ever in Tiger stadium how are we feeling today Tate oh I'm feeling great I mean I my favorite part about coming to these games is you know the football's great the team's great I like the fans I like the people watching there's tons of families tons of kids out here just having a blast yeah it's awesome super excited to have an instate school one that I have some very close ties to most of my family being from Tibido I'm super excited for this game tonight glad to be back in Tiger stadium let's take a quick flashback I promise we'll make it quick last week LSU did take a loss to USC 20 to 27 there were multiple mistakes that they made in that game that they weren't allowed to come away with that win in Las Vegas Tate what do they need to do today to ensure that they get into the win column well with the Tigers back in Action today it's pretty clear that there are three main things LSU needs to focus on in order to come out with a win today let's check it out after a neck and neck game against USC LSU looks to bounce back in week two against Nicholls and ultimately keep their playoff hopes live the first key to making this happen is to eliminate one of the biggest problems on the field last Sunday but but the thing that that is is most um concerning for me are the personal files the the the the penalties that U are selfish while some penalties and personal fouls may be small and others may be detrimental all of the penalties ended up totaling 99 yards given up to USC on opening night moving on to the second key of the game LSU's defense was a big question mark coming into this season but the first game showed that they could have turned it around Savon Jones who got two sacks on opening night thinks that Blake Baker is the real deal defensive coordinator I feel like everybody got their trust in coach Baker and you know I feel like that trust comes because he able to connect with us you know it's not all business with him he knows when the clown with us he know when not to clown with us so I feel like as a unit we got a lot of trust in him the last key component for the Tigers to win their first home game is overall execution in the red zone and targeting top receivers like Kiren Lacy who only saw two Targets in the second half against the UFC look here's what I'm going to tell you you get inside the 15 yard line three times and you come away with six points that's going to come back and beat you and and so we can talk about Miss blocks and not executing and not doing this and not doing that we left a lot of points out there offensive coordinator Joe SLO will certainly have to draw up more plays for Kiren Lacy this weekend against Nicholls penalties the defense in the Red Zone seem to be the biggest things standing in the way of the Tigers this weekend as they take on Nicholls but we'll see how they address all that on the field I agree with all that Tate I also think they need to hit the ground running score early get ahead so on Wednesday LSU premiered the money game which includes famous athletes like Olivia Dunn Jaden Daniels and Angel Reese talking about how they handled nil and how LSU handled nil together some athletes here to compete at LSU so some of these athletes like I had mentioned including clj Johnson who will also be featured in the docu series have made millions of dollars off their name image and likeness just by being an athlete here in the bayou So Tay let's start with you I have a question if you if a Coach came up to you and said I'm going to give you this much money to come play for my team how much money would you need how much nil money would I need ah it's tough it's tough honestly I just want my tuition simple man but I mean I don't know if I'm a star player let's let's say six figures you know per year like 100,000 for how many years uh give me a nice four years contract something like that you know contract contracts okay I don't know about you guys but I believe that stars deserve to be paid like stars I don't care if it's Todd Graves Gordon McCaron whoever I need at least 250k a semester I'm buying a house I'm buying my family houses I'm doing everything I can do I'm providing for all of those who have provided for me I need my bag now let's put pin the paper that's not crazy that's not crazy cuz that's what I would want I would want the tuition that would be my first okay am I going to be on a full scholarship and then I would say let's see how I can buy a family compound maybe two or three other houses invest in some real estate cuz just saying real estate never goes away y'all so just saying and it only goes up go now there are some things that are worth more than money and possibly some of that might be spending a Saturday night in Death Valley and enjoying your time there and during LSU football games the golden band from tigerland is responsible for hyping up the crowd along with performing at halftime earlier this week I spoke with the band's drum major about what goes into preparing the band for a successful night in Tiger stadium go the golden band from tigerland rehearses for 10 hours a week before they take the field on a Saturday night in Death Valley so there's a lot of little details on game day that need to be profession Ed the band's drum major Trent mckin understands the importance of setting the tone for each performance especially in the Louisiana heat finding people before rehearsal having conversation with them asking about their day uh just make sure that they're doing all right see if they need anything before the rehearsal begins and make sure that everyone's already in a positive mindset that you're already building those positive connections so that the rehearsal goes a lot more smoothly for the Slidel native scorching temperatures does not take away from how humbled he is to have the opport to lead the marching band into Tiger Stadium so from the moment I got into band I was like that's where I need that's where I want to be I want to be in Tiger Band and so to now be in this role to do it for two years um it's unreal outside of his job as field commander mckin juggles other tasks like attending his weekly fraternity meetings and working to earn a degree in civil engineering you really have to manage your time very carefully be really smart about your time making sure that uh you know making sure that you're utilizing every hour of the day to practice and get better at something while balancing his busy schedule Makin is also working to lay the foundation for future drum majors at LSU the Legacy that I want to leave is having another drum major come in and being inspired to do the same thing that I'm doing and doing it better and just continue the success of our 130e history since 1893 drum Majors like mckin and the golden band from tiger land here's the mark time have worked hard to unite tiger fans through their music and their love for the purple down Victory Hill Tate what are you seeing I mean I see lots of excited fans I see a band marching down I see a lot of red and white uh coming down from Tibido here today absolutely one of my favorite I'm I'm GNA be a homer real quick that's my that's my people down there in Tibido they made their way up about an hour and 15 drive but as you see the best band in the land the golden band from Tiger land makes their way down Victory Hill the crowd's starting to get thick for this 6:30 p.m. kickoff let's go ahead and just take a listen to him real quick yes there are 325 members a part of the golden band from tigerland as they process down the walk down Victory Hill like those drum cadences you can hear them from Miles and Miles Away I heard him all the way in the band hall on Dow rimple Drive I it it it makes my heart sing every time I literally before football season have listened to videos just of the Tiger Band because it makes me feel like football is back and there's nothing that says football in Baton Rouge like the golden band from Tiger land right and that's really one of the most iconic parts of the Death Valley Tiger Stadium LSU football experience is hearing uh you know the band Live yeah I agree this was a difficult week for them as well as it rained a lot later in the week so they were trying to get their steps down when it came on Monday and Tuesday because they were trying to avoid the rain so it should be exciting what we see this Saturday at the halftime performance as they will be performing cartoons it will be a cartoon Saturday morning Saturday yes is anywhere else in the world I know Michigan had a good crowd earlier today there's going to be a loud crowd in Charlotte when Tennessee and NC State go at it tonight but there is nothing like a Saturday night in Death Valley adding on to that point Michael Phelps was on college game day today talking about how great Michigan was and how it's a different atmosphere and I asked myself I wonder if he has ever been to Tiger Stadium and witness a Saturday night in Death Valley but now game day is all a lot fun but there are some players who will be injured tonight and not be able to play andon you have the get Gordon injury report with absolutely Trish this week only the get Gordon injury report unfortunately is LinkedIn from last week against USC as there are five tigers that feature on this week's injury report starting with defensive end Prince Malu he suffered a torn ACL and meniscus against USC on Sunday he will be out for the remainder of the Season as well as running back John Emery Jr who tore his ACL in practice on Tuesday he will also miss the remainder of the Season wide receiver Kyle Parker suffered a UCL sprain on LSU's first drive last week he will be out this week as well as Chris Hilton who is still struggling with a bone bruise and his ankle they kept him out of the game last week and finally starting left guard Garrett delinger still in concussion protocol much Juliana LSU continues their trend of playing instate opponents in the home open as the Nicholls State Colonels come to town to open the 100th season of Tiger football in Death Valley Nicholls State head coach Tim Rebo is looking to make another run to the FCS playoffs and these early games against FBS opponents build the character exactly needed to do that the Nicholls State Colonels present a unique challenge for an LSU team looking to rebound after their week one loss to USC the colonels are coming off a loss to another FBS opponent in Louisiana Tech but there are plenty of positives for the Colonels to take away from the 25 to 17 loss as the colonels Force Five turnovers in a defensive performance that tracks with their Southland leading 16 interceptions and eight recovered fumbles last season LSU head coach Brian Kelly spoke on what his team has to do in order to attack this aggressive Colonels defense you know they're a good defense they're well coached um you know it's a team that that knows how to win you know they win a lot of football games so you know we're going to have to execute Ute uh our offense and what we do and and really concern ourselves with what uh is important uh in terms of moving the football and that is being balanced running the football and throwing the football down the field defensive coordinator Tommy rybachy will also look to cause trouble for the LSU offense and keep the colonels within Striking Distance for dynamic all Southland Conference running back Duo Colin Guggenheim and Jaylen Spears who will look to attack an LSU defense they gave up 447 yards of total offense against USC 17 starters back from last year's team um played ltech really um I thought they they did a great job I mean they had a number of turnovers made it difficult for them all day overall the 22 ranked FCS team in the nation will look to shock the world against LSU on Saturday night for Tiger TV sports I'm andon Bradham also be sure we were mentioning it's the first time LSU has ever ever played Nicholls and Tiger Stadium they have new Renovations going on but the elephant in the room is that they took a loss on Sunday to USC and a highly anticipated match up what player needs to have a big game tonight in order for them to win yeah I want to see LSU use not only their tight end room War um but specifically Mason Taylor he's a guy that's made some great plays last week not only in the pass game but also just run blocking wise uh and I think LSU is best offensively uh when they find ways to get Mason Taylor involved especially you know when you allow him within your creative plays like the triple option and when they run it so I think he's just a better player I I think he's I think LSU is a better team when Mason Taylor is on the fields right and then speaking in terms of the running back field we didn't talk about this a whole lot but John emay Jr on Tuesday is out for the year after tearing his ACL he did the same thing in November and now is in the same predicament so LSU lose a veteran running back what are you seeing from this back field from today in order to get the Run game started yeah it's going to have to come from Josh Williams and Caleb Jackson both of those guys they've been here now uh Caleb Jackson can't use the you know the the Freshman excuse anymore right and those guys didn't do so well last week so the physicality is going to have to be there from the first quarter to the fourth quarter what a great time to be able to step up as a running back as a freshman to be under that pressure and say hey I'm going to go in here and I'm going to take this under my wing four star coming out of high school why not what a better time to do that but let's talk about the defense who last year had plenty of struggles it wasn't very hard to improve this year do you have you seen Improvement for them and how much did you expect a little bit more last week or do you think that it was right where it should be well I think it's right where it should be cons All Things Considered of what happened last year right I I think getting about five to six stops is what you needed from this LSU team just to have a possibility at winning the game and they did that for you obviously there's a lot of work to you know to do in especially in that DB room right now but LSU is going to get better as repetition goes on there's a lot of young guys in that defensive back room and it's going to come with time and and learning experience and that's why tonight is very important for those guys moving forward I think so too like I said I mentioned before that they have to hit the ground running that they can play from behind I don't expect them to do that tonight but I think somebody like Garrett NM can take the team under his wing officially this week and say this is my team this is how we're going to run things and really get comfortable and get the feel for what his team should be like but looking ahead Andre as we look get into SEC play the Tigers still have to face Alabama they still have face Old Miss what is your prediction for the rest of the season for this team yeah I still with that USC loss you know losing that that first game gives you so much it it makes a team lose their energy and we've seen it Time After Time Again LSU is going to get better within the season that's just the Brian Kelly way but I think LSU is due for probably three losses this season uh I'll say n and three with a loss to Alabama for sure at home and then I have a toss up between losing to Old Miss and A&M away so so A&M what about Oklahoma because that's a game that's going to be toward the end of the season I'll give LSU the benefit of the doubt because they'll have things figured out by them okay so you think they're going to figure it out and then they'll get there now Andre today first time ever Nicholls vers LSU Death Valley like we mentioned a ton of new the other leagues not just LSU now Tate highly anticipated match up this morning Texas vers Michigan Big 10 vers the SEC right but they didn't pan out the way some fans at home no really Texas and Michigan this is the first time they played in the regular season right and uh we know Michigan they just lost JJ McCarthy he went to the NFL so they have a whole completely different offense and it kind of showed you know Texas came out 3112 and Texas they brought back Quinn ERS after it was kind of rumored that he might go to the NFL they're looking like a strong National tit title Contender this year as Matthew M might say all right all right all right but and let's talk a little bit about North Carolina State and Tennessee who will play later tonight number 24 against number 14 yeah it's a very interesting game you had a Tennessee team that really came out and did whatever they want against Chattanooga in week one and NC State really struggled they went to the wire with abalene Christian I think that this is a prime example of one team playing really well in week one and one not playing very well in week one when in reality they're a lot closer to this I think we see that level out the game in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte I think NC State's going to give Tennessee a big challenge tonight that's interesting because I think Tennessee is one of the better teams I think they should be ranked a little higher than number 14 but like you said that will be said tonight will is that true is Tennessee really the better team or does Tennessee give them a or north North Carolina State rather give them a run for their money let's switch things up a little bit we got Best Bets presented by Campus Federal now Tate the NFL season is starting it officially started on Thursday but we have a long list of games that will begin on Sunday who do you have I think you're going down to New Orleans is that right my favorite match match up I'm looking at is obviously the the Louisiana team the Saints versus the Panthers and uh you know I think Derek Carr can get it done week one against the Panthers uh you know the Panthers they don't have the best receiving core they've struggled with their offensive line the past couple years I think the saints come out with a a healthy two to three touchdown win you agree you're a Saints fan yeah I'm big on the Saints this year I've got hope I've got hope I've got hope if they could just do some things right and keep what's good about the Saints good I think they have a big chance to get it done but I'm going to go in a little bit different Direction with my game I'm going to go with the Saints biggest rival I'm going to look at the Atlanta Pittsburgh Steelers game to start week one two new quarterbacks for both of these squads is Justin Fields gets the start for Pittsburgh as Russell Wilson's dealing with a c injury and Kirk Cousins first game over piles tear starting for the Atlanta Falcons after signing a big contract for them in the off season that's a super interesting game for me Raheem Morris New Atlanta Falcons head coach and Mike Tomlin who is the last to the Old Guard here in the NFL coaching world I'm going to go with the Steelers to get it done I think they're more efficient I think they are they know what they are and I think that that's going to get them done against Atlanta you mentioned hope hope is what keeps a lot of fans going so let's talk a little bit about the Giants and the Vikings not necessarily saying that these could be two bad teams but our producer David bartholomy is a Giants fan so that might be one of the reasons I picked this one Daniel Jones there's always some questions surrounding him there has been for the last four to five years and then you have Sam darnold who will be on the other end as JJ McCarthy like you mentioned before is out for the season after hurting himself so let's get into it I think the Vikings are going to take this one away why Justin Jefferson no offense to Malik neighbors but Justin Jefferson has proved time and time again that he can go out there and he can win football games he's the real de exactly different quarterback it would be a little different with Sam darnold out there but I still think that if it gets to it just throw it right Justin's got to be out there somewhere down there somewhere he's got to be down there somewhere and then also with that Aaron Jones is now with the Minnesota Vikings so he makes a difference in the back field Devin single with the Giants not to say that he's a bad running back I just think that Aaron Jones has a lot more weight to that back and a point on Aaron Jones I think that was one of the sneaky more underrated free agency moves that happened this off season but I think Aaron Jones is going to have a huge huge impact for this Vikings team I think he adds a different dimension that they haven't really had since dvin cook was back there in healthy I think Aaron Jones is going to be big for Minnesota this year so we're all agreeing then on Sunday we might have to text David and ask him if he is all right I I think we might have to text you if you're all right as
