and the Florida Gators released their depth chart for the first time this season um one notable thing not nearly as it feels like there's way less ORS on the depth chart than usual only three on offense in general and only one at starting spots on offense so less ores than usual in week one but notably Montell Johnson is back for the Florida Gators and I will say this Billy Napier said hey if he's listed at the top of the depth chart it's because he's playing okay I'm going to remain skeptical here until I see him on the field um I've said you know if I'm Florida I'm lying about his availability and I'm saying yep he's going to be out there just so Miami has to prepare for them um if he is out there I'm curious at basically what percent he's moving at and I'm curious his usage rate I mean he's one of the bigger backs on the roster he is the most experienced back on the roster he's your best pass blocking back on the roster he's your best back on the roster however he's also three four weeks removed from a knee scope so I'm curious how monre Johnson is moving how much he's going to play is he relegated essentially to passing down situations where his pass blocking is more valuable I'm just curious there uh Tryon web curious um I want to know what the running back rotation will look like when all these guys are healthy but also right now where you can't lean on Mantra even if he's playing I refuse to believe that he's 100% that he's just going to be able to take every hit and do everything that he's going to be asked to do so what will the rotation look like when Montell Johnson is not at 100% are we going to see trayon take on early Downs or going to see one of the more guys that are thought of as power backs take on the early Downs whether that's jacobe Jackson or Jaden ball I'm just curious to see how that all works out uh we've heard Tryon web has apparently become a a reliable pass blocker we'll see what that looks like when you're playing against other teams Trevor eten looked like a good pass blocker when he was going up against Amari Wilson so I'll see it in game and then make my decision but another big thing was the offensive line uh the left side expected even I mean now left tackle to Right Guard is what we expected Austin barar at left tackle Devin Manuel backing him up true freshman Fletcher Westfall behind him uh left guard Nigi Harris and then you've got an or between Christian Williams and Rod Kerney Center Jake Slaughter Rod Kerney Jason zand deelo Right Guard Damen George as expected Bryce love it who has been given High Praise red shirt freshman on the dep start they accidentally listed him as a true freshman he's a red shirt freshman um but Bryce love it been improving at guard we were told that he was in the competition to start at Right Guard he is listed as the second backup Rod Kenney not listed at Right Guard is somewhat interesting but we've been told that Rod kenney's been cross training in both guard spots and Center maybe they just feel really comfortable with where they're at with Right Guard cam weights listed as the third Right Guard which is especially notable because cam weights is also listed as the starting right tackle um interesting approach there Brandon kensaw Dixon listed as the second right tackle Kaden Jones the third right tackle Kaden Jones is one that we've been hearing High Praise for uh all all fall camp and and spring and he was he was a midye in rolly last year so that's one of the reasons that he found no playing time last year was midyear and rolly freshman on the offensive line really tough to be ready for game day there but I'm curious one what the rotation looks like two how short of a leash there is how much rotation do we see on the offensive line do we see eight guys do we see rotation at both tackle spots and then Rod Kierney plays a little bit of Center little bit of both guard spots curious to know what that rotation looks like I will say that I think having Damen George and Cameron weights on the right side does kind of lean toward what I've been saying I think the Run game will do of more polar more Duo more power more Gap scheme I think having those huge guys on the right side of the offensive line really help open that up and so that could be part of it um and yeah if camon weights does struggle because I know I know florid Gator fans I get it right uh we've been having the Cameron weights conversation since he got to Florida really and it's always been but look at his size he's 68 343 is what He's listed as if you can get him right he's got all the physical tools the traits all that stuff and that's always been the conversation surrounding him and my point because I know we've also heard a lot of people go oh well cam weights should be starting somewhere a lot of the fan base wants him starting at right tackle or Right Guard I don't know why honestly like I get the physical traits what we've seen from him so far hasn't been promising I don't think he played well last year when he was rotating in um which again you know last year he he tore his I believe it was Achilles in in January February very early in the actual year came back toward the end of the season to to contribute and play a little bit yeah he play played a little bit more but half the season feel like is when he came back kind of didn't really play a ton but uh Vanderbilt he played a lot Missouri there were injuries he started in Florida State he started I don't think he played particularly well in any of those games uh we saw him at Right Guard in 2022 in the bowl game where he only played because he was forced to play there don't think he played well there um so I would imagine that he's taken some pretty significant strides developmentally or the other options at right tackle just aren't as promising and so you go well even they're not that promising or or they're not as promising so even though he might be rougher he's got a higher ceiling let's throw him in there so that was kind of the offensive line intrigued me um not a lot of shocking things again really young offensive line I mean you look at it you've got a true freshman in the 3D by left tackle you've got a true sophomore starting at left guard a red shirt sophomore and red shirt freshman as the backups a red shirt freshman and true freshman as your two of two-thirds of your Center position you've got a true freshman at Right Guard backup and then on the right side you got a red sh freshman as your third right tackle you've got a lot of Youth on that offensive line which is somewhat promising in terms of what they can become if you actually develop them uh but that's something that we'll see throughout the season what the rotation is will matter for that of course getting actual game reps but overall offensive line is not one that I'm surprised by again main thing was cam weights I did not think would' be the starting right tackle but we'll see what happens at throughout the course of the year and just what it looks like we'll look at the quarterback and the skill possessions next on lock on Gators I've been telling you every day that uh I I eat lunch and I want to go to sleep right away it's just I don't know what it is I'm just really affected hit the wall once we eat I know that more than 70% of us hit that wall I don't know why we hit the wall but I know everyone hits the wall let a 5H Hour Energy Shot help you leap over that wall or run through that mother you know what uh instead of crashing into it with zero sugar which matters a lot to me I care about carbs zero sugar a convenient portable size it's the perfect pickme up for getting stuff done and the website has a bunch of flavors watermelon tropical burst grape is my favorite Berry and there is more than just one flavor for every single person like you got options over there okay if you go to 5our energy that's the daily and free R in the podcast and on YouTube also don't forget to like subscribe comment review all that fun stuff uh and I will hopefully see some of you in Gainesville I'm heading down there there later on today actually so later on Thursday I will be in Gainesville no no clue what the plan is there but that's the plan for now to just get there but quarterback no surprise Graham merch starting DJ lagways the backup and Clay Millan as the third quarterback Kay Millan coming over from Colorado State they seem to be pretty confident in his ability if he needs to come in DJ lagway likely going to rotate in I really I'll be honest with you I really don't know if he's going to rotate in against Miami I don't know what the plan is for how often he rotates in I don't know if it's going to be hey we're gonna bring him in for a a drive and get essentially just let him rotate in and manage the offense for a drive if there's just GNA be hey it's it's third and short fourth and short put you on the field with Montreal Johnson and and Jaden ball and we're just GNA have a bunch of power back there and get that first down um but I do think that we'll see DJ lagway a bit just don't know how soon it's going to be or to what exposure we'll see for DJ lagway uh running back room like we we touched on before it's Mantra Johnson Tryon web to the primary backup then you've got a triple or or I guess a double or between three players Jaden ball ktie Daniels and jacobe Jackson the expectation has always been that those five running backs will play throughout the course of the Season curious how much of it is going to be a ride the hot hand um if they're going to go hey you know we're facing a really light defense bring in more monell more Jaden ball and more Jobe Jackson and just power power through um so I'm just curious for things like that the receiver room we'll talk about in a second tight ends AR boardingham starting uh with Amir Jackson true freshman and Tony Livingston true sophomore listed behind him Amir Jackson is one of those things where I'm going to say you know I I need to see it before I believe in it I do um I I have a hard time thinking that a true freshman is going to come in and and contribute right away I mean he's taller he's almost two inches taller than arless but still 17 pounds lighter uh that's pretty small he's played glorified receiver at in high school that's what he played he was in Portal Georgia playing glorified receiver screens end rounds I'm not saying he can't contribute it's just I need to see him actually do that and actually out there playing I understand athletic ability really high ceiling you still got to be able to play tight end at this level so I'm curious there what we see um but Billy Napier with tight ends hasn't really rotated a ton anyway throughout his time in Florida it's been whoever his starting tight ends are play the overwhelming majority of the snaps and that's it for the most part maybe the others get a drive here and there Hayden Hansen listening had one of the starting Ted ends alongside Scott isacs and Tony Livingston behind him as well no Caleb Ros on the depth chart um which is interesting Caleb Ros the air force transfer has to red shirt this year but to my understanding he's still eligible to play in four games with typical red shirt standards but he's not on the dep chart right there um Hayden Hanson 6'7 and 34s 267 AR Bingham 63 245 big dudes out there to try to cover receivers unsurprisingly Tre Wilson listed as a starter Aiden miselle behind him Chimay DK listed as a starter Marcus Burke behind him Elijah Badger listed as a starter khil Jackson behind him or sorry Elijah Badger and khil Jackson are listed as the ORS at the starter there um not surprising I've said Trey Wilson shimmery DK Elijah Bader K Jackson those four are who I think of as your starting receivers just because I think situ I think they're going to play a lot but I think situationally it depend who's on the field at that point um I will say that I don't think it looks like they broke down this Jeff chart as far as really the true positions it's just wide receiver wide receiver wide receiver uh Chimay dek probably going to start in the slot Marcus Burke is listed behind him I don't believe that Marcus Burke is going to be the primary backup slot receiver I think that it's jimy dek tra some when they put him in the slot and then Marcus Burke um we did see Marcus Burke play in the slot under Dan Mullen we saw marcberg playing the slot in the spring game especially this year he was playing out there so it could be something that they're working for with with a big slot a power slot that's something Billy Napier has done throughout his career that could be Marcus bur role finally uh we've seen a lot of programs just bring tall fast receivers put them in the slot and have that slot fade work a lot maybe that's something that Florida's looking to add in to the passing offense um but Marcus Burg I mean nearly six4 is your tallest receiver and he played in the SL a lot in the Spring Game Wouldn't shock me to see more of it or wouldn't shock me if this was more just wide receiver wide receiver wide receiver um again Elijah Badger CLE Jackson not surprising um we know that Elijah Badger still has to finish picking up the Playbook that's not a shock at all like I know that a lot of people go how have you not picked up the Playbook it's really complex okay that's why I I it's not as simple as mad where it's just hey we called the I don't I don't know run and shoot wise stick and you know exactly what the play is no you have to run option routes as a big part of this offense as well there's levels to this offensively okay um and Playbook wise we'll see like I'm not saying that he doesn't have it down at all but we'll see what his route tree looks like early on uh either way I do expect to see him play A Lot K Jackson play a lot chimy DK play a lot and Trey Wilson play a lot I think that should be everybody's expectation Aiden myel is reportedly really impressed this fall Camp he's gained weight he's still a little on the lighter side for being 6'2 but not bad at all it's definitely acceptable uh so I'm curious to see if we finally get to see him step onto the field and play s of touchdown in the spring game if I'm not mistaken rer freshman receiver I mean it's it's one of the more senior groups jimr D is a senior Marcus B's a red shirt Jr Elijah Badger a senior G Jackson's a red shirt Jr and then Trey Wilson Nate misel sophomore red shirt freshman but I don't think any other position has just two young players at on that depth chart um it's very interesting to look at and I mean kick returner is listed as Montrell Johnson or Elijah Badger or jayen ball or jacobe Jackson um I kind of hate all of those I know Elijah Badger was productive as a kick returner at Arizona State I know it's a wating get the ball in his hands same thing with Jaden B jaob Jack same thing with everybody um I would just prefer to see like TJ Abrams back there or or tank Hawkins but we'll see uh injury-wise we know tank Hawkins was in a sling probably one of the reasons he's not on there punt returner Trey Wilson chimmer DK nothing else surprising about special teams other than one thing that was surprising about special teams for me uh Nicholas englas the backup punter is 64 and 34 242 that's huge uh Jeremy croshaw is 63 and 3 quarters and 196 uh so Nicholas englas is just a tank of a punter um but he is listed as the backup Hunter here so we'll see maybe we see him uh in week two against Samford I would just like to see what that looks like uh but we are going to look at the defensive side of the ball now next on lockon Gators I know thanks for Mak lock Gator your first listen of the day every day we are available daily and free bre the podcast and on YouTube looking at the defensive side of the depth chart I mean I don't know how much the order I don't know how they determin this order for the ores uh in fact I think I'm I think I'm realizing how they determined the order for the ores uh yeah I okay so I think the way they determine the order for the ores is just numerically in every spot where there's an ore it's the smaller number first Elijah Badger or khil Jackson six or 22 Christian Williams or Rod Kierney 56 or 71 so I think that's how it's breaking up Amir Jackson or Tony Livingston seven or 86 Scott isacs or Tony Livingston 85 or 86 running backs jadden ball Katie Daniels jacobe Jackson 13 21 24 okay so the F position and that has the strong side and that's Justice Boon cam James and Tyreek sap are all ORS over there 124 94 I don't truly believe Tyreek sap is number three in that rotation in fact personally I think he might be number one um I I've said before you know Justice Boon I know that we've heard fantastic things about him through all Camp every camp but we haven't seen him play meaningful snaps in a game since 2022 and even then he wasn't very productive so I'm curious to see that but cam James has been promising he's been getting a bit of hype there nose tackle Desmond Watson over cam Jackson or Desmond Watson or Cam Jackson Desmond Watson 21 cam Jackson 99 so I'm pretty sure it's just numerical order there um cam Jackson's going to play the overwhelming majority of the snaps I believe big end three Tech not surprising there Caleb Banks or Joey slackman that's exactly what we've expected to see this entire time that's not surprising it's always been those two are going to be the ones in there um yeah that's not a shock in any way sh form Jack TJ Cc or George gums Jack purn backing them up I think it'll be TJ CC then George gums I know that it's numerical order but still think that that one Rings true uh my expectations are very high for DJ cersi that he's got a lot of physical tools a lot of physical traits uh we did a spring game breakdown of him for The Insider program which the links in the description below um but we did that Insider program scouting report he was on there very optimistic with what he can be not too sure that uh that we see it immediately but I do think that he's got a really high ceiling and shows a lot of Promise really long arms uh he just looks like he's listed a 65 262 would not Shock me if he had like a six 68 69 wingspan wouldn't shock me at all uh he looks like he's just a really long Edge rusher linebackers Shamar James and Grayson Howard or Derek Wingo uh miles Graham or r moton so it's Shamar James Miles Graham or RJ moton pop Howard or Derek Wingo Jaden Robinson below them uh that's kind of how we expected to see it shake out um I very curious to see how the linebacker rotation works out uh Sam is George gums Jr listed as the starter which isn't surprising Aaron Charles behind him Jamarcus Weston behind him it's just that's an interesting group um just because I I'm I'm curious with George gums George gums and Jamarcus Weston being on that list to make me think that that's more of an edge spot but Aaron Charles being on that list makes me think that might be more of an off ball spot so I'm just curious to see what that looks like uh it was rare that we saw Florida go three linebackers and by Rare I just mean you know it wasn't consistent but we saw it pretty much every game them go three linebackers on the field at once I'm curious how often they do it this year but that that lineup is shaking up like imagine seeing something like justice Boon Dez Watson uh or we'll say justice Boon cam Jackson and cayb Banks as your three down and you've got TJ cersi standing up on one Edge George gums Jr standing up on another Edge Shamar James and pup Howard as the offall guys come on now that that sounds like hell that sounds like hell for uh for the offense and Corner Jason Marshall jaem Jackson Teddy Foster Devin Moore Deon Johnson jir Grimsley no surprises there really Teddy Foster being listed as the third corner on that side is a bit interesting like jir Grimsley was a blue chip caliber cornerback coming in Teddy Foster was really not he was overlooked by a lot of people but him being third on that depth chart is nice no Corman mlan listed um not surprising like I've said I don't think he's going to do much this year been saying that was not impressed with his Colorado tape still think he's got a really high ceiling but wasn't impressed with his Colorado tape so I need to see that safety Jordan Castell trique Bridges Gregory Smith the third true freshman um that just started playing safety last year so very new to the position still but was really impressive during the spring game we talked about that ad naum um I think that he was just really good he moved really naturally and it was moving with a kind of confidence that you don't see often other safety spot ASA Turner DJ Douglas Bryce Thornton uh I don't think there's any shock there I thought we'd see maybe DJ Douglas at the star depth chart and safety nope just ace a Turner DJ Douglas Bryce thoron there uh Sharie Denson and Aaron gates are the star players it's Sharie Denson or Aaron Gates on the depth chart that's not surprising either we kind of expected that the entire off season that's been the expectation uh overall defense has a lot of ores which isn't surprising because I think they rotate more than the offense uh I I don't think they were really any shocks defensively other than George gums listed as the starter at Sam but again that's what makes me think that that's when they go straight 34 that he would be on the edge there um but outside of that really I don't think there were many surprises defensively like I I'm I'm looking through it again and yeah there's nothing that's really popping to me as surprising but I'm excited to see where it works out Jamarcus Weston being on the list at all was something that kind of surprised me there um but that's it but again he's one of the reasons that that makes me think it's an an on the ball position uh but excited to see how this works out excited that the depth chart is finally out Florida Gator football is so close
