and we are live jlr and Magnolia investigate come on in everyone The Manhunt for 32y old Joseph couch continues um authorities gave an update a little bit ago we're gonna talk about this case a little bit more and he had still not been found hello Magnolia hello hi everybody so uh this this this case is wild we're over 72 hours now since uh this this this madman uh went on this shooting spree along I75 Laural County Kentucky and he's still not been caught Magnolia yeah I see this Chopper here this medical Chopper it's just to the west of where this happened in the first place yeah we've been watching the chopper all day long like Choppers come and go they vanish they they they they're in the area but then they vanish um you know they say they're gonna they said they're gonna find this dude they they they said they're gonna keep going and find this dude that's the way I take it here uh it's pretty wild that they haven't caught this guy yet yeah um I'm surprised they didn't catch him right away and the more time that goes by the less confident I am that they will ever find him so you don't think they'll find them huh each as each day goes yeah I just feel less and less confident but the mayor came out earlier and said he's very confident so we'll see what he has to say and why he feels so confident I mean they've been saying for a couple days that they feel like they have the area contained and they have him contained inside a certain perimeter so you know it's good that they're optimistic yeah $335,000 reward uh uh com combination of multiple people including uh 10,000 from the United Way of Laurel County Crime Stoppers 10,000 and uh authorities also pitching in another 15,000 for a total of $35,000 um I you know if he's not caught will it increase but will it be 50,000 tomorrow that remains to be seen um I was expecting him to be caught at any time but I'm I'm starting to get a little less optimistic here as each hour involves yeah I thought it was interesting earlier when we were looking at the US Marshall's reward um because if you go on their their Twitter page the US Marshalls service put it up um they don't make a whole lot of posts in just generally speaking so um yeah throw their I think it's interesting that they would announce a big reward in a case because I scrolled through their posts recently and I don't really see anything like this where they're offering a reward so I thought that was interesting yeah put that tweet up that they put because they tweeted it earlier so people can see the US Marshals has also tweeted out so uh and and like Magnolia says they don't tweet out very often so the fact that they really uh push you know this information out shows that the they're emphasizing you know they need to catch this guy as soon as possible but so far there hasn't been no reports of new crime so far there hasn't been reports of any additional shootings is this the right page oh I sent you the Tweet earlier in the in the telegram chat you might be on the wrong page possibly I sent you a screenshot of the uh of the of the tweet I don't know if you can do it by screenshot or um yeah this is us Marshalls service Lexington so let me see yeah they don't that was one thing that kind of stood out to me because they aren't really like very active it seemed like on their account so the fact they're taking this very seriously sort of caught my eye yeah I mean uh having having that did you yeah there you go so there you go folks they put it out there us Marshall's looking for this guy I mean it seems like it's a collaborate uh you know a lot of uh agencies working together to uh find this guy but he's not caught yet oh so that's US Marshals Lexington yeah so so they're offering uh the $25,000 reward that was announced earlier today and then if you scroll down I mean you just see like happy labor day um you know they're shouting out this Deputy dog um you know so these are kind of the things they normally post now here's one from a almost a year ago on another fugitive um the rewards only $5,000 so um I think it's definitely remarkable that this case you know it's clearly they're putting a lot of effort into this yeah and I I do want to say that the media is reporting 35 they have 25 on their flyer but it's all it's 35 it's 35,000 that's out there right now um people take once uh uh what what I'm saying is uh you know 35,000 still not being caught London uh Kentucky city of uh 8,000 people it's almost like it's paralyzed there now did we hear anything about school tomorrow um I'm not sure I don't know if they've decided that or not but I think that they will be closed again I mean I wouldn't be surprised if they're closed the rest of this week and then like I said before maybe at that point then they would need to reassess because I don't think they can stay Clos indefinitely yeah okay people are saying closed in the chat you know there are some people watching right now from from uh this area and they're just you know they're I I are are are we we feel your pain because we know people are on edge you don't know where this dude is and you don't know what's going on and and you guys have family out there so just stay strong out there uh it seems like they're looking to find this guy and they're doing I mean they're giving daily press conferences oh you know every afternoon they seem like they've been given a press conference we're GNA pray the press conference in a short bit um also they put out themselves what the terrain Magnolia yeah share that um share uh what um what was his name Pennington okay so this is uh what they're yeah Scotty Pennington state trooper Kentucky state trooper Scotty Pennington um he's kind of been one of the the last couple days and post this um well he didn't post this one um this is an overhead view uh just to illustrate why it's so difficult to find it's just so dense thi Forest yeah so that's uh that's the view they gave earlier I mean that's so thick right I mean that's crazy to me it's like a needle in the T stack I mean look at that folks that's what they putting out as far as the terrain wise of what what they're dealing with here you know and it's a lot of Rolling Hills and like Rivers and Creeks that go in between you know is he is he up on a hill is he in the valleys is he navigating The Creeks is he still alive yeah it's debatable yeah it it it is um they did give a press conference out to Su we've done showing here will play the press conference um on the flight radar again you see Choppers go here and there the you know um see one just vanished off the radar again oh how long they going to do this for you know how long are they going to do this for and we're just going to keep people updated each day you know uh instead of just doing one continuous uh feed going on all day we'll we'll we'll keep people updated the best information that's out there the mayor spoke a little bit to news nation and the press conference that was uh out and it's starting to get dark again soon so folks so it gets dark in about another hour and 10 minutes or so sun will start going down you got another day I'd say once the sun goes down unless he's once to come out of the woods you know I don't think he's gonna I don't think they're gonna find him at night unless he wants to come out yeah I mean I I know they keep saying that they want him to walk out of those woods and it's like well yeah I want that too but I don't see that happening um Matt crumpton says I'm thinking he made it to the water yeah we showed on the map there were there's so many like different waterways there's these creeks and rivers um what was that river called yesterday we were looking at oh yeah it's right back it's right and back in the Daniel Boom Forest I I'll get the name give me one second yeah but there's so many rivers and honestly that would be the easiest way to get through here I would think just staying by the ri River's Edge yeah so that's the interstate there right that's 75 yeah looks like it that's I75 you know him perched up on a mountain little Hill cliff and shooting down um so the the uh the river we're dealing with which is uh below would be The Rock The Rock Castle River Rock Castle yeah that's what I was trying to think of I mean but see if you want to believe what that witness said about the SUV you're talking about the other side of 75 away from the Rock cting River so you know I don't know if that witness account about a man jumping out of an SUV shirt back no shirt and hat backwards running into the woods I just don't buy that yeah but who knows right yeah his car is definitely a silver color I would never confuse it for a black car well like we said you know this could be all ba ruse or this could be him playing games throwing red herrings getting people off the trail yeah trying to manipulate the situation and something like that you know we we we still don't know and what did I tell you Magnolia I was like ready to go up there to see what's up but I bet you you couldn't even live stream in that dense area I bet you I bet you the Signal's really bad yeah but also um it would be difficult to know where to actually set up for doing a live stream too because we're looking at this right now this is like 700,000 acres and not that he made it that far necessarily but the searching and the different things they're doing are so spread out yeah no you're exactly right you don't even know it's like a needle in the Hast deack I mean the only thing you could do is just follow where law enforcement goes I I bet if you had um um starlink you might be able to live stream right yep I'm talking about signal wise but you would just have to follow where the law enforcement um are at you would have to follow where they're you know if they're really out there they claim they're out there they claim over a hundred law enforcement Personnel is out there looking for them yeah and they have certain areas that are set up for people like volunteers to come and bring if they want to bring food and things like that for the Searchers they have certain designated places for that yeah uh Mt Frampton uh says he's thinking he made it to the water I mean at the very least water you won't get a scent and also you could technically drink it I mean you're gonna need water at this point him if he doesn't have water on him he's gonna need water you're 72 hours I mean you're gonna I mean food you might you might be able to last a little bit but water 70 76 degrees in that area right now temperature in the low 80s today or you could get some berries and stuff like I mean hot you know to get hydrated melons and berries I don't know what type of fruits and vegetables are out there also I was just wondering what' you say honeysuckle honeysuckles yeah you know and then you know if he knows how to if he has a knife he could technically starts skinning animals oh yeah okay I think that's done playing so um do we wanna get the update from the mayor um yeah let's do the mayor let's do the mayor the mayor speaks to news Nation the mayor speak spoke earlier it's day four of the manh hunt let's he what the mayor has to say he seems like he's taking a Forefront the man hun for the Kentucky man wanted for allegedly shooting five people on I75 and police are revealing chilling new details saying this man suspect Joseph couch sent a text to his ex-wife just minutes before the shootings vowing to quote kill a lot of people and himself so far officers have recovered a silver SUV and an AR-15 registered to him and they warn that he still may be armed in dangerous so the area is still on lockdown joining me now is the mayor of London Kentucky mayor Randall wed mayor thank you so much for for your time first of all what is the situation like right now in London when it comes to making sure residents there are safe uh we have a lot of law enforcements presence with multiple agency currently in our city and county um so tensions are high uh but our community is very resilient and um this is a strong Community but like I said the in the law enforcement is agencies there's a lot of them here so there's a huge presence so a huge presence of law enforcement there mayor what are constituents telling you I mean are they still able to move around relatively freely are they afraid to go anywhere of course people are you know they are scared uh their tensions are high people are frustrated though they're they're frustrated that this is happening in our community and and we are still asking our everyone here to be very Vigilant um if they are moving about and we know that uh crw are are searching you know constantly that they are working very hard mayor just describe the terrain out there because we know investigators have called it jungle like it is it's very dense vegetation and rock Cliffs caves uh this is some very rough Terrain in the area that they're currently searching and you got to keep in mind this is thousands of acres of land just like what I described um so this is rough on the investigators the teams that is searching but uh these are highly trained professionals and we are suspecting to have some good results uh to come from this man hunt absolutely and this is something that I'm you know I'm certain no one expected is there a plan if couch isn't caught soon uh you know I think that they are in talks but that I'll leave that to the law enforcement side but I think they're confident they are going to uh capture him yes well that was my last question for you mayor how do you think this ends and what is your message to the people of lond in Kentucky you know I think it ends with again with the confidence that I have in all the agencies that's involved in this laurl County Sheriff's Department the London city police the state police uh you know all the agencies I'm very confident they are going to capture him and my message is this you know this individual chose violence uh but this doesn't Define us as a community or even as a state uh we are we are very prideful of of our background and our state here and the progress that we've made in this area so again we're not going to allow this to change the fabric of this community uh we hate it we're frustrated about it but we're not going to allow that to change who we are as a as a community absolutely mayor Randall wed of London Kentucky I certainly wish everyone there the the very best hope the couch is caught soon and thank you so much mayor for your time thank you guys in the media you guys have been great to help us get the facts out we certainly hope he will be caught soon thanks for watching all right so uh wed says that uh they're they're gonna catch him he thinks what's your thoughts Magnolia I think you're muted yeah now that I listen to the whole thing um yeah I'm not sure he didn't I mean he sounded like he was just kind of repeating a line that they're confident they're going to find him um I didn't hear any specific reasons why he would be confident in that so I think it's kind of still we're still at square one right but so what what's so crazy though is and and I can tell you about my own experience when I was covering the cavicante case and he made it up to Chester County and the the stolen vehicle was found abandoned uh right by the field you know and a lot of people are saying tavaan is long gone long gone was just a few residents up there thinking because I was all around there you know and talking to Residents and everything around there and a lot of the residents most of them thought think thought he was gone there was just a few out there that were out there with guns actually feeling like he's still out there and starting to think hey the guy is long gone but lo and behold a couple days later then there's aort of a Breakin in the area and he he he ends up he ended up being in that area a lot yeah with with con I I was never one of the people that thought he was quote unquote long gone because I mean even though there were a couple times where they said we have him contained we have him contained only for him to turn up somewhere else the next day he still was in that area consistently he was going to different places in the area he had a sister that he tried to get help from um so generally he was actually always in that area um and I kind of always felt like they would catch him and I was so frustrated like how have they not caught him yet this one is different though because for me because Kentucky is a whole different thing it's like we've we've already talked about this there's 5,000 known caves in Kentucky many of those are going to be here in this Forest so and we've seen the pictures of the different caves and caverns that someone could easily be hiding so all he would really need to do is just kind of hang out stay put um go into a cave do whatever he's going to do and you know like we talked about before if the if the helicopters are overhead he'd be able to hear them so then he could just stay in the cave and if they're using heat seeking technology if he's in the cave that's not going to work you know so I I think this is just a a lot different terrain than what we were dealing with in cavicante so he can hide in the caves he can you know move when he thinks he should move if he wants to move maybe he doesn't want to move maybe he just wants to die in a cave or something um he's suicidal he already said that so yeah I'll be really surprised if they find him yeah uh I sent you a report Magnolia about that neighbor that was speaking I don't know if you could get that one up um that that report there um but then and then also Pennington put out actually the terrain itself like him navigating through the terrain the thick brush if you could throw that maybe that clip up so people could see just the terrain that were that they're dealing with there I mean it's you literally gotta get like a hack all to get through that stuff yeah this was a file let me see um yeah this was posted I believe that Scotty Pennington state trooper Scotty Pennington is the one that took this video um just showing what it's like how thick it is out there that's why I think the guy is literally through the uh went down a river bed I mean look at that it's all like frickies things get caught up on you you got a long sleeve it's just wooded it's F you know L's gonna have to be on their guard back there too because he could he could take a s like this guy could take if he has an AR if he's armed he could take a gun and shoot at him yeah let's see all right let me look at this so here's this report the neighbor so we talked about this before so he was charged with making terroristic threats in the spring and the story behind that was that he threatened his neighbor and a dog with a gun so this I think that this video is going to tell a little bit more about that yeah we're gonna get that one up the neighbor but yeah it's uh it's very thick very I mean I just my mind is just like is this dude out there and I'm curious to see the followup of this that's why we keep you know coming back on to give you the latest and stuff of what they're doing it sounds like they're not giving up yet and I think that you know they owe it to their public to or they owe it to their constituents there to to to how far would you do this like how far are you gonna go how far in there are you gonna go how far in there are they are they like uh all the way you know west of that area all the way West Summer but between there and Somerset it's just lots and lots and lots of just rugged rugged terrain J couch was arrested after his neighbor swore out a warant against him that neighbor says it was over a threat and he's talking to us today about what took place wt's Phil Pendleton spoke to him and has more a Knox County man says he had no trouble with Joseph couch when he moved into his home in the great Community a few years ago uh he was very quiet person uh like I said up until this past February you know he did socialize with us you know he would say hi he would let his son come over here the neighbor he wanted his identity concealed says something changed February of this year says CS threw a rock at his dog and got upset when confronted about it next thing I know the man goes in his house comes back out and me and my nine-year-old are standing at a man with an AR pointed at us and said the next time that he would shoot us and the dog the warrant does not State the weapon was pointed at them and a Knox County Deputy says the charges would have been different had it stated that regardless couch was arrested and did serve some time in jail even after the you know the threatening to shoot me an incident and everything else I still tried to make peace with him Couch's neighbor tells us that this dog was injured during the incident he says that the dog was then found dead several days later found in a fence row he says he's not sure if the dog died there result of the rock throwing incident or if something else happened the neighbor says Couch's Behavior had been odd over the past few months leading up to the situation that happened Saturday on the interstate I can't even speculate why he did what he did or what pushed him to do what he did says it's simply a very unfortunate situation for everyone it feels for C's family as well had to deal with all of this in Knox County Phil Pendleton WMT Mountain news wow neighbor he shot the dog too threat the dog but he threw a rock he threw a rock at the dog and the crazy thing about that story is the same dog died was found dead a few days later and they don't know if it was caused by the rock being thrown at him or not but I think that's we didn't know that before we knew that there was a threat against a dog because his mom uh was saying it in those Facebook posts but the story now that we know it is he threw a rock at the dog and a few days later the dog was found dead so that's a little scary yeah they always say a lot of these criminals they start out doing something to animals then their crimes get worse yeah well you know anyone that's capable of hurting a dog is it's crazy um authorities uh gave a press conference right they gave a press conference um we some of you might have heard of some of you didn't for people that are coming in but they gave a press conference a little bit ago they've been given daily press conferences um and see what they have to say not just solve crimes here in Lael County but other jurisdictions as well we'll get started uh the Kentucky State Police continues to assist the Laurel County Sheriff's Office with the Manhunt of Joseph a couch we are going on 72 hours of this manh hunt we remain committed to resolving this situation as Swift and safely as possible we extend our sinly gratitude to all the Community Partners First Responders local state and federal law enforcement agencies such as fish and wildlife Federal forces service ATF FBI US Marshal Service elected officials and also churches and local organizations that that has helped us um to feed us to make sure we got plenty stuff to drink and um and all the other agencies that that are helping us that sometime don't get named like the Sheriff's Department departments and the city police from outside of our jurisdiction here um I want to give a big thanks to uh the London city police London city police has went way above Beyond this did not happen or occur in the city limits of London but this is their Community this is their people and um I want to thank them and their officers they've went way and above and beyond to help us answer calls out in the county and they've done a great and and remarkable job in helping in this situation and their public affairs officer um me and him and Deputy orchardo we worked well together um passing on information I want to thank them uh I'm sure I'm not I'm sure I'm leaving people out but I want to thank everybody I'm proud I'm proud to be a kuckian I'm proud to be the public affairs officer from the London State Police post and I hope that I'm making people feel at ease and and and it's hard it's hard when people are so so at fear right now that there's probably somebody out there and but I know my fellow officers and Troopers and all the other people they're working their guts out to try to find this Mr couch and bring us to an end and but I just want to give another thanks I want to thank um you know we've had outside agencies give us access to uh more aircraft so we we've got you know several more helicopters in the air um and Technology we got uh the ATF and the FBI and the the Marshall services and we've got other entities from way off from us that are contact with us um to bring their equipment here to try and help locate Mr couch um so I want to thank them I want to thank the people the people for being patient I know you see all this stuff on Facebook good or bad but people are really behind us and supporting us they're really supporting their neighbor uh they're really looking out for each other and we we want to thank them for doing that and we encourage them to continue to uh to check on their neighbor to check on the elderly person that that don't have somebody regularly coming to their house make sure you hear from them daily uh make sure you're being visant when you go home that you're checking maybe your your camera your ring camera you're checking your your security system before you go to the house make sure somebody didn't cross through your yard that shouldn't be make sure your lights are on make sure your cell phones are charged make sure you if you pick up the phone you can contact communicate with somebody um we would like you if you're in that area to maybe suspend your activities and we talked about a little bit NY about going out and hunting like deer hunting or maybe hunting at night you know uh stay away from those areas don't be riding ATVs in those areas don't be hiking and canoeing down close to Rock Castle River give us some time to see if we can locate Mr couch in this national forest and and it's a big Forest y'all saw photos I've sent you videos this is not a small area and uh this is not this is not like going across the road looking in the woods and and finding somebody this is the national forest this is thousands and thousands of Acres where Mr couch could have went and we have no evidence at this time that Mr couch is has left there we have answered thousands of complaints not only in this area other counties other states and all over state of Kentucky if a complaint comes in we're going to investigate it we want those complaints to come in because we never know the smallest little tip what it's going to lead to so please the citizens of Kentucky and Laurel County and Rockcastle County continue to call us and give us this information we're going to come out and investigate it none of it's came to tuition at this time nothing's came true but the next one might the next one WIP so keep calling them in and we're going to investigate them and as is the search if it gets broader it just gets broader if we have to take it somewhere else and Technology takes it somewhere else we're going to investigate it but at this time there's nothing that we have came up with to say Mr couch has left those woods there's nothing to say he's got in a car there's so many people that's got eyes on this investigation around the world that by now we should have got a pretty good tip that he has exited the woods we have not got that so our main focus is to remain in those woods until we find him and some people say well what if he's what if he's not alive anymore well we're going to stay in the woods till we find him and you know that's our job if he's dead or alive it's our job to try to find him and that's what we're going to do uh I want to thank you all the media y all you all been great uh I I asked you once uh yesterday about emailing and texting and calling keep doing it I will try my best get back with you I can't get back to all of you but I will try to get back to you on a timely matter maybe it's just a little text to tell you hey we got a meeting here at three o'clock or or or what we're going to do and I know you have people that come in and reli you all that maybe not get that information but just give them my number and I will do my best to keep them informed of what's going on but you all have done an excellent job I mean this is we don't want this publicity in Laurel County we don't want this we want you to pack up and go home to your fames do we want to go home to our families but we couldn't do it without you all so thank you all again for helping us with our jobs and U let me reiterate the Kentucky State Police is here for the man hunting to capture and apprehension of Mr couch so at this time I'll open up for any questions for me and if you have anything involved in the Criminal part of this investigation you can ask uh the sheriff um or anybody on this stage if you have a question for them but this time I'll answer any questions that you have I know you don't know this yet but given what you do know what are the odds he's dat alive in your opinion well my opinion doesn't count I I I have 10,000 opinions and it changes daily um you know it was a lot hotter today um I hope he doesn't have water I hope he doesn't have food and I hope he's just he's wore out and eventually he'll walk out of them Woods that that's what I hope happens and we'll let the judicial system handle him as they seem fit and everybody goes home safely to their families the note said he plan to kill himself do you what do you make of that I don't know know what you're talking about if he is dead does that do you believe that that would make it easier for you guys to find him quicker than if he was alive or how does that work well if if if it continues to be hot outside and he has passed away you know um nature takes care of itself I mean you can see a lot of things from the air and a lot of times buzzards start to fly and uh if if your body is decaying out there that that could help in this investigation and not saying that it will happen but that's that's human life it it's revolving that stuff happens just like an animal that passes away in the woods you're not aware of the yes yes ma'am I was F Wild you know there is a river down there um and um it's not way up but it is up pretty good and they've got access to boats and and and stuff like that and they've got technology too um you know they're constantly in in the woods um and they have technology that we're using plus just boots on the ground you know relieving our Troopers and our deputies that are um you know if I took off walking right here and walked a mile I'd be a little out of breath but I took off walk in here and it's straight up and straight down and I'm falling over rocks and through uh you know briers and thickets it's a little different kind of walk so just having the manpow to to relieve somebody uh you know they've helped tremendously along with all the other agencies you're you're not aware of the the text that he supposedly sent that said he plan to kill a lot of people at least try and then kill himself I am aware of that that's something that the sheriff I asked you at the beginning the sheriff would have to to explain on that that stuff I'm here for the apprehension and The Manhunt but you can ask that question to the sheriff yeah can I was just trying to see what what you guys make of that if you thought he was serious about that um what that tells you about State of Mind is anybody can anybody address that part of it we are aware of that uh but like I say this is a continuing investigation and uh that's been collected and handed over to the proper Authority us to go through phones and stuff uh and and really right now we we can't elaborate a whole lot on the evidence that's been collected can you tell us anything about if you've been to his home and collected anything from his computer or if any of that gave you any kind of clue as to what his State of Mind is where he might be or what his intentions might be I can tell you that we have been to the home and evidence has been collected but I can't elaborate no further on that sir do you still believe you acted alone at this time we have have no reason to believe uh otherwise uh it's still being investigated as the investigation continues I'm sure New Leads will develop uh but at this time um just in in terms of the tracking have you guys been able to to use dogs and can you tell us what kind of help that's been to you if that's provided anything that has been helpful with all thank you yes sir we have used several K9 dogs U not only in our agency but outside agencies they have came in and they have helped with this and you know when it comes to a point in time um you know we have we have people that want to volunteer uh we got to make sure that they're proper U make sure they're equipped make sure you know we just can't put somebody out there because I'm I got a good blood hound and they're climbing up in woods and they get hurt you know we got to put people that that are trained for this and trained for this terrain uh we don't want to make a another tragedy out of something so we have to make sure the right people come to assist us now we'll take all the help we can get it's got to be the right help speaking of help can you talk about reward poti quadrupling since this began you know we we have Crim Stoppers uh in Laurel County that has donated quite a bit of funding to this and we've had a lot of private donors uh I think in this maybe this community and surrounding communities um that have donated money some want to stay stay Anonymous and that's their right but we thank them because you know some somebody might have a tip they just don't want to tell us and maybe you know $25,000 will help them that tip and uh you know if it if that tip is great you know crimes Stoppers will will help them and we've also had other crimes Stoppers like Bluegrass Crim Stoppers that that has helped us spread the word you know because he might not be in our community he might got out of here um and you never know somebody might see somewhere in another town and that's why we're investigating those other tips at other locations any credible tips that have assisted with either the sech or investigation we have got we've got a lot of tips that that that are still under investigation um that we are looking into and and this stuff comes in fast I mean it's moving fast and we have you know the ATF and the Secret Service and not excuse me not the Secret Service but US Marshals and ATF you know they're using their computer software stuff and trying to figure out technology um where information is and stuff like that uh so information is going so broad so fast and just collecting all together to help in this investigation where where it leads to you know say he he has got out of the woods you know like everybody wanted to know yesterday uh has he got a car and drove off you know we want to find out if he may contact somebody and at this time none of those have led anywhere in a previous mentioned that can't roll out if he has another weapon have you been able to figure out what if any weapons are registered in his name that he might have with him at this time I I do not know that if he has another weapon um you know the ATF has has ran him to see if he how many weapons he has has purchased or has in his name and um we don't know you know he could have bed a weapon or found a weapon um you know we we don't know that right now we know he committed a a harsh cruel act of violence and we got to consider him armed in dangerous until we located do you know the time text and he actually went out you know what that timeline was did he have a was this planned ahead or was it just right I will refer to the sheriff on that part you repeat that sir I was wondering how much time between the time he the tax and actually went out and did it was there we we have that down to the minute but I'd really rather not discuss that at this time just because of the continued investigation is there any indication he he took Provisions with him or plan for a longer stay in the woods that you've been able to find so far we have U received information uh that we have checked on um we really can't confirm that at this time you know we' there's several pieces that we've uh that we have investigated and U he uh We've recovered a lot of things a lot of different things that's pertinent in the investigation that I can't reveal to you uh that's about all I can tell you right now at this Pointes I'm sorry do you think schools should continue to cancel as the man continues well you know they' chose to and that's strictly I've spoken to a lot of superintendant and Personnel at the different schools and U they've chose to do that just as a safety precaution you know uh we can't advise the as Scotty said yesterday we can't ADV the superintendent on what action to take that's solely up to them a lot of businesses maybe you know they're doing outside drive-throughs only and locking the doors and that's just a precaution you know if anybody wants to take a precaution that's that's really left up to them we're not butting nothing out on it well the first night of the of the shooting and the next day uh we did locate items that the sheriff's department and them had collected and some of those items is is it's part of the evidence but it's also some of the reasons we're still remaining in the woods because we have nothing to say hey let's go outside of the woods because we think that's where he's at due to some of that that evidence now I can't get into the evidence that was collected or found um but you know we're going to stay in there until we find him until stuff takes us to another Direction and and I believe the citizens you know if we just packed up the citizens of of Lower River Road Rock Castle County they expect us to stay there as long as we can until we come to resolve to find you know Mr couch or till we prove that he is not no longer there and um you know that's why we do this job is to protect the citizens you what ma'am is there anything you know in the investigation part of it uh I can't I can't answer to that you know the sheriff's department has done a great job um they working with us and our partners um I think the technology that we've got that's been coming to us and um the the use of the more helicopters we're going over a more vast area and more drones coming there you got to look you you get a drone oh it's fancy a drone W last about hour or so up in the woods and when you're covering such a big area and that battery don't last long you had to bring it in to charge it and just like a helicopter you got to bring it in and get fuel in it and at night time it's not safe to have you know officers in the woods uh tromping around when they can't even see you know five feet in front of them I've sent video out you've seen and that's probably a very I mute video of really where they're going I mean that's uh they didn't have the pictures of the cliffs and the the the falloffs and stuff U so it's um we're in a short period and especially with our helicopters you know um if you know that area if you drive through there in the morning what from about to about 10:30 there's fog it's a real thick fog area so us getting up in the air at certain times you know um our time crunched a little bit but um we're going to take all the help we can get we're going to continue to to try to locate Mr couch until something tells us we need to go a different direction and I want to continue to thank you all you all asked great questions and and some of them you know we can't answer because it's part of the investigation but some of them we can and we want you to relay this stuff to the the community and um if I can answer anything else I will if not we'll conclude this interview our ground teams you know they're they're like snails they're going very slowly to make sure they don't leave anything unturned um you know it might be a a tree that's knocked over and doesn't look right when it's knocked over or something a a piece of trash on the ground or candy bar wrapper anything like that I mean we have to collect those and because that might be part of the evidence um the helicopter now they can get up and they can look at a large distance and you know the U the drones not as much as a helicopter but we cover a lot of ground with the helicopters can you tell us about any the technology on those helicopters are they using that or that body heat that sort of thing and this time of year do the leaves interfere with that or have it been helpful well right now like you you said it the leaves it's real thick it's there's leaves are not it's not really got cold enough to start the leaves start you know falling right now so uh it's very green it's it's like a jungle like I said it's pretty thick out there so they do have some hard times looking down but we've got several um with spotters up there that are they're constantly looking now they'll see every animal in the world you know U running around we're just waiting to see somebody else that don't look like an animal running around and the flare system helps I mean it helps with the the the body heat at night time so and that's another thing a lot of people say Hey you ain't got boots on the ground or or our boots are on the ground our Troopers trust me our deputies trust me they're in the woods they're wore out you ought to see them when they come in they're ringing wet uh they are on the ground walking through these jungles and in every imaginal terrain that you could think of um and you've seen it you've seen the aerial you've seen some some of the walking uh it's not an easy task and they're doing that to make this community safer and um at night time our helicopters are flying they can Fleer they're looking for heat sources so if we see a heat source and that heat Source moving slowly or you know it's moving really really fast it's probably a deer or something like that but if it's moving slowly they're going to try their best to now start tracking that heat source and getting Troopers and deputies to that area where they find that heat Source how long do you plan on expending well we'll keep going until we're told otherwise until we can find Mr couch or until something leads us another Direction I want to thank you all and um we will we will come back tomorrow at 3 hopefully there'll be some more new leads hopefully we'll have Mr couch um detained and um thank you once again and please share this information get it out there and um maybe we bring some rest and calm to Lael County and Rock Castle County soon thank you uh back to the radar we got a we got an army chopper incoming you see that Chopper Magnolia oh it's up by white oak it's an army helicopter incoming uh probably it's it came from Frankfurt it's probably going back down to London like they they've been doing periodically drop off uh I don't know soldiers Searchers yeah so you think that they don't believe he committed suicide yeah so my take on that um my and and and um come on in everyone and give us your thoughts on what you just heard my take is you know when they asked that question it seemed like they they're not really taking that text that he was going to off himself really seriously yeah he kind of he kind of dismissed it right a little bit dismissive of that idea so they're taking it as if no evidence that he's left the scene no evidence that he's gotten into a car or vehicle they're taking that as if he's out there no sightings no sightings yeah I mean it's it's interesting on the one hand he left his gun his vehicle the ammo his phone all those things he left behind which kind of would indicate maybe he's gonna take himself out but then again the phone specifically he took the battery out so that it couldn't be tracked so that almost seems like an intentional plan to continue to evade them so it's hard to say if he's still alive or not they seem to think he is that's the way I take it I mean if anyone sees it otherwise I mean they're they're acting like they're gonna find this dude and they have an idea where he's at as far as being in the woods still yeah army's coming in as you see this is the same path that that we've been seeing multiple times from Frankfurt down to London and usually when it approaches like the Conway area it it it kind of goes blank for a minute right and then reappears yeah and the fact that they're bringing in the Army now I think it's dark they might be picking people up and bringing them back that you know did the search or it could be unrelated but I think this army chopper part of the search do you agree or disagree the armies yeah they're I think they said yesterday that they're bringing in basically they're just bringing in loads of Personnel using these helicopters but this one's really I mean is it moving what's going on uh the dark uh the darkest light thank you yeah it's I mean it's moving it's I mean it's moving you know through that Daniel Boom Forest right before it um yeah it's moving it's kind of slow yeah I just wanted to hear the take and I didn't listen to the whole press conference that was the first time hearing it and I was just kind of looking at my screen and seeing anything else that's develop me uh I mean they asked the questions I mean I think the media has asked the the questions I I like the I like the question did you go inside his house and get any other evidence like computers or anything like that You' be able to determine if he made any like certain searches or keywords I mean any of that would be helpful and apparently they did get evidence out of his home they didn't elaborate but I would think you know computers you check the computer see if he made any Google searches how to hide how to buy something you know that can indicate maybe they do have information within searches or something to indicate they have an idea that this guy is gonna do this and be out in the woods yeah I mean if they don't find him the mystery will always be as he's still alive I mean if they don't find him and they end up you know not searching anymore one they're goingon to have to explain and two the conspiracy theories are going to go wild on this one like what well I mean people in that area are gonna say a man man might be alive out in the woods and get you you know and it' be like something you tell your kids or something like that elim in the area and say don't go out there mean you mean like an urban legend like a legend yeah no I mean yeah or people might think he's still alive yeah and living out in the woods it could go that way I mean it just if they if they never find him I can see that you know it could be one of those things like I dare you to go into the Daniel Boon Forest you never know if the active shooter will be there no exactly exactly so I I I I think you got to find this dude or I mean why wouldn't you be able to find the body I mean it is the needle on the Hy stack but I'm sure they got their trackers and everything like that plus he said something about buzzards and everything like that so that's another thing to consider too the the the birds and the and the buzzards you know a body out there and Bobby flies and all types of crazy stuff right yeah that would be I mean if there's buzzards flying around a certain area it seems like that would be where they'd look what's this yellow Point Ranch game up land hunting I yeah I just feel like this helicopter is going very slow I think it's gonna vanish shortly like it did before I think the last ones once it got to the Hickory Grove kind of costal search a little bit South the last ones the last few ones I've seen this multiple times it vanishes so we'll see what happens here yellow Point Ranch game and upload but it'll go a little bit further south to the uh Hickory Grove Pentecostal search by Copper Creek Campground and then the chopper seems to be Vanishing it did it last a few times so we'll see if it happens that time now but we'll definitely uh continue with this case you know any other available information I'm sorry you residents of low County if you're watching I'm sorry you're going through this I can't imagine especially because it's so disruptive the schools are closed still it's just you know that's what I was saying like this is why they call it domestic terrorism because his actions were not just what happened on the interstate that day it's still happening he's still terrorizing a community the kids can't even go to school and now this is 72 hours into it oh I'm sure the kids are kind of loving it probably yeah I mean they had their whole summer but yeah right the kids some kids probably are happy but a lot of kids like going to school so um but yeah it's disruptive to their education and didn't didn't we also see that some Churches had to be closed on Sunday so it's just a disruption to society in general and it's just still going on Chopper moving again let's see if it goes uh let's see if it goes silent at the uh around the Copper Creek Campground Hickory Grove Pentecostal church it's it's moving very very slow uh it's at 1625 feet 118 knots I'm wondering what it's up to see but this is more North see the question is as this guy you know this guy go towards his house or has any intention to go back home now I'm not so sure I just don't know I don't know I mean there's no there has been no like hint nothing has been hinted out yeah Michael said he'd like to know what his mom's been doing doing yeah we were wondering about if they have officers assigned to his house like in that area to see if he might pop up um or just to kind of keep an eye on what the family's doing so I wouldn't be surprised to to learn that the mom is is helping him in some way Chopper went vanished yeah that's what they do they sort of hover for a while and here's here's a 911 call Magnolia too on another for the I75 shooting suspect continues as law enforcement officials have declared state of emergency in Laurel County good evening and thank you for joining us I'm Andrea Walker and I'm Marvin Bartlett the reward continues to increase for information that lead could lead to the arrest of this man Joseph couch he's accused of firing 20 to 30 rounds with an AR style gun onto a busy stretch of highway Saturday night at least 12 cars were hit by bullets and five people were injured we continue our team coverage of this man hunt in moral County Ali rout is live again in London with where authorities believe couch could be tonight Ally the multiple law enforcement agencies that are involved in this Manhunt are now on their fourth day searching the Daniel Bo national forest for couch they are asking the community to stop all activities and stay away from the search area until further notice out of safety concerns the US forest service is closing shawi Trace National Recreation Trail between us 421 and Kentucky 192 to support the search law enforcement officials say this is an all Hands-On deck situation to try to find couch KSP Trooper Scotty Pennington says the forest is very difficult to sift through due to how dense the area is he says it's thousands of acres and similar to navigating a jungle while investigators have looked into multiple tips with potential leads they say there's no concrete evidence that couch has left the forest area near Exit 49 there's so many people that's got eyes on this investigation around the world that by now we should have got a pretty good tip that he has exited the woods we have not got that so our main focus is to remain in those woods until we find him and some people say well what if he's what if he's not alive anymore well we're going to stay in the woods till we find him and you know that's our job if he's dead or alive it's our job to try to find him the reward for finding couch is now up to $35,000 law enforcement officials encourage the community to continue sending in their tips that may help and at the top of the hour I'll explain some of the technology that she's starting to go num and she's starting to black out any of the first well in our top story tonight at 5 we're now 72 hours into the search for Joseph couch authorities say couch open fire near Exit 49 on I75 in Laurel County with an AR-15 hitting 12 cars and injuring five people on Saturday again drones helicopters search dogs and Crews from federal state and local agencies all helping in the search at Daniel Boone National Forest and we now go to ABC 36 is Anna Medina she's in Laurel County and Anna authorities say they will continue the search until they're told otherwise well authorities earlier today in op pressor reiterating that their main concern is keeping the public safe but also encouraging the community to call them if they have any kind of tip whether big or small and now the reward leading to an arrest of couch has been increased to $35,000 make sure you're being vigilant wanted suspect Joseph couch has been on the Run since late Saturday as officials continue their search for his whereabouts they also will ask for patience from the community as they continue their search into Daniel Boon National Forest which is vast and thick this is the national forest this is thousands and thousands of Acres where Mr couch could have went and we have no evidence at this time that Mr couches has left there also advising the public to try to stay away from the area at least for now we would like you if you're in that area to maybe suspend your activities and we talked about a little bit NY about going out and and hunting like deer hunting or maybe hunting at night you know uh stay away from those areas when asked about expanding the search to other areas KSP says so our main focus is to remain in those woods until we find him and some people say what if he's what if he's not alive anymore well we're going to stay in the woods till we find him Pennington adding that he hopes couch has no other choice but to give in to authorities I hope he doesn't have water I hope he doesn't have food and I hope he's just he's wore out and eventually he'll walk out of them Woods as for the potential of having another weapon at this time I I do not know that if he has another weapon um you know the ATF has has ran him to see if he he how many weapons he has has purchased or has in his name and um we don't know you know he could have borrowed a weapon or found a weapon um you know we we don't know that now if you have any information or any tip that you think could lead authorities to the arrest of couch you're encouraged to call KSP post 11 or Crime you know if you're if you're in the area and you want to see kind of an idea maybe where they're at might give a clue listen to the scanner and uh you know listen to your local authorities be be safe out there stay vigilant I wouldn't go out there in those woods out there in Daniel Boon right now um and if anything else breaks or anything else comes on this we'll we'll share with you on jlr
