EA Sports Madden 25 Preseason Week 3 Carolina Panthers vs Buffalo Bills game!

e e for the third and final week of the pre-season is here a fourth exhibition game is a thing of the past it's the Carolina Panthers and the Buffalo Bills on EA Sports Go baby all right no table is safe outside of High Mark Stadium because this crowd is loud and this crowd is ready for a ball game we're just outside of buffalo in for Park New York I'm Kate Scott joined by Brock H up here on the booth and here we are Brock final week of the preseason one last tune up for stars and starters and of course the game where a lot of these great camp stories will clinch a spot on that week one roster and I never tired of these great camp stories and they come from all different backgrounds some are undrafted guys some are vets with a restart on their career but they used the preseason in this game in particular to springboard some momentum into the regular season ready to get this game started here's Eddie Pino and off we go from High Mark Stadium that's going to be taken in at the eight and he made a push for the 30y lot before going up just a big shot so here come the bills for their opening drive and leading them out is the seventh year Pro seems to be in the MVP conversation every year now it's Josh Allen and it was another MVP caliber season for Josh season to go double digit wins huge numbers this guy just produces and has each and every year and what I love and I know his organization loves was him breaking that NFL quarterback record with 15 rushing touchdowns so their offense out now to get this game started it's first and 10 here's a give up the middle and he Maneuvers through the middle for a gain of four you know this is an offense that will emphasize the ground game at different points of each and every contest and as long as they can reliably get games like this it's not going to change anytime soon second and Six coming up here slot man in motion left second and six now short pass caught by his tight end and he'll get taken down after advancing this to the 37 he's just one of those guys Kate even when he's not open he's still a Target thanks to that physicality and his ability to just play Bly ball they don't like forcing into the coverage but sometimes when you got a bully like him that could create space just find a way to get him the ball [Applause] [Music] here's the G on Third and short and he'll go down it we'll say right at the 39 yd line two yds on the pickup and that's good for a Bill's first down okay you know me I can't resist I thought we might have needed the old jeans territor index C down there making a really close measurement to see if he got the first down or not but the end well the right call was made he got just enough to move the chains Allen pass complete to cook and that's good yardage with a new set of downs I love throwing on first down and when you see a first down pass just like that it's taking advantage of a matchup you plan for you go out and execute he brings the offense up now for a first and [Applause] 10 throwing here [Applause] Allen an alert play defensively there he got a hand on it to tip it away and that makes it second down you know as a QB I'm going to note that in the back of my head that was a heck of a break knocks the ball away DBS like that they tend to once they get one hand on the ball a pretty good beat on you and could get two hands on it the next time second and 10 now cook SS it in and he'll cross the 50 and start pushing onto the opposing side of the field it may not look like much on the staty this is kind of good on good an offense gets a completion not going backwards and the defense well they rallied they pursued and kept that screen to a minimal gain a less than ideal third and eight here Allen setting up to throw this is reeled in by Valdez Gatling and they get there to take him down right around the 41 you know I I like the completion you never turn down a completion that's just not the right throw to make in that spot to move the chains so on fourth down on comes Sam Martin to handle the punt for the [Applause] bills oh he nearly caught cor that one just a little too far and it's out of the side of the end zone for a touch back so here come the Panthers now for their opening drive bringing them out coming off a tough rookie season as the top pick in the 2023 draft is Bryce young watching Bryce young at Alabama he just made the game look so easy one of those rare prospects but everything just feels like it's in slow motion and he's in total control well fast forward to the NFL and he took a beating early in his career everything must have felt like a blur but there's no denying the promise he had has as a quarterback that high upside that made him the number one pick overall and that tackle stops him after a solid game every once in a while it's fine to be conservative on first down especially when you get enough to stay on schedule and get a little something coming out of it [Applause] to halfway to the marker it's second and five [Applause] [Music] tight end reels in the shallow throw and he's got a decent gain before being brought down sometimes when you're just looking to move it forward get some small yards on the throw quarterback's best friend security blanket when a big old tied end that's an extra bonus third down one yd to go they go play action here he's got it room to run he's going to bring it up to the 40 yd line before he stops with the pick up of 11 and that'll be good for a Carolina first when you see play action do all you can to get your eyes to the tight end because that's her BR and butter that play actually gives him time off the line helps chip a rusher or even helps sell that bake and then when he releases he gets out he gets some leverage he gets to that edge before the defender can cover him still sticking with the passing gain Trumble with the grab and he made a bit for Midfield there but stopped on his own side at the 49 that is the epitome of staying on schedule that kind of completion right there on first down well it opens up the entirety of the playbook for second down third and short in your back pocket you get even more aggressive and take that shot putting the tight end in motion running for the marker on second and he maybe got back to the line there but no further nothing for them on second down and now it's third and one so often we talked about the individual having to move on to the next play well that was a perfect picture of the collective that defense staring down second and one rose to the occasion collectively the hand off on Third and shorts and he takes it just inside the 40 down to the 39 12 yds on that play and a good call that'ss him the first win the early battle get little leverage low man wins off the line and that's all that was needed to ensure that first down right there their opening drive continues first and 10 now from the 39 now young here's a throw on the out rout complete and they haul him down just a foot or two shy of the red zone2 it's a gain of 17 on that one and it'll give the Panthers a first down and the panther first [Applause] [Music] down through one quarter neither side breaking through on the scoreboard hopefully no shortage of excitement coming up in the second we'll return to High Mark stadium in just a moment [Applause] we're ready to go with a second quarter it's Panthers football they're looking at yet another first and 10 on this [Applause] drive now it's young splits a couple of Defenders and completes it and he's brought down inside the 10 at the nine that's a gain of 13 and it sets him up with first and goal that is what Elite offenses are all about why worry about three Downs when you need only one move the chains in one play and keep driving that defense [Applause] backwards and he's going to score touchdown Carolina the Panthers get the game's first points here in the second well Brock you know this better than most sometimes these dudes can be a quarterback's best friend and finding the tight end in the end zone for six and it really has been that way for decades when you think about it Kate from John Mackey to Tony Gonzalez to Travis Kelce the position can be such a mismatch when you're throwing for the End Zone Eddie Pino on now for the extra [Applause] point the extra point is up and it is good and they add one on to their first touchdown of the contest [Music] [Applause] now Pino on to handle the kickoff his return start at the five and in the end Brock an exciting touch back as the return comes out to the 30 well we've already seen some nice plays here and we're going to see plenty more before this game ends but you might be thinking with plays like that my guy's ratings should be better well you're not alone you got a chance to let the Madden ratings hotline know know just what you're thinking give them a call 1844 Madden one and make your case for who should get a boost play action on first down that one is caught left side of the field and he's going to go down right along Midfield strike they pause down for an injured player regular season just one week away you don't to see any get hurt here hopefully something minor as the medical team works on [Applause] it only one play in Brook and this drive already to Midfield I believe in you here's Allen an alert play defensively there he got a hand it to tip it away and that makes it second down well Kate that wasn't a fast enough break for the interception but it was good enough in a good enough break to break on the ball get a finger on it and force the incompletion no dice on that prior pass here's second down now he'll throw off the play fake he'll get this to Samuel and they're going to H him down step before the 30 right at the 31 a 19 yd pickup and that's going to move the chains you know Kate you'll find teams go to this Crossing route concept sometimes a dozen times a game a lot of times it's for short [Music] moan in the tight end now Allen to throw that man over the middle complete they stop him he's marked down along that 18 yd line pick up of 12 on that play and that's good for a Bill's first down they like to say it's about the jimmies and the Joe's I think that's about the x's and the O's that's a well drawn up completion that get them a first down from the red zone now this one's caught and he's brought down inside the 10 at the nine well that is pretty darn impeccable timing between the two they hit a curl route of that length it takes great anticipation and precision by the quarterback and receiver on the other end finishing it doing his job in a good spot here second and inches Straight Ahead here's C and this one stopped at the three yd line it's a 6yd gain that sets up first and goal that's certainly a spot where you could be more aggressive Kate if you wanted to take your shots some coaches even the boulder ones will take the safe play first when they get it from time to time no third down required now they'll break the Huddle and come up on first and goal and he's able to tick this one in for the touch down the bills can tie it up in the second after cutting into the lead Josh Allen the touchdown they broke out the design run for him there coach just tells him hey Brock hey QB do your thing get us six yeah and these offensive coaches love this play and defensive coaches hate it K because it really gives you an extra hat right an extra number when your QB's got the athleticism got the legs got the instincts to go run it in 4 six a defensive nightmare an offensive [Applause] touchdown bills make [Applause] [Music] me bass now to kick this away his return start to the five he's got a lan up past the 30 and a good return here as he gets it out past the 35 the Panthers and Bryce Young making their way back out on offense they threw it the whole way down the field on their last drive and they' welcome the same level of play on this series as well a good field position for the Panthers starting this drive first and 10 out of the gun they'll give it to him inside and the middle holds they don't get anything on the Run call it no gain on that run and they face second and 10 you know Kate over the years I've heard running backs say there's just times you got to run in the darkness and when linebackers fill that hole like that right in the middle of the field he ran right into the darkness and the pain of that linebacker [Applause] hover again and he's only going to take this forward to about the 38 they push it forward for a yard that brings up third and eight I think one thing you learned Kate when you transition from college to the NFL not every run is going to be a big play some of them will they're just destined to end in a minimal game and some of them will set up that critical play action for later throw on third down and his perfect start is over and that's the first one of his throws to wind up incomplete you know it's a point of emphasis and practice each and every week no matter where we go how we going to attack the coverage on third down but shows a wrong play off that call sheet that time so on fourth down now the Panthers calling an all pro several times over it's Johnny Hecker for the punt so this one will go out of bounds and they'll start the drive inside their own 30 the bills offense all set for their next Drive they really have the passing game clicking on that last touchdown Drive partner we'll see if they stick with that or if they mix things up a bit on this [Music] series they're out and set first and 10 now Allen on top get to Valdez scantling and he's going to be brought down at the 42 he finds him 16 yds and a new set of downs from a great throw to a nice route and catch to move in the chains there wasn't a whole lot not to like about that amazing Play It's the two-minute warning now from high Mar the bills hoping to take a lead going into the break they'll head up first and 10 from the 42 back to throw now Allen Cox there's that out Florida State and he's able to get this down to the 36 it's a gain of 22 and that's good for Bill's first down I they love watching a great throw but I love watching the r like two make that guy think you're trying to stack him only to drop HPS cut right inside some good work to help reset those [Music] chains first down ball at the [Applause] 36 Allen looking to throw got a man coverage lost him complete and he's brought down at the 17 yd line that play goes for 19 and a new set of downs every tight end wor the Sal wanted this really crave manto man coverage the best of them give me manto man coverage and I'm going to beat you I was around Dallas Clark and Indie one of the best you play manto man he's going to find a way to out leverage you separate from you and make a play just as that tight end did up to the line and they're set first and 10 working inside by the Red Zone into the hands of Samuel complete y complete to Curtis Sam 10 y on the pickup it's in at the panther yd options are open here it's second and [Applause] inches he'll throw it yet again has it on the slant and he will score touchdown bu the bills get some late points and the lead so Brock this offense starting to find its Rhythm a bit as they finish things with a touchdown there to give him the lead and the key word there that you said is finish because you want to have that mindset even an early of the game that field goals aren't going to cut it so that's a great work to make sure they finish with six points bass on for the extra [Applause] point that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their [Applause] lead the bills make me want bass now to kick this away that's going to be taken in at the eight good looking return here and he's got room and he gets across the 30 before he's brought down here come the Panthers taking over late in this first half they don't have much time left but facing a small deficit they couldn't try to get this in the field goal [Applause] range theyve got first down from the 31 young to throw it escapes the pocket he can run it now we get a time out by the Panthers it's their first they'll have two left to work with before halftime second down now seven to [Applause] go from the 34 tight end reels in a shallow throw and he'll get taken down after advancing this to the [Applause] [Music] 37 all right it's a nickel set for the bills third down back to throw here's Young got him deep behind the line oh the B is out and this is scooped up by the bills and this will be a stooping score he brings it back with a touchdown great time to bring some extra pressure off that snap and that made all the difference in getting that fumble and the defensive score I did hear in your voice I think you saw it coming I saw it coming I think even the crowd saw it coming that quarterback did not see see that Blitz coming and boy did it pay dividends B on for the extra [Applause] [Music] point that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] [Music] nice little energy on their sideline after that fumble return score and with plenty of energy he'll send this one away and he opts not to bring this one out so they're going to enjoy some good starting field position from the 30 the Panthers headed out on offense again just before halftime not a whole lot of time left for him to put something together here before the break and even 20 seconds left at their disposal on the final drive of this half yep as expected they go to the drive to start this one off and his effort results in maybe two yards but nothing more now the offense going to take its third and final timeout and that's all they've got for What Little remains of this half eight yds to go let's see how they approach this second down from the 32 he doesn't see a window he likes so he just got rid of that one then brings up third down there was almost no resistance offered against the rush to came off the line ready to Maul anything in C it was all the QB could do to get rid of that before he gets absolutely clob last pass on successful and they have third down here young throwing here to the sideline complete and he's got the first down as he stays in bounds you're not going to last long in the National Football League if you don't convert a good chunk of your third Downs nice find there to continue the series first and 10 from the 41 he's back to throw and he goes down the bills got to him it's half time here in Buffalo the bills with the lead after two now it's down to Florida where Jonathan Coachman is standing by in Orlando for the EA Sports halime reports okay Kate thanks very much this the final game on the preseason schedule for these two teams after this comes final cutdowns and then we get started for real the countdown is on for the NFL kickoff game on the Thursday after Labor Day we were treated to a solid first half of football by the great quarterback Josh Allen he had a touchdown both in the air and on the ground to help push his guys into the lead at the break [Music] bass now to kick this away here's a return from the seven and in the end he's able to get it to what used to be a Touchback it's at the 25 after the return out come the Panthers their offense has it first here to start quarter number three they'll try to get that ground game established better than they did in the opening half Bron see if they can attack that deficit and the drive will start out with a first and [Applause] 10 out of the shotgun they'll give it to him inside he sneaks this through the middle maybe a gain of two eight yds to go let's see how they approach this second down they send the tight end in motion left from the 27 looking right and he brings it in and that's good yardage there with a new set of downs to boot I'm sure coach play caller doesn't mind making the job a little bit easier you know play callings a lot simpler and easier when you count on the offense to move the chains on those early Downs slated Downs to approach here from the [Applause] 40 now it's young connection made to tremble give him an even 10 yds on the play and that'll be good for a Carolina First K I can't tell you how good that is anticipating the outut having the ball on the way before the receiver's head even turns he puts it on him so that receiver can easily get out of bounds for the nice game tight end in motion [Applause] left shotgun snap looking to throw short pass caught by his tight end and they get there to take him down right around the 41 that is a textbook first down completion sets up second and very manageable and creates space to take that shot down field nice spot here for the offense it's second and one there's a hand off up the gut and they make the stop we're going to say at about the 37 yd line it's a gain of four there and it'll give the Panthers a first down I don't know about you Kate but he sure made getting that first down look really easy a lot e easier than it's supposed to be for that defense and I think they'll hear about it when they get to the [Applause] sidelines trying to throw here out of the gun throwing deep for the end zone and he's going to score touchdown Carolina the Panthers cut into the lead coming at a halftime all right so the offense does its job Brock now they need their defense to give him a chance to over overcome that big deficit the momentum in the building's clearly changed we can feel it here in the booth but you're right it's now to the defense to make a stop and give them a chance extra point try now from [Applause] Pino this one is up and good and they're a point closer now on the scoreboard pan 14 [Music] [Applause] and just like that we're back to a onep possession ball game as the kickoff is away here's a return from the seven and in the end he's able to get it to what used to be a Touchback it's at the 25 after the return the offense returning to the field now as we get a look at their wide outs that lead already smaller than it was at the break Brock and they're going to face a little pressure now on this opening Series offense ready to begin this drive first and 10 here's Allen he'll get this to Samuel and he gets back to the line but no more you know I I've learned over the years defensively they call that the Camera Club how many different guys can get rallying to the football to that last shot you you see on camera you see as many Defenders keeping that to a zero yard gain that's well done defensively second and 10 now this is reeled in by Valdez skaing and he's tackled after gaining a handful you know what I love to say you never go broke taking a profit and you often gain profits when you use your eyes as a quarterback those hitch routs as underneath throws often times it's the eyes quarterback looking down field and then taking that short completion Allen to throw he has the first over the middle and he'll get taken down after advancing list of the 37 they get six and a first down as well you know they call that the money down for a reason because you're just simply not going to last long in the NFL if you don't convert a good portion your third Downs it's the money down and nice to see them roll the dice and continue the series they are throwing it again that's complete to valz scantling and he'll get it up to the 44 good luck defending that short yardage slam just not going to happen there's a reason this is a go-to play for just about any quarterback in every situation second and three now option give here takes that a one stop and he's going to get stopped right around the 45 yd L that's an 11 yd pickup and it gives them the first down it's got to be so demoralizing as a defense when you go up against a running back who just keeps those legs churning like a piston in an engine and that effort's contagious this entire offense is getting a boost when he busts those tackles throwing from the gun here flush out at the pockets he's going to keep it this time and they finally bring him down but that is a big gain and a new set of down it's a pick up of 33 Y and that's good for Bill's first down I don't ever want to be a defensive coordinator they do so many things right to take away the pass and then what happens when you get a quarterback that lowers his head gastes the defense with one of the biggest runs of the game you take away the pass but you can't stop the QB run what a spot for a big play huh Brock it has it well into the red zone now with first and 10 from the red zone now pass complete to cook and they'll get this down nearly to the end zone instead stopped at the two it's a double digit gain 10 yards and now they've got first and goal it sure seemed like he knew exactly where he was going with that right off the snap four downs now to get in here's first and goal out of the gun they'll look to throw and he can't hang on touchdown in his arms but it slips through second down coming up plays like that are called ters it's why coaches live two years for one all the planning great play call careful execution led to that and it was still dropped to the turf touchdown lost they'll send him up the middle and he runs this one in for the touchdown the bills push their lead further to start the half it's a James Cook touchdown well in a close game they needed somebody to make that type of play now it pushes their lead to a couple of scores makes a comeback that much more difficult you know Kate their offense did its part and paded the lead now it's up to the defense to make this two-c scored lead hold up and carry it across the Finish Line B on for the extra [Applause] point that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead [Music] [Applause] the bills make me want pass now to kick this away return starts at the nine and he's brought down the offense will come onto the field the Panthers headed back out on offense their quarterback returning to the field now and he has to be happy about his game we're checking some of the highlights right now that he's made so far a good showing that's seen him in the zone from time to time and also he's just seen the field well from his spot in the middle of this offense [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] they'll get this drive started first and 10 receiver in motion going left young looking to throw complete to tremble and he's going to be brought down at the 42 a nice gain of 13 yards as it brings up a first down I know the combine tries to test everything it possibly can physically but I don't know how you test courage at the combine because there's no nobody defended you nobody wants to hit you but that was the epitome of courage to make that in cut and make the catch a touchdown aside in that frame as we run out of time in the third quarter the Panthers have it to start coming in trailing on the scoreboard they'll head up first and 10 from the 42 [Applause] looking to throw young that's complete to Le get and he takes it past Midfield and starts the drive into Bill's territory that's what you call efficiency exactly what you're looking for in first down spec play it sets up second and very manageable and it creates that space if you want to take a shot down field nice spot here for the offense it's second and one Hub trying this up the gut and he'll pick up enough to move the chain look at here you don't even have to worry now about a third down call as that run moves the sticks now that call you had ready though we can recycle it save it for later for that next third down coming from the 44 yd line now first and 10 shotgun snap looking to throw he's got it over the middle and he'll get it down to the 24 yd line they pick up 20 yds there and that'll be good for a Carolina first you know it sure seems like he knew exactly where he was going with that before the snap that's a pre- snap decision that led to a post Snap first down [Applause] the drive picks up here first and [Applause] 10 receiver in motion headed right throwing from the gun this is re in by Legette and they bring him down at the 18 yd line the goal of that little drag rout is get him for at least a minimal gain with space to add after that that picked up a good chunk it was nearly a big play after a good pickup they've got second and four young to throw it pass complete to hover he'll get this inside the 10 to the nine H nyd pick up and it sets him up with first and goal that's just great instincts go air it out on on second down rather than just play conservative and run it they hit a weak point in the coverage and don't need to worry about third down at all mov be quickly trying to get set again and he's going to score touchdown Carolina the Panthers making a ones score game that is a touchdown to one of their Prime receiving Targets this is really what you pay your skill guys for you know I had an old coordinator say it's my job to get you one-on-one it's your job to go out and win it and win it with a touchdown extra point try now from [Applause] Pino that's up and through for the point after and they're a point closer now on the scoreboard [Applause] and just like that we're back to a onep possession ball game as the kickoff is away away here's a return from the seven and in the end he's able to get it to what used to be a Touchback it's at the 25 after the return Buffalo sending its offense to the field and this really looks like a whole different ball game after that touchdown doesn't it they really need to go on a drive here [Applause] Drive starts out with a first and [Applause] 10 Allen that's taken in by Samuel and he crosses the sideline a yard or two Beyond looks like the [Music] 30 brings up second and [Music] after a good pickup they've got second and four from the 31 lot of speed on it too tough to handle incomplete looking for his wide receiver there and now they need to get four on third down can't cover it much better than that really well covered Kate on that play there just simply was not a window for him to sneak that throw in [Applause] he'll throw it he's got it room one and he has it to the 42 before they make the stop it's again at 27 yd the chains I think my favorite part is Magic after the catch the way he took the completion and made so much more out of it all the [Applause] they'll head up first and 10 from the [Applause] 42 slot receiver headed left still sticking with the passing game complete to Coleman he's going to get down past the 40 before he goes out that's a pretty similar result to a first down Run play moves It Forward keeps he on schedule Mak second and third down a whole lot easier to manage second and Six coming up [Applause] here from the 38 that's incomplete left side those passes get more and more difficult is to try to get aggressive down the field those windows and throwing Lanes Kate they're not open very long and it only takes a little bit for a throw to be thrown off no connection on the last play and outs third [Applause] down looking to throw couldn't connect across the middle it's an incomplete pass no luck finding his receiver that time and that'll bring up fourth down well covered on that play really not a large window for him to sneak that throw in so they sent him out for a field goal and they don't get much longer than this this is a 55 yd look from the left has and this kick is good he needed to get all it there and he did and that'll push it to double digits s it to possession G best kickers I've been around here over the last few decades they relish these moments they know the hard work all their buddies on offense and defense have done and they can make it a two-score game and be clutch when it matters these are the moments they live [Music] for pass now to kick this away he's going to feel this at the two and that's where they'll begin the drive following the return and on that last Drive Brock he crossed a notable threshold in passing yards for the season always nice when you can reach one of those plate to look back on after the year is [Applause] over they're out and set first and 10 young throwing here Defender arrives right as the ball does and the hit knocks it free incomplete as a defense you got to see the pass you got to time up your hit and you got to jar that ball loose not a lot of offensive players are pinging on that one through a well placed hit couldn't connect on first it's second [Applause] down back to throw here's young fires over the middle C and he'll go down after fighting his way to the 32 this is one of those kind of win-win situations both sides feel good as an offense get a completion I get a win as a defense I keep everything in front of me I make the tackle for a short game I get a win too sometimes you can get to win-win we've reached the two-minute warning from charlet Panthers got to score in a hurry third and six for them to figure out [Applause] now now young a bit of desperation on this deep shot his shot down field will wind up incomplete Deontay Johnson the intended receiver now they're up against it here on fourth down there's the importance of staying in Phase as a Defender he was all over him in coverage that really did help Force the incompletion they put a receiver in motion here left here he goes got to have this on fourth down and he's brought down after a nice gain and a first down now we get a timeout by the Panthers it's their first and they can take a moment to try to build more momentum after getting the first need to work as quick as you can here Brock two timeouts left down two scores it's first down now to throw and that's incomplete but he might have done a little too much to cause that flag comes out and this could be [Applause] interference and it's as we expected partner the call pass interference so put it at the spot and give him that first down [Applause] down a fresh set of downs after that penalty here's first and [Applause] 10 here he is to throw liette got it and he's short of the first after a mild game Panthers moving quickly trying to get set at the line connection made to tremble and he's able to get this to the 32 before going down now Carolina's going to take a timeout that's it second and they can take a moment to try to build more momentum after getting that first [Applause] it's a new set of downs for him at the [Applause] 32 to throw got him in over the middle complete and he pushes this down to the 22 yd line such a terrific job by the receiver you can't give that route away you got to run a curl and the best like curl and go hook and go out up guys Kate they run that initial route full speed he did got the defense to bite and the
