[Music] are you or someone you know a direct TV subscriber angry that you're unable to watch the sports that you paid to be able to enjoy wondering whether or not this is Direct TV or Disney at fault folks while we cannot bring the sports back for you nor the rest of the Disney bundle we can tell you that the fumble here belongs squarely on the shoulders of the House of Mouse and in this video we will prove to you that all of this is because Disney intends to destroy destroy direct t hello ladies and gentlemen welcome to the place that brings you the receipts as we explain entertainment keep you ahead of the culture curve yes we believe in the truth of the capital T and today we're going to give it to you as best as we can in regards to the carriage dispute that is preventing many of you out there from enjoying Sports and so much more Direct TV subscribers all across North America in excess of 10 million in excess of 11 million of you out there 11 million plus households unable to enjoy those channels and many of you are very very angry about this and unsure by the way who is to be blamed folks as we dive into today's content consider clicking the like button and we'll get underway showing you definitively what is going on we begin our journey today of explaining to you Disney's ultimate plan of destroying Direct TV we begin with the Verge it's by Wes Davis it says Disney and Direct TV head into a big Sports weekend with no Carriage deal days into Disney's latest Channel back uh blackout it and Direct TV point out other ways to see NFL and US Open coverage let's get into this right here negotiations for new Carriage deal between Disney and Direct TV are continuing into this weekend reports deadline meanwhile the two are lobbing messaging at customers who are left out in the cold as the first NFL weekend kicks off and college football on the day of release for this video it's been a week since Direct TV cons customers have been able to watch Channels like ABC or ESPN Disney published sports or posts on Instagram and elsewhere variety wrote pointing Direct TV viewers to Alternatives like Spectrum or Disney's own Hulu with live TV subscriptions to watch things like the US Open tennis tournament or the upcoming Monday Night Football game between the Jets and the 49ers now folks to clarify something here The reason I believe that Disney is not simply saying hey come on join us on Hulu is because well then they might be open to a lawsuit but you can be guaranteed they want people going over to Hulu they're offering Spectrum to say no no no we're not doing this just to drive people to our service last week Disney accused Direct TV of an agreement that undervalues our portfolio while Direct TV insisted that Disney is just trying to maximize customers expense now all of this folks comes down to the fact that Disney wants all of their channels bundled together and they want you to P pay a premium so if you are a direct TV subscriber if uh this goes through if this deal goes through the way that Disney wants it your bill is going to go way way up because Disney wants to make more money off of you in the future now out of ESPN you can see that ESPN directly now telling people how to get around the Direct TV blackout if they are a direct TV subscriber this substantially weakening the Direct TV leverage that they might have and here are some examples of what it says it says how can I still watch ESPN with the direct uh Disney Direct TV blackout if you don't have cable access to ESPN right now you can get instant access to ESPN content through a variety of services including Hulu Plus live TV fubo and sling but Hulu Plus is where Disney makes the money uh how many channels are affected by the Disney Direct TV blackout the conflict affects ESPN networks direct branded channels free form FX networks and National Geographic channels I just want to say one of the interesting things about this article is that they don't go ahead and specify because a lot of people don't know this hey ESPN is owned by Disney and this is an article out of ESPN telling you to go to Disney to find ESPN where you'll get uh well more so what is going on why is Direct TV stuck here and why do I say that Disney is trying to destroy them well this article from the rap I think gives us some great Insight Direct TV says Disney is trying to Corner the market for themselves amid Carriage dispute the payv giant argues that the house of Mouse's package proposals are laced with minimum penetration requirements that limit the scope and reach of what it's looking to offer let's read this and then I think you'll begin to understand what Disney is up to the war of words between Disney and Direct TV continues as the two parties Carriage dispute stretches into its fourth day in a joint statement from Disney entertainment co-chairs Dana Walden and Alan Bergman and ESPN chairman Jimmy patara on Wednesday the house of mouse accused the satellite and pay TV giant of misrepresenting facts around its ongoing negotiations the media company maintains that it has proposed a variety of packages that would allow direct TV to offer more flexibility and that's ultimately what the claim is here Direct TV let me let me just pause here let me explain this Disney is offering their own streaming services and it's a direct competitor to Direct TV and the Disney offerings are far less in expense for you to pay if you want to be a subscriber as well as you can pick and choose what you want so for example you don't have to have Disney plus you can pay for just ESPN if you just want sports but Disney is telling Direct TV and its subscribers no you cannot just pick what we offer on our side because that is our competitive Advantage right so you have to take this all bundled together and we're going to charge you a premium for all of this now here's what it says our priority is to reach a Marketplace deal that serves the needs of Direct TV and their customers while Al recognizing the value of our top quality content and the significant investment required to create and acquire it the executive set as by the way they are direct competitors to Direct TV we believe there is a path to a fair and flexible agreement that strikes this critical balance and works for all sides especially the consumer however Direct TV Chief content officer Rob th pushed back against Disney's letter on Wednesday calling the package proposal a Hal truth and that they are actually engaged in Behavior focused on cornering the market for themselves which is what they want of course says in the skinnier bundles they were going to afford only themselves really any runway on the sports and broadcast package and they gave us a flavor of entertainment that is laced with these minimum penetration requirements which ironically is not what they gave to Charter which they told us firsthand and they're not letting us participate in the kids and family package that we put on the table to them because they want to keep that for themselves I.E Disney plus by the way when they bring this up Direct TV saying this folks the deal is that Charter got what Charter wanted they hosed Disney last year Disney doesn't intend to be hosed again Disney wants to hose these companies Disney wants to destroy these companies as they believe they can annihilate linear TV and they can C take over with streaming and that seems to by the way be true how do I how do we know that it's uh true we'll take a look here out of Forbes from Brad adgate YouTube TV is forecasted to be the largest pay TV distributor in 2026 and despite that headline being a very big deal it is not the biggest deal that we need to pay attention to take a look at the second paragraph YouTube TV was launched in 2017 and has experienced steady subscriber growth at the end of 2023 YouTube TV reported more than 8 million subscribers making it the fourth largest payv distributor behind Charter Comcast and Direct TV Charter and Comcast each have about 14.1 million pay TV subscribers satellite TV provider Direct TV is the third largest with 11.3 now here's the deal though Direct TV had about 18 million subscribers just a few years ago they're dropping precipitously and why are they dropping subscribers precipitously because people are moving to streaming and why are people moving to streaming because they can pick and choose what they want you don't have to pay these huge amounts that you have to pay for cable TV or for satellite TV Disney is offering you Disney Plus for 10 bucks 12 bucks 20 bucks whatever it is and the same is true for the other streaming services and then simultaneous what is Disney doing to Direct TV now Disney is saying no you are not allowed to take and pick and choose what you want you're going to take our entire offerings we're going to cut out the best that we have save that for Disney plus and then you're going to pay a premium which by the way will cause you to be uncompetitive with us thereby you're going to line our pockets as we make you be bankrupt that's what's happening that's why you don't have your sports right now and if you're wondering why won't Direct TV just saddle up and pony up and pay because it's existential Direct TV if they make this agreement it's only going to hasten their ultimate demise they are fighting an existential battle to be in the market in five years they don't want to be red boxed they don't want to be seared they don't want to be Toys are Us and they're trying not despite the fuss out of the rap Disney offers $30 credits for Hulu Plus live TV plans a in Direct TV Carriage dispute remember they were telling people oh well yeah you can go to these other services as well and again that's to make the appearance that they're not directly trying to kill Direct TV in this and they are but here's where the evidence where here's where the rubber hits the road Disney offering $30 now if you will just get off of their competitor who they have by the tail Direct TV does not have the leverage here but at least they're putting up the fight of their lives and it's uncertain what's going to happen here it's going to damage Disney though to some degree Disney is going to lose a significant number of live sports viewership and advertising so at least they have that but Disney is going after them offering $30 credits for Hulu live TV and all of that again this out of the rap Lucas manf Freddy the author here as Direct TV's Carriage dispute with Walt Disney Company enters its sixth day the two parties are offering the satellite TV's giant more than 11 million subscribers $30 to go somewhere else now you'll see that they've got sling TV fubo and Hulu with live TV that's part of that $30 credit Disney trying to send them anywhere else why to kill Direct TV it's the only possible conclusion you can legitimately come up with folks Disney has the intent to kill Direct TV they want to say to Direct TV we will give you the lesser of our of our quantity or of our content we will give you less of the quality we will give you less of the quantity of our content that's what I was trying to say and you will pay far more than what we offer in our own deals and as you lose your subscribers and as you go bankrupt you're going to continue to line our coffers that is the Disney message it is untenable for Direct TV to do this and that is why there is no Sports on Direct TV through the Disney channels today that is why ESPN will continue to be in the blackout that is why the presidential debate will not be on Direct TV well foreseeably perhaps some deal can be struck but as of right now Direct TV is totally stuck I'm not here to tell you that Direct TV is a perfect company I'm not here to tell you that Disney is a perfectly evil company I am here to tell you that one of these groups wants the other to be out of business because they're their competitor and the other one needs needs the uh partner that's the problem here these are two spouses one who wants to annihilate the other and the one the other one wants to save the marriage Direct TV needs the marriage Disney is uh cutting the bra on the car I think that's a good way to describe it all right folks that's the video for today it's short sweet to the point because I know many of you out there are trying to figure out why you can't watch your sports why you're having to go to your neighbors houses to go see your favorite team so that's the uh that's what's happening hope you enjoyed it folks if you like this content and want more people to understand what's happening with Direct TV consider clicking the like button share subscribe click it stick it to the
