WHITNEY BURNEY, 7 NEWS DETROIT, THANK YOU SO MUCH. >> LET'S TURN NOW TO THE FORECAST. WE HAD SOME INCREDIBLE VIDEO SENT TO US BY VIEWER JESSICA WILSON IN LINCOLN PARK SHOWING YESTERDAY STRAIGHT LINE WINDS REACHING SPEEDS OF UP TO 75 MILES AN HOUR. I MEAN, IT COULD WORSEN. PEOPLE MIGHT BE BECAUSE KINDA LOOKS LIKE A TORNADO. IT'S KICKING UP DUST AND DEBRIS AND ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF, RIGHT? THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SEEING. SO MANY TORNADO VIDEOS. >> IT WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE CLOUD DIRECTLY THERE. AND THERE WAS NO ROTATION WAS ALWAYS YOU CAN SEE MOVING ONE DIRECTION. THAT'S NOT IMPORTANT. WE GET MORE PROPERTY DAMAGE AND MORE LOSS OF LIFE FROM STRAIGHT LINE. THUNDERSTORM WINDS TORNADOES SOUTHEAST, MICHIGAN. THAT'S IMPORTANT. YESTERDAY. THE STORMS WERE 10 MILES HIGH. THAT'S NOT NORMAL. ALL THE HEAT, ALL THAT EXTRA HUMIDITY. THAT'S A NORMAL. SO THINK OF THE STORM IS A HOSE. ALL RIGHT. SO WHEN THE WATER COMES OUT WITH THE RAIN, IT COMES STRAIGHT DOWN. IT'S GOT TO GO SOMEWHERE. IT'S THAT SPLASH WHEN IT HITS THE GROUND AND IT'S PLATS OUT AND THAT FORWARD DIRECTION. AND THOSE ARE THE STRAIGHT LINES THAT WE TALK ABOUT OF THE DAMAGING WINDS COMING OUT ABOUT STORM. AND YOU COULD CERTAINLY SEE THAT WAS A PROBLEM. SO WE TALK MID 70'S USUALLY AROUND HERE. A TYPICAL PROBLEM WITH THUNDERSTORMS, WINDS UP TO ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR. BUT THAT STORM 75 METRO. 76 ROSEVILLE. 75 WHITE LAKE. 67 MILES AN HOUR. SO YOU SEE THAT THERE IS STRONGER THAN NORMAL ENERGY RESULTING IN STRONGER THAN NORMAL WINDS AND IT WAS WIDESPREAD AS IT CAME THROUGH. THAT'S WHY THE POWER COMPANIES STILL HAVING SO MUCH TROUBLE. NOW, THE HEAVIEST WIND IS ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR AROUND ANN ARBOR HERE. THIS IS SINKING TO THE SOUTHEAST INTO THE LIVONIA COMING OUT OF OAKLAND COUNTY RIGHT NOW. THIS IS REALLY ALL THERE IS A NIGHT. IT'S A LOT I KNOW. BUT THE POINT IS IT'S NOT NEARLY WHAT IT WAS LAST NIGHT. IF YOU GET NERVOUS, GET INSIDE WILL HAVE SCATTERED EVENING STORMS AROUND. DONE ABOUT 10 O'CLOCK OR SO. PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BE SEVERE, BUT THE SEVERE THREAT IS BACK ON FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT WILL DETAIL THAT FOR YOU.
