welcome back to cut day media let's get right on into it Jackson State head football coach TC Taylor has just announced who will be leading the Tigers as qb1 for their season opener against University of Louisiana Monroe with ULM being an FBS program this matchup is set to be a major test for Jackson State right out of the gate so let's hear directly from coach Taylor as he breaks down his decision and his thoughts on the upcoming challenge you know the one thing that I can say at quarterback Jacobi and Morgan will get the call you know this Thursday night but you know we're still you know uh evaluating some guys on offense defense special teams that can uh see who gonna be able to help us but it is some bright spots out there going into this week speaking of jacoban what's the biggest way you've seen him grow since the last game of last year leadership you know leader uh developing as a leader you know he played some football before we got him here but you know he's really um starting to play a lot of football now this is a big year for him he understands it um got better reading defenses I thought you know the summer was critical for him developing relationships with the the receiver room that's why summer was so important for him but he's gotten better in all those aspects of the game you found it easier preparing for game one this year as opposed to last year uh definitely definitely you know being that first year you know you just you know a lot of uh unex just unexpected you don't don't really know what's going to happen but now I'm kind of settled in you know I'm settled in know what I want this football team to look like offensively defens uh defensively and special team so you know no butterflies over here opportunity for y'all to put the nation on notice as well as a the slack heading into this new season mhm oh no doubt no doubt if we're going to win you know we're going down there to play football and we our expectation is to win the football game no matter you know uh them being a FBS school you know um they had a lot of change though you know they had a lot of change I think they lost their last 10 games of the uh last year um but we we can't take that light though we not taking that light I told the team uh yesterday's team meeting uh you look at last year's schedule for as what ULM did you know we play play Texas State they played Texas State Texas State you know put a Molly wipping on us but uh ULM was able to hang in there and it was 2120 ball game you know so this is not going to be a pushover by any means we're going to have to play football on Thursday and there you have it coach Taylor has made his choice and Jackson state is gearing up for a tough battle against ULM this season opener will be a true test for the Tigers before you go don't forget to hit that like button subscribe and turn on notifications so you never miss a video
