welcome back to another episode of rock boys football deal on T today the ultimate roster battle Georgia versus Ohio State I think if you pulled most college football fans across the country regardless of what teams they might be fans of you'd probably hear that Georgia and Ohio State have the best team on paper heading into 2024 gonna go position group by position group stack these two teams many of you guys who've been tuning in to the roster battles know the the number one rule let it fly in the comment section it gets ugly in the comment section at times it that's the that's the beauty of college football whether you agree with the boys whether you disagree with the boys whether you're calling us names whether you're mixing up with the opposing fan base that's that's the are at least in my mind the two most talented teams that we see in the country let start at the quarterback position where you have Carson Beck I think I think most people would agree he's probably the best quarterback on this football field but then you look at Ohio State and say I don't know if I've seen a deeper quarterback room in my life for Ohio State heading into the 20124 year I'll ask you first what quarterback room you taken in 2024 and not to use basketball analogy but there's only one ball there's only one guy who can be out there as the quarterback at one time so again you kind of look at the pipeline of what Ohio state has in that quarterback room super interesting but they don't have Carson Beck and Carson Beck to me best best football or best quarterback in college football this year and when you only have one guy on the field you got the best one I think you gotta go with the Georg yeah it's really hard not to lean because I think if you even asked a lot of Ohio State fans and if you disagree with this take I'd love to hear it in the comments section who you taking to go win a National Championship Carson Beck will Howard I think even a lot of Ohio State fans would answer Carson back I'm with you taking the Georgia quarterback room moving on to the running back room where D I was kind of brain shopping this before we went live I think that's a term you might be looking at regardless this is what was going on in my brain you might be looking at the three top running backs in the country heading into 2024 Trevor etm for Georgia trayon Henderson Quin Sean jins for Ohio State I'll ask you I think this one's pretty straightforward running back room who you taken yeah I would go Ohio State and I think you add quinch on Judkins to that trayon Henderson room you're looking at for me trayon Henderson when he's been healthy he's been one of the best running backs I've seen it a really long time you go back to his freshman year really Dynamic I think again the injuries have slowed him down and I think have taken some of the Shine off him a little bit but again if you're a college football fan and you're watching when he's on the field and healthy that explosiveness that ability hit big plays but also grind it out in the middle just being all down back really big time and obviously Judkins is no slouch himself he's right up there with anyone so when you have that Tandem and you have trayan Henderson I I mean it's hard to be a better room than it's I don't think there is a better room in the country and I'm I'm totally with you with trayon Henderson I think one of the most criminally disrespected players in all of college football I see him left off like top five running backs in the country top 10 running backs in the country it's it's wild the disrespect he gets you look at George's running back room saw a workout video of R Robin Robinson II it had me ready to take Georgia there I mean this dude looks rocked up but again it I like Georgia's running back room it's just hard to take him over Ohio State let's get into an intriguing conversation and de let's make it a little bit more intriguing and let's look at Georgia Ohio State not just wide receiver room let's talk about pass catchers so we're going to bring in the tight end position I'll open it up to you first Ohio State Georgia pass catchers who you taking I think I give a slight lean to oh Ohio State just because of the topend talent potential you have in that room I mean Jeremiah Smith and Carell Tate the moments I've seen of Carell Tate at least I think there's certainly something there muk's been a really really good wide receiver I don't know that he's quite at the level you've seen some of these top end wide receivers at Ohio State like the Marvins the Garrett Wilson the ovees those guys but he's he he's certainly no slouch a very good compliment I think to some of those young talents they have but again I don't think either of these rooms I I'm kind of wondering like do you have that number one and you look at Ohio State Jeremiah Smith certainly feels like he's going to be that guy and he's getting the attention like he's gonna be that guy you haven't seen him like that and obviously for Georgia they got to figure out who's going to be their Alpha Dog who's gon to be their playmaker too and they've brought some really interesting transfer portal guys in who I think can make that room more explosive but I think for both these teams I compared to everything else on their squads it almost feels like this position group is a bit of a question in a sense I maybe in comparison because you're talking about in the country I think you got a wide receiver one in Georgia and it might not be your uh prototypical one but I think Dominic love it is that guy for Georgia I think he goes for over a thousand yards and then you look at Ohio State and I like auka I think a little bit more than you like I think he's a guy that's proven himself to be a wide receiver one but there's a very good chance that Jeremiah Smith just comes in as a true freshman and emerges as the wide receiver one as well and you start talking about you mauka as a number two wide receiver and Cardinal Tat's number three wide receiver he sprinkling guys like Brandon inis who are going to be worked into the rotation yeah I think there's just too much talent in the Ohio State wide receiver and at a certain point you just kind of like you just trust Georgia on the offensive line or on the defensive line you kind of just trust Ohio State in the wide receiver room to have really really good players it's hard I think for Georgia like they'll have the better tight end room I think it's a question of how much better and how good they're G to be at that spot because again filling the Brock Bower shoes is going to be as hard as it gets because I we haven't seen a tight end like him in college ball I don't I don't know if it has enough to deal with like are you gonna I don't I don't think Kirby Smart goes done and gets Benjamin URC to replace Brock Bowers I don't think they expect Oscar Delp to be Brock Bowers but I do think that they're very comfortable with the tight end room quick side note for Ohio State I'm kind of fired up about jalani Thurman I I think this was a guy that I really liked out of high school going into year two I think he could emerge as kind of the guy in that tight end room let's go to the offensive line I think this one at least for my mind is pretty straightforward it's the Georgia Bulldog so you look at again kind of like we just talked about with the Ohio State at the wide receiver you just kind of have to respect what Georgia has done year after year on the offensive line and you start talking about guys like Tate on the inside you start talking about Dylan Fairchild who nobody really talks out might be one of the better interior offensive line that you see in the country start looking at a guy like Ernest Green at left tackle could be a first round NFL draft pick Xavier truss has played a ton of football and then you look at Ohio State and say I there are some names that I like but it's certainly not the dominant offensive line that we're expecting George's to be in the 2024 year I just think when you have such a question about what the right side's going to be and if they're going to be up to Snuff if you will I don't see how you can take them over at Georgia team that you just kind of look this is a real it was a good offensive line last year they're returning a fair amount of it and you're kind of right like the way Ohio State's developed wide receivers George's developed offensive lineman as effectively as anyone they're gonna be big they're gonna be tough they're gonna be physical just like you see them every year so again I don't think Ohio State's gotten to that point I think most Ohio State fans would agree that offensive Line's been holding this team back arguably for the past couple years so I think you got to see you gotta prove this new Justin fry approach and can they get back rolling where they have really good offensive lines year in and year out going to the defensive line this one I'm going to put you on the spot first I don't think this one's that tough I think Ohio State like they're they're top three defensive line arguably top two with them in Michigan hate to be a bit of a homer but Ohio State's defensive line I think is unbelievable I thought Jack Sawyer came out and started to play unbelievable ball towards the end of the year true I think you're kind of looking for your guy who's gonna be that really Elite pass rusher like Ken kinata Jacks and stuff up and do it because again I love JT and Jack Sawyer but I think you've seen more of physical like run stuffing defensive lineman from them and then in the inside I think Ty Williams and Ty Hamilton really good and then you're I mean those young guys are big hero con is a dude like he just hasn't got the opportunity he's a really good football player D let's break it let's break this down a little bit more now I think I I lean with you on Ohio State I'm certainly not that it's an easy decision and you're going to take some heat from the Georgia fans and rightfully so in the comments but I think most Georgia fans look at that defensive line I mean that that could have been better they were mid-tier in terms of pass rush they they weren't dominating the way you're typical to seeing Georgia dominate that's probably a fair criticism I'll ask you who is the highest NFL Draft pick from this unit probably Jordan Hall honestly what I've seen from Jordan Hall as a young player I think he is oh you're going with really really good I when he comes out he's gonna be a first round like so if Jordan Hall emerges I would say who's the second highest NFL draft because I think Mel Williams is a guy that's like gonna be like I start kind of breaking down the NFL town and say like Georgia they've recruited that position I think they kind of had like a little bit of like an almost like a gap year in terms of this like didn't have that year where they had some dudes but you look at Jordan Hall or Jamal Jarett going into year two Mel Williams going into year three I'll go Ohio State too because I think it's a little bit more proven like you look at Jack Sawyer JT Ty Williams Ty Hamilton and even some of the young guys like kinat Jackson I think there's sitting here right now early July It's probably hard to go against Ohio State but you Ohio State have the opportunity to return all those guys red shirt Jr red shirt Jr redir I mean really experienced and they're not scrubs I think last year they really played good football and I think again I don't think think this is a case of these guys couldn't have gone for the draft like all four of them would have been selected 100% so I'm looking like this team reloaded they have interesting young guys who I think can maybe add a little bit more juice on that edge and be able to get more sacks and be a little more disruptive but as a group I mean this is a loaded loaded yeah I'm with you okay I'll lean Ohio State on record for the Georgia fans I'm not leaning as heavily as my brothers leaning so don't give me the give it to him in the comment section going to the linebacker room and this one pretty easy we can get back into the good graces of Georgia fans and I'll say this like I'll give a like you look at CJ Hicks apparently getting a lot of Buzz coming out of spring camp going into fall Camp you know what you have with Cody Simon and sunny Styles like it that's a linebacker room with some big time upside you look at George's linebacker room and D I was kind of thinking about this before we went live you think of all the great Georgia linebacker rooms that we've seen right the niobe Deans The Quay Walkers the Channing tindles a couple years got is this the most talented room that Georgia has had at the linebacker position in a long time yeah I mean it's right there and those two true or true sophomores now true freshman last year but CJ Allen rayen Wilson super interesting smell Mund it's just again I feel like he's getting overlooked in a sense just like people talk about him like he's NOA I mean he's he's right up there with those Georgia guys the way he plays getting downhill playing really physical and I mean it's a loaded loaded group it's young it's got a ton of true freshman coming in who are super interesting so really really good position group in Ohio State I think most people would argue that that was that disappointing part of their defense last year at the end of the day and they weren't bad by any means but when you compare them to what they have in the defensive line and secondary you need this unit to play a lot better football I think if if Ohio State's gonna kind of hit their ceiling and be as good on defenses as their talent suggests they should yeah and that what I think should excite Ohio State fans is the stealing for that linebacker room is signicant L higher than it was last year significantly higher Styles X if if those two like are on the field doing their thing like they're just athletically 100% 100% Going to the secondary I'll say I'll start I'll get my answer right I go Malachi Starks is the best player on the football field I'm gonna take Ohio State and you just look at how this Ohio State secondary room is constructed it I think you're looking at two top 100 picks and den Burke and Davis OS at the cornerback spot you have an extremely good nickel and Jordan Hancock you start looking at the safety room and say Caleb DS what we saw from him as a true freshman and then lean Ransom as your experienced veteran safety I don't know how many secondary rooms you're taking over Ohio State so give me Ohio State in the secondary no no arguments and I just I think the big thing is I don't see any holes I mean laan ransom's had moments where I don't think he's played probably up to what you kind of expect from him you think that 2022 Michigan game some of those moments but overall I mean the other four have been good every second I've seen them and they have a bunch of young guys who I think are really interesting so if like if you're not playing top end with those five you have a lot of guys to kind of back fi that Matthews Jr is a guy that starts on so many different teams across the country and you look at Georgia and it I think the secondary is going to be really good obviously you have to replace a lot of good football players Kamar lter Javon Bullard tyi Smith how did tyi Smith being the one I forget that's unacceptable because he's like my favorite I I Joon El Aguero going into year to I mean could be really really good star you look at some of the boundary quarterbacks this secondary is going to be really good but if you're just kind of picking kind of the similar conversation we had for some other rooms if you're just picking in July you kind of got you still need to prove it for uh Georgia obviously Ohio State I mean they're returning pretty much the whole thing and adding Caleb down so you don't really have any questions Georgia again I don't really doubt that they're going to be really good because again you talk about a team that's been developing at a really high level in that secondary especially I think has come on as of late and played really really good ball for them that secondary was Elite last year great and it was great and I think it's been getting a lot better and I just look at Ohio State though I'm kind of like where are the holes how can you like almost pick anyone like they were so good last year they're returning the whole thing in Georgia again they do have some young guys who you're gonna have to maybe see it to believe it not that you doubt it but like you still want to see
