>> GOOD MORNING, YES, I'M HERE LIVE AT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HEADQUARTERS RIGHT HERE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA. WE STILL GOT SOME STORMS TO BE TRACKED. SO HERE WE ARE WITH ON METEOROLOGIST HERE. GOOD MORNING TO TELL ME KIND OF WHAT HAPPENED WITH HO-NAY AND WAS IT GOING RIGHT NOW? >> SURE. SO HO-NAY PAST JUST SOUTH OF THE OF THE BIG ISLAND YESTERDAY AND NOW IT'S CONTINUING ITS WESTWARD TRACK AT ABOUT 13 MILES PER HOUR. IT IS A TROPICAL STORM NOW. IT BRIEFLY WENT UP TO HURRICANE STATUS YESTERDAY, BUT NOW IT'S BACK DOWN TO TROPICAL STORM AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE ISLANDS EX. AND I HEARD WE GOT SOME PRETTY HEFTY RAINFALL TOTALS FROM YESTERDAY WITH SOME KIND THE VALUES THAT WE SAW. >> THE HIGHEST RAINFALL AMOUNTS WE SAW WERE DEFINITELY ON THE BIG ISLAND WINDWARD, BIG ISLAND GOT. >> IN EXCESS OF 15 INCHES IN SOME PLACES, EVEN SAW SOME UP TO MAYBE CLOSER TO 20 INCHES OR SO WE SAW MOST OF THAT RAIN BEGINNING SATURDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH LAST NIGHT AND EVEN RIGHT NOW, IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE RADAR, WE'VE GOT SOME SOME KIND OF RAIN KIND OF MOVING UP TOWARDS THE SMALLER ISLANDS THIS MORNING. GOOD. I WAS THE TRACK NOW WITH A AND ONE OF THE STORMS BEHIND IT. HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO SURE. SO HO-NAY IS NOW LIKE I SAID, A TROPICAL STORM. IT'S ABOUT 250 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF HONOLULU. AND IT'S GOING TO CONTINUING MOVING WEST AWAY FROM THE ISLAND. SO THAT'S THE GOOD NEWS FOR THE STATE OF HAWAII. IT'S DEFINITELY MOVING AWAY FROM US NOW. SO THIS LAST LITTLE SHOWERS THIS MORNING, KIND OF PUSHING THROUGH THE SMALLER ISLANDS WILL EVENTUALLY MOVE OUT TODAY AND THEN KIND OF DRY UP. SO BEHIND OUT IN THE EAST PACIFIC, WE ACTUALLY HAVE ANOTHER HURRICANE HERE. HURRICANE GILMA THAT'S BEING TRACKED BY THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IN MIAMI. AND FORECAST TO MOVE INTO THE CENTRAL PACIFIC BASIN, CROSSING 140 DEGREES WEST SOME TIME PROBABLY SOMETIME TONIGHT. AND THEN THE CENTRAL PACIFIC HURRICANE CENTER WILL TAKE OVER ISSUING ADVISORIES ON GOMA RIGHT NOW. WE'RE EXPECTING IT CONTINUE AS A HURRICANE FOR THE NEXT LITTLE BIT. AND THEN EVENTUALLY WEAKEN TO A TROPICAL STORM AS IT MOVES INTO THE CENTRAL PACIFIC AND EVENTUALLY DIE OUT TO BECOME THE POST-TROPICAL LOW BEFORE IT REACHES THE ISLANDS. THAT'S EXCELLENT. AND ALSO WE KIND OF GOT A BREATHER. IS GONNA BE A LITTLE DRY? BUT BETWEEN RIGHT NOW HO-NAY AND WE COULD SEE SOME DRYING LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT IN BETWEEN. >> THE THESE 2 AREAS OF MOISTURE. OK, PERFECT. THANK YOU SO MUCH, THOMAS. FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO RIGHT HERE AT THE EPICENTER, WE'RE GETTING OUR INFORMATION RIGHT HERE FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. WE COME BACK. WE'LL LEARN MORE ABOUT HECTOR, WHICH IS IN THE EASTERN PACIFIC AS WELL SOME OF TRACKS THAT THE LOOKING AT.
