis Jesse Palmer and David Pollock they're all awesome all great to man so Al we would hurry up on this play yeah I do inside Zone oh favorite place to go outside of the swamp you know one of the places I I just one of the things about college is I just love the pageantry I love when it matters um and one of the place that the places that was just ridiculously passionate let me guess Tennessee they are it's really I no I was gonna say um LSU CU it's Valley okay okay yeah looking over the top tough throw SWAT of the way Death Valley did you ever play Death Valley at night L that's a game unbelievable that's a game that is a game Wilma Arctic says fire up chip shout out to Central Michigan fire up chips J the Wolf sayc come out early wol I did not stayed all you stay all four years wow I wish I have stayed all four let's go D oh good click Wilson SP let's go he was right there that hurry up offense Trey Wilson's really good player quick I me he's going he's going to I think he's going to have a great season I got some pretty good quarterbacks over there too Graham is really underrated DJ lagway came we got ourselves a ball game 7 nothing Hoke's on top joining us now the the man the myth the legend is none other than OG Scott OG Gallagher my friend good to see you two legends two legends right here man good to see it like the shoes appreciate it got to throw back to the Mamba uh man how long you waai for this day uh long time uh long time long time it's just good man just just how well 14 was received obviously we go through covid and you know there's a lot of guys Chad Ben other guys that just held it down for so long just on 14 so it's great and you get these two guys in here it just makes everything unbelievable you know it's awesome little little red I knew that was coming get off the B touchdown gor see back in the day back in the day when Tim was there you used to had to defend against down you had Chris leak pass the ball you had TBO coming in R the ball like you had no way to defend that red zone offense one year okay one a nice do a nice sty beautiful go AC fine so you don't hit it all the way at the end thanks for letting me know tap and hold tap an old don't worry you're goingon to get on the kickoff no good talk good talk guys good talk now you tell me you hands of our best player okay that's a 3 three let go 3 three and obviously with us out here you alluded to it earlier with the commentary teams right two different commentary teams you got the big game commentary team um so which is great for the guys and everybody watching us live like man I like the speed of the game nice that was a big emphasis for us too it's funny you guys say that was just making it just quick explosive like that was fast like college football real yep nice oh oh so there's a lot of lot lot of depth I think it's easy to get into and then we' got like coverage shells that you guys can get into you can show one you show two I don't want to put that on you you just started over the middle drag got him tackles first down yep good play yeah I'm always impressed every time I look at it the depth in this game all the stuff can do I mean talk about you know 10 years since the last one came out how much more is now in this game oh my gosh I don't even know where to start um the first thing uh I'm just throwing the ball I'm trying to figure out some strategy I know me and Mike were talking about earlier uh even before we got in was the whole our new wear and tear system right and so it's just this constant uh just changing the way the meta taking hits over the course of a game you're going to be feeling that one in the third quar you can't let's go so Tim that's what you see on the left side of the reticle little Pips those are basically showing whatever body part that you have that could potentially be hurt it's just a it's just going to alert you so it's like if you get if you get rolled up on or you get cut like you would in real life your acceleration is taking a hit your speed's taking a hit so change of Direction attributes go down attributes are tied to body parts hold up fellas third and three make it a fourth and nine so something we were talking about before was obviously one of the greatest Mike's are Bo Jackson that that's what it is like in you go back to 2004 the bottom so where they're standing you see that Circle that's the those Pips that they're talking about right on the left side right over here yep so you'll see it when you come out you'll see it on your quarterback uh underneath them and it only shows like hey whatever s you could have a bad elbow and a bad ankle it's just going to show the worst like it if it's yellow could be his elbow and then that would mean hey medium short long pass accuracy Tak you see at the bottom on the left side of to play Blitz zero on me that's what that's what we're doing I see how I see how it is I'm just trying to get my defense ready for the future how in um that some re do you give it or keep it oh oh yeah so now you now we okay love that you went here so as we were thinking about this mechanic we always felt like it was backwards right in real life you're holding it with the Assumption to keep to give it to them until the read key comes and then you're pulling right and you know years you know prior years back in 13 it was the opposite you like oh now need to hand it off so if you don't touch anything you'll just hand the ball off you hold you keep if you want to keep it tap it it's an action button now yep tap a tap a or you hit the receiver I to keep to keep yep or if you're an RPO situation you see that bubble just you know just press the the icon of the receiver and you can throw it immediately love it but it really allows it to like slow it down and just kind of read it make the read yeah there it is there's there's your bubble uhoh uhoh uhoh oh he's got speed oh he's got a SPO in the defense come on now I'm trying to a big change here too as you guys probably noticed uh especially I know you guys playing Madden like college Pursuit angles or everything so like you see it's a huge difference like you'll see guys taking very suspect angles and you'll see some other Elite ones taking some good ones so again really playing to the wide openen gam playay um that is college football there we go it's a good hand off nice PR good Pursuit takes a minute to get used to and then once you get it everybody wide the 80 yard wide so you can see right here in the formation see how it's highlighted yellow with 52 it's like okay he something's banged up on him he's taking a hit yeah okay and where is that again yeah show so so somebody hold uh left trigger and then press down on the right stick press down on the right stick now there you go so on this one you can see I don't know which one is getting stram but it can say right here right so you got you got your hand left hand so slightly banged up and so like for linman that's going to hit blocking pass blocking back to pass little swing route I felt that coming too some told me not to dve we talked about it a month ago the spin move is back here in college football is definitely your spin move was was kind of sweet I had it you had it at times it was pretty stop it I SP I don't know if I ever saw one person ever tackle you I spend it to the wrong guy a couple times you're just trying to be humble right no I like how you can execute you can actually execute the spin move it's just I don't know something about this game just been real fluid right there nice gr mer drag out got him beat him is a problem at least he tackled him in yeah he's he's he's a good play he's really good so he de started um yeah he was a freshman last year and had a really good season and now com I think Tim this I'm no no I'm not he already picked his defense I'm just kick it I just so when it goes you'll tap I mean you're going to hit it and then let go as soon as you hit in the middle it's going to fill up and then just let it go that's it so you want to hit in the middle and hold a until that meter Falls up H you'll probably get it just enough there but oh roughing the kicker so catch it in the middle and then hold and then it's going to fill up that meter Let It Go and just don't hit the red cuz the red means there an over he actually that more on the online game didn't mean first game but we were talking about earlier especially with wear and tear it's a very very Progressive you can still have the big hits but it really stops the exploitative play that people have done running quarterbacks 30 times in a game say that hey 30 you're the exception you're not the rule I love it I love when I K you run 30 times a game I felt like that last 10 what got you going yes it did and we got guys we have like the Workhorse ability like OE Gordon is somebody that has that r700 so his wear and tear all the [Applause] different come okay bringing the Debo I didn't ask Tim why did you go with the blacks um clean I I wanted him to go with the white to so there so I was going to go oppos when I go home I'm going with the orange yeah okay we bring that all orang I like it oh shoot I got to go yeah the Workhorse ability those guys they can take you know we really wanted to separate really true big old old school feature backs there we go oh oh good cut good cut he's at the 15 he's at the 10 out of bounds seven stops the clock sometimes you got to hit a guy late it's all good you got to hit him late let him know you there it's not going right and obviously we went into all the different playbooks and Thomas I can already tell that was one of my first things is starting to go through a lot of I love that because I also more of realist what I love and noou oh how much time left oh got like 10 seconds in the half I'm I'm go yeah no doubt I don't I I get nervous I always as a player I get nervous if if you you're up 19 to seven cuz now you're two plays away from make sure that 21 seven Mark I'd rather be aggressive early and know what you have to get late all right I respect [Music] it oh got off that that block came off that edive came off that edge kind of aggressive there's another part of it too right before you could throw it 50 times but if you're getting hit after the play it's never mattered until now yeah yeah oh so um the hit stick on this one same is same up same that up flick down is cut yep I was able to when you hit some of those hit sticks it feels like in this game they're really impacting feel a little bit like more fluid feeling with it I really like that you got out there oh I think early when you play it I like oh man this hard you know but the game is so fluid it's explosive it's like in it doesn't feel hard it feels it feels really fun like very uh great when Donovan Edwards was in here in here earlier but he playing MMG and that thing went 77 twice two games in a row basically going into overtime so it's great that you've seen some high scoring games defensive gam 10 181 oh you got it you got good height just get a little got to get the 190 and as we spoke before this is going to be half time is your biggest wear and quick Qui play by the way chat I see you out there if you got questions for them in the chat I'm watching through it uh I saw give us some questions Zach said is Turbo still the same like Madden it just feel fast I don't even know if it's turbo yeah think faster and honestly more fluid to play than I haven't even been in open field enough to even feel like to use my Turbo uh what G will they use generic coaches yeah it's generic coaches in the game there it is there you go that's the over KCK if you hit that at the top there's a chance drive right here oh he took it out get it's a big Drive let's go um how like realistic is kind of like strip and some of the unique things in the game like you know if you're going for the strip you more likely to miss the tackle yep all have been tuned all all those have been tuned so it's probably on the Lower Side to pull some of those off but yeah no definitely obviously more like on a fumble I mean on a uh hit stick would you know potentially cause more fumble especially on the timing go I just wanted to do that just to do I just pull it get that Q fired up a little bit P it just cuz and Tim the big one too is like what we did with weather like throwing a wet football as you know like is literally a fundamental component of it so like really hard the meter changing like accuracy drops you got to read the field that's really goes up yeah that's cool so somebody in the chat asked what was it like playing at do Walker playing state do Campbell do cell c um oh man that was a a a deep sigh we enjoyed playing at um dop Campbell we always we enjoyed that because we enjoyed giving them a nice little hold up I got hold on the thing is the buttons don't pop up I got to oh that's part of playing in the that's the home field advantage so the home field advantage is that take away some of those buttons so we have the top 25 places to play we've done it for all 134 but like if you're like in the swamp or you're in one of these top top Echelon places it's like communication basic your back is against the wall so basically you got to remember so we got next we put him at so we'll I mean that's good to know cuz 100% And you can see like our composure is playing into this too yeah so like you got to you know we also have an ability in here I don't know God it's probably really limited I should know more um I know ERS has it it's a field General ability so it kind of shows like little like you'll see twos around the safeties that will say hey this is the this is the two man two high shell one high shell this guy's com in free um if if you're within the down and dist War a lot here warh had a good question why did the corner have a flame under him the flame and the the snowfake that he was coming or he was the read guy stopped it I didn't see it was the hot fo what we got first and goal if you want to go two backs in the back field on this can you do that yeah if it's in the Playbook you should be able to the split twins yeah the split twins got two backs in the back field y um that's a tight end right now is it a tight end now yeah so you can do formation Subs yep oh kept it oh my mer rumbling red like nobody in the middle did he not get that second goal yeah he got short we check the replay down I want to see what we're dialing up here oh they got a lot of play What's This is sweet man I'm a fan of what you're doing right now bro of all I'm fan of what you're doing right now first of all I'm looking at his offense and he got a lot of different formation we got aot Virginia Tech got two formations goes to the pistol Full House yeah what was just pistol and shotgun now how whose idea was that I need to know we slight it we got like that's great he got to have at least 100 plays to choose for now keep in mind he's a quarterb kick oh you might sneak it in nope just hit the post yep wow I have some issues right now with my k you're good it's uh but once you get it you're yeah you'll it becomes pretty easy go now is that's it so man this is really this is really fun can I say thank you College dude is going to be in Kamp for real this is it's awesome it's fun to have it back especially for people that you know Madden's always it's awesome but man there's just a there's a different level of passion awesome for this game and to have oh thank you thank you for coming by great especially you two in particular not cuz you're here Reggie is another one like you look back like hey we need to really replicate them yeah you know what I'm saying with mechanics and things like that was a big you know how do we go ahead and Achieve that I think we made heck of a step now you're seeing all I I mean this in the best way possible as a compliment who do you feel like was more explosive in college you or Reggie Reggie Bush yeah hey Peter work was another one that you look at Peter work Peter work made a lot of people Miss but I don't think he had the same speed that they did no no yeah yeah and I Peter work incredible cuz Reggie was explosive too too man like teams to see what they was doing we start implementing some I I kind of got a glimpse of what college teams was doing but just over the last you know you get Cam Newton and RG3 and those guys and they they just you know Tim the offenses they was running they was W I mean they were spread out and they was just evolving you know using the quarterback as your primaries you know guys who can yeah carry the load like like Tim and Cam I mean I I remember Florida was one of that spread offense Ultimate dual threat right Tim Florida was one of those first teams to rock that spread offense and and people were spending years trying to figure out how do we defend it and then you start to see more and more teams taking what they saw at Florida and using it themselves nice pitch literally trying to the best play of the day that was nice I'm going to go for it yeah cuz again the new field goal leader kicking system when you start pushing that 40 plus range in college that thing is going to be moving you don't see too many 50 yard yeah you see a guy make you see a guy make one of those he probably going to play on it on Sundays the ref the ref spotting the ball people have really like that coming back just bringing back all those little touches have been important I got to say I'm impress these dudes are in here the hot rout I love it it is what's scary is if they got four games and they'd be championships when I was in uh in po Warner but it wasn't until I got to college to I felt like all right I got something I'm yeah I'm dominating every week and I think and it was I think it was more because more of a late bloomer or you just yeah I was a late bloomer I I learned defenses a little later so when I finally paired everything together I was able to just my my ability with the ability to to pass the football so so I never was like that guy growing up like especially in high schools let's go D there Campbell says average you're Vic nothing you do is average nothing I agree uh T money asked what made you decide on the college that you went to um for me Virginia Tech was the closest um so my family could I knew my family could commute there and get there without it being a problem having to catch a flight so it was in state and Coach Bing was a good coach yeah his track record yeah what made you pick Florida well I grew up a Die Hard Die Hard Florida fan that helps but um honestly I I I wasn't even really looking at them because I just um they you were getting firing their whole coaching staff and then they got this guy named Urban Meer D all of them and so that that honestly really changed the deal for me oh oh that RPO was tough I was trying to wait for it that was that was that was if we had the jump pass animation that's where it would have that that whole defense came forward find the tight end that was nice so you you actually you went to Florida right when Urban was brought in that was the second year the second year okay so I was actually
