RAISING CONCERNS FOR RIDERS. >> SHE WANTS TO SHIFT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN JOBS AWAY FROM THE TRANSIT DEPARTMENT. >> Reporter: THEY ARE TIRED OF WAITING, METRO BUS RIDERS TRYING TO AVOID GETTING HOME LATE AGAIN. >> THE TRAFFIC MAKES THE RIDE TO BAD. >> 30 MINUTES TOO LATE, SHE LOST HER CAR TO A CRASH TWO MONTHS AGO AND IS WORKING DOWNTOWN TO SAVE FOR REPAIRS. SHE DEPENDS ON THE BUSES TO TAKE HER TO CLASS. >> IT'S AWFUL. SOMETIMES MY MOM WILL PICK ME UP BUT SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT. >> 1000 OTHER RIDERS SAY THE SAME. ONE NONPROFIT IS PUSHING FOR MORE RELIABLE SERVICE. >> THEY'VE BEEN SUFFERING FOR A VERY LONG TIME . THE BUSES GETTING DELAYED. A LOT OF OPERATORS CALLING OUT SICK. >> THE ALLIANCE BETTER BUS NETWORK, A NEW BUDGET NEXT YEAR MAKING TRANSIT A PRIORITY WITH UNDER RAPID SERVICE CONNECTING . THE BUDGET ALSO TAKES MORE THAN $1 MILLION AWAY FROM TRANSIT OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE. MOST OF THIS GOING TO THE INFRASTRUCTURE DEPARTMENT, THE TEAM RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. THE STAFF REPORTS SAY THAT THIS WILL BE FOR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE FOR TRANSIT. THE CHAIR OF THE COUNTY COMMISSION GIVING FINAL SAY OVER THE BUDGET SENT A STATEMENT SAYING MORE THAN EVER MIAMI-DADE COUNTY REMAINS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING RESIDENTS WITH ACCESS TO SAFE CLEAN AND RELIABLE MASS TRANSIT AS WE SEEK ORGANIZATIONAL EFFICIENCY , WE SHOULD NOT MEASURE SUCCESS BY ENSURING THAT WE SPEND THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY, RATHER WE COULD MEASURE OUR SUCCESS BY HOW WELL THE METRO BUS HAD METRO RAIL SYSTEM CONNECTS PEOPLE WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP THEM BUILD A BETTER TOMORROW. IT'S MY ACT TATIAN WE WILL REVIEW THE ADMINISTRATION'S PROPOSED BUDGET WITH THIS IN MIND. >> WE NEED MORE RESOURCES TO ADDRESS THOSE CONCERNS THAT THE COMMUNITY HAS VOICED . >> ENCOURAGING THEM TO CARRY THEIR CONCERNS FOR THE NEXT BUDGET HEARING.
