[Music] oh [Music] it's a great day in Sim world everybody good morning and welcome to sim world today I'm Bon back in the host chair this morning for marsh and joining me is my co-host Siege the boys are back the OG Sim today crew back in the chairs this morning Siege how you doing my friend good to see you it's hump day we're excited we're happy to be alive you know couldn't couldn't be a better day to be on the show all right exactly couldn't be a better day man let's jump into it and let's start with a maybe not so good day for uh Desmond Ritter uh Arizona Cardinals cut days are getting cut days are here and as teams prepare for the for the start of the regular season in the sbfl and Desmond Ritter has been released from the Arizona Cardinal H he was one of the players who you know they require in the tra and around de more to the Falcons and you know they let him go in the preseason he finished for 225 yards over three games 2035 uh but you know what's next for Desmond Ritter in your opinion uh Siege you know third round pick two years ago 2022 he started 17 games um 64% completion percentage 14 touchdowns 12 interceptions between the first two seasons of his swfl career but what's next for desent Ritter you think I think he goes to find a local high school where he's from and he uh does some coaching I I don't think he's got much of a future in the NFL or the S swfl I think the only way that he's got a future is if he adjusts adapts and accepts the backup role The Perennial backup role and kind of just plays off of that there's a lot of guys who make a lot of money in the S swfl being perennial backups Zack Zach Wilson has officially taken on that role as decided I don't know if you saw uh his his comments after Bo Knicks was named the starter but that's what uh perennial backups do that's what they say he said uh you know I'm happy for him I don't think it was much of a surprise meanwhile Jared SD was like I think I'm the starting quarterback I think I'm a starting quarterback in the NFL the SFL so I think I think what's next for Desmond Ritter is uh you know fi find a way to exist in football if that's still what he wants to do um without expecting to be a starting quarterback hly this much I personally was never a fan of uh Ritter even at even being you know selected where he was in the third round uh I wasn't a big uh believer in him personally he had Talent around him in Atlanta obviously over the last two seasons but himself just never could really get it together and um you know he was benched twice by you know former Falcons coach Arthur Smith uh in part because of his poor decision making and not being able to take care of the football you know again 12 fumbles and 12 interceptions the last season so you know that's not that I'll tell you what that's not going to help you uh be a starter in the in the S swfl no matter what you may think you are if you're Jared St um you know those kind of things aren't going to help you at all so yeah I I think I think you're right there has to be some Acceptance Now of being a backup potentially but I mean that's again if he decides to do that um I don't think he's cut out to be a starting quarterback if in the league and that's fine we say it all the time not everybody not everybody can be the guy Siege and there's a role to play and if you're willing to play it if you're willing to accept and adjust to that role there could be something for you like you can make a lot of money doing that but if not hey it's always something else for you to do absolutely there's always there's always a role somewhere football's a big industry so you know he he'll find a place exactly football is a big industry and there's plenty of things you know for people to do hopefully he can find something to do that will make him happy whatever that may be uh speaking of being happy let's switch gears Sim World U and let's talk about Xavier because you know the former Big East champions last season they come into this current season season two SIM simu ranked number six in the SP top 25 and they finished what 29 and seven last season if I'm reading my numbers right here uh they're looking really good in practices apparently according to Fair uh head coach they've got a lot of things to be happy out over there I particular uh coach Tom Miller mentioned that his team will be more physical than most teams uh in their conference and they're looking at Milan Milan Mak is's expected to take the lead role offensively uh what are your thoughts on Xavier this season and and you think they could potentially repeat as Biggie's Champions yeah I think they could potentially but I'll tell you one thing and uh I'll tell you this every year every time I don't trust Shawn Miller I don't think he's that good of a coach um I never will I just don't really like Shawn Miller I don't think he's that great I think I could do his job just as well as he does I think he had a seven foot monster of a man and DeAndre Aon at Arizona and didn't do anything with him and uh for that I'll always hold the grudge but I digress this team that we've got here miles makabe very good in the post uh he's got he's got good footwork he's got good foot IQ I like to call it he knows where to put his feet to get to where he wants to go um and then this is this is a pretty big team a pretty beefy team know they don't have any seven-footers towering over people but they got a lot of guys in that 6667 to about 610 range and they're some beefy guys so I think they will be one of the more physical teams that you're going to see do I think I like Shawn Miller no do I like this team and a lot of the talent on it I do I really do and um I think they've got a shot to repeat in the Big East um but I think it's going to be a little more competitive this year than maybe we saw last year so I'm excited to see exactly how that plays out yeah I do think it's definitely going to be more competitive than last season but you know you just said earlier CJ you didn't like uh Sean Miller and you know what he's done over there that they're that kind of thing whatever but you know uh look Big East champions so last season so he's doing something right I know that may not mean much to you but he's doing something right SI so you know like win a title Shawn Miller win a title he's been coaching he's been coaching for a long time last season he did right he was coached there last season win win a National Title Sean Miller you've been coaching for too long not for me not to have seen you even in a national title game even in a national title game oh well I don't even think I'm correct me if I'm wrong producers I don't think I've that we've ever even seen sea Miller in the quad and he's had a lot of Talent on a lot of different teams and he never does anything with them well look we'll see if we can get it done this season personally I do think that Xavier still has the pieces especially with uh makabe still there and uh Cornelius levit Leverett there uh being able to help and you know look this is a really you me you mentioned this they a really tall team this team averag is at 67 for height uh and I know his college is different from the prep game um but you know regardless I think height is always going to cause a mat of problem for a lot of teams especially those smaller teams if you have the height you can use that to your advantage all game pretty much so I'm really really excited to see how Xavier does that and uses their uses a lot of their bigger kids uh to their advantage this coming season and if they can repeat as Big E Champions and maybe make a run Siege because you know anything can happen in basketball and Sports in general so maybe we'll see Xavier in in the quad and they can get that monkey off of they can get the monkey off of your back for them I guess or again winning the national title like you said would uh help you with Sean Miller but hey anything can happen anything can happen other than Shawn Miller finding real success well look look speaking of you know success uh let's switch switch gear Simo prep here because the number one international recruit montias morosus has committed as of last night he found his way the state he's going to be playing for lar Basketball Club Siege this is huge for for him and for you know the middle east region and for Lone Star Basketball Club too uh I remember with Brook Simpson not being too happy about his being concerned about his struggles in recruiting with you know Tex Talent getting away and that kind of stuff but look at him land the number one international recruit in Monas for Vasquez and getting to join lonar how is this going to impact lonar this season you think oh I mean look anyone who watched last year knows that Mor balskus is an absolute bucket he averaged 11 and a half points a game not anything crazy but again if you've watched him play you know the guy's a bucket he's he's a springy little guy I say little he's 6 fo three but springy little guy he can get up there you saw him finish off some of those alley oops things like that um and he is just he is a pure bread scor it's what he does he can score from the outside he can put the ball on the floor he can do a lot of different things um and I think what this going to do for lone Stars it's going to give them a certified kind of I'm I'm even going to say a certified number one I think he's going to be the guy on that team I think he's going to be the guy with the ball in his hand in late game situations late game scenarios um I'm excited about this move and on the other hand it gives Mor basus a chance to kind of get a little more exposure be State Side being a a place like Texas where everything's bigger and that includes the exposure includes the cameras things like that so I'm really excited for this move I'm happy for the young man and uh I hope it works out works out well for both sides yeah he's I really like this move for those like I said it gives them a certified number one they were looking to replace their you know number one in Arthur Latimore and I think they did just that I'll all be at a different position this time uh Mor Vasquez is a guy who you know at he's probably gonna play uh more of the point guard spot than you know than the shooting guard spot we'll see where they decide to put him at obviously but I think that's where he's best served uh but I feel like his best ability is just like said his scoring you know you can score from pretty much everywhere on the floor get it done at all three levels and that's going to open up the floor for not only you know himself but his teammates too espeically A lot of those you know younger teammates or firsttime teammates that he's going to have uh for the upcoming season caderas mofuku comes to mind a few other players here on the list but this is I think going to be a a a a good Lone Star Team um with the recruiting that Brook Simpson has done down there in in Texas I think that he's really kind of come into his own and found out you know what his strengths are in recruiting however however he's talking to these players these kids and and getting them to commit to lonar and buy into him as a you know seconde coach it'll be his first full season with Lone Star so this is kind of where we really get to see his recruiting chops and how it all how he does his thing so I think he's done a really good job of putting a team together here we'll see how it all you know meshes together obviously U but but but but I do think that this is big again for the inter the international respect from him too because you know again we we saw it last SE with last season with Co web you know he left Oceania and went to Showtime so now we're seeing it again with with Mor Vasquez here I think that this does show that you know there is potential for international players to contines to show that there is potential for international players to come State side and get that exposure more of the disposure that they're looking for yeah there absolutely is and I'll tell you what I'm kind of surprised it took this long for someone to get a hold of Marquez I uh to me he was one of sim middle east's best player and as we know simor Middle East no longer existing uh it's expensive to bring a kid over right it's expensive to bring a kid overseas and house them all year and house them all season and and have him play on your team but you know the league simor prep had that initiative that they would cover a lot of the cost to get these guys from simor Middle East onto new teams um just showing they uh you know care about the exposure and the career of the athlete which is awesome so to me the first thing I would have done as soon as I found out that that was uh that initiative was in place is I would have gone and looked at more bcus and tried to get him on my team so great job by uh coach Brook Simpson uh I think a lot of other coaches dropped the ball could have used a guy like this but coach Simpson got him so you know yeah yeah he did he get it he got him and big thing is too he got him before the close of the simar prep recruiting deadline which is this coming Friday so I think that's also a big thing to note too is that he kind of got in here at the uh maybe maybe not the the 11th hour but may maybe the 9th hour and got got got got that commitment done so shout outs to him shout to Lone Star we're ready to get that move done and we'll see how it goes that's
