Madden 25 2024 Week 3 San Francisco 49ers @ LA Rams

[Music] through his I'm tired I'm the now hang the phone up I'm s it's week three of the NFL and we've got jarious War he'll make you pay if you throw his way too often it's the 49ers and the Rams on EA Sports from the second largest city in the US Los Angeles California we've got football as EA Sports coverage of the NFL is on the air along with Charles Davis I'm Brandon Gord and Charles you look at this Rams team as they interplay they come in feeling good after back-to- back victories on the other side of the field for the visiting 49ers an early season tilt and when it's an early season tilt should be ready to roll well let's face it the aches and pains haven't really set in yet and both teams eyeing a really good start to get things [Applause] going and we are underway from s Stadium and he'll be tackled just shy of the 25 the LA offense going to go to work for the first time and it is the veteran Matthew Stafford at the helm in his 16th NFL season and fourth with the Rams and I thought it was a really nice performance last week by him three touchdown passes I think that signifies exactly what he was getting done he did have the one interception but that's the ratio you say you're okay with right if you go three to one you're going to be pretty happy over the course of the season and let's face it he'll never blame the receiver publicly but behind closed doors he probably told his agent hey what's the deal I should have had a perfect game and it appears we've got a member of the Rams shaken up on that last play well they come out and take a look at him we will step aside for just a moment ball up to the 35 now as they come up on First and 10 now it's Stafford that's to the seconde man PUK and Thea call it a gain of on the play and it's second down 41 yd [Music] Stafford he'll get that complete to Parkinson and tackled down after a gain of three leaves him with one yard to go on third down and they're on your screen Charles the key inactives guys out this week there's never anything good about any injury but there's a silver lining to them is that it creates opportunity for someone else on the dep chart will they take advantage of it with good play or they not prepared well they'll never get on the field and they'll go out there and hurt their team a big play there for LA and even 40 Y what my dad would say sometimes I'm just scratching my head here trying to figure out what was going on there defensively how did you lose him in the middle of the field if you're going to lose a receiver make sure it's someone on the short side of things not deep down field that can hurt your defense and quickly into the hands of Robinson go down as a gain of six and that'll bring up second down now Stafford and this is going to be intercepted Isaac Y in to pick it and the 49ers are going to get the football here as they force the int on the game's opening drive well brand as they say in popular culture this one's going to leave a mark because they can see the end zone but it'll stay out of reach because of their error all their offensive teammates have to give the quarterback right now offer a little bit of encouragement because what's done is done let's get them next time out the 49ers getting ready to go on offense and it's the pro bowler Brock pie at the head home in his third NFL season now out of Iowa State and he's had good success here already this season throwing the football six touchdown passes in his two games he's really got this offense playing with a lot of confidence trying to establish themselves early as a Super Bowl Contender and he'll get this just across the 25 yd line the numbers for maccaffrey last week there isn't a coach alive who wouldn't like those numbers well over 100 yards and a touchdown two partner I think all the coaches are in that great coaching box in the sky would take those numbers so dead or alive either way they would take that of production and he Powers his way up past the 30 call it a gain of five there on the run but they'll remain a yard or two short here with third down coming up they'll try and pick it up with maccaffrey and he will have a first down as they get him to the ground at the 37 give him six Ys and they do convert on third on first down this is maaf he'll take it past the 40 to the 41 second down and it appears we've got a member of the Rams shaken up on that last play peral set up to throw it here it's caught by Jennings and he gets this one to Midfield before he's brought down a gain of 10 out of 49 or first [Applause] down and they'll send the tight end in motion here shotgun hand off now to maccaffrey yeah he'll work free from one tackle but that's about all as he's taken down a tackle there by John Johnson so from just across the mid stri here's second and nine birie man open that's Deo Samuel so give him five y there on the pitch and catch and it'll be third down they'll need five on this play to move the sticks P now to throw alluding the pressure right and incomplete he had nowhere to throw so he just tossed it away but that brings up fourth first he try to run but he just kept buying time to his right finally nothing there he wisely gets rid of it fourth down try here's P able to find the open man that's complete and he gets it inside the 35 and just shy of the 30 the conversion is successful with a sizable gain of 13 and the decision to go for it looks like a smart one back to throw P that's complet out left so they'll get eight out of that completion and that'll bring up a second down and just a couple the ners at two and0 here to begin the season they come in feeling pretty good after backto back Victory CD and I thought that they played pretty well last week their execution their discipline their resilience all on display in that Victory and he'll be out of bounds about a half to a full yard shy of the five first and goal a chance to convert that early turnover into points they'll try to run with maccaffrey and he is met in his tracks behind the line of scrimmage call it a full three yard in the wrong direction there brings up second down this defense is a difficult one to prepare for one of the best in the league they'll come at you from all angles and they did a nice job there stopping him for a loss and that is incomplete a lot of force be down on him there he could not hang on it's third down this has been a long drive you got to figure a field goal would be a let down can they convert now on Third and goal they'll set up the screen to mcaffrey and he'll be brought down here at the three yd line that one good for only six and it leaves him with a fourth [Applause] down how about this they'll change it at the line h on fourth down it's complet swings it out to his running back and now this is going to be close the they stopped it and they did Kyle Shanahan doesn't care much for that last call so out comes the red challenge flag [Applause] after review of the play the ruling on the field stands so not successful there on the challenge and he'll have to be careful from here on out because he'll only have one challenge remaining set to begin their next Drive the Rams offense at the line they were intercepted the first time they had the football but now they get it back and it's still 00 and because of that you know what the thought process is interception what interception it didn't really happen because they gave up no points so go back on the attack go back and run the offense you believe will be successful find your Playmakers and give him the football here's a second and five they'll fake it now Stafford this one swung out to Williams so that'll be no better than an incompletion and it's third and four now as a defense you're more balanced when you're in zone coverage because you're able to keep your eyes on the quarterback and see the play develop in front of you they're able to keep the Quick Pass in front of them and stop it right at the line of scrimmage off of playaction here's Stafford a throw here right sideline Falls incomplete that looks like it's going to be two empty possessions now to start this football game I think they're going have to sit down and talk about what worked for them last week in their win sometimes you over game plan overthink things get back to what works here comes the Rams punter now and no room for air here as his first punt comes from deep in his own End Zone he only punted twice in the win last week as he gets this one away taken right around the 44 it'll be 37 yds there on the punt and the ners set up well they take over first and 10 on the short side of the field now pie out to his left he's got the hook up downfield with Samuel and they will eventually get him down but he's inside the five all the way to the three first and goal from the three maccaffrey fighting but he won't get too far maybe a yard that's all down to the two it's a gain of a couple and it'll be second and goal from the two now second and goal H looking to throw and this will result in in losing yardage back to the three they call it a loss of a yard there and now we've got a third and goal situation here's pie escaping the pressure right that's to the Pyon incomplete the LA defense up the sff and coverage there pushes this to fourth down so P off and Moody on for the 49er field goal and this one is right through and the 49ers take a three nothing lead so they're able to end that drive with three points points in this one possession ball game and ideally you want to end every drive with points most quarterbacks would tell you let's end it with a kick right A P that's number one field goal you'll take punts you really don't want to do that in this case they'll take the field goal and get prepared for the rest of the game and now out on the field Here Comes Los Angeles early on you know Charles every game could be called a measuring stick game but I think when it comes within your division like this it's a measuring stick game with a little extra INRI I would agree with that totally because all division games have a little extra to them but I like where this game is situated because at this stage of the Season it has that little extra juice but at the same time it's not a make or break If This Were let's say week 15 16 somewhere in that neighborhood back to throw Stafford that'll be caught by C and he's going to be knocked down hard at the end of that [Applause] y now a first down carry it's Williams just a yard on the pickup there and it'll bring up a second and nine playaction Stafford and that'll be incomplete took a pretty good shot as he tried to pull that one in couldn't hang on third down throwing a Stafford oh and his early struggles continue here's another one intercepted picked off by charvarius Ward and the ners are going to get possession of the football as time will run out on this first quarter of play three nothing after one on EA Sports the 49ers with the football here to begin the second quarter as they get set to start their drive with a first and 10 the 49er offense set to get this drive underway and last time they got three points but it was a chip shot field goal and when you go to the sideline after Chip Shot field goal maybe the offense not too happy it's a balancing act isn't it because you're exactly right they're n too pleased that they didn't punch it in for six points but they also have to remember they did put points on the board three points three points and in this league you take points when you can get them not easily done from the shotgun to maccaffrey and hard running is going to get him over the 40 to the 42 four yd the gain and it'll bring up a third down they are in need of six yards here if they hope to move the chains throwing here pie work in the middle of the field and he's got a man complete and he is going to have a 49ers first down as they're able to get the third down conversion maccaffrey running up the middle and they'll be inside the 35 now at the 34 yd line brought down on the play by Kobe Turner from the 34 yd line here's second and five again they run and it's maccaffrey and he is going to lose yardage here he lost four there and it's third down I like the strategy extra tight ends extra beef they want to run the football but that means they probably want to run it inside if you get strung out on the perimeter you're in Peril yeah we saw the result negative yardage birie now to throw off the playaction he's got his Target that's complete and this is going to be another first down as the tackle is going to be made at the Rams 21 a sizable 16 yd chunk there the drive continues a hand off left maccaffrey and he'll head out of bounds inside the 10 Mark him down at the N 51 yd rushing for him now as he's carried it 13 times back to the ground on first it's maccaffrey that's going to go as a loss of four and it'll be second down well anytime down here in the red zone that you can get a running back going lateral to the line of scrimmage that's a plus for the defense we all hear about the offensive guys saying get North and South get up field they didn't allow it at all on that play throw left side complete that's Jennings and across the chalk into the end zone it's a 49er touchdown Jaan Jen his second touchdown on the season and the ners are able to extend their lead Moody good with the extra point and the lead grows to 10 [Applause] nothing so following the touchdown here's Moody back out to send it away [Applause] and they'll get him down inside the 30 at to 27 La set to take over again on offense so now Charles this drive maybe a touch more important try to erase the memory of that interception they had the last time out yeah and everyone goes through this because even the best of the game you're going to have games where it just doesn't go right for you an interceptions result so frankly all about how you respond not just the types of plays that you call but how you carry yourself how you show your team that you're still with it and how you continue to lead and that'll fall incomplete he was hit just as he let that go and now it's third down right where this set of downs started they need a full 10 here to pick up the first down and move the chains Stafford now to throw he'll get that complete to Parkinson and he'll be out of bounds across the 30 yd line here's Ethan Evans now it's taken to the 26 first by him near the 35 a pretty good punt there but also a nice return of 12 yds and the ners will go on offense first and 10 Debo Samuel and the 49ers back in possession here he's doing what he's capable of having a solid game not not the most amazing game he's not over 100 yards but a good game so far and you just know that mentally he feels like he's one catch away from turning it into a great game and starting on that road and the Defenders are well aware of thato they've got to figure out a way to not let that escalate keep him right in this Zone here and call it a day because otherwise he can really decimate him better believe they are well aware of his playmaking ability to throw again on second and he takes a shot on the release as this should be incomplete they this drive a lot of confidence after the last one as a incs on their first throws hasing up and to Fig out a third to get their momentum going again out of the gun p that is caught and he has a big gain inside the 40 before being dropped and they pick up 25 as they convert on third in motion the tight end a give running left it's maccaffrey and he's going to be out of bounds down around the 35 yd line three yds on the pickup there and it'll be second down they did a really nice job there defensiv play they strung the play out didn't give him a cut back Lane on each play you have guys what I call BCR players guys are responsible for the bootleg for the cut back and for the reverse they played that one perfectly and Roe him right out of bounds 63 yd rushing for him as he has been tough to stop here in this first down they stay on the ground maccaffrey again and he'll go down here at the 12 yd line and he continues to have success running the ball here in the first half as he's already closing in on 100 yd for the game in need of only about the length of the football here on second down this time they'll throw it here's pie sliding and he can't find a receiver and he's brought down they push him back eight yd that time on second down the offense on third down they've hit four of seven this is third and eight now San Francisco going to call their second timeout so as they talk it over we step aside eighth play of the drive fourth coming and they need eight yards on third down herie from the gun nowhere to go here he lost the football oh one of the L on the other has got it a lot of bad news on that play for them wasn't there lost the football lost a lot of yardage but I think the good news outweighs it able to retain possession that was big for them and his kick is indeed good and that will extend their lead even further so as it turns out that sack doesn't wind up costing them char they at least get points in three of them yeah that's where your kicker can really come to your rescue because you know after the sack there was a little consternation there are we out of field goal range are we going to be able to get three in this case he stepped right up and gave him exactly what they needed Stafford in the Rams come up first and 10 at their own 26 he'll look to Williams to begin things and he'll work this forward for about three it's second down I think they want to getting back into this game it behooves them to get better on first down yeah certainly not what they were looking for there out of the opening play of this Drive Stafford connecting with cup here on the out rout and they get him down but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line first first and [Music] now Stafford and this will be incomplete physical play on the football there and it's second down here's Stafford a quick throw there is incomplete I tell you Brandon this defense is playing with some confidence haven't allowed a point yet fly into the football I'm telling it's into the ball on every snap another nice job there to force an incompletion here's Stafford on staff for the third time is intercepted and the 49ers are going to have the short field here as they'll take over right at the 50 well these defensive coaches they sure like what they've got in this rookie corner and with good reason as you saw there he only cost him a day two pick and a lot of people thought he had first round ility but when he was available on draft night that was one where you didn't need the full time to make the selection you call that pick in early and he shows why he was so coveted with that interception there and a really good show of force there as he gets through for four tough yards from the 46 yd line a second down and six up the gun maccaffrey and a strong run there as he'll take this all the way down to the 35 88 yds now for maccaffrey it's a first down pie and this is caught and he's going to take it in touchdown San Francisco Brandon auk 35 yards as his guys are able to push that lead out a bit further further week after week Charles when we see this offense operate I don't know they just seem to get more impressive they certainly do and let's face it it's no surprise are the best in the NFL in scoring this team designs things well and executes even better and here it only takes a few snaps before they're in the end zone that's how they demoralize teams that's how they put them on notice so after the B field goal by Moody he's back out to kick this one [Applause] away and able to get this across the 20 but not much further as he's dropped at the 23 yd line the Rams ready to go on offense and we don't want to call this desperation time especially in the second quarter but you're down you want to no but won't let me finish okay my bad you're down three scores already you've done nothing offensively nothing on the scoreboard that's that's not a good combination I think you just called I think you just called it desperation time I think you did but let face it you mentioned this to me in a break earlier in the game the energy level hasn't been there right from the start we've noticed that they've got to find a way to get on their toes and start punching instead of retreating to use a boxing analogy they'll fake the give now Stafford now the pressure comes and he goes down just inside the 10 back at the nine that is Nick Bosa from out on the edge who worked his way in for the sack so now Stafford and the Rams after the sack and they're staring up at a third and long two minutes remaining in this first half football here is third and quite a ways now a give up the middle to Williams and he'll be taken down losing yardage back at the 9 yd line now the ners going to signal for their third and final timeout and with halime on the horizon they'll be out of timeouts from here forward he's been a busy man here in this first half as he gets it away it'll be a net of 40 yds there following a 43 yd punt three yard return and this offense takes over in great shape right at the 50 First and 10 from the Midfield strike they'll look to [Music] throw oh he was hit as he threw it there and that one winds up incomplete always always tough trying to keep your guy upright when he's trying to throw the football when you're dealing with those big bad guys on the defensive front it's even tougher and this time those guys on the opposite side won the battle getting to the quarterback and knocking him into an incompletion tough series for the passing game things just aren't clicking they come through on this and get this back on track with a comp for enough yardage for a first down fie off the play fake nowhere to go here he lost the football oh one of the linebackers has got it and they have the football and will set up shop at the 33 yd line so they'll come up first and 10 now from the 33 following the fumble recovery Stafford it's caught on the right side by Robinson and they'll get this one to about the 20 yd line first at the yd now Stafford that's complete to Williams out of the back field the Rams going to go ahead and use the first of their timeouts as they get the stoppage with a little over 50 seconds to go in the first half to throw is Stafford and this one incomplete too much contact to hold on to that one and it's third down not an easy spot here they'll be in search of 13 yds to try to pick up the first now on Third and long long they'll look to throw and oh it'll be intercepted picked off by T Noah H and the ners are going to take possession here at their own three yd line well Charles he's thrown five picks in a game before and right now after that one he's standing on number four and right now your defensive coordinator is asking the offensive coordinator can you do anything to slow this down cuz my guys have to keep running back out on the field so play Calling May Come into a little bit maybe run the ball a little bit more but a lot of it depends on the scoreboard they may have to keep throwing it and an anxious moment or two there but they do get him down trying to find some space to operate and now they'll have it a gain of 12 a big first down to get away from the endzone I guess it's good we can't really read the mind of the defensive coordinator now huh had him pinned back there deep give up that run can't be happy yeah whatever was whatever is in his mind right now we probably couldn't say over the [Applause] air so we have reached halime here with a visiting 49ers on top as we'll send you Eastward to Orlando standing by with that EA Sports halftime report now is Jonathan Coachman take it away Coach all right Brandon thanks and welcoming everybody to our EA Sports halftime report time for a look around the NFL here in week three of the new year we'll start up in the Pacific Northwest at Lumen field in Seattle and it's the Seahawks who have the lead in that one Gino Smith responsible for the lone touchdown in the game thus far as he's thrown a touchdown pass from there we head east to Tennessee to check on the Titans at home in Nashville and they were winners in that one over the visiting green Bay Packers Tony Pard a touchdown run in the victory finally let's get to the deserts check on the Cardinals at home in Glendale and they Trail the visiting lions in that one a touchdown there for jir Gib this was an extremely one-sided first half one team showed up ready to go the other's been in a days thus far but there's still plenty of time left for this one to tighten up sign significantly both these teams no doubt making their final halftime adjustments as we speak and for the call of the second half we get it back out to Brandon G and Charles Davis all right coach thank you and we welcome everyone back for quarter number three and a good return as he'll be stopped just shy of the 30 yd line the ners offense and Brock pie getting ready for this next possession and as we show you some of the highlights from earlier he has been instrumental in getting his guys the lead as he looks to finish strong and close this one out the San Francisco offense ready to start their next drive and they've got the lead CD what do you expect from them in this second half well I like what they were able to do on the ground in the first half because they lot of success running the ball and I certainly think we'll see more of that but I keep an eye on that defense and I think their coaches up in the Box will do the exact same thing if they start to see one or two guys start to creep towards the line of scrimmage that'll be licensed to take some shots down field back to throw pie winds up and lets it go for Samuel that's going to be knocked away and incomplete well they have that one snipped out defensively that's a tough one to connect on got multiple defenders in the area and it winds up incomplete shotgun now with pie pass taken in by his big tight end and he is going to have a ners first down as they're able to get the third down [Applause] conversion here here's pie that's caught by Jennings it'll go as a gain of four and it'll be second down they'll give it up to mcaffrey he stiff arms him and he's got this to the 30 before being taken down 113 yd for him on the ground now as he has been ter here this afternoon so first and 10 and if they score on this drive might have to start digging in our second half blowout material pie now to throw flush to his right and he'll toss this one incomplete seeing no options he throws it away they their backs up against the wall a little bit and they come through by forcing an incompletion now they've got to continue to ratchet up the intensity a couple of more times and get off the field giving up any more yardage they're going to Snuff this play out behind the line we have not seen that much today this will be a loss of three and now a much tougher third down looming peral set up to throw it here oh hit as he throws there incomplete really good cover to all over the field took away his intended read and almost dared him to try for his guy out of the back field no surprise on that one it doesn't connect well they picked up right where they left off in the first half first drive after the break They Come Away with three and increase that lead yeah you just want to keep building on that lead don't you whether it's six points or three points take everything you can get keep maneuvering keep adding to it keep making it difficult for them to come back and he brings us out past the 20 to the 24 now the attention turns back to the Rams offense as they get ready for their first possession of the second [Music] half Stafford and the Rams come up first and 10 at their own 24 they'll try and start this drive in the air going to be taken in here by nula and he'll be out of bounds across the 30 yd line on the 32 it's second and two back to throw Stafford that's into the hands of Parkinson the tight end seven yards there and a first down now it's Stafford throw left side complet to to Cup and just three yds on the catch there he couldn't get away and it's second down and they'll send Cup in motion right they'll fake the Jet Sweep and instead to give up the middle to Williams and they're going to get him behind the line yet again as his nightmare afternoon continues thir they'll fake it now Stafford a throw right side here going to be incomplete well this is just a continuation of what we saw in the first half so much for the fresh start to begin the third quarter still of Target throws no rhythm throwing the football and obviously no touchdown scored in this game it's a 42 yd punt but eight on the return and they will take over first and 10 the 49ers offense making its way back out there and as we look back at how we got here you'll notice a common theme in these highlights a lot of yardage through the air the passing game has been sharp right from the outset the 49er offense set to get this drive underway and they're not going to play this conservative I don't think they had the field goal last time the ball's out maccaffrey lost it and now the Rams have got it going the other way and they have the football and will take over at the 24 yd line well number one on the list of things not to do when you're up three scores in the third that right there give the football away I love when you speak like that you know how doctors talk about taking the Hippocratic Oath first Do no harm you just did the football CTIC one right there don't give the ball away when you have a lead that you can lock this game down with now a quick throw there but it's going to be incomplete they started this drive backed up against the wall by the turnover but I love their fight planted their feet and forced the incompletion on first down up the middle it's Williams and he's going to have this pretty close to a first down as the tackle is made at the N or 16 that'll leave him with a third and two coming up they got eight yards there they'll come to the line needing only two yards to gain the first here throwing is Stafford able to find the open man that's complete and he is going to have a Rams first down at least it appears that way and he got it by maybe the length of a football y they'll run out of the gun here Williams and he's going to get a solid gain of nine before being brought down second and right at the yard Stafford to the Z but it's incomplete what a job by this defense all game long they've come together and really said no one's crossing our goal line and they're definitely not going to start right now you can just see the dejection feel like nothing is working offensively and oh my goodness here's a fifth interception picked off by harus Ward and the 49ers are going to have it here at their own 15 that is now five interceptions that he is thrown in this ball game if I ask you to speculate what's possibly going on in his head what would you say well if he's as mentally strong as I believe he is he understands that not all these picks have been his fault you know some of the throws yes but have been a good number of them he hasn't been helped by his own receivers and they've turned into interceptions so he knows if he keeps firing perhaps good things can happen not just in this game but especially in later [Applause] ones now pie and he whips that one incomplete there not his best throw there but where we sit right now in the third quarter he's had a pretty good game throwing the football he certainly has and it's not exactly at the point where we're doing four-minute offense yet but they've got to think about I'm not going to say milking the clock nowhere to go here he lost the football dangerous spot for them to cough it up lucky to have recovered because had the defense gotten it they were already within the shadow of the goal post yeah then you're yelling at your own defense Sudden Change Sudden Change that's not what you want to hear on your sideline that means you got to run out there and try and stop an offense who has the ball in a very advantageous position oh Nifty Juke there not much fun for a guy try to tackle it it'll be a net of 39 4 one y punt two on the return and the Rams are going to start this drive in great field position as they take over trying to shake off the interception from the last Drive he'll look to throw and he's Coral but not before getting it inside the 35 so they' come up first and 10 now from the 33 first and 10 at the 33 yd playaction Stafford right back to Atwell that's complete and he's going to get seven out of this before being taken down at the 27 here's second and three y from the gun it's a run for Williams and a hardw run here as he's got it inside the 20 down to the 17 Rams first down on a pick up of 10 nice job there finding room to maneuver and he worked his way into another first down and look they had great field position to start but boy they've done a nice job taking advantage of it now they're just hoping to cap it off caught by Allen so just three yd on the completion there and it'll be second down he'll get that complete to Parkinson so give him two yard there on the completion and it brings up third and five now from the gun here's Stafford and it's complete he's the two2 adwell a 12yd touchdown grab and the Rams get a bit closer they'll look to run for it with Williams and he is not going to get in here so the decision to go for two does not pay off as they're unable to cut any further into their deficit the Rams kickoff team on the field and here we go with a ball in the air and they'll start this drive just across the 30 pretty nice work on the return the ners offense and Christian mcaffrey ready to go once more and as you take a look at the numbers you have to imagine he was the topic of the half the San Francisco offense ready to start their next Drive these guys definitely hoping for a better showing than their last appearance they couldn't really even move the football much Beyond The Shadow of their own goal post Charles we'll see if they can get a better more sustained drive going here yeah and every team that we ever talk to says the exact same thing when you start a drive from that deep in your own territory the goal is a minimum of at least two first downs because even if you have to punt then you change the field position right you flip the field a little bit they didn't get that done this time they want to string together a nice drive and help themselves out on first down this is maccaffrey and maybe a measure of Revenge there he's had his way in this one but this time they get him behind the line he'll lose a yard there and it's second and 11 well that was one of the few times they've been able to contain him thus far he's over 100 yard for the game but he lost a bit off his total on that carry looking at a second and 11 now after the loss this is mcaffrey on the G and he'll get maybe a couple if that up to the 46 and the big fell St that one up in a big way I think doubling him has to be a priority because you can't move up to the next level if you don't take care of him first here's third and N throwing here pie steps away oh the ball comes out on the H but they'll say it's incomplete one first down here and That's all folks good work by this defense to hold things in check and force a ping situation wishnowski on to punt as he sends this one away [Applause] and no one there to stop it hits at the eight but it carries all the way into the end zone for a Touchback the LA offense ready to go for their next Drive I kind of feel like they've reached a Do or Die point in this game Charles if they're going to try to pull off an impressive comeback it has to start right here right now yeah now they've got a final chance to get out of this situation but they also understand they got to move the ball and move it fast in addition they need to save as much time can get two more possessions and as they come to the line they will not be able to get off another play as time has run out on this [Applause] quarter sideline throw it's complete and a nice job there of keeping the toes inbounds here now second and [Music] four now a play fake and it's Stafford that's caught and now the ball's out fumble near Midfield it looks like one of the DBS has it and they will set up shop at their own 6yd line and I don't know that that fumble is going to matter a whole lot you look at the deficit here on the fourth it doesn't matter the coach on the sideline still scratching his head yeah not only scratching his head but probably writing a note or two about we're going to address this come practice next week because maybe that's the reason we're down this far doesn't matter at this point but being sloppy throughout the game not going to help him improve line of scrimmage the 15 it's first and 10 pie [Applause] open man is Samuel complete and he's able to break out a one tackle but then quickly brought down so the completion good for just three and that'll make it second down out of the gun pie over the middle complete that's Jennings they'll give him four yards there and now we've got a third down and three coming up here looking for three yards to up the first now P he's going to change the look [Applause] here they'll try and pick it up with maccaffrey and this is only going to be a gain of two he needed three it's fourth and one another good run for him what else is knew that'll put him right at 150 yard for the game so he's really made his presence felt in this one they'll run for it maccaffrey and he's not going to get there might have even lost a yard they'll get neither the touchdown nor the first down and the Rams are going to take possession of the turnover on [Music] Downs now Stafford and he's got his man on the out route and out of bounds across the 15 yd line so the completion results there in nine yards and it'll bring up a second and short to throw is Stafford and now here is another interception picked off by Fred Warner and he's going to get this on down to the 13 yd line that's now a second interception in his many weeks from his linebacker position and think about all the different techniques he has to employ in a passing situation is he spot dropping because it zone is he picking up manto man is he having to run with a running back or a tight end in any great eyes head on a swivel and excellent hands yeah versatility and showing those hands from the four this is second down and one now they run it's Mason and he'll be brought down here at the three yd line only gets a yard but it's enough to set him up first and goal y maccaffrey and he'll get it down close to the goal line but not quite in that gets him three yards closer here as it brings up second and goal again mcaffrey and this time he's into the end zone for a 49er touchdown well we talk a lot about Chris mcaf and what he can do in the open field and it's easy to gloss over how tough he can be to stop the line and he shows you just how tough he is on that carry as he takes it into the end zone so that drive four plays and the last play on the drive the touchdown run from Christian mcaffrey powering his way forward and he's up across the 25 and down at the 28 now the Rams offense they work their way back on the field and this group has suffered far tooo many self-inflicted wounds thus far as we run through some of the mistakes it's darn near impossible to win in this league when you're turning the ball over at the frequency that they have set to begin their next Drive the Rams offense at the line their mini two- game win streak appears it might be going by the wayside unless they can pull a rabbit out of their hat throw right side complete to Williams and he will lose yardage here back at the 23 yd line Y here's Stafford open man right side is cup complete give him a gain of five on the completion and that brings up third and a full 10 yards [Applause] here's Stafford they'll set up the screen this is Williams and he is stopped just short on third down got n yard but needed 10 and that's a play that's not uncommon on Third and long because the offense is just hoping that somehow they can get a guy in space and follow some blockers down field does a pretty nice job there getting a few yards but he ends up getting stopped before he get the first down and it's incomplete they cannot convert and they turn it over 49 going to use the first of their timeouts that'll leave with two remaining we'll be back after this maccaffrey running up the middle and not a whole lot of room to operate there on the first down run he gets maybe three Brandon I've got to think this offensive line has got some Smiles on it faces and I know it sounds crazy but they practiced for this back in training camp they knew they'd be in situations where it'd be extra defenders in the Box coming after him trying to keep them from locking down and across the CH into the end it's a 49er touchdown Jordan Mason his second rushing touchdown on the year and the 49ers are closing in on a third straight Victory to start the campaign Ry good with the extra point and this one was over a while ago as they just add on to that big lead so here's Moody back out there now to send this one away and a decent return out to the 27 yd line the offense for Los Angeles returns to the field we said it at halftime that they would need a nearly perfect second half to erase that deficit that they were facing CD but unfortunately the second half has pretty much been a carbon copy of the first yeah that early lead was almost insurmountable the way their opponent was playing and partner they do have some good news though this one is getting close being over and they try and hit the reset button starting tomorrow that good for 21 yds on the catch and run so one play and they're already just shy of [Music] Midfield [Music] Stafford oh he dropped it and that's pretty indicative of the way this one's gone now a second and 10 St e now to throw over the middle that's hauled by C and down he goes at the 49 a three yd pick up now third down and seven thir off a playaction here's Stafford and the ners get there and bring him down multiple players getting home there for an 8yd loss [Applause] all right they're going to try and keep hope alive here on fourth down they're going for it they snap it to Stafford he's going to float this one deep right side that's caught inside the 20 and he'll get into the end zone touchdown Rams two2 Atwell with his second touchdown of the afternoon and the Rams get a small measure of Revenge as they cut into this fourth quarter deficit extra point splits the uprights and the lead is down to [Applause] 24 so still lots of work left to do but here comes the onside kick and the 49er hands team does its job now they're down big here in the fourth they had to try the onside kick can't fault him for the effort at least no you can't at all and if nothing else now you've put something you're trying to practice right that you you've worked on into a game situation and now you can go back and dissect it so if you need it again sometime maybe you'll find a better way to do it but yeah this game's pretty much done for them so from the 36 now first and 10 another run this time maccaffrey and this will be a gain of five as he gets it to the 30 good gain there on first down and keeps him in a running situation probably they did everything right on that play didn't they they got the leverage up front good blocking nice hole for him ends up picking up nice yardage stays in bounds to keep the clock rolling they are in charge of this scenario right now they want to stay that way and not in any Rush offensively a 5yd pass on the heels of a 5yd run good enough for the first a hand off running right gendo and he is going to be stopped cold behind the line of scrimage that's Byron Young Who ranged in that time and stopped him for a loss now Mason and a decent gain there as that takes us to the twomin warning just two minutes remaining here in the fourth quarter of what has been a onesided affair so it's 49er football here as we get you reset they've got a third down as they look for one more first down to help salt this one away oh he had him he was open but he couldn't get it to him it's incomplete Jake Moody now on for the field goal from the right hash it's a 41 yd attempt and his kick here is good and that will extend their lead even further well ultimately not really sure that they're going to need those three points but they'll take the three and they pad that lead yeah this one's already wrapped up but you and I both know if you're an offensive coordinator you never let up on the gas unless the head coach tells you to do so and maybe you've actually clicked him off in your headset so you can keep calling plays and trying to add to this lead and good starting field position he'll get this one all the way up to about the 35 yd line Y they'll fake the give now [Music] Stafford and it's knocked away and inmet looks like they're going to keep throwing to the bit end this one's long since over but give them credit they're going to go down fighting that one incomplete now it's Stafford and down he goes the 49ers get there Javon hardgrave the D tackle getting the sack so now Stafford and the Rams after the sack and they're staring up at a third and long that is caught and he'll have it past Midfield almost to the 40 before being taken [Applause] down y back to throw Stafford that's into the hands of Parkinson to tight end and he's going to get this inside the 30 this gain not quite as good as the last but still over 40 yds between the two yd [Applause] Stafford he'll get this one complete to Atwell and this will leave him a yard short nice pick up of nine yds on first down just need a yard here second and one 18 y throwing again is Stafford and he's going to take this one in for a Rams touchdown Cooper cup his first touchdown here of the new campaign and the Rams are able to cut into that deficit extra point right down the middle and the lead now down to 20 that time a six play drive and it ends with Cooper Cup on the receiving end of the touchdown pass [Applause] oh a good looking return setup here the 49ers offense now they work their way back onto the field they're looking at a third straight win here if they can hold on they begin on the ground with gindo looking for aene but finding none he'll get back to the line of scrimmage and that's it call it no gain on the play and it'll be second down as usual the Hallmark of a good run defense linebackers making plays near the line of scrimmage absolutely nowhere to run there Charles a lot of happy faces heading into the tunnel as this one ends and understandably so not only did they get the win but boy their offense was on fire in this ball game and partner I have no idea where the top speed is on one of those high-end sports cars what's the Top Gear you can get into this offense they certainly were there in this one huh everything clicking for them in this contest the kind of performance that they're going to cherish so for the ners it's an ideal start as they move to
