consider it a great blessing to play in the most passionate Sports Town in America the sense of urgency in this city to win has pushed our organization has fueled it to take chances fixed problems and work tirelessly in an effort to win so this all brings us here to today where I announce that I am retiring where I announce I'm retiring from the NFL after 13 Seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles thank you Philadelphia for letting me represent this city and allowing me into your homes every Sunday I won't forget Nick serani sending me kegs beer to convince me to keep playing these last few years he knows the key to my heart I won't forget making the playoffs in his first season the Super Bowl in his next and the immense heartbreak at the collapse of this last season sometimes the flowers get knocked back a bit but the roots remain and I can't wait to watch what re blossoms this next season that field to the left over there and everything to the right that's all ours a lot of them are corn soybean operations and some people put up wheat alphaalpha and there's some dairy farms around here but for the most part it's just corn soybeans and then some Farmers have cattle as well oh that fresh cut alphaalpha is not a better smell yeah I think there's a wait to taking over that Center position for Kelsey because he's been there for so long and not just him but all the linemen that's been through the Eagles there's a tradition there you know since when is the center the most popular person in the state you know everybody knows Jason Kelce but at the same time you know I'm I'm never worried about trying to live up to a legacy you know this is this is my legacy these are my shoes that I'm filling and you know I'm going to go out there and do the best I can every day and I I know I'm going to work hard and I'm going to worry about what I can do and not how I can be the best replacement for someone that is retired and someone that means so much to the city can you break the saquin to the eagle stuff yet or no so there are guys out there getting paid saquin Remains the top player at the position the Eagles heavily linked to them but two hours in sequ to the Eagles certainly has a lot of momentum yeah we got Citizens Bank Park over here Lincoln Financial Field over there and then to the right is our practice field and our facility oh we here yeah we're here so we're pull around the corner and we'll P right in breaking news from rap sheet Giant star running back saquan Barkley is planning to sign with the Eagles there it is bang There It isang bang that's what we do around here they got wow any sper New York here I love it how's everyone doing my reaction was you know I was super happy that I had an opportunity to come back and stay close to home and uh play for a great team and you know it's a blessing that uh for Thanksgiving or Christmas I can go right to my mama house or we can go to Nana's house my kids could see their grandparents my kids could see their aunts and uncles and cousins so uh that was important and um I'm just happy just happy to be here I'm happy to you know be a filer V Eagle thanks thank you guys you got a question Jayden what's your question don't be shy now thank you guys how the hell do I do this [Music] yeah since last time you guys called up made a contract been real busy that you guys to see where where is this supposed to be at I haven't put a bite together in like a long time I used to do this actually as a kid I was like a skater biker kind of person when I was like 8 to like 11 so I was like we would jump off of stairs and I Ali off of like a 3 four 5 six however I mean this one was only like five was only like five steps uh but like there was like a kid there was like a grown man actually me and my friends were like jumping off of it and we were having a hard time Landing it and he was like if someone lands it I'll give him $100 and like I went up there and like I stuck The Landing I guess and like at that time when you're 8 n years old $100 is life [Music] changing I was blessed to be in a situation when I did hit free agency to have a few teams that we're interested and your family plays the biggest role in it but you take your pros and cons of you know we had three places that we really loved obviously feel being one cuz this don't fit there it goes so that was like the the big piece of why it was so much easier to come here because like when you checked off on all the pros and the cons like this fly aligned with everything that what we wanted to do for football um for after football and and for my family being closer to where you know I was at for most of my most of my life and Anna too Anna's family is from here too and so we both went to Penn State so all those went into play Not Just football but it's like okay where do we feel like would be best for our family and it's like do you want to go to this place or you want to go to this place or you want to go right down the road uh we stay close to our family and we can go compete for Championship can I come down again actually you can come down it's perfect timing what were you guys doing I got you a surprise what cool oh you like it it's a Disney bike I love Disney Princesses what who's your favorite Disney Princess um my favorite is Repunzel Rapunzel why um because I like her long hair her long hair want go for a ride outside the work ethic is number one you can always work and get better and growing up on a farm we always had so much love and respect for our animals and we had to protect them cows like they're our own and I guess it goes beyond that when you're playing a sport where all you do is protect people it was easy to have work ethic and I think without knowing it I just brought that to the football field or basketball court or wherever it was especially the weight room I was I was a really hard worker and it was easy because I had that work e I think from being in the farm and those long hot summer days and there's no off dates look at that [Laughter] flow oh yeah just ton of memories from this town it's just one of those places where you know who lives in every freaking house there's a lot of stuff to do around here I just had a I had a really good group of friends so I grew up you know in a really good area yeah so this is our high school I think I did about every sport growing up and you know in high school football basketball track and field those are my three Sports yeah so these are a lot of my classmates here's me right here I got a lot of stuff on this thing 2015 2016 2017 2018 St Champion discus 2016 2017 2018 state champion shot put 2017 Omaha World heral male athlete of the year so that's what it says for mine no academics on there just Athletics this is all the pictures of all our state championships and I was a part of one of them for uh 2018 boys track and field Champions I won Shan D that year I'm right here and you can see my Mom right in the back she was my distance coach my last three years so I played all my high school football games here and this is also where a track and field is yeah there's a lot of memories The discus and shot putut rings are on that end of the field it's where I did most of my damage when they first started this football field they just had this one ring in over here and the other over there but I was throwing it too far I was throwing it over the fence it wasn't far enough back and nobody else was throwing it that far so my mom had to talk to him about putting a new ring in so they had to put two new rings in um just so I could throw at meets here Big Time Track lot of I think that was a District track meet there that he ended up making it to state so well I just remember his senior year when he had a broken leg and he he couldn't even play until early that spring and made it to state made it to State and won State on let's go Bud 59 ft 1/2 inch work he had some perseverance he had Focus whatever he did and then we got played football remember when he was just yeah that's probably his first picture with the Husker but then to think he went from 2 3 years old to play for the Huskers for 4 years was pretty impressive I wish I had more time off during the fall during football cuz you know Harvest is my favorite time of the year I got so many memories are going out there when I was a little tyke i' ID get on my little four-wheeler and I'll would drive up to the house my grandma would load a cooler of food and drinks and I would have to bring it out to my grandpa and the combine or wherever my dad was and and so I started out doing little things and then I grew up and started running the combine or running the tractor with the green card and I always had a football on me and I would play catch with my dad or my uncle or my brother and I would just run around the fields throwing playing catch with whatever relative was there that would play catch with me and you know my love of sports started on the farm and and that was the most fun I had was during Harvest being seeing all the family around and you know going out there working till the sun goes down and then when the sun did go down we all got together and had dinner together and it was just a lot of fun where where's saquon's bike all right we're going to go ride a bike outside momy that's what we were doing this is what it looks like a that that's amazing your you got your bike too you can ride your bike outside with Jay you don't need this what's your name no really everything he's just been the most amazing partner to me and most amazing father and his love for me and the children is just the biggest blessing in my life and it reflects in everything he does in the community and with other children um it's a beautiful thing to see and I hope that other people see it too hey excuse me Daddy excuse me yeah oh my God he's dead I got you T don't run into him it's it's just crazy we're getting adjusted and I'm just like I have to wrap my head around all the new changes and everything but this year's and the years to come are going to be amazing I know it and I just think it's the change that we needed and I couldn't be more excited e e a g l e f eag [Music] I mean it's the Philadelphia Eagles it's an amazing place and when you get here you know what the mindset is I got to see from outside looking in how special this place even is when you win so I just want to be a part of that I'm going try my best to go out there every single day and compete and try to win football games you know I don't think I would want to play for a team that doesn't care and if you're not playing good tell me I'm not playing good and that's how it should be because this means too much for the people that live in the city and you want the players to have play with a lot of grit and a lot of passion a lot of energy the Eagles are the number one ticket in town the most talked about thing at nearly every moment as players you write the narratives You Will Be Loved by going above and beyond to show that you care if you show effort aggression desire the will to fight you go above and beyond like in this city you will be rewarded Ed Beyond Your Wildest Dreams
