and we are live jlr investigates come on in everyone day three of the Manhunt for Joseph couch continues folks and uh authorities are going to be giving up giving a press conference shortly to get an update but as of now folks he has still not been caught he has still not been found we don't know if Joseph couch is dead or alive come on in uh I expected him to be caught by now yesterday I thought he was going to be caught yesterday but it's still unfolding here um earlier today just a little bit ago before we come before I came on here there was a Kentucky State Police Helicopter in that London um burnat area uh Exit 49 area of uh I75 in that area briefly but it vanished so we're looking at a live um screen at Flight Radar 24 um I also um have the scanner on I'm going turn the scanner up um to just kind of listening now what I've noticed today folks is a lot of hunters still out in that area and it seems like people are calling law enforcement on Hunters it seems like Hunters are popping up out of the woods and everything like that you know and authorities have been saying uh to telling the people in that area kind of stay out of the area because you don't want to be mistakened as a you know Hunters don't want to be mistakened as this guy right here this this this individual who's considered armed and dangerous um they still classify him as armed and dangerous though they as we heard yesterday they retrieved the AR-15 style rifle and also um they retrieved his vehicle too so uh they they think there's a possibility he could have another weapon on him um but we still don't got no sightings we still don't got no sightings that I I know of um and this is basically paralyzing the area because the um Laurel County School District is closed today all the schools closed today um I think there's additional School uh counties had some things closed down I know that the mayor of London has spoke yesterday and said churches in that area some of them shut down some businesses shut down so this is uh definitely affecting the Commerce and the livelihoods and the lifestyles of people in Laurel County um but still un un un you know it's still unfolding and I thought we just you know hang out for a while we're going to listen to the press conference that's coming up I do have the previous press conference I don't know if you guys listen to the previous press conference let's get Magnolia up in the chat Magnolia come on in in the chat and we'll talk a little bit about Joseph couch um I can share a story hello Magnolia hello hi everybody hello no um yesterday I showed you Magnolia remember I don't know if everyone remembers but um like I um I sent his Facebook uh um profile a message and said turn himself in I I I did that yesterday morning I don't know if everyone remembers um yeah but you know I checked that Facebook message later on in the day and he blocked me or it or it's unavailable or his Facebook account went down um I looked on alts and I can't find that account anymore but it's quite possible someone took his account down yeah I think maybe his mom did that you think his mom or if not the mom it would because I mean she was she was all over Facebook that night that first night remember yeah Mak comments so she knows her way around Facebook so I think it was either her or um the police yeah yeah I'm thinking maybe police possibly somebody got into his account just to see or maybe it's him yeah they could have contacted Facebook and said um take it down but um yeah I think if he had access to Facebook or the internet or something like that they would have probably caught him by now they can't say for sure whether he's alive or not from that pre past press conference that they gave two yesterday so I mean what what's your thoughts you think he's alive out there still and what what when do you get to the point where you tell the public you know you you open up schools again and in that situation I mean if you don't find him what what happens at this point I mean I don't know I mean the schools I think it's odd though I mean I understand the schools are closed but at the same time you know there's fugitives all the time and they don't close schools for that Kentucky State Police just put out a tweet saying there's a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Joseph couch they put out an alert I don't know if you could get this up on the screen Magnolia somehow um but I'll send this to you they just tweeted this out 15 minutes ago oh and they're offering a $55,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and he's still considered armed and danger Joseph couch born in 1992 51014 very very interesting because uh you know they just put this out and again they updated this two minutes ago okay so then now they also said a private donor has advised or they have been advised that a private donor has offered $10,000 reward for a total of $115,000 there's a $155,000 reward for his arrest should we add to it should we chip in $1,000 doll but the fact that they said that and they just tweeted that implies to me they think the guy could still be alive this is a $5,000 reward folks that was just tweeted out through Crim Stoppers yes but it's actually it's actually 15,000 because if you go down the Tweet the bottom uh if you follow the thread down there they say $15,000 wow folks $155,000 reward for the arrest of Joseph couch $155,000 reward yeah we're gonna scroll down a little bit mag by the way Magnolia runs the streamyard uh folks she does an excellent do job doing this I kind of just talk and stuff like that um and she does the uh moving around yeah 15,000 so that's I mean that means that people are stepping to the plate in that area and maybe they just want to get this over with so they can get back to business because you know if you lived in that area if you lived around the 49er okay if you uh um lived around that area I mean wouldn't you want this guy caught right away especially if you're at the 49 gas station don't they have the exit ramps closed off the 49er uh gas station I saw a media Outlet there and right at the exit ramps on 40 uh Exit 49 they have them closed so I think that 49 and that 909 area is is is still closed they don't want nobody up in [Music] there yeah I don't know I don't think that they'll be able to keep schools closed long term think they'll have to go back to school at some point maybe I mean maybe they'll split it up like maybe some parts of the lural county school district will stay open While others where which is close to that 49 exit might stay closed I don't know how many schools are up by 49 exit East bernstad maybe between East bernstad and Livingston maybe schools around there what do you think yeah did they ever did they ever close schools during calante they closed long with Gardens but not the schools I I actually forgot Magnolia even though about a year I forgot I'm not sure yeah well it was rhetorical I I think the answer is no no I actually think they did close some things down what about remember Sean Williams when he was on the loose yep and they found him all the way down in Florida okay here we go so now I can show this let me see I had to I had to log into Twitter on on here um yeah so there's the 5,000 here's the rest of that thread a private donor private donor who's the private donor we gotta we gotta get that private donor a stake no seriously I think that's a good thing I like it I like these you know covering True Crime a lot of times when crimes occur in rural communities a lot of the communities actually come together in the in in the rural areas you know when when these tragedies happen for instance if a missing child or a missing person and they're looking for someone in the woods uh the whole you know Community comes out and tries to do their best to help it's more of like a family everyone considers thems a family and this is this is this is rural this is a rural part of Kentucky I mean it's south of Lexington I mean we saw all we' showed for the last couple days all the you know it's it's Rolling Hills it's trees but Community comes together and they look out for one another and these type of tragedies yeah and I saw where they they had put something out yesterday about if people wanted to bring food and stuff for the Searchers and law enforcement they had a certain area where people could go to do that yeah so we do have a press conference coming up with an update um I think there's going to be a lot of pressure on law enforcement to say whether they feel he's alive or not or maybe I possib quite possibly you know there could be a point where they say they're scaling down um Mara made a good point she said that they have virtual schools so I mean yeah that's true they could do online remote classes in the meantime and someone else said yes they closed for calante remember you interviewed the young boys at the Wawa ah I forgot about that yeah up there uh that's right those guys were Fester County see it's been so long I I I really should have remembered that so people are people are saying that this search here for um Joseph remind there's people out there tweeting that it reminds them of the search for sha Christie in Kentucky back in 2018 um fugitive Shan Christie was captured on September 21st after a five-day Manhunt in the woods or it was it it was actually in um Ohio I believe but was it Ohio and you know Sean Christie think it was Ohio search but sometimes these manhunts take a while because you know this guy here it's out there that he served in the military right kind of has that survivalist type of thing to you know he could be hunkered down we don't know like if he has like a bag of peanuts on him or some sort of Trail you know like a like a like a survival kit backpack type of deal on them or something like that or we don't know about the cabin aspect around there we don't know if he brought busted in you know we don't even know if he's alive because some people say well he offed himself right but what about if he left that gun behind which authorities said yesterday they don't they don't know why he would just leave the AR-15 behind but if he doesn't have a weapon how can he do some self harm to himself like that I mean I'm sure there's other ways to do it but what do you think yeah I don't know I don't for some reason I don't think that he killed himself I think he's still hiding somehow but here that we're looking at the flight radar earlier today there was a there was there was a chopper up shortly but how come they're not they don't have the thermal things out there like that I mean thing I see is these meds that keep going all over the place you know well I saw someone um on Twitter that was covering this they said you know how the the other night when we were watching it on the radar and the helicopters kept disappearing yeah um they were saying that they do that to hide their location basically so that they can be stealth and he won't know where they are you know you can't hear they do it so they do it on purpose I guess yeah but he's not going to hear [Laughter] the above them yeah I'm sure he can hear them but maybe not through the trees maybe he couldn't be able to see exactly where they are because of all the trees and stuff but again like with this particular man home which I feel it's big yeah they do they've have done some reports but I just think local media in general hasn't really done a great job on this one it's more about it seems like the YouTubers are the one that's bringing awareness to this oh yeah another thing too that we were um since we covered this the other night the medical remember the medical helicopters that were out there they were actually using those for searching so the one that we kept see all night that one it it said um I forget what it was called but yeah so apparently they were using those medical helicopters for search ah how do you know that um it was reported someone actually emailed it to us yesterday yeah see cuz up at the top corner there in Crab Orchard there's a there's another Medical helicopter on its way down but that started out in um according to flight radar that one started out um in um London so it might be working its way back down you could see it coming across the screen at the top that's a that's a that's an air uh Evac life life team Chopper so the one at the top by Crab Orchard you see a helicopter see that one yeah yeah so this one here started out in London but I I think it's totally unrelated why well because it it zoomed up to that area um and then it it it's going back down it's farther away all all band thank you thank you for the support so people keep posting in the comment in the chat about this trail cam picture we've seen that picture um but you said that you didn't think it was real right no I don't think it's real the trail cam picture of the that sighting of the trail cam um it's being circulated by these foreign media companies and uh I don't I don't think it's him I think it's fake because every every tweet every time it's tweeted out on Twitter people are responding on it and saying this is fake this is fake yeah and everyone's saying that Jennifer posted it Jennifer coff and deer but yeah um we saw that earlier yeah we saw well I mean it pequ my interest too because upon getting up in the morning I see this thing and instantly oh my God he's still alive he's still alive it's that shows that hey the guy's still alive and out there because my my whole thing on this Manhunt is proof of Life at this point from the time the incident happened to this uh you know listening to the scanner the top you know all these hunters and false sightings and things like that um even even the press conference they said they've been inundated with calls though good right it's better because you never know what could be what um but no proof of life yet that I that you know they have it said for a fact that this guy's alive five counts of attempted murder and five counts of first-degree assault [Music] and you know at one point Magnolia you know like I told like I discussed with you we we were I or I don't I don't know if you were you really wanted to come with me because I never got your answer with that um but you know we were considered going up there but what's the point if they got the area blocked off um plus it's rural we don't even know about the live streaming capabilities up there and stuff Kevin thank you Kevin says former special Warfare we train Army and SE e survive survival evade resistant Escape I believe he had this training in his way gone from that area he is Ghost thank you for the comment and some people do believe that he could have left the area and they're just searching out in the woods for someone that's not even going to be there but where would he go because I looked in the I looked in the database about his his like he he lives to the south of London not far south but he doesn't have any outside Kentucky ties but that whole area is there's just forest and everything like that the whole area is pretty much Forest land you know right smacked right on the Tennessee Border it's a lot of air flights out there by the way but where could he be and what do you do at this point like how do you do this like at one point you're going to either have to bring kids back to school but then you're always going to have in this mind that this dude out there is out there like it's someone that just shoots now remember yesterday in that press conference I was listening to the press conference the first one because they spoke twice yesterday one was like an eight minute one and then another was a good 30 minutes we never even played them yet on the channel we can to keep people up to speed but I remember the first one like someone asked the pi I guess he's the Pio the spokesperson there about uh motive here and they said we have an idea but I mean we're not going to share that like it's like more or less like they they they speculate they know why this guy did this why would this guy just go buy a truck stop go around on the Forest Road Park his vehicle go up into the woods with AR15 and shoot down on I75 on innocent Vehicles you know nine Vehicles he h allegedly why would he do that like why would somebody in their mind like what do they want to do what are they trying to accomplish here this an act of like terrorism like what what do you want to do here with this well we know they did also confirmed that it was not Road Rage which a lot of people were spreading that around I don't know where people even came up with that in the first place um people were saying it was road rage but they yesterday they said it's definitely not road rage it was random if it's road rage you wouldn't go around shooting cars you would shoot the car that made you mad you don't go around shooting every other car too because you're mad at the traffic that's ridiculous yeah Raad wage makes no sense because cars are flying by there they're they're passing there in a split second yeah it's that never that never made sense I don't know where people came up with that um it's a terror to me it's it's domestic terrorism domestic terrorism well said I that I on period form of domestic terrorism um I want to say like it has kind of like um well it hasn't St remember remember fre the one that shot at Pennsylvania state ters and was out in the woods for for a long time which one fre his last name was freen in Pennsylvania and let him on on a manh hunt um I want to say Eric free but I want to make sure I got his first name name right yeah Eric he shot and killed Troopers and then went out into the woods but but you know what I mean like let me just see of what his motive was during a midnight shift change in 2014 troopers were at the Pennsylvania barracks In Bloom Grove Blooming Grove Pennsylvania he opened fire on them with a 308 caliber rifle three days after the shooting a man walking his dog found a suspicious looking 2001 Jeep Cherokee partially submerged in a retaining pond really remote part of the Pennsylvania Poconos and then he was just the Manhunt the man hunt was out there and uh it grew to 200 officers and it was it for a long long time looking for this guy and what did he do he shot he did what now ambushed two Pennsylvania state troopers at their Barracks just ambushed with a gun and then took off so it kind of has that Eric freen type of situation and you know I might want to sit you know like this guy kindor I get the Eric fre Vibes I get the Eric Rudolph Eric Rudolph type of VI you know what these he's like I don't know man something tells me this guy has in his mind that he's a survivalist and he can he can hunker down in the woods dream was bad so go far but was crazy though because I was paying attention to that case but so far I even forgot his first name at one point I'm like green is it I want to make sure he's Eric F I got his name plus he got military training right mil anyone anyone that has military training you know you can can knows how to pretty much hunker down in the woods if need be right wrong yeah well people are saying they think he was trained when he was in the Army to evade in the woods but the the scanner I mean I've been listening to the scanner it's just a bunch of calls about people you know seen in the woods with guns but it's more about but that to me it's like it's still like to me I'm like and there's the chopper right there there there's one Chopper right in that general area [Music] I had somebody knock on my door I think it was a Jehovah's Witness I I heard a door knock and I'm like who's this who's knocking on my door don't get very door knocks very often I didn't order door Dash yeah um you know what we could do you want to play that press conference Magnolia before the press conference yeah I haven't watched it so that that that latest so to keep people updated some people that might not be paying it you know like some people might have watched it from other feeds but we should get the we should get the press conf or anything any news reports we got a few news clips from today what would you like to play first um the press conference yeah I think it was it's like 33 minutes yeah see what they have to say yeah let me get it once again I appreciate each and every one of you all for being here and uh putting the interest in getting this out to our public uh it's very tragic uh this is something that uh you know you don't foresee but uh but it has happened and I can kind of tell you the way that uh we're handling the situation as you can see we have many partners here in law enforcement the Kentucky State Police who just done a wonderful job uh with us uh they provided uh Manpower resources whatever uh doing a great job with us um we have our partners here County attorneys uh legal team Commonwealth attorneys and along with the uh London City uh police agency represented by the mayor Chief and U assistant chief FBI and ATF so uh with this group here surely we can get you some answers uh yesterday um as you all are aware I'm sure you went through we did have a shooter uh at the Exit 49 uh they have been five victims that's confirmed um I think they're all going to be um okay it's nothing I don't think we're going to have no fatalities just keep like I say when I open keep all them in your prayers uh I don't think there'll be no fatalities um uh but we uh we have got there was a shooter it appears that he was using AR-15 as the primary weapon weapon uh we have uh located uh evidence at the scene we know where the shots uh was fired from uh his location uh some cartridges a gun and a vehicle uh everyone that we have names that we've come in contact contact with has been interviewed and uh we have just uh we I just everyone together with a joint effort has done a just an outstanding in job with this and I'm so very proud of all of them U also want to give a special recognition to some people that are are law enforcement you know they they wear down but we uh we have more coming in and and uh the dispatchers at Laurel dispatch has done just been phenomenal they took the initial call uh they have uh stood with us they've took all the calls of course you know we got a lot of calls that we we see this guy here we see him here uh we have checked all those calls we do not know that he has left that area that's why we're concentrating on this Exit 49 we've had calls uh on all parts of the county we've had calls out of the county those have been followed up and none of that is so uh so what I'm going to do at this time I know the big question is what are we doing and the containment why are we at Exit 49 uh I have uh my lead investigator uh Detective uh Richard uh or Commander Richard Dal Ripple uh he's the lead investigator on this and also he's the uh uh the commander of s SRT team and at this time I'll let him come up and kind of explain what we're doing and the containment hopefully that will answer some questions and then after he speaks we'll open it up and uh if you guys have questions we'll try to get you answers thank you Sheriff so I'm going to address what we did up to tonight and and then I'll tell you the steps that we have taken this evening um yesterday when the shooting occurred the shooting occurred about 5:30 by the time we pinned down the vehicle and formed a pretty good theory of what happened it was close to dark uh that terrain at Exit 49 where we believe the shots had come from very unforgiving terrain not a safe place to put people in the dark searching for a needle in a hay stack so we put we formed a perimeter last night at Exit 49 we had a counter sniper team there all night long um we did not continue actively searching we just contained it last night we waited for daylight in order to uh approach it again and see if we could locate the actual crime scene um we went back this morning uh we took a tactical team up on the mountain and we located three different sites where there was evidence as the sheriff said we located uh where we are now certain that the shots were fired from um we have searched that area all day long um and at sometime this afternoon I don't know exactly what time we did it we have asked the KSP to step in and take over the Manhunt and run the Manhunt for us because we have uh exhausted the Personnel we had available to do it uh we will continue the criminal investigation throughout in conjunction with FBI ATF the city everyone here um but we at this point have turned the manh hunt over to the Kentucky State police and we will be assisting them moving forward in that regard that's it as far as the containment is concerned and I I would like to say you know to the residents you know I think a question is you know you guys quit at night what what's to say you know this guy is not moving on the ground at night well he may be you know last night we're not going to send deputies Troopers um FBI agents or whatever in walking through the woodc woods because we do know this guy is armed uh supposedly armed and that's why you know he could be sitting and you know we're not going to be sitting ducks in the woods but we did have uh snipers that was on point uh that stayed at scene all night last night uh looking at the ridge where the shots was fired from and I can guarantee you one thing we we're doing aggressive patrols I I spoke with uh uh the KSP uh public fires officer Scotty over here and he says you know they have like 20 units that's going to be in the area on patrol tonight uh the sheriff's office has Patrol units the city has Patrol units we've had numerous numerous outside agencies that's come in uh to tell us so when we say you know these uh efforts seiz at night it's just for the safety of those that's searching but still yet we have Patrol efforts going so at this time I will open it up and we will do our best to try to answer your questions Sheriff he may be watching this what is your message to him well my message would be you know that we would ask that he would give himself up uh and we're not going to quit until we do lay hands on it you know and we was really hoping maybe we wish that would have been last night we was hoping today uh we hope tonight we hope tomorrow but uh this effort is not going to stop uh we've already got uh all the um arrest warrants uh uh the Commonwealth Attorney here has uh has prepared that looked over that everything's in place so if we do lay hands on him that we U we will take him into custody so if he's watching uh it would be his best interest to uh you know surrender and uh turn himself in hopefully no no more harm to uh to no one else or to the residents or to our officers Sheriff you seem to believe pretty um uh fently that he is still armed I'm I'm curious I mean was there any evidence that you found a second caliber um round or something like that that would indicate that this individual is sparing no no we're we're going on what we've been told and like I say it's a it is open investigation I really can't elabor on elaborate on that but we have been told that as far as knowing we've not laid hands on him we've not recovered no other weapons uh that's just what we've been told that we're passing on to you can I ask what do what do you mean that's what you've been told we've been told by some outside sources that uh that he could be armed but we're not revealing that we don't know we cannot verify that like I said we've not laid eyes on him or contacted him we don't know but we have been told that's the way we're going to treat it you know but these are sources I'm sorry but these are sources outside of when you say outside sources sources outside of law enforcement yes do we know how he obtained the AR-15 firearm that he used and how many other weapons he made he obtained a firearm at a uh at a uh local place here in London but it was obtained you know legally he went through the ATF he went through all the proper paperwork and uh we have U we have the paper we have that paperwork copies of the receipts uh but that was obtained you know like uh you know if you're not a felon or something you know if you can go in you can fill the paperwork anyone can purchase the guns when was that that was yesterday around what time this evening did the active uh I think it was at um it was after dark right at the edge of dark but you know when they you say conclude you know it's like last night you know at dark we did conclude but uh KSP had Choppers up with fleers uh we had drones with fers you know um but it was right at dark today how big is the search area and how much has been searched I have somebody else will probably have to answer that it's huge and that area you know I know you guys have heard all day that uh it's just really really rough terrain a lot of cliffs uh mountains uh it it's really rough terrain is but uh I don't know anybody got a better there there's thousands of Acres I mean I can't tell you exactly how many there're just thousands of Acres yeah it's a big area very secluded it runs into the national forest also yeah a lot of national forest land how many people I would say 150 plus you know I mean I don't know if you can say actively searching we have a lot of Supervisors uh you know U that's there but going probably the ground crws I'd say it would be safe to say uh Captain 40 to 50 maybe on searches you know just just a rough estimate I can't give you an exact number but a large group what time will search start tomorrow uh probably 08 when you're meeting going to be meeting in the morning at 0800 and searches will start shortly after that what can you share about his background I'll have to let somebody else speak on that he's originally from the Knox Whitley County area and uh he's he does have a military background he served in the National Guard for at least four years and he was a member of the Engineer Battalion you guys mentioned that this area is large can can you describe the grain why is it so rugged I'll explain why last night was so if you are getting off at Exit 49 if you're coming Southbound on the interstate and you look to your right there's a cliff there okay and that Cliff has a ledge on the top and it has a ledge about 30 ft down he was on a Ledge about 30 ft down from the top of that Cliff where he fired from um and that's characteristic of that entire area back there so in order for me to find that this morning when we located that site I had to grab a tree and lean over and look so that's impossible to do in the night time without falling off a cliff so aside from exit 45 where you guys can't see any other areas I'm Master Trooper Scotty penck kenty State Police I'm the public affairs officer here at the London post um first I want to thank everybody up here the the sheriff's department City police ATF they have worked tremendously hard at this effort and this is why they've asked us to come in and help with the Manhunt there's no way that they can continue to do this and and and do it safely so we've we got 16 posts around the state police and we've requested troopers from several different posts to come in and help with this this man hunt um around 1600 hours tonight um Sheriff's requested the Kentucky State Police to come in and help with the man hunt we uh activated around 20 to 25 troopers from other post and our post and about an hour after that we went in and searched a a very when you say large area for walking in a jungle cuz that's what you're basically in it's a large area I mean you actually need machetes and everything to get through these thickets of woods and you know you can't do it very fast because you don't want to leave no Rock unturned and you don't know if he's in that area so you got to be very um slow paced at what you do so uh that's why we' brought in all the extra resources we will continue to stay in the area us the sheriff's department Rock Castle County Sheriff's department will be in this area area making sure the citizens of in that Community uh they feel some some kind of sense of security and safety um just just give us time and hopefully we can resolve this in a in a timely manner uh in a very quick manner I'm open for any other questions I hope I answered your question how concerned should residents be that there's this guy out there and he's most likely AR well I mean you need to lock your doors you need to uh if you have security cameras make sure you're constantly watching them um maybe keep your porch lights on uh have communication have your cell phone and make sure your phones are charged up because you never know when you might have to contact somebody or law enforcement and we want those tips like the sheriff said we want you to call us don't care if it's a county over if it's a a Dollar General Store you see somebody walking up down interstate we want you to call us and and we're going to answer those calls um no matter if it's a small Road it's a gravel road it's a creek bed it's the interstate we're going to have officers and Troopers and deputies in this area until morning breaks do we have any idea how um at this time I don't know that information U we have there's a lot of smarter people than me behind me and behind the scenes working on things to try to find those answers if he maybe he's in been in that area before and that's technology that that I don't know how to use but we have we have resources that are trying to help us with that know what his motive is yet I don't know what his motive is yet uh that part still under investigation by the sheriff's department to be clear however this was at random he was up there shooting at people at random I don't know why anybody would go up there and start shooting at people I don't I can't get in somebody's brain of why they do something this this crazy um but it's an act of violence and you know innocent people have got hurt and and property damage as well and you know for the people of Laurel County and rockcast County I know they're at fear and and hopefully you know we're going to put it to ease soon sir there's an array of agencies represented on this platform here I'm curious was was he on anyone's radar prior to this this incident not that I'm aware of but the sheriff might be able to answer that better than I can no but no no sir no have you spoken to his family at you have what can you share about that I have not directly spoken to that is part of the investigation that that at this time we can't discuss but that we have interviewed um family members um the sheriff's department has and they're doing a great job with it are you concerned that you don't have enough manpower to find this guy that's that's not my concern um I think we will have plenty of man par and you know the state police um work in conjunction with the sheriff's department you know they're they're getting a break they need a break when you're out there and you're away from your families it's it's it's hot it's cold you got a lot of motions going you're away from your own lbl ones um so sometimes you just need to step back go catch a couple hour sleep eat and and then get back in the fight and um we're going to take over and help them with that as long as they want us to changing your straty at all tomorrow well we have people that are a lot smarter than me that that do this stuff um pretty regularly and um you know we will continue to use helicopters and drones uh kin search teams we'll bring in fresh Troopers fresh officers from other agencies and we'll work uh together to to you know there's a lot of land out there you know he explained it earlier like a jungle it's also ATV trails there's Trails everywhere back in there where where um side besides and four-wheelers and trucks go and drive you mentioned he purchased this weapon yesterday uh what time is that sh if you had things to that I don't have the exact time we have it I don't have it with me it sometime yesterday morning so it was in the morning and then in the afternoon that's my understanding yes sir and was it just the weapon or was it ammo as well is the weapon and about a th000 rounds of ammunition most of which we have recovered you guys mentioned that you you guys need a break from searching how do you think he may be survived there we're still trying to ascertain how much preparation he put into this we searched his house this evening um we have a lot of stuff from that a lot of uh devices that were going to download that we're going to crack we're going to get more information um but we can't rule out the fact that he could have committed suicide back there and we have not found him yet going back to his military experience is there like an honorable discharge anything you can about that I don't have that information Long's out there are you worried about more lasting impacts like schools are already cancelling tomorrow as more time goes on he's not found what you know what could that look like for schools without having class the rest of the week I think at some point we got we're going to do everything we can do to catch this guy or find him um and the longer we continue and the more area we clear and the more places we are sure he is not the safer people are going to feel and I'm I'm confident eventually we'll figure it out and we'll find him but at this point we're doing everything we can to find him at this point you guys mentioned that that he may not have been on anyone's radar can you just give us some insight I think he did have some sort of even if it's a small criminal record can you share what his record with law enforcement looks like it's minimal my understanding right there yeah I I ran a Statewide criminal history on the date when it it's it's very minimal um I think there was a a dismissal or two a traffic ticket uh I think a domestic violence um within the last 6 months that right I'm not sure uh so I think there was a divorce action that was at some point also um there was nothing in his criminal history that that made me think oh we should have known this was coming uh it's just not there very minimal but there was a domestic I'm not mistaken I saw so it's kind of list as a decase if you're looking through court records um there was a decase it could have been a divorce and for some reason I wanted to think I saw some type of an emergency protective order at some point in time uh one thing that we would like to reiterate to the public in uh London and Laurel County as the sheriff has said is there's multiple agencies on the streets um not only the London city police the Laurel Sheriff's Department you may see the city police in the county you may see the the county in the city the state troopers throughout the the community and plus we have other agencies from like Williamsburg Jackson County that are assisting and helping Patrol um throughout the our this the normal Patrol in the in the county and in the city so uh while we ask people to be vigil Vigilant throughout their uh homes or or about their travels just rest assured too you have a lot of emergency services that are on the streets tonight and we'll be uh continuing tomorrow as as well uh as far as the schools we have been in talks with the superintendents in this area we will continue to update the school systems as we get it from the Laurel County Sheriff's Office uh and of course they they are their priority is to keep our children safe so uh it's going to be according to how the investigation goes leading in tonight and in tomorrow any other questions you know about how many rounds you [Applause] [Music] shot uh we know we have 12 Vehicles hit in multiple rounds in most of those vehicles and I know from the brass that I saw this morning 20 to 30 is my best guess but I didn't count them so that's about as good as I can do clarify 12 so yeah what you got to understand is we have the the the vehicles the people that were shot were traveling there was also Vehicles hit that were not no one was injured in and some of those Vehicles got all the way home before they realized they had a bullet hole in them so that number has climbed over the last 24 hours and we're at about 12 right now so 12 Vehicles hit by correct I also conf the number they injured because of maybe a car wreck with to seven is that I know of five victims I know nothing about a car wreck that was unrelated to the [Music] shooting you guys have anything uh my name is Michael stanbury I'm the special agent in charge for the FBI's Louisville Field office I just wanted to come up here and say for a minute that we we certainly know that the impact this is having on the community here in Laurel County that people are afraid right now they certainly have a right to be this thing doesn't happen every day and you know when someone's driving down the freeway and and then random shots start coming in it is terrifying but law enforcement the FBI the ATF and and everyone up here is doing everything they can to Once solve this investigation to make the case to prove that this individual is the one who in fact did this crime but also to make sure that we apprehend him and get him into custody and whether that is tomorrow or tonight tomorrow or next week we are not going to stop on this case until we do find him and and we take him into custody I will say that on the FBI's part what we are here for is to one assist the Laurel County Sheriff's Department with the investigation and two also assist the Kentucky State Police with the apprehension we have essentially four types of elements out right now first and foremost we have investigators we do have an office here in London with investigators them and along with our agents from the Lexington office have been down here and are working side by side with the Laurel County Sheriff's investigators conducting interviews collecting evidence and trying to work as diligently as they can to to solve this case we also have uh our evidence recovery team has been helping the sheriff's department at the crime scenes recover the evidence package it process it and assisting with the search warrants to make sure we can analyze that and get them everything they need to prosecute this case and then next we have a tactical component our special weapons and tactics team is out actually working with KSP to try and find this individual this does take specialized training special agents and Law Enforcement Officers with the skills and the equipment to Traverse this we just can't put any agent out there walking through the woods and and and safely trying to apprehend this in this individual so we are working hard with that and then finally our victim services division is working with the victims that are in the hospitals around the area working with them and their families trying to do everything we can to support them so we will be here and and until this case is until you know this individual is in in custody or he's found so with that is are there any questions y'all would have for me you listed him as a person of interest for quite some time today uh but I'm curious what what was the the the Lynch pin that kind of tipped this over to you know officially put him as a suspect I think the evidence that we recovered at the scene um pretty much locks that down uh I don't want to go into as a sheriff set of all the evidence that we've collected because there is a case that if we do catch this individual that you know the Commonwealth Attorney is going to have to Ute so we don't want to obviously try this case in the media but we do have solid evidence as the sheriff said his vehicle was at the scene a firearm that he purchased yesterday was at the scene I am confident that his fingerprints will be found on that firearm his DNA will be found on that firearm and there is other evidence from as the sheriff said Witnesses we've talked to about statements he's made and things he said so we we've got the evidence We Believe to you know to put forth that that he did this so we're pretty confident we have the right the right individual can you elaborate what do you mean statements that he to other people things he he has said to other people all I will say I I don't want to go into the detail of exactly what he said all I will say is statements he's made interviews people about his state of mind and what he wanted to do we have interviewed people we feel pretty confident that this is the individual do you feel like you're dealing with somebody who who is well to stay out in the woods for for a while is there is there any indication that you know he's an aid camper or or r i i i don't know that uh you know I know the information that we have I don't know that I would want to just give that all out here right now uh because one is I think you said earlier he could be watching this right now and we certainly don't want to tip our hand on everything um that we're doing in everything that we know about him do you think that he has communication class it's possible but I do not know at this time if he if he has one with him or not all right I'll try look over your sh thank you got anything you want to collaborate on I'm major Eric walker uh Kentucky State Police I just wanted to reassure everyone that Kentucky State Police at the request of sheriff root has undertaken the steps to move forward with the Manhunt portion of this in conjunction with other tactical resources that we have available through the state and our federal Partners uh we have a plan in place that we'll execute tomorrow uh not to rehash uh the citizens of the Commonwealth here in this local can be assured that State Police resources have been brought to bear uh there will be routine Patrols in the area and we have brought up uh ensured that we've got troops from other post areas brought into the area so there's adequate manpower to ensure safety in the community um any questions thank you let me clear something up I misspoke ear and I want to make sure you guys have the accurate information it was a condition of his bond not to have contact with a victim on a terroristic threatening charge uh that terroristic threatening charge was dismissed it was not a domestic violence order so I misspoke on that as soon as I Ste back I that I think I missed that so I want to clear that up there's no domestic violence order in his in his past that we can see in Kentucky there was a terroristic threatening charge that was dismissed in Knox County could you give us please say again your name please my name is Jackie steel I'm the com attorney for Laur and Knox County 27 Jal circuit but you learned about the threaten charge through his divorce proceedings no Take that take that part I know there was there's issues that they're talking to some people I don't I don't think they were married um that's when I stepped back I wanted to check again so uh I'm not I'm not going to speak as to to exactly the terrist threading charges underlying I don't know the facts to that um so I'm not going to speak to the facts to it I do know that was conditioned was Bond not any contact with the victim um and that's where I I misunderstood it and misspoke any other questions guys for me um that would have been the citizens of of Laurel County and the surrounding areas uh even this morning when we were at church we saw a uh state trooper in our parking lot there is a greatly increased law enforcement uh presence in in Laurel County uh as we speak presently uh I also have uh at the UK game I was at the UK game last night or yesterday afternoon and didn't get to jooy that game for a couple reasons but one was that that my phone started blowing up um and it is amazing the outpouring of support from different counties uh my fellow County attorneys Commonwealth attorneys elected officials I've had contact from kco officials who have offered support and wanted me to uh when I had a chance and I'll I'll take that chance right now to encourage our local law enforcement and to thank them for all that they do so I want to thank each and every one of you uh officers and elected officials for all you do in keeping Laurel County safe um I understand that that that people are afraid I get that um but there are no finer uh uh law enforcement officers and First Responders than there are here in Laurel County um and we and we do need to be vigilant we we need to be you need to be uh constantly on the lookout uh and and until this U passes but rest assured that that that everything that can be done is being done rest assured that once this individual is uh captured and taken into custody um that he will be prosecuted uh and and and I have utmost faith in our Commonwealth Attorney Jackie steel uh in our judicial system that that he will be brought to Justice and Justice will be served um um But please understand that that what they're talking about as a as a as a young man as as I was out in that area chrom Ridge area it is a vast uh area uh he he could be there for a long time if if he's still alive he could be there for a long time we don't know but I but I I have utmost confidence If he if he is in this area he will be found uh and brought to justice so um and and and I would also re at that if anybody has information please bring that information forward now no no tip is too small uh and please share that do you you don't know you that that tip may be uh the tip that conference um what do we have here Magnolia am I there so this is the um this is Google Earth this is the area in question and I think they said that they believe he fired the shots from a cliff right yeah right before the exit ramp there going Southbound so right so there will be the cliff right there behind the truck stop I think it's right I think it's that large P patch of woods right there before getting on the uh right at the exit ramp there um going Southbound so if you go southbound you're going Southbound so um it's in that Woods all that Woods area there so I think he went down past the truck stop there and parked down the side uh uh and then went up through the woods there up to the highway there to a cliff that overlooks I75 so just north of the truck stop there in that patch of Woods [Music] there somewhere in in right right some yeah I believe it's somewhere in there and someone correct me if me wrong but that's the way that I uh interpreted it and in order to get act I mean he pretty much said I mean the authority said you know you wouldn't be able to do this at night because it's just it would be slippery dangerous but just you know and he had he went down a cliff a little bit to do this but I do want to share that you know what they're saying though and here a a journalist by the name of Alina noes with h wave three news Louisville has corrected the record and said that yesterday they misspoke by saying that he had experience in the National Guard the National Guard the Kentucky National Guard says they have no record of him whatsoever in the National Guard so I think I think they misspoke when they said because they said today in this or in that what we just played that he was in the National Guard I don't believe he served in the National Guard yeah yeah I don't know they there was something else that first night too that they they said wrong but I can't remember what it was well I mean at the at at at the you know during the course of all this as you as you also heard the number of vehicles hit actually went up too I believe he served in the Army but I we didn't really hear Army have you heard Army out their mouth because the only thing I've seen at army is his self-proclaim that he served in the Army on his Facebook page that's the only thing I seen yeah I mean that was when this first happened um what was it Saturday it happened I remember one of the very first things we heard was Army about him so once they had identified him and wasn't it also said on the scanner Army was S I did hear it over the scanner but again like I hadn't heard it out of law enforcement's mouth yeah I haven't heard the only thing they said out of law enforcement's mouth was the National Guard but now you have a reporter today that tweeted out alen Oaks I don't know if you can show that tweet that she made but she tweeted out at 1:39 pm today and she says update Kentucky National Guard Pao Milt Spalding is correcting a statement made by law enforcement as to Joseph Couch's military experience balding says the suspect being salt in Laura County Joseph couch is not and was not a member of the Kentucky National Guard they have no record of him yeah no record so did he serve or did he not serve that is the question stolen Baylor you know sometimes these people try to say you know they they they they what we say Cole's play Cole's play a little bit the role lping cosplay yeah cosplay I don't even know what that is uh laring laring laring the role hey I'm I'm I'm Army I'm Army did he serve in the military or not did he serve in the military or not somebody said uh somebody said uh walls a vice president nominee walls another you know walls actually served it's just there's a question of whether he served overseas or not yeah so he was in this area generally right here I guess they how did he get away though like how posted in the chat um how did he get away in the first place and that's my question that's what I've been saying since this mag right there is is the road the for Street Road it's called this that's where they found his vehicle in in that dirt road behind right by the dirt road over there on the hill there yeah so they found his vehicle somewhere there relatively close to the interstate um and then he probably walked over you know I think it's closer I think it's closer towards the truck stop somewhere right yeah right there you could see the road that goes up yeah yeah someone yeah they found his vehicle and then he walked to the you know over to the cliff because they said the AR-15 was found closer to the interstate away from the car the vehicle yeah so my question is you f they find the gun and it why would he even leave his vehicle behind was he was was he just trying to get out of there I mean is this a ruse or did he generally left on foot and is now scouring around the terrain on foot well I think if he had left in the car and driven away he there would have been a much higher chance that he would be caught than to run off into the woods and hide somebody said if he had a fourwheeler stashed up there there's Trails for miles and somebody else emailed us saying that um they what she Misty emailed us and said um she lives just a few minutes from where the shots were fired and they have four-wheelers back in the woods all the time like it I guess it's very common these trails that you see everywhere people ride four-wheelers so yeah I wonder if he could have had something like that stash and one thing I noticed is a lot of creek beds and a lot of like rivers around there I'm just wondering if he's navigating through the creek beds but also folks like it's unclear like what he there's no description of them I mean pretty much they emphasize the reason they believe he's a suspect it's Common Sense vehicle found there his AR-15 was there and his prior statements and they wouldn't elaborate on the priv statement he made to people shows that they feel like he's the got mm but other than that no sightings no description of what he's wearing that we know of so we don't know like if he went there and you know maybe got spooked or had to rush out of there quickly with the AR15 but we don't know if he had plans to you know have some sort of tent on him or some sort of backpack on him with stuff in there I mean he needs food he needs food this is just so scary well it's a big big deal because you got an armed man still out there that shot at random people and they need to address this issue and you can't really just let it go and in a sense say at this point oh we're just going to wait till he comes out flushes himself out you know now earlier as we were on there was a chopper wasn't there a chopper that was uh headed from the um Kentucky State Police Headquarters in Frankfurt headed back down there but it vanished over there in Highbridge yeah there was a there was a chopper in the sky we saw it and I actually think it was the same one the other night that someone had said was had the thermal technology it was the uh 421 SP was the tail number of it and then it just vanished it's gone now but it was weird because it it it was in that River area in Highbridge in that River like there's like a rivered in there and it was just kind of scouring in that area in that rivered might be the Kentucky River which I thought was interesting like do they feel like he's outside this perimeter area now at this point and expand it up but that's quite a distance from 49 exit that's quite a distance yeah this is like new fear unlocked so folks for people coming in one thing we want to set the record I believe that image that's out there of a uh spotted on trail cam I believe it's fake right that's fake well I no I don't think that it's a that the picture itself is fake what they're saying is that it was taken on a trail in a different County that's nowhere near here is what they've said so let me pull this back up because Jennifer coff Neer posted the the picture and then she I think she might have deleted it though let see I'm also sending you a tweet of Magnolia um in reference to an aial footage of the actual terrain there which is just it's nothing and it it it it bumps up against the national forest there it's just so much I mean it this is this is like it's literally a needle in the hay stack yeah so there they said that the picture was taken in Casey County not Laurel County so I mean it's a trail cam photo it's not like a fake picture or anything but it's just not him and it's just not in this County if you could show that tweet of just showing that that picture of that big J yeah if you could blow that picture up any way you could make that picture I mean this is this is showing you this is a reporter and that's over the truck stop there just look look at that just look at that land right there that's what they're saying they're saying that that's the land around there the truck stops right there it's the 49 exit look at that that's very very dense it's so dense and just thick and rugged and and and you know other people on Twitter are posting in that area like Cades and different like like plits and I mean this is this is hard man you got you gotta keep in mind like this guy could be in a cave that's why he's not being detected and just hiding in somewhere yeah somebody said in the chat I bet he has a bunker in there or something or a stash car an ATV a motor little motor sco I you know like a like a little dirt bike or something I mean that's that's huge amount of land there that they have to navigate to and and they he said how many officers out there he said 150 about 150 maybe you need to maybe you need to up it to 300 I know with cavicante at one point in kavak the Escape prisoner they were like five to 600 Law Enforcement Officers out there Pennsylvania state troopers out out there in in in in local law enforcement I mean one 50 I mean it looks like to me this is the land is much much more dense than it was with calante looking for that escaped inmate yeah definitely you're gonna have to bump this man or I don't know what what what they're trying to do at this point of how they're going to do this but I'm looking at the flight radar there's no Choppers in the sky even with kabak con they had Choppers in the sky in that area like continuously where are the Choppers like where where are the Choppers yeah I don't know I mean from the very beginning this this whole thing is just so bizarre um you had first of all all throughout Saturday night number one the local media when they were putting out their reports their articles the entirety of their articles was like a paragraph or something for like the whole night and then um then you had mayor of London the one who was doing updates from his kitchen that he was posting on Facebook like those were the only updates that were coming out the only you know there was no local media out there at all and I I don't know if they if they're there now or not but um it's just odd this whole thing is just odd and then and then his mother remember you tried to call the mother she hung up on you and then she goes on Facebook and she's like yelling at everyone on Facebook as if it's their fault her son did this and um or we don't know the truth or something like that you like and then finally well yeah she was like trying to downplay his charges like he was charged with terroristic threats and she was trying to downplay it and say oh well he was only threatening to kill a dog it's no big deal it's like what no lady it's a big deal your son's a domestic terrorist I mean the way they're describing what he did is pretty much parked on on that road and walked over to a cliff area and had to navigate down a cliff of a cliff and between a cliff and then targeted vehicles I mean come on that's premeditated all the way with a domestic terrorist well it's not even just that act the the shooting itself that's only part of it because now here we are on Monday and you have all these counties with their schools closed you still have people in fear right that's terrorism he's terrorizing an entire area and it's still going on until he's caught so I feel if they catch him he should be charged with domestic terrorism well they got the FBI involved you heard the FBI I mean uh it could be a turned into a Federal indictment yeah it's the whole thing is just so bizarre this guy here new channel three how accurate is News Channel 3 yeah see brown ey butterfly said that she lives 10 minutes from the 49er truck stop and she had to find the info on YouTube because no local media was putting anything out yeah it was the whole night we were covering this um it kind of it it happened what time did it happen like it started breaking news like around 6:00 p.m is somewhere in there and we were on all night and until late and the whole time we were covering it there were no local media report but In fairness In fairness to that Magnolia I said you know they had 18 mil stretch shut off and there was reports of media like farther away at the beginning of the roadblock or whatever like that making reports maybe they just couldn't get to the scene because you have 909 blocked off and 25 blocked off and you have an interstate that's been shut down for three hours the interstate was shut down for three hours I can't imagine how far there was a backup yeah I understand that but what I'm saying is yeah I totally understand that they may not have been able to actually get there physically but could articles even their articles were like one paragraph a whole night like what are we doing here and we're just like scouring around trying to get information and we were watching the flight radar all night but even even these these these local Medias even Outlets even from Lexington or Louisville they should have got a chopper up in the sky to see what's up right if they even have Choppers in those type of uh communities I don't know news Choppers I think they right so this is uh someone tweeted out News Channel 3 I don't know how accurate they are it looks like you know they're not a big Channel but they're they they said this is the some of the land police are searching for and it kind of gives you a perspective I don't know if you can click on each picture magnolian it might blow it up but this is what this is what they're talking about like caves and Rocky Cliffs area you know anywhere where somebody could like you know hide or or or unker down in that general area and and they said that at that press conference so I mean you got you got you got you got a ration of food or whatever like that some water on you you could you could you could hunker down for a while you know I would I I would assume uh somebody in the chat said this man is far from being Rambo yeah I kind of I have to agree I think um I think a lot of times in these situations these people get a little bit too much credit um they're like you know all they're saying that he's an expert this and expert that and he can evade and he can do this but I mean maybe so maybe he had training and and things like that but at the end of the day he he's not Einstein no one with no one with intelligence does something that he did first of all he news Nation came out if you want want to play this uh four minute clip they're talking to from a talking with a US Marshal former US Marshall who says no doubt he's out there arm yeah let me see we we we'll play this because uh yeah this is a former Le former uh US Marshall and I think Marshalls would probably be out there too FBI at least federal agents they are they are the US Marshals ATF FBI um who else did they say I think they even said Homeland Security maybe I mean it's it's multiple agencies it's a lot there's a lot they listed them off in one of the announcements sat late Saturday night and it was whole bunch let's see radio I'm former US Marshall and retired Deputy Chief of the El Paso Police Department Robert elonte is joining us Welcome Back Sir this is a scary situation already he is accused of shooting five people more could have been injured how much does his military background his time served in the National Guard factor into finding him in the threat he poses well the the experience or background being a National Guard actually plays in plays a big factor in these uh law enforcement agencies going after him and trying to apprehend him uh no doubt he has experience handling uh weapons and um in all probability he probably still is armed and he purchased a lot of ammunition I know an AR15 was recovered there but there's no doubt in my mind he's going to be armed and he's extremely dangerous so he's got the uh uh he's trained by the military as far as Weapons as far as tracking as far as hiding camouflaging things of that nature uh so law enforcement does have a challenge but there's no doubt in my mind they're going to apprehend him right now they got a perimeter secure and um they they feel pretty confident that he's within that perimeter so it's just a matter of sending in um uh these large number of law enforcement officers and and can9 to track him down and and arrest him and not get him to flush out and arrest him as he's trying to make an exit from that area yeah I mean part of the concern is now he's he's been gone three days and as more time passes it becomes more dire he becomes more desperate which is why you heard local police send out that warning to to check your cameras stay alert um be careful on your properties um how much more difficult does it become as as investigators add days and days to his disappearance and trying to locate them in protecting the public and their safety right now well it becomes more difficult uh but again I think the advantage that we have law enforcement has is they have them in a perimeter they have them contained within a perimeter so that's good news as far as of Public Safety uh however with each day that goes on this guy becomes more and more desperate that's uh in the way it is right now that's actually a bigger concern for law enforcement uh where he may try to kill law enforcement officers and then maybe eventually taking his own life how important are his social media his digital footprint and any evidence there and also communicating with his family if he's in touch with anybody he knows in this process well it's extremely important and and uh you know as soon as they identified him as a suspect they law enforcement jumped on his social media activity finding out what he's doing they reached out to his family to his associates to his contact uh they're trying to learn more or they actually have learned a lot about this guy by going through his social media activity your experience in law enforcement um how how do you determine a motive for something like this I mean this is not the first time we've seen these Highway shootings they've turned deadly I mean is recently is um the last couple of weeks there were there was a shooting in Washington state on I5 why do people do this well the to be perfectly honest with you they're cowards that's the first thing that happened they're they're cowards for somebody to to do something like this uh such a cowardly uh act and people say they have U uh mental problems mental issues uh I'm not an expert in that field uh but I you know had to wonder because this guy planned it it wasn't that he just grabbed the gun went out there and started shooting he planned it he bought the weapon he bought the ammunition he specifically uh found his location where he was going to set up to shoot these vehicles so it's not like he would be crazy or anything like that but just cowardly acting I think a lot of this may be some copycat going on yeah well let's hope they find him um as soon as possible Robert as always thanks for I mean they're saying they did but I don't as far as officials but they could have misspoke by saying that because a reporter said the Kentucky National Guard has no record of him whatsoever but this area here it's like whoa thoughts mag here we go yeah uh oh Rabbit Hole said anyone ever play goo caching yes I used to do that actually okay yeah this is uh it's pretty overwhelming to look at it from this perspective but you know they do keep saying that they have a certain perimeter contained where they feel like he is there I don't get that I don't I just don't get it with cavicante they had said they had him contained and they didn't yeah like he got away he slipped originally was in the South part of Chester County and it got out of there and then went to the north part of Chester County after stealing a vehicle I know every time every time they say that they have the area contained um it reminds me every single time of cavicante because they said that repeatedly yeah having him contained makes no sense how can you have somebody contained when it's so look at the terrain there you that means you would have to have every you would have to have them boxed in and I I just don't buy that considering that I'm looking now this was a this was a video that they posted just a few minutes ago but there's no Choppers in the sky so how can you sit there and say you got this guy contained you're you're I I think those are very poor uh uh Choice words right there yeah my opinion I mean maybe they do maybe they feel like maybe they know something they don't want to tell us yeah I think that a lot of that stuff they say is meant to calm the Public's nerves and you know not have people in hysterics but it's it's hard to imag I mean they're like we have the area contained we have the area contained contained within thousands of Acres what area yeah someone said contained within hundreds of Acres you know like come on man yeah we have you contained look we know where you're at but now we're on day three schools are closed but we have you contained h i i do wonder if he's still alive though that's uh that's thank you Janine that's nice so former US Marshall that news Nation interviewed said that they believe he is AR or he says he's no doubt that he's AR Eman fishing said he is contained to the planet he's contained to planet Earth but I'm I'm scouring around like local media outlets and yeah we got some national media that talked about this but we don't have uh local media there like that yeah I really don't understand I don't get it I know that a lot of Kentucky is rural small towns things like that but you have Louisville Knoxville there are major areas there that would have media Step Up Kentucky Step Up how far is it from Nashville let me see somebody said we don't claim Louisville I was in I I was in Louisville one year um doing a assignment and it was the week before the K the Kentucky dirt I I thought that I thought Louisville was a cute little town very very I mean Kentucky is beautiful though it's about 70 miles south of Lexington but you are it it it's it borders because to the like all that land you see there that's basically the Daniel Boon National Forest it bumps into the Daniel Boon national forest and this Forest can take you all the way down just the amount of forest there can take down to the Tennessee border to get from from that area we'll just go to that area to get to that area to the Tennessee Border I just want to see how how many miles it is because you could literally go down that national forest all the way down to uh we'll just do uh Jellico right I want to do Jellico I want to do uh this area to Jellico so just give me a second before I navigate this to try to get some distances to jelo Tennessee which would be the border from this area is literally 45 miles it's about 50 miles away from the Tennessee because it's it's a narrow stretch that's just west of London and it literally goes down from this shooting area all the way down to Tennessee is all this [Music] but it doesn't go that wide though because if you go like a little bit onto the other side you have like places in Kentucky named Somerset and everything like that and it it's land that opens back up not as what you see here so my point is he has an narrow stretch the narrow you know like navigate through I just you're gonna have to like law enforcement's gonna have to be like on these back roads like perched in different locations just in case he pops up out of the woods I'm just thinking how are you going to find this guy someone explain to me how you're gonna find him well I think it's gonna have to be the same way they ultimately got danello it's gonna have to be with the techn the thermal technology that picks up a heat signature well gelo got caught more or less because you know they knew he was there based off the breaking into the and stealing the gun and and he being spotted in people's properties in that area but so far we haven't heard of any sighting yeah and that kind of for I know a lot of people believe that he probably killed himself at some point and the fact that he has not been cited at all kind of goes to that theory yeah but but here's here's here's what I'm saying is if there's no sightings when do you get to the point where you scale down the search and just say I mean is that Reckless to do and just say well we'll just wait to see if he acts again or pops up it again because if this guy did this and they don't understand just to say he won't do it again and if if he does it again based off you scaling back to the search I think that's bad like what do you do like you have to find a balance here to figure this out like I I like what do you do at this point well I think we're not even 48 hours into this yet though so I mean it seems like a long time but this just happened in the early evening Saturday and now today's Monday right uh so we're not even we're about 45 hours into this right now if he didn't kill himself he's alive and what I'm saying is like like I'm saying he what I'm what I mean by that is like some people say well you suc succumb to the woods if you know you die in the woods because you die of hunger and everything like that or M you know dehydration or something you know what I mean not but I mean no after 40 45 hours no I don't think so I think he's still alive unless they can think and share something like if he provided like maybe maybe he left some sort of suicide note somewhere or something and told somebody he's going to off himself or something like that you got to take it as if he's alive now because remember we covered the Aaron a Aaron Pennington case yes he he killed his wife and then fled up into the forest into the woods y north of his house and they never found him they found his abandoned vehicle but they never found him and they were searching for him for like what about a week yeah they didn't search very long it was very very upsetting and disappointing that they gave up so soon in my opinion and then you got you know you give up but I mean it because remember we went there and we were we where were we right before I think it was uh was it Charlotte CNA that we were covering up there around that time and then we main mass shooting the main yeah so we were up there for that and then we went to that area Massachusetts where the Penningtons lived and we went to that Park and remember we were expecting to see like a massive search effort and lots of activity that's what we were expecting and then when we got there it was like crickets there there was hardly anyone there there was the local police there and they were searching that Lake Area they on the side of road but I wouldn't say more than that we saw more than 20 law enforcement and there was zero sense of urgency and this was only like a week into it only like a week after he um killed his wife it was weird and yeah they just gave up they just gave up and that was that but he's still never been found we don't even know if he's a lot but in In fairness no other crimes were committed by him after that but with this situation I think this is more urgency because this guy just you know with Aaron Pennington it was like a domestic issue be between him and his wife right yeah horrible horrible but in this situation this this dude with an AR-15 Parks his vehicle thinks he's Rambo and goes down on a cliff and shoots down on innocent people EXE D I mean regardless if they found you know they feel they're not saying whether they feel like he has additional weapons is there any other weapons out there in his name has he purchased any other weapons that they haven't that they can't find maybe they should answer that question has he made purchases for other weapons besides the one purchased the morning of the shooting does he have we yeah Samantha we we gathered that she said the media there doesn't do a very good job yeah it's been it's been uh very unimpressive to say the least not a peep from his mom I don't see her posting anything on social media matter of fact profile I think is a little bit uh V somebody said he could have caught a train out of there where's the train you know what I think I rode the train one time through Kentucky now that I think about it there's train tracks I know in the scanner they were talking about train tracks there you could be navigating the tracks is there any type of these like uh trains that go through just with uh not you know jump a train all right so Kentucky State Police just tweeted out let's go to their page they're still actively on this Bo so they said Trooper Scotty Pennington will provide a briefing at 3M and we'll live stream it from his Facebook page so we'll have that pulled up yeah we're gonna we're plan and ready to go I mean I appreciate them putting stuff out at least you know yeah I think they're doing a good job they I feel like they got off to a little bit of a slow start uh in the first 12 hours or so but they I feel like you know because like I said before for the first 12 hours or so we were just listening to this random mayor make videos in his kitchen um and one of them he even deleted because he got so much backlash for it but I think that appropriately law enforcement took over Communications yesterday morning and they've been giving regular updates yeah they have but the first night was like what's going going on here a break I think by finding its vehicle before it got dark yeah you can tell how high this Cliff is right here with this Google Earth image yeah it's well yeah it's it it's over how high it Towers above everything yep Pennington put out on his Facebook also um for Scott Pennington uh put out on the Facebook page too himself that that just that terrain we're gonna get an understanding folks of what's going on wa this um I playing that two and a half minute clip magia we'll put another schools are also closed this morning but for a much different reason Kentucky State Police are leading the man hunt for this man 32-year-old Joseph couch police say he opened fire on a stretch of I75 Saturday just north of London Kentucky near Exit 49 five people were injured as we enter the third day in the search for couch WHAS 111's Alexander Goldberg and photojournalist Aspen Hester report from Laurel County as another day closes in London Kentucky day two of a man hunt comes to an end 32-year-old suspect Joseph couch is still on the Run really hoping maybe we wish that would have been last night we was hoping today uh we hope tonight we hope tomorrow but uh this effort is not going to stop authorities say couch is the suspected shooter for an attack on Saturday with five victims suffering gunshot wounds as this continues it becomes more stressful for the community it becomes more stressful for the officers that are there because we're looking we're looking and we're trying to find him and it happened on I75 near Exit 49 a densely wooded for Deputy Gilbert ACC cardio the spokesperson for the Laurel County Sheriff's Office says they believe couch fled on foot and is still hiding in the area we're going to continue to C contain the area we're going to continue to have people in the woods we're uh not actively searching of course but in uh strategic positions to observe authorities say they found a vehicle registered in his name in an ar5 near the site of the shooting deputies also found multiple charged magazines in the car authorities said the weapon was purchased on the same day as the shooting Christina denoto was in one of the cars caught in the gunfire we were driving in on I75 in the Middle Lane and all of a sudden we just heard this loud deafening sound um and my ear my right ear started ringing authorities don't yet have a motive of the shooting the London mayor Randall wed has a message to the community stay home let the First Responders do their jobs uh and also don't take the things into your own hands we have trained professionals from the Sheriff's Office City police State Police FBI all the agencies involved these guys are trained let them deal with it in London Alexander Goldberg wh1 on your side authorities are urging you to stay away from that area because they believe the suspect is armed and dangerous now they're also asking for anyone with tips to call Laurel County at 66878 7,000 and of course to stay up to date on the latest and so we saw Z there day three of the man hunt magnon jaay investigate uh very shortly um next 15 minutes we'll get a update press conference Magnolia what was this um you about the scanner traffic taken about a male suspect what is what is what is that about um that was a a comment someone posted in the chat earlier um I'm not sure if anyone else has heard this or not but David Kerr said scanner traffic is saying that a male suspect has forced entry into a home and barricaded himself armed with a handgun police and Route it's a hostage situation so I don't know if anyone else heard that or not um we're gonna look into that but I'm looking on the um you know the flight radar I don't see any type of police helicop you think if that's a situation helicopter right [Music] [Music] okay so this this right here I'm G send this to you put this up on screen check this right here thec press confence [Music] so what we got outside there was activity as update could that be situation what we just heard about situation um I don't know but your your audio is breaking up for some outside the the Laurel County Sheriff's Office in Kentucky where there was activity as law enforcement prepared to provide an update at 3M on the ongoing search for Joseph couch who's suspected of being involved in the shooting incident my audio okay yeah I think it's okay what's this take about some sort of activ oh no it's not no it's not going out and come back in all right yeah sometimes when sometimes when you play um like videos or whatever on here it can interfere with the sound for all right here he is all right is that better uh so far yeah devil doll I have no idea if he's alive or not I really don't know what to think to be honest with you think something's going on but what that is I don't know yeah I mean if he so someone said someone had said they heard about possibly a hostage barricade situation breaking into a house if that's the case then that means he doesn't have the supplies he needs because the only reason he would do something like that is because he needs certain supplies like food maybe um and possibly he ran out of stuff maybe that he took with him so I think if he's breaking into houses then that would be the reason yeah I'm looking I hope it's true I hope it's true that he's desperate and doing things like that because that'll make them that'll make it easier for him to get caught well that's a situ then they would definitely have the guy contain yeah and it never ends well in that situation someone's barricaded in it would end well um so this location where they're going to have this press conference is at the Laurel County Sheriff's Office where is that even located is that in London and another thing is too is why is the mayor keep speaking when it's not really his jurisdiction well that was that was my question in the first place because he's the mayor of London which is like eight miles away and as far as we know London is not directly related to any of this so that's why I was like why is this random mayor the one out here giving updates I understand it's his area but they didn't have a state police a pi a sheriff somebody else who could come out and give statements it had to be him and his kitchen it was so weird so Hannah Hannah Ken said that she heard that on the scanner and the followup sounded like it was more of a domestic call with a guy off his meds not related to Joseph couch so yeah we also have time that the scanner there's going to be other in incidents because you know life goes on in in a county and you know County on a regular basis has all types of things going on yeah April everything about this is weird you're right eight minutes to the press conference folks so we're just gonna wait and and and and get this in to see what exactly is said uh what can they provide us any additional information Clues about the situation come on in jlr and Magnolia investigates yeah I mean I I think one thing about the mayor of London doing all the Talking Saturday night it just kind of illustrates the small town aspect here this you know this is rural small town small town mentality so yeah Wes said London is a small town Mayors have power in the county and vice versa in small towns like London yeah I mean and it just kind of really highlighted the fact that this is small town mindset small town quiet they're not used to something like this um they're not used to having to to put helicopters in the sky to do their news coverage you know what I mean so um I think in one respect it kind of set the tone for everything when you see this random mayor in his kitchen on Facebook it's like like wow they they're definitely not in Kansas anymore well they also never been rocked with anything like this I yeah I mean there's I'm sure there's been manhunts and things like that but something like this is just hard to even fathom nothing on flight radar so no no helicopters just some medical ones up in the air right now uh we'll actually yeah we got a look go flight radar minute we got a Kentucky State Police uh Chopper right uh in by East burnstad up in the sky we have a chopper up in the sky pretty close to the scene what in the world's going on here right over those uh that Lake just south of where this incident happened we could zoom in Magnolia it's on Uh Wood Creek Lake we have a we have a chopper back up in the air that's the same one we were watch watching all night Saturday well one of them that was the main one we were watching Saturday all right so we got it it's interesting right before the press conference they put a chopper up in the sky now it vanished huh it vanished they're hiding from you no they had a chopper up in the sky and it just vanished right over Wood Creek Lake is that because it goes below the radar well yeah but remember I told you that uh someone on I saw someone on Twitter saying that a lot of times they do this to hide their location they kind of try to go stealth yeah interesting it was right there and then right when we put it on it went blank huh what are you up to what what do you think they're up to let's see if it pops back up uh we got four minutes to press conference scheduled press conference folks uh we're monitoring the Facebook page of Trooper Scott Pennington Pennington was on that last uh press conference he might be more of like a Pio maybe yeah public uh in public affairs officer all quiet in the sky in Kentucky around that area I mean you got regular airplanes flying through normal route one is flying through the area right now MCO uh from Orlando to South B Indiana 40,000 feet I want to know a little bit about that Chopper and also would they uh they gon to correct and and and say for sure he served in the uh National Guard or not another thing I'm curious about some people are reporting that right before he did this he said he's uh he texted his um ex-wife that I'm gon K LL a lot of people and then said he was going to do a F to himself afterwards we are uh ready to listen to a press conference here to get new information come on in jlr and Magnolia investigates yeah blow it back up yeah here we go all right so we'll hear what they have to say stand by folks as we get say though is NBC News is reporting that arrest warrants are out but he actually texted his wife beforehand and said he was going to do this according to the report and what the report is saying it's saying fugitive suspect accused of opening fire near Kentucky Highway had sent text message saying I'm going to k i l l a lot of people the search for Joseph couch entered its third day Monday following the shooting of Interstate 75 on Sunday evening or Saturday evening [Music] can you guys hear uh give me a mic check here I I don't something we we're having serious technical difficulties thank you all for coming out today this is a tragedy that has happened in the edge of LW County and Rockcastle County and hopefully we can get some resolution to this quickly and in a timely manner I know the citizens of our community in both Rock Castle and La counties are are are stressed to the Max and and law enforcement is working tiously to bring this to a a calm and an ease for them so I'm just going to give you some Minor Details of what's going on um that we've been doing since late last night and a little bit into uh the um trying to locate the subject um this is going on 48 hours 48 hours uh it happened around the 49 mile marker on I75 the search for Joseph couch of Woodbine remains we would like to thank our uh Partners uh with the FBI the ATF local law enforcement fish and wildlife um the forestry service and London city police and the law County Sheriff's Department that is very am mute to the people that are involved with this uh we have Rock Castle County Sheriff's Office we have other police department agencies that have came and volunteered their time and their expertise to help with this Jackson County Sheriff's Office um so it's just not the Kentucky State Police it's just not the Sheriff's Office our federal Partners there are so many people and and it's you all you is being the news people that is uh reaching out and I apologize to you all I can't answer every fault every call every email um that's why we've done this at one location at one time um just the the amount of calls and emails that I've got there's no way I can answer so I apologize to you all but thank you all for getting out as much information as you can and correct information um this man hunt has become a a methodical effort uh simar like a hide and seek we're focused on protecting the residents and their homes and the businesses during this crial time our goal is to apply steady pressure and wearing Mr couch down uh the longer he is in the woods you know late last night it had got pretty chilly and today it's got kind of humid and hot uh hopefully he has no water and nothing to eat and just time that we will wear him down and putting pressure on him with constant steady uh our our our helicopters flying over drones flying over uh dogs SRT in in the uh in the woods look um cars running up down the interstate just things like that is putting pressure on him and and hopefully he's he'll eventually just walk out of the woods and give himself up that's what we hope will happen in this scenario um we've utilized all kinds of technology and searching like I said we use helicopters we use drones Special Response teams not just from the Kentucky State Police we've had the law County Sheriff's Department their Special Response Team we've had the FBI we've had the ATF um we've had numerous uh local and small agencies that's volunteered their Special Response people to come and also assist in this and and clearly if we continue to work together hopefully we'll come out with a good resolution in this um this is a constant communication effort so people you know ask why ain't we just going in there you know if you've followed my Facebook in the last hour or so we have gave you a photograph of the area it's not like going over to this business and looking for somebody in there it's not like going to a football field and trying to find somebody behind the bleachers we are in the Daniel bu National Force and this is thousands and thousands of acres and I stated last night it's kind of like a jungle well it is like a jungle and we have Cliff beds we have sinko we have caves we had Curts that go under the interstate we have reek creeks and rivers uh and the dense brush I mean it's not something I can just take my dog for an actual walk through this there are paths but when we're looking for somebody we have to go through those dense areas we have we got to go and make sure no rock is unturned to find not just him but find evidence and when you do these things with all the people involved you got to have communication so there's not a direct line at when you first get there even maybe the first day that the FBI can talk to the state police the state police can talk to the Sheriff's Department we have to tie those networks together and go out and do grid searches find certain areas that you're going to go and not track in behind each other and also you got to know who's to your left and to your right and and make sure they're safe and uh you go very slowly because not just you're looking for him you're looking for evidence you're looking and and yesterday we was able to obtain some evidence that the sheriff's departments is working on their investigating side of it and I'll explain that a lot of people's kind of confused he what's the state police's role what's the FBI's role the sheriff's department the sheriff's department is working the criminal investigation part of this that means there was a active shooter on the interstate that that harmed people they shot people they will be presenting this case to the Commonwealth Attorney uh here in law County and if for some reason the feds think there's a federal charge or they believe it to be a federal charge they can step in and help the LA County Sheriff's Department with that the State Police along with the FBI the sheriff's department we have asked to step in to help with the apprehension and Manhunt of Mr couch uh that means we're boots on the ground right now they they initially got the complaint and they have worked tirelessly out there but they got to have a break they got to be able to go investigate they got to be able to go get search warrants they got to be able to go home and see their family and get a night of rest so they think straightly and and that's why we utilize Kentucky State Police we have 16 posts I said last night we have resources and we have a Kentucky State commissioner that is amazing he is going to get us the resources here in LA county to continue to look for Mr couch uh tirle and sometimes these investigations we we hope that he's still in that area we hope that we've got him contained but we all know they don't always in that way so we're going to continue if our search gets broader it gets wider it leads to more miles you know we're going to go every day and try to find him we've got him entered in ncic that means if he's not in this area and he's walking down the road and some Deputy in Madison County or Whitley County or even in Tennessee gets out with him and you know sees some guy that's just wore down and fits the description you know hopefully they'll use caution we've sent all the intelligence out to them other agencies so when they do see him they say this guy fits the description they can use caution they can run him and and maybe that that's that's how we find him uh you know we hope he's still there but he might not be and uh but we're going to take all the leads we're going to we want the citizens to call in on everything if you see something that looks strange in your area where you live out if you come home and your your doors don't seem like that's how you left it you know back out and call somebody if uh if you're at home don't be alone always have your cell phone have a phone assessible with you check on your neighbors check on your elderly neighbors make sure that that that you've heard from them uh be a good neighbor and and and just check on them call them say I was just checking on you make sure everything's okay because in the Rock Castle area where we do have residents uh there's a lot of homemade like where people live there that come in from areas to Camp so maybe they don't have phones in in those in those little buildings or Shack or camp so if people of Rock Castle that know these people reach out and talk to them just say hey just checking on you didn't want to get in your business just want to check on you if you hear your dogs you know making you know barking late at night you know call check your phones if you have that technology to see if somebody's on a deer camera or uh your cameras your ring cameras you know when you go before you go home just scroll through it make sure if you you see something that don't look kind of looks weird somebody walk through your yard it could be nothing but it could be something and it could give us a lead to just drive down there and and like I said he could turn himself in or it could it could get worse and hopefully it does it um but dealing with communication like I said earlier everybody on the ground is communicating has got to be able to talk to the helicopters helicopters got to be able to see them and put eyes on them because if you if you helicopter sees them but he can't tell the person on the ground what he's looking for it's kind of useless and then we have to relate that stuff back to our Command Post which relates it to post and it it kind of goes in every direction we get people heading that way so communication is Big it's big and it's got to be the right communication and that's why these things take so long um our priority is the safety of everyone involved we are committed to make sure that there is no harm to anybody in the community and also to our First Responders on the ground our job is to make sure everyone of our people that's in a uniform goes home to their family and that's our first party and if we have to go slow and like a snail that's what we're going to do because we do not want anybody in our line of work or anybody in this community to be harmed um like I said earlier Mr couch is entered in ncic um we encourage any tips to come uh please call us please call us um um I guess I will leave oh I will clarify some things for y all that was kind of early in the investigation um about his military service he was in the military but it was not the Army uh National Guard it was the Army Reserves so um he he's been discharged with an armal discharge um so I want to clarify that um so I can open up up the floor for questions for me or anybody in behind me have you seen any evidence today that he is still in the woods and still alive so we still have people I'm GNA look this way sir I'm sorry we still have people in the area and we will remain in the area until we can't find him this is very slow and you got to look the temperature has got up a little bit today so our people are constantly they're searching areas they're searching grids um you know ATV four-wheelers um and you got to think it's hunting SC people still out there hunting so we encourage people in the community if you're going to be hunting please don't be out at chromers Ridge in Livingston area please stay away from that area for a couple days until we come to resolve and and and people out in the community don't don't have somebody that I'm want to save the world I'm G to go out and go find him myself because not only could could uh you get harmed you could get killed and and we don't want that to happen and so as of this time we have not the evidence has not come that we have located him but it's very slow it's a very slow process any any update on the victims you know that's been a little confusing in the early stages of this still five hit by bullets on the highway car crash I understand or what can you tell us about the victim so that that would be part of the Sheriff's Department's investigation and I apologize for that I know bits and pieces but not everything and how many vehicles have been hit hit car wrecks I don't know that we're here to to find Mr couch and that's that's that's our primary focus now if we get information that helps the sheriff's department we're going to share that information vice versa they're sharing information with us it's vast I mean it's it's moving you know people's like oh you ain't getting information trust me we're getting information so much it's overload sometimes who's SS and what's the relationship to suspect I apologize I I the first time I've ever heard that name I didn't I didn't get the search warrants the sheriff's department I'm sorry yeah is there any evidence you seen any evidence that there was anybody involved in helping this guy other than him at this time you know that that's part of the investigation um personally I haven't and I don't know if the Kentucky State Police has uh our job is just to try to locate this it's something you might be able to ask uh another representative behind me but um today is US finding this Mr couch I'm looking dets here it seems yes sir can you help what point be well um we're gonna we're gonna keep going I mean we it will probably expand and and that's just the job we we signed up for we're going to go as far as we can go until something leads us somewhere else and uh you know this this ain't something we're going to pack up and go home because the citizens of of LA county and citizens of Commonwealth for rockastle County they expect that out of us um and and this is not easy it's tiresome you know and and and let me also say this you know crime just isn't happening in LA county today it's happening everywhere so you know the sheriff's department of Kentucky State Police we have to answer calls in other communities even in this County and so we're going to continue to answer those calls don't don't hesitate to call us because you think you're bothering us because we're doing this that's why we got resources that you know surrounding postes like harand Hazard Madison Columbia we're going to continue to answer those calls we are um and that's a great question you know schools that would probably be a question for their leadership but they're going to contact us and the sheriff's department ask us our opinions and their first priority is the safety of their children uh and their staff and their employees and whatever they decide we'll back them 100% our job is to find this guy and bring this to an end and so they can get back to going to school playing sports and and just being at calm and ease you advising them to stay close sir you know if you're advising them to stay close at this time it's up to the the superintendent you know every school district when it snows you know one school right down the road might not close but another one might so I can't tell them what they need to do they'll make their own judgments they will contact us and ask us our opinions and and we appreciate those opinions um but you know they have to do what they think safe for their Community their kids and their their employees new that y'all are trying today listen the we love technology and we love people coming in to help and there's numerous resources these gentlemen behind me with the ATF and the FBI and you know they might be a training out there that maybe some of us don't even know about the technology we have people that are Professionals in computer software who give us the terrain you know I gave you photos of it and and you look you're like oh that's just that's just the woods until you get out there there's more to it just the woods sinko um caves uh you know there's animals out there there's snakes there's all kinds of stuff so you got to use caution and uh and usually that technology that they're giv us is helped out especially if we have like late last night we took Troopers in I think around 25 Troopers went in and done a a grid search you know it was starting to get dark and you got to protect those Troopers you can't have them just because you got a flashlight doesn't mean you can see everything around you so you got to protect those Troopers and tell them the areas that they're going yes sir thank you at this time I do not know that I apologize that's a great question but I do not know that answer this time do what sir that is a part of the criminal investigation but that's pretty common we've not left no stone on turn and that's probably a St a stone that we have looked into yes sir this guy some sort of survival training or is he just a regular you know he's been in the military just because you're in the military don't mean you're you know professional um survivalist um talking about maybe wearing him down you know that's that's what it don't matter if you are a survivalist if you're out there without water and food you know how long can you really survive and um you know we hope he just walks out you know gives up and you know we didn't talk about this last night there is people that are hurt there is people that are injured but at this time nobody has died and let's not make this if if he does have social media if he does have a family out there that cares for him you know turn yourself in don't make this worse than what it is you know just give up and and make this make our community get back to to what it is you know uh yes sir yes sir uh can you speculate as to what his motivated have been I I do not know sir I apologize I do not know that that's a follow ask how many boots do you have on the ground that are out on this search well I was there early this morning and I probably seen over a 100 cars uh not saying there's 100 people in the woods because we kind of take them in groups uh and uh you know you don't want to take you got Crossfire if something bad was to happen uh you don't want to put people in Harm's Way and you want to keep them separated um so I'm not going to say we got 100 people in the woods but I say we have teams and we have groups and you know we keep them out there we bring them back in it's kind of like a k9ine you got a bomb threat in a school you can't walk one dog through a whole school you got to bring it back for water and that's what we're doing here we're bringing Pap back in let them get refreshed and then they go back out and that and that might be something it might be today and it might be a week from now but we'll continue to do that you believe it's going alive you know I I I don't know the answer to that the man upstairs probably knows the answer that better than I do and um well the weather's not being that cold and it's not been that hot so um that's that's the first I've heard I'm sorry you releas said said he okay I I I didn't do the search Once what does it mean that the1 found that's rep I'm I'm sorry I might take in fact that gun was left and I don't love the fact that the battery was taken out of the phone indicating if you trace technology as an investigative Point what does all that say to you well that says to me that the FBI and the ATF and people that deal with that stuff on a daily basis and our intelligence with the state police they will they will dig all in that stuff and and you know it's not something you can get overnight um but if they find it they're going to pass on the information and you know that'll be a part of the investigation that if if he was to come out that would go to the criminal portion of this investigation you mentioned that you weren't aware necessarily of the after of Miss Mills in there you know that your partner agencies shed some light on the text messages that were part of the aav and if that speak to his motive and whether or not he may still be Al um that's something maybe the sheriff or I'm sorry sheriff I didn't see you right well that's uh like I say the case is still under investigation and I'd really rather not get into that at this time we're concentrating the efforts right now uh state police trying to apprehend this guy and that's that's our main focus uh yes paperwork has been obtained uh signed by our Commonwealth Attorney uh it has been executed but I'd really that's today and I'd really rather not uh get into the investigation we're going to try to lay hands on him and then we'll process all that through court and so I wonder at what point how how long is the search going to go on if he did do what he said that he was going to do that we'll search until we can find him until we exalt all resources and um um we're not going to quit uh we definitely want to you know lay hands on him and bring him to Justice looking at some of the details in that idic I there's some critical points that would identify him do you ever get a sense that he wants to be caught or well I've not got the sense that he wants to be caught you know it'd be pretty simple for him just to walk out or step down on 75 I mean uh we're looking I I I really don't know but uh I I wish we could you know lay hands on him and bring him in Sheri Marshals are included in the investigation yes uh the victims are uh there's no fatalities you know I've not been to the hospital or nothing like that but the way I understand it uh all will recover no ma'am sir if you got any information that there was anybody else involved helping him in this no getting him out of there any of that stuff uh we're we're investigating but we've not obtained information to say that anybody else was involved not saying they're not but we've not we've not no sir are of Kentucky they out of some from State some out of state yes we have all that's documented we have exact times but uh this time the investigative part I'd really rather not discuss that sheriff was the gun legally purchased pardon was the gun legally purchased yes sir yes at what point was law enement I'd really rather not uh elaborate on that being you know if he is brought to court the the way we receive that and the people that maybe had gave us that information I'd rather not disclose that are there other potential witnesses that warned you about what suspect no sirn uh like uh uh the trooper said you know he is entered NC so uh if he's in Tennessee Florida wherever he's at you know uh everyone will be aware if his name is run or anything he will be picked up just like if he was here today yeah I don't not really no nothing nothing concrete you know we did recover the phone he could have a cell phone he may have two cell phones but as far as me saying for sure that he does no I can't say that any questions y'all would like to ask Mr couch once you do get hands on oh he'll be questioned yeah there's many questions that we have yes real quick this might sound kind of dumb apologize that's such a heavily Travers stress I drive it we all drive it advice for people that are little because lges God well that's a possibility just kind of be aware of your surroundings and uh that's about all we can say you know there's a that's a we sure didn't expect nothing like this to happen and that's a heavy patrolled Road you know State Police ourselves all agents you know Interstate really patrolled heavily there's so many people out there so just use caution and kind of be aware of your surroundings well we're we're just trying to show a real heavy presence to put the community at ease to let them know that we are out and if anybody needs Assistance or maybe if they see the cruiser sitting on the side of the road they can pull in and say hey we saw a guy walking back here you know we're just trying to show a really heavy police presence right now no just the one so I sent you some photos over Facebook and if youve done a grid search um you know we're we're we have flown like Po you go a mile each Direction so it's in a big circle pattern you know we can we can take that out further um and we will take it out further you know we have drones coming in every day from different agencies that we we're using um so you know we're not going to turn down any help um and we're going to keep looking if it if the it gets Brader and broader we'll just keep going until we exhaust those that information and we don't think he's no longer there um but our first priority is to protect the people in that immediate community and uh protect that business you know business you know we've kind of took it over last couple days so we want to appreciate and thank the 49 exit because you know we've kind that's where we kind of set up and and it's probably hurting the business so we want to thank them uh for for letting us do that um if I can encourage you all I know you contact post and 911 and other agencies franker dispatchers they we have people that are working tremendously like barely any sleep because they don't want to leave because they're they want to be a part of the of what's going on and uh and they work really hard so be patient with them too because they're going on not very much sleep like some of us are so we might be a little grouchy so don't don't just be nice to them and be pleasant and they'll try to get you the information and they'll they'll send me emails left and right I apologize I say he's gonna kill a lot of people yeah for 30 minutes prior to the shooting there's a there's a new report out by NBC news saying that 30 minutes prior to the shooting he texted ex-wife saying that he's going to kill a lot of people I'll give you the actual quote of what he said um and then he said he was going to do do harm to himself which is interesting because he was that they were asked today by journalism what makes you think he's still alive if he's gonna text this kind of stuff why would you think he's still alive and that's a great question yeah that's what I would be asking too I mean if he said this is his intent then what makes them believe he didn't follow through with that but again it's it's a whole balancing act because you got you know all this area here what do you do at this point do you assume that he's dead but do you just go at ease at that point and never retrieve his body and but there's a chance that this guy could pop out if he's alive and redo more harm to someone if he's still alive even though if he's not armed he could break into a place and do more crime and take more guns or do something else do you follow what I mean like well if he gets desperate if he really is still alive and he runs out of supplies or whatever else yeah he could be capable of anything at that point desperate I think it got the Goldilocks weather up there in Kentucky I'm I'm I'm looking at the weather to see what the thing because they said it's a little bit warmer today so it's 71 degrees so you're dealing with in the next just we'll just say four days in in that area 76 degrees for high today low in the upper 40s tomorrow High 82 low in the low 50s next day 85 low in the low 60s next time 75 low in the low basically the temperatures mid 70s to mid 80s all week with temperatures going down about uh besides tonight and tomorrow night back up you know around 60 at night I mean you can live out there in that that's like the ideal weather it's not too hot it's not too cold yep so we don't know what he has on him we don't know if he has like long attire I you know we don't know they they haven't given any description whatsoever of what he's going to k l myself afterwards yeah there you go so what do you do at this point though if you do you just wait like the way they're saying is as if they're just going to wait for him to come out and hopefully he comes out I mean he did emphasize look he didn't kill anyone I mean he's still gonna s spend decades upon decades if not life in prison where the five counts of his face is five counts of attempted murder right yeah let's see what people say in the poll so far most people are saying a lot he's alive and hiding out listen according to flight radar just at just just south here's what's crazy if you want to put flight radar back up because there's a cou there's just south of London and gray there is a Kentucky State Police Chopper in the sky right now just south of London if you want to get that up get that screen back up well I'll have to pull it back up I literally closed everything out earlier when we were having issues I closed absolutely everything to fix the the volume issue this is a definitely involved with the search this Chopper south of London so it's probably about maybe like maybe 15 minutes south of where the shooting occurred yeah let me see um looks like it's circled around down here by this church for a while Sul for Spring Church and that was down here on the Ken Kentucky Tennessee line on the line and that's what I was saying earlier like all on that West flank there it there's so much fars that will take you down to Tennessee I mean two days since this inent happened we're approaching two days we're approaching what 48 hours now yep pretty soon pretty soon 48 Hours how far can one person go in the woods for 48 hours if they're moving 15 miles a day how far can someone travel I mean four miles an hour I mean obviously G to need some sleep plus you're probably going to be if he's tring around I mean we don't we just don't know that's that's what's crazy I don't know what the take of this I my mind is all over the map here because what do you do if he's sending these texts out and remember when he's sending these texts out also could be a ruse too to his wife or ex-wife saying that he was going to do self home on to him as a way to make people think that he was going to do self harm but not necessarily do self harm just a way to so people say wow we can't find him in the woods he did something to himself that's not look and then he gets away well that's what happened with Aon Pennington I think they assumed that he did something to himself and they just really didn't pursue it same thing the went exactly to the Border by that uh jelo matter of fact the chop if you look at flight radar the chopper the Kentucky State Police Chopper actually went into Tennessee at one point a little bit well yeah this isn't very far the London is not very far from the Tennessee line yeah but they were all in this area of lot Mud Creek Road he did numerous circles around lot Mud Creek Road earlier right on the Kentucky Tennessee line and then went back up I wonder what that's about just just just south of Saxton just south of Saxton they've done at least five it looked like five circles but it's all east of 75 but man that's all that crazy area too as far as uh landl I think there's no doubt this is connected I mean it's a Kentucky State Police Chopper in the sky there's no doubt that it's connected in some way I see a lot of and why text the ex-wife what why text the ex-wife no we're she's asking where did this information come from in the first place that he had texted her like where come from they could it's NBC News is reporting they also acknowledged today they retrieved the phone at the scene he said it the sheriff they retrieved the phone I heard it said it very quickly they retrieve the phone and he know if he has additional phones on he do know similar to the weapon they retrieve the weapon but they don't know if he has additional weapons on so they probably went in the phone and saw that what he did or his ex-wife called in and reported and showed the texts that were made I mean the guy could have a satellite phone could have some sort of other burner phone he might not even have a phone and here's another thing too is like is it possible assuming if he had a phone maybe had a phone could you geopend the woods area could they get the FBI involved and find out if there's any been any phone activity in the woods there yes they could and track it I don't think they know if he had additional Vehicle phone without battery someone said I know some people in the chat are from the air is anyone in the chat does anyone in the chat actually know this guy I'm sure people familiar with this case or you know or W you know somebody might be watching I know there's locals in the chat they' back up to WS uh Zoom it put it up a little bit it's back up towards the crime scene so it kind of did a the chopper kind of just did a flank along I75 all the way down to the Tennessee Border do they feel like this guy's gonna jump State jump into Tennessee Chopper's going and now watch this Chopper disappear like it did before over the water we'll see what happens here because really this is the only clue that we get really of what what in the world is really going on and now it's over the lake Uh Wood Creek Lake all right here we go in a situation on on the radar it's slowing R it gets right in that middle of that Lake and then last time we did this it just vanished right here it it vanished right around here that last look now watch slowing down right there not moving that's exactly the last spot before right right in the middle of that Lake and then it just went Boop off the radar right south of Woods Creek Lake Dam something tells me too you know what we learned with cavicante a little bit was he navigated through the woods through the creek beds and the rivers yep because it's easier to go easier to go along the water line than it is through a rugged terrain like that that Chopper stopped right there come on in jlr investigate so uh we heard he did he say he was going to give another press conference later on today um I didn't catch that so we got a $15,000 reward 71% of the chat thinks he's alive and hiding out 29% say dead from self harm so most people think he's out there meaning you Just Surrender and say I'm not going to do this act anymore or his plan is to goes below the radar huh weird no definitely definitely weird we played multiple pressers when we started out on the live feed we put we played the presser from last night to keep people up to speed yesterday and then we just played the recent press conference that you just give gave at 3M in um London so we're up to speed on press conferences oh they gave another press conference a little bit yesterday too the Pio talked for uh like about 10 minutes so here's his house on Google Earth 39 carpine and that Chopper was near there we got quite a bunch of people look like a lot of trailers around there so will he work his way home I see a creek over there ly Camp Creek I wonder how far that goes I want to I want to put the actual distance from his house to the 49er truck stop 39 carp Lane Woodbine to the uh 49er truck stop is approximately uh 32 miles if you travel for eight hours at three miles an hour you know I'm just thinking how fast could someone move you know in this situation I would say two to three miles an hour through that Woods because you're gonna have to duck and things like that so I'm I'm just trying to think if he's on foot how much ground can he make and and from this incident happened this incident happened almost 48 hours from now and an hour you know 5:30 pm today will be 48 Hours when this incident happened I would I think I think in that terrain at the most 15 to 20 miles a day if he's walking hiking well if he gets 30 miles he can get down by his house by now yeah I say I say 15 to 20 because uh one time I went on a two-day hike on the appalation trail up in New York and it was pretty rough terrain I would say um but we were in a big group and we did 10 miles a day and we stopped when it got dark essentially we so we went early in the morning till it got dark and then started back up in the morning and it was 10 miles each day so I think if he's constantly on the move and experienced with this type of terrain he could do 15 to 20 a day I would say possibly though for the first couple hours he bookie out of there really quickly I mean I can't see how like you would think that they would come in at least put a perimeter around that truck stop area I would say the shooting and then the adrenaline and start running and running and running and running and running but how far can you get before you get tired the terrain up there's pretty rough did he have hiking boots on is he wearing shoes like what what type of like attire you know what is he wearing then you got to look into the factor you know is he wearing long sleeve or or because you might talk about poison like pricker book prickers and things there terrain where if you have you have your skin open makes it even harder to navigate through but then you're looking at the same time you're looking at the temperature you know you want to wear layer closed but if it gets in the 80s you can get hot quick and dehydrated quick if you have layer clothed right now yeah I think he's probably dressed for the terrain if I had to guess he's military so he would know how to dress what if he has camouflage on or dressed in all black or camo that makes it very hard to be seen right yeah I wonder if anyone actually saw him when he was doing the shooting like did anyone actually see him up there I had seen no reports about Witnesses they probably didn't because I guess you know if you're driving by on the interstate and somebody's up here shooting you probably wouldn't see them and then it caused an accident too so yeah Nikki said no one saw him yeah no I mean to me it's like and I'm looking back I mean just that now what I see though is that right behind that truck stop there you go a little bit and then you got the rock C Castle River take it a little bit West th a little bit more little bit more more you eventually bumps into the Rock Castle River if you could find it and it winds north to south yeah it's up here all back there like just west The Rock Castle River and it kind of navigates through those uh if you follow it down it heads South it heads north to south but it seems like that would be like a path that someone could navigate through yep so I'm just wondering like did he I mean it's not it doesn't appear to be far matter of fact I'm gonna do something here on the um map from the truck stop to from the 49 truck stop down the highway 80 which is South by this the river because 80 goes across the next if if you okay the point is I'm making is if you if you leave out of that west of that truck stop and you head south the next major road you'll have to cross if you head south is Highway 80 you're going to have to cross over Highway 80 if you're headed south but from the 49er truck stop to Highway 80 it looks like I don't know maybe like 10 miles but there's a hiking area called branch of Hulk Creek which makes me think H I think he booked out behind that truck stop and and and navigated in these this terrain here whether it's the rock CLE Rock Castle Creek if he just you know whether it's the rock CR Castle Creek or between the Rock Castle Creek and Wood Creek Lake where that helicopter was in between there I mean I can't I I can't see anywhere else in in this country where you could get more densely wooded than like this I mean it doesn't more densely wooded than this that's his advantage to me it seems like that's that's the advantage the guy has is this Woods I mean because how how's law enforcement going to get back there like that what do you think well I guess if they're going to else's has been like killed all right so uh W W uh ymt says the woman who he texted contact the law enforcement officers to show the text they interviewed the woman at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday the all the woman provided officers with a text message from couch that said I'm going to kill a lot of people well at least I'll try then he said I'll kill myself afterwards so they interviewed this woman and and and another media Outlet reported the woman as his ex-wife what's his ex-wife's name but that's good that she brought that you know to law enforcement's attention but it doesn't you know it looks like the ex-wife is like cooperating for sure yeah not protecting now that ex-wife could be the one that's involved with him in this do or DV incident it might be part of that terroristic threats charge that he had in March or what was it February and I I I I thought I heard law enforcement say that issue got dropped well they clarified to make sure they they let people know that it was not domestic violence that's not what the call was about that's not what the charges um and according to his mother Saturday night when she made all those post on Facebook she was saying that what he did specifically was he threatened to kill the neighbor's daugh dog because the the dog was aggressive towards his son and that's what the chart according to the mom she was kind of like downplaying the charge and saying oh it was just you threatened to kill a dog that's all you know but they they charged him with making terroristic threats and that case eventually got dropped or is it still pending um I thought it was still pending but but I think what law enforcement said today was that it was dropped at some point so his son was living with him well that's interesting does that um 49er uh let sorry this happened or you know I'm working with law enforcement to find him or you know something like that really is more appropriate if you're going to talk at all I mean she could have just said in her post like yes he's been having some difficulty recently um he has PTSD and I'm working with law enforcement so that we can find him as soon as possible and I'm so sorry for the victims right that's that's a more appropriate thing to say in that moment than blaming random people on Facebook for having the nerve to talk about her son so that's why I don't trust her I don't trust her I would have I would have law enforcement parked outside that house probably all around that house actually yeah they're saying that Laura Jones posted that Dale Cal Jr the brother has had two young children don't require it though well yeah wouldn't he have to be charged with first-degree murder for that to be on the table he's saying he deserves the death penalty he believes he deserves it which is a very very harsh thing to say but he said what he said yeah you can tell I can tell in that case like the Marcy's family probably had enough of him a long long time ago I want to see a resolution here I like Kentucky I I really I've always liked Kentucky I think it's a beautiful state and I get why people were saying they didn't they don't like Louisville but I thought it was a cute little town and when I was there it was in the spring so the all the flowers were in full bloom everywhere and it was just breathtaking it was gorgeous I couldn't even believe it I was like how is this so beautiful I kept saying that it was really pretty but it was right before the Kentucky Derby a week before that I was there so this is is this going to just land here so so it looks like this helicopter basically updates in so long so but we've I'm in touch with Kia's friends and also Sean's friends almost every day we keep in contact and what I'm told by them is that we were correct everyone sort of agrees that David Turner is the prime suspect now he had provided an alibi to the police and the police in their last statement which has been a while now they said he alibied and they were working on checking out that alibi to see if they could corroborate it but ever since then we really haven't heard anything um there was another person that was brought to my attention that that some people thought might have something to do with it but it seems like that's probably unrelated and everyone is still suspecting David but yeah the police have they did that one press conference right at the beginning Frederick County and then we haven't heard from them again and you know we really want to keep covering that case because you know you got to think about those kids her children you know she has the baby the seven-month-old baby but then the other three kids are a bit older and just think about the fact that they had to go back to school recently in the last couple weeks so it's got to be really hard on them to have to start a new school year without their mother and um one thing I can report that will probably ease some Minds remember David Turner's mother had filed an emergency order for custody that was denied so um and the family said that the police had spoken with the kids uh early on but right now the focus is for them to get acclimated into school and kind of adjust to their new reality and at some point the police will try to speak with them again but that's really all we know um I did learn a lot about uh Sean Sean Ling the victim something a lot of people don't know he had just retired from the Army the Friday before this happened so remember this happened around 1:30 in the morning on a Sunday early morning hours he had just completed his army retirement and he was about to enter the Secret Service a lot of people don't know that about him he had been accepted into the Secret Service program and was over the moon about it he was super super happy he was very happy to have a son so it's just such a tragedy with so many people affected the chopper went away but we got another Chopper um well this one might be going this one's Northwest of London or North Northeast of London but it looks like it's going the other way yeah Peter was asking about my accent so um I grew up in the South for about half my life and then I moved up North for a long time and then back to the South um so I still have a Southern accent that I never was able to fully I tried to lose my Southern accent but I don't know how successful I was when I was 16 I moved to Pennsylvania from living in the South my whole life and the kids at school couldn't even understand me when I talk so I really tried hard to lose the accent if I could but yeah so it's a little bit of but it kind of I didn't understand what it said the scanner's been really quiet I'm I'm trying to find this affidavit too that they say they have um we could get the affidavit let's look for the affidavit Magnolia oh by the way uh they named the five victims in the shooting Rebecca buer pu ye a r Norma Liberia Renee Walker Janet booth and Eric tavin according to the affid David Laura County dispatch received a call earlier in the evening stating that she we're talking about uh Laura County affidavit reveals new information according to AOC David Laura County dispatch received a call earlier in the evening stating that she received a text from couch advising that he was going to kill a lot of people an emergency cell sight tracker was placed on his cell phone which pinged at 653 p.m. within 2500 meters of Exit 49 just over an hour after shots were fired throughout the investigation authorities learned that couch had purchased a CO Cobalt AR-15 rifle with a holos sun sight mounted on it and 1,000 rounds of ammunition the same day of the shooting the initial call caller was interviewed overnight and said she shared a screenshot of a te text message from couch that was sent at 50:03 p.m that read I'm going to kill a lot of people well try at least he sent another message that read in part I'm going to kill myself afterwards according to court documents couch and the woman couch and the woman who alerted authorities share a child together around 7:55 p.m Couch's Toyota CHR was located in the chroma Ridge area near I75 court documents revealed that after author authorities searched the adjacent area they found a green army Stuffle army style duffel bag with couch written on it in black marker several magazines of 223 caliber 5.56 ammunition that matched evidence at the scene they found the AR-15 and several additional AR-15 magazines that's what authorities are saying so apparently whoever he text and said he was going to do this uh they share a child together Fox 56 obtained court records that date back to 215 that shed a light on Couch's history couch was arrested in February for incident that occurred a year earlier according to a Knox County warrant couch edly threw a rock at another man's dog and when asked why he did so he started cursing went inside his home and came back armed with an AR-15 there you go he then allegedly told the man that he would kill him and the dog the warrant states that the man's 9-year-old daughter was present for the entire exchange he was released on a $1,000 Bond and the case was eventually dismissed this March in in 2015 couch was arrested and charged with second degree criminal mischief and third degree unlawful transaction with a minor according to the Whitley County arrest citation he supplied a 17-year-old with alcohol and spray paint that the pair used to ver vandalize numerous County Properties initially couchs faced several criminal mischief charges including first deegree criminal mischief however this charge alongside two third degree criminal mischief charges were dismissed and he was sentenced to six months in jail 200 hours of community service and to pay $1,500 in fines so the incident that he had prior he pointed an AR 15 rifle at a guy and their nine-year-old child the nine-year-old child was there over a dog incident yeah but according to his mom he's just a nice young man right and then he also supplied a minor in 2015 with alcohol and then they went to do a bunch of Mischief together where he got sentenced to six month in the jail and that was in another County this is all coming out so that's some interesting insight about who this guy is so he's I mean I know they said earlier today well he has a minor C criminal history but it also paints a picture about who this guy is he pointed a gun at a person a year prior and that case was dismissed a really good this is a really good report no it's an awesome report I mean it it does great Insight yeah you know there were no go ahead well I just wanted to um name the victims again so these are the victims who were shot so there were five people that were shot and then I think a couple more were injured due to the accident that was caused by the shot so the five victims um are all in stable condition and their names are Rebecca perier Norma Liberia Renee Walker Janet booth and Eric tavin and just people passing through just traveling through I don't I don't know where they all live but I mean right I mean they they could very well not even be from around there and just travel on I75 Magnolia shoot a little bit north towards south of Lexington and white oak you have an incoming US army chopper G20 675 uh just north right right below Lexington incoming and it started out in Frankfurt you got an army chopper what's this about it's headed to the area it looks like doesn't it yeah army chopper incoming started out by Frankfurt how high what's the elevation on this how high is it it's, 1500 feet or it's 1100 feet fly flying pretty low and then well then then we have another one it's a little bit but that's a that's a medical Chopper Appalachia Regional healthc care yeah go back to the army chopper see where this goes seems like it keeps going more and more south Right Along the Kentucky River yeah I was GNA say Kentucky River huh yeah so this guy's erratic man this guy's been having erratic Behavior since 215 providing kid a kid alcohol to do some spray painting and vandalism and then pointing a gun over over a dog incident why was the case dismissed not enough they tracked his cell phone at 6:53 p.m. about an hour after sh were fired within 2500 M of Exit 49 I got some information about this Chopper right here Magnolia according to this somebody on tweet says US Army has been dropping off combat Personnel within the Appalachian area uh with this area within the last few hours second load coming from Frankfurt now to the east burnstead area looking for Joseph couch they are sending personel that's what this is about so according to this tweet I sent a magnolia they're bringing in AR they're bringing in the Army to search for this guy or Army Personnel I don't know who I it might not it might be like law enforcement on an army chopper but they're bringing in personnel and they're dropping them off to search for this guy do we have the Army that's going to be helping with the search here did you see that tweet Magnolia see this could be big man they could be bringing in reinforcements that's that's something that's what somebody's tweeting about this Chopper that we see right here they're bringing in the Army the land and East [Music] uh yeah it says they've been dropping off combat Personnel all day huh what type of Chopper is that black hawk a Blackhawk how many people how many how many people fill on that let me let me how many people can fit on that Chopper yo they got an army chopper coming in man it can transport 11 fully equipped combat soldiers ah they're bring it it looks like they're bring it in the army per this tweet what do you think you think it's legit Magnolia well I mean we're literally looking at a Blackhawk on the radar so yeah I think it's legit I mean it's not like they're just going out there pulled up I just pulled up the image look this is what it looks like right here yeah they're bringing a Blackhawk folks the course E60 Blackhawk right here with loads of personnel so be the National Guard somebody said in the chat National Guard not Army I mean he could have you know it's an army helicopter right or is it a National Guard helicopter well it says the United States Army on here military's coming man the military's coming for this guy yeah so basically they're sending soldiers down to this area bortac in loads a bortac type group yeah and that's what you were saying earlier when we were kind of talking about the terrain and it's like how do they get people out there well this is how they're flying them in on helicopters dropping them down into that area yeah well let's go back to the radar and show everyone yeah this this thing came from Frankfurt and the person's tweeting claiming it's gonna go to East what's it called burnstad to drop people off folks and they've been doing it for a while so I we don't know how many personnel are out there looking for this dude in the terrain it's about to get interesting I think it's like you know for them it's like the hunt too you know to find this guy like we're gonna find this guy whether he's dead or alive we're gonna find him army chopper coming in we'll see where it lands pretty close it's getting close Carterville going at 112 knots kind of looked like it just stopped interesting if true but wouldn't they like bring more soldiers and just whip them down the interstate in a bus or something instead I mean because you only fill up what 12 11 on there you think you would want more right right yeah CU this this Chopper is totally stopped by the way you know this Chopper stopped maybe they're letting people off now yeah huh we're kind of like just seeing in real time what in the world is going on and how their tactics are to bring people in reinforcements what about volunteers are they G to get to the point where they say can volunteers could come out and look for this guy or what saying I don't I don't know what this guy's doing if he's putting out how's he getting this information yeah that's a 911 he's saying that it's a 911 call of someone saying a black SUV was shooting at people but that's a 911 call span it out a little bit just see all the uh air traffic control there's something here says that's that medical one I again it's going yeah but they've been assisting with the searches right yes no yeah but it's like it's heading the other way this really gives us the P you know the only perspective of what's really going on a clue with I haven't seen any like live feeds or streams going on oh with this folks they said lock your doors though lock your doors let me see if there's any new additional information that is out there on this couch case that can help I'm actually looking at CNN I don't really like CNN but they put out a new article police say they're hoping that constant pressure and an intense search effort involving drones helicopters dogs and dozens of officers will lead to the suspect's capture Crews from federal state and local agencies are scouring the vast densely wooded area near where they found his car in the AR-15 and a phone our goal is to apply steady pressure and where be Mr couch down the longer he is in the woods hopefully he has no water and nothing to eat man this dude could be eating berries and stuff and Creek Water right yeah well remember cavicante ate didn't he eat watermelon or something like that like fruits and stuff that he found yeah I think he lived off watermelon so that would be his food and water in one what about if there was like cabins or homes back there he could Scout get some stuff in people's trash tons and tons of cabins out there but so far I haven't seen any reports of any break-ins or they did say he was a um he served as a combat engineer his role as a combat engineer could explain how he's able to evade police detection in the wilderness it says combat engineers are people who specifically train soldiers how to navigate complex and difficult combat missions that includes avoiding detection navigating environmental hazards and taking up defensive and fighting positions therefore if couch is out somewhere in the woods trying to hide from authorities there no doubt he's got a certain level of survival and combat skills that other members of the public may not have a tonight tonight will be the coldest out of all the week it's supposed to be upper 40s tonight and then every day moving forward it's supposed to get warmer and warmer each night temperature hovering between 75 and 85 each day but it'll get like lows around 60 in the next couple days so I mean you could you could survive out there in that yeah it's pretty good weather I mean it's actually the I I like I said it's almost like Goldilocks it's not too hot not too cold he wouldn't even have to set a fire but we don't know it's a tire either I mean uh people speculate in the chat that he could be like they're bringing into military to help besides just law enforcement like maybe these trained um they're trained to do this yeah so yesterday or actually it was um really late Saturday night early morning Sunday the Laurel County Sheriff's Office had put out a list of agencies assisting at that time and I'll list off all the ones they named they said London city police Kentucky State Police Corbin City police Willam Williamsburg City police Richmond City police FBI US Marshals ATF Lexington Metro Rock Castle County Sheriff's Office Mount Vernon Police Department East Bernat fire and rescue London Fire Department London Laurel County Rescue Squad Laurel County Emergency Management ABC Bluegrass Army Depot police and numerous Area Fire Department that's a lot and now they're adding the Army too I guess it's a lot of personnel he said over a 100 where' It Go vanished maybe under the radar again go on let me spread out and see if there's another one um no it might have landed at that point yeah I it's probably safe to say the fact that they were at the Sheriff's Office given a press conference in London you got that London mayor there the the officials there it's probably their area where they're might be an area right there where they meet and do all you know a staging area though they had 909 and 25 as staging area but now they might have moved it and expanded it to London and they're going to bring in Personnel I I just feel like at this point it seems like based off that press conference that they're committed to finding this guy so there could be a possibility that they could be preparing to do this for days or as long as it takes what do you think yeah they'll yeah I wonder how long they'll keep it up before they say well he must be dead well a week he a person can survive on Creek Water right yeah I think he if he's still alive I think he's probably doing fine we're only 48 hour hours into this but the longer it goes on he'll if he does have supplies he'll run out of supplies and that's when he'll have to start breaking into places Brad said c stole someone's pie that was sitting out to cool on the porch did he I kind of I vaguely remember something about that that he stole a pie did he pie yeah I mean he was going around and just kind of breaking into people's houses and taking stuff and then leaving that was really frustrating too because people kept seeing him and then the police still didn't catch him it was like why aren't you catching this person I don't understand how this guy got away to be honest I really don't it's the terrain man and I just think that the timing if they if I think the nighttime gave him an advantage that original when it happened because they had that was couple hours before it got dark but once it gets dark it happened at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday so um it would have been getting dark within a couple hours but you know with the way first of all they had 30 minutes apparently he he made those texts 30 minutes before he started shooting so then he started the shooting itself the cars have bullet holes so you would think the authorities would have been able to figure out pretty quickly what direction the shots came from and pursue that area so I just don't understand how he got away in the first place I really don't I I think this was premeditation I think he probably has a backpack going M tab said no it's not the terrain it's incompetence and it was still like yeah I agree I agree on that I think it's ridiculous that they haven't found him or that they didn't find him right away honestly I think it's completely ridiculous well espe it's so rural you're gonna have to get people there you're GNA have to scramble and get so many people there it it's here's another thing you have to consider the interstate got shut down for three hours and it's so remote it's not like you can get a team of people there quickly I'm sure the county sheriff started SC how many how many County Sheriffs do they have there a dozen well I saw videos of Emergency Response vehicles at the scene so there was a whole bunch of them out there so I don't know I'm not I guess you know it seems like it seems like maybe initially when they got the 911 calls about someone shooting and they they got there their their first priority was probably the victims yeah but they should have said right away like where did these shots come from and we looked at the truck stop area where there's that little road that goes right through there which is almost certainly how he got away so I understand there's a lot of terrain but how does he just disappear that quickly without a tra without anyone seeing him how's that even possible great questions GSP said he said I bet he has Mr MREs for days yeah he may he probably does yeah I mean that's what I mean and then water I mean can't you get those tablets and drink out of the creek yeah [Music] I'm just saying if you're going to text somebody ahead of time and say you're going to do this it shows their has and got the AR-15 it shows that there has to be some level planning here or or do you think just spur the moment like swing some Jack patience for it either I just think it's completely ridiculous and I can't believe that the mayor was doing videos in his kitchen on Facebook and that was the only information this whole thing was on that only speculating someone mentioned maybe he has on a ghillie suit yeah which actually you know I'd say there's a high probability of that because if his training is specifically in this um evading and all this kind of stuff then yeah infrared sees you in a ghilly suit but not in any caves or bunkers yeah I just feel like with with as many caves that we've seen that are out there I feel like if he's just hiding in a cave he'd be able to hear the Choppers overhead first of all and all he has to do is just stay put till the chopper leaves unrelated but there's a hurricane that might hit Louisiana and I've been monitoring that and debating whether I should go storm travel 10 hours to storm Chase it what do you think put the pole up should we go storm chase a hurricane I'm not sure
