INVESTIGATORS SAY THE GUNSHOTS STARTED OUTSIDE OF A HOME ON SANDALWOOD COURT AND THE VIOLENCE CONTINUED INSIDE WHERE SEVERAL MORE SHOTS WERE FIRED AS A YOUNG CHILD WAS SLEEPING. 7 ACTION NEWS REPORTER KIMBERLY CRAIG JOINING US WITH DETAILS ON THE SECOND HOMICIDE IN ANN ARBOR THIS YEAR. THE ANN ARBOR MAN LIVED HERE IN THIS TOWN HOUSE ON THE CITY'S NORTH SIDE. IT'S WHERE YOU STARTED RUNNING TOO. >> WHEN AN OLD ACQUAINTANCE OPENED FIRE ON HIM. >> IT APPEARS TO BE A AMBUSH OF OF THIS OF THE VICTIM. THE VICTIM JUST 24 YEARS OLD, SHOT AND KILLED SUNDAY NIGHT IN A BEDROOM NEXT TO WHERE HIS 3 YEA-OLD SON WAS SLEEPING. I WAS WATCHING TELEVISION. >> I AND I WAS WAS LIKE, WHAT IS THAT? THIS. CAN YOU SHOTS. THE DEADLY AMBUSH HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER 10 SUNDAY NIGHT. >> ON SANDALWOOD THIS NIXON IN PLYMOUTH ROADS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF ARBOR. POLICE SAY THE VICTIM'S GIRLFRIEND WHO IS THE TODDLER'S MOTHER MANAGED TO ESCAPE AS THE GUNMAN CONTINUED TO GO AFTER THE VICTIM. HE FOLLOWED HIM INTO HIS INTO HIS BEDROOM UPSTAIRS INTO HIS BEDROOM, CONTINUING TO FIRE. THANKFULLY, OFFICERS WERE IN THE AREA AND ABLE TO RESPOND QUICKLY AND NOT KNOWING IF THE GUNMAN WAS STILL INSIDE WITH THE CHILD. THEY WASTE NO TIME GOING IN. THEY GEARED UP WITH THEIR WITH THEIR HEADED IN THERE, NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS GOING TO WAIT FOR THEM. ON THE OTHER SIDE, THE DOOR OFFICERS WERE ABLE TO LOCATE THE SUSPECT IN THE CROWD THAT GATHERED IN THE PARKING HE'S A 22 YEAR-OLD MAN WHO LIVES IN THE BUILDING NEXT TO THE VICTIM. WE'RE TOLD THEY'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. POLICE NOW TRYING TO DETERMINE A MOTIVE. NEIGHBORS CAN'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE VICTIM WAS TARGETED ASSIST A BIG HERO. YOU SEE HIM DO IS WORK AND COME HOME. HE DIDN'T REALLY COME OUT. DIDN'T. ALI DID WAS WORK AND COME HOME. SO IT WILL SITUATION. A POLICE CANINE LED OFFICERS TO WHAT MAY BE THE FIREARM USED IN THE KILLING. >> THE SUSPECT REMAINS LOCKED UP PENDING CHARGES. I KNOW THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF VIOLENCE. >> KNOW, INCREASED VIOLENCE.
