Red Sox Walk-Off BOMB in Extras to beat Orioles In Much Needed Series Win

let's toss it down to jamai all right thank you very much OB well Tyler how much are you enjoying September baseball right now that's awesome playing in Boston September meaningful baseball is you know it's a dream come true uh you know it was a great game out there boy scrapped all day so it was awesome to get that win at the end you saw just [Applause] one you guys to you saw just one pitch in that head bat and then waited for the next one what what went into your approach there against Aken H nothing nothing out of the usual just trying to get a ball over the plate that I can do something with um just saw something pop out of the hand and put a good swing on it it seems like in Extra Innings the way things are set up now you kind of need two runs how much did this group feel like you guys were still in it heading to the bottom of the 10th down just one oh yeah of course you know we got a runner and scoring position right off the bat so um you know scoring the runs a goal obviously you want to get a couple across the board uh we able to do that tonight three home runs in this series for you with that emphatic walk-off obviously just how locked in do you feel down the stretch here yeah this is awesome like I said I'm just really enjoying playing meaningful baseball here in Boston um it's awesome like like I said it's just a dream come true and just want to ride that energy throughout throughout October you guys knew that you needed this one to be able to win this series two games to one how do you describe what it's like to get this one at this critical juncture yeah it's a good team over there man Baltimore they've been top of the division all year so uh you know division rival we want to come out swing the bats well pits the ball well um play solid defense we'll do that tonight again too thanks so much man keep it going thanks jby we've been pitching which is awesome you know and uh hopefully at one point we start hitting again um just grind out the game and uh you know we took advantage of one mistake and too put a good swing on it so um you know we obviously needed this one uh and then you know hopefully it's the begin of something big you good fast ball good breaking ball um he's been throwing the ball well just the command of the fast ball uh on top of the Zone has been huge for everything we've been talking about horizontal attack right use the break breaking ball I think the fast boy has been playing um I think the break we gave him after the Texas one it really worked and with Nick if you look at his the last few years here kind of like September he always finishes strong you know he threw the ball extremely well last year he did it in 21 he's doing it again and uh he loves to compete that's a cool thing about him and uh he'll be ready for the next one how long do like I think three straight know six Innings uh he's given you Innings you know like you mentioned the multiple years like year after year how how much has he kind of been the the one constant in your pitching staff over these he's been he's been although last year year was mostly out of the bullpen but still at one point you know it was six seven Innings from there when when we needed it most uh he he's he's a strong kid you know we talk about physicality you know from from our pitchers you know he he's strong uh you know he can carry the the workload you know he's you know he wants more right uh uh we saw it in in 21 starting coming out of the bullpen all that stuff and uh I think the stuff keeps getting better throughout the year uh he makes adjustments throughout he's very thoughtful about it he knows he's mechanics and uh he knows how to use his stuff do you sometimes think about what O'Neal's been able to do in like2 or something 30 I mean he runs into Rafi he loses some time the infection that that that one I think it was kind of like put him behind for a while there because uh he was in the hospital um doing nothing right and uh just to try to catch up with big Le pitching he was it was hard but uh little by little he's been feeling great uh he's been talking about it ref I think mentioned it two days ago right like he's feels like every pitch every abat he's going to do damage with it and um you know we needed that one that was huge kind of extra special knowing there still meaningful games September getting that sound back well I mean it's still still there I mean it's it's getting harder and harder but it's it's realistic let's be honest so let's go to New York win the series we we just won a series against one of the best team in the big leagues but obviously in our situation uh is not enough you know we got to continue you know and uh we won two two series here at home uh you know for some people it doesn't feel great but for us it does and now we go to New York and try to play good baseball there getting to see a meal every day you know like obviously you kind of knew the profile happened in 2021 um has he been the player that you would hop for when he made that or like has he surpassed that no I think the only the only part of the game that uh we haven't seen and is because we want him to stay healthy is the Running part of it we do believe he can steal bases uh but uh Sprint training he gets banged up so we decided to kind of like slow it down right but uh you see the athlete you know him moving around playing Left playing right uh you know the defense has been up and down lately it's been a lot better better you know just uh just getting used to it right and uh I think offensively you know um especially here that that that place you know that's we've been talking about uh right-hander hitters changing games against us since altu and bregman they they were here a month and a half ago he's he's doing that too for us yeah I think it was part of our our game plan um just attacking them with what I have I was able to execute the pitches so which gave me a lot more room to kind of continue to go throughout that game plan I think it probably would changed I was behind the count a little bit more but I was staying ahead in the count throwing strikes so I was able to do what I needed to do um how much do you enjoy like pitching in Fenway and September you know kind of like whatever atmosphere climate you know like kind of feeling those cooler days Atway Park yeah I mean it's just what you live for it's a very exciting exciting time um but it still comes down to the same game the same night just have to go out and execute pitches and do the best you can to keep the team uh in The Dugout as long as you can so they can hit and do what they do just how how big was that spile there in the top yeah it's it's it's great for him I mean he's been crushing the ball lately but um he's locked in in those counts and you know he was able to uh crush a ball and and put us through and I think that's huge it's huge for the team and for the atmosphere as well in terms of where you've been over the last few starts how how do you feel like things are kind coming together um I think I can always be better I think that I can always execute my pitches better I think I can always navigate the lineup better um I had good night tonight I was able to ex you my pitches but I think there's little things that I can uh continue to work on and continue to try to strive for good a series against you know against a team like you know there's a lot in front of you guys right um how how help me um I think it's more of a sense just kind of staying in the moment I I know I've said this before but I will continue to say it I think it's more about being where we are right now kind of being where our feet are and trying not to get too far ahead I think it's every single time you think about the singular goal of the singular game that we have each night and we got to win that game and then continue to propel forward um once you start thinking in the future it just gets too much there's a lot going on just focus on every single game
