well yes the heat is on temperatures are ramping up provincewide as we head into the weekend let's go live to Michelle Morton who's at Spanish Banks finding out just how people are gearing up for this impending Heat Wave Michelle Tanya it's July but it hasn't been feeling like summer up until now now with these hot temperatures in the forecast possibly hitting Heatwave levels earlier today I spoke with people at the beach and at the park to hear what they think loving it I'm going to take my little boogie board out be out in the water yeah definitely definitely I'm not too excited that I don't have AC but um but other than that I'm pretty happy about it yeah most of the time when I'm sitting down by the beach for sure not when I'm working but you know oh really how do yeah how does it feel this work in the heat uh uncomfortable but you know that's summer right what do you do if you don't mind me asking um I'm a chef yeah it'll be wonderful finally hey you know we expected it probably what like 2 weeks ago but uh it's finally here definitely getting a little bit worried and hearing rumors about drought and not wanting to use my hose as much as the summers in the past we'll have a pool and fill the pool and then that's maybe all you get for the day right now it's lovely let's hope it it's nice when it goes up and down just so we I I just fingers crossed no heat Dome so Michelle Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley and that's in addition to heat warnings also in effect now for parts of Vancouver [Music] Island that's right so heat warnings are in effect from around Campbell River down to Duncan so the east coast of Vancouver Island and meteorologists say that the heat wave is going to start from the west and move East and so that means likely there will be more for the interior so right now uh heat warning criteria is being met closer to like Friday and Saturday for the coastal regions and then as shift into like Sunday Monday Tuesday that's when we're really going to start to reach our heat warning criteria for the interior now with that said Tanya uh the province is urging people in the areas where there are heat warnings in place to take extra precautions including knowing the signs of heat related illnesses to drink uh additional water and also to wear sunscreen and protective clothing all right thank you that's are Michelle Morton live at Spanish Banks tonight
