What Did I Do After My Dollar General Trade Crashed Hard Today?

[Music] I'm going to check out Dollar General I own some shares of Dollar General and today the stock just tanked so I need to see [Music] um before I I purchased more shares and before I decide to sell my my shares I I want to go and check out the company ianes so basically if I go there today I'm going to check out four to six stores depending on on the time frame here um so basically depending on what I see today if I like what I see then I'm probably buy more shares as drops or buying opportunities [Music] now if I go to the stores and the stores are still dirty the environment is not conducive for um a successful retail then um then I'll most likely be very upset um you see you have Walmart and Walmart is executing retail pretty well and you have Dollar General and Dollar General is not knowing how to reach its core customer base and the execution of what they do best is to me at the moment um something that I am questioning so we'll see how it goes um I I really hope that I'm hoping that this works out uh however when buying shares of companies we must not become too uh emotionally attached to a thesis to a company believes whatever we we must be subjective and look at it from a bird's eye view to zoom out and get a clear picture because companies they do fail every company will most likely fail Walmart right now is doing pretty well but there used to be a company called Kmart and it used to compete with Walmart and Kmart went out of business uh um Dollar General is no different you know it can definitely go out of business as [Music] well when I first bought it it was one of my first companies that I researched and the which is which is which is which hurts you know I I did a lot of research on Dollar General and I liked what I was seeing So I placed an overnight limit order for for a price at the um at a support level and the stock just tanked hit my support uh I mean hit my my limit order and it just went down and um so it's kind of like that story you know you you um you're riding a horse you fall down then you have to get back on the horse immediately because if you don't it burns you right you become traumatized so with Dollar General I'm a little traumatized because I feel like I did research and it felt like it seemed from what I was seeing that it was a no-brainer and uh it didn't work out that way so so I think that um I think there's a learning opportunity here and I must really hone that down so I'm going I'm driving um going to check out the stores and and make my decision and um and that's it please don't mind the mess we um we recently moved to uh to California and uh we really haven't been able to to get everything organized but we did get some some things like um sorry I'm trying to figure this camera out still got some furniture all right we got we got a table now which is nice but we still have we still have boxes as you can see look what I bought today a Dollar General two bucks I was like I got to get it you know it's just fun but um and uh in my office is down here in the foyer it's just it's just a huge mess but anyways I um look at this yeah that's funny so I went to Dollar General today and I was I was um I was interesting because I saw that there were a Dollar General market which I had no idea really I had no idea um maybe it's a West Coast thing or um but where where I've been to um to Dollar General and I've never seen one it never popped up so it might be um I have to research it might be a new thing that that they're doing or but I drove from Ohio to Florida Florida to uh California and I was checking out two stores Costco and Dollar General so I would I would be hopping around just to get an idea of what the of what they um what the stores um looked like and felt like and you know the the energy the vibe of the place and um the Costco Costco Pizza in ton Arizona was the best one it was actually crunchy you know had a crunchy crust to it uh but anyways I digressed um so today I drove around to check out Dollar General and I you know I liked it they the stores are busy they did have an increase a small increase of foot traffic in their stores based on earnings report um I don't think this is a moment for me to sell my shares and just take a loss I actually think that this is an opportunity for me to dollar cost average means meaning purchase more shares uh while it's down so I did place a limit order uh hopefully it fills and um so I'm not going to go all in the money that I have available for this um I'll do it gradually because I'm already in the stock so I I'll take a I'll take a little nibble now then I'll wait a week two weeks see how the the St the the chart is is doing and um and look at the indicators to see uh possible um possible entry opportunities but this is not something that I follow all the time um it's one of those trades that didn't work out and I honestly believe that you don't sell a good company and it's not like I go shopping at Dollar General right but um you know I I believe that majority of companies will recover uh in the shorter time frame like if you're looking at it in 100 years 50 years 20 that's a different story um so I I believe that if you sell you lose by the way not Financial advice or anything but um but with uh with Dollar General I I I think that um you know I can I can risk a little bit more I don't have a huge position um but you know it's it's money that is you know uh it adds up you you take profits small profits it adds up and you take small losses that adds up too so I um I tend to only trade solid companies and if if it doesn't work out I just hold and I I keep cash so that I can take advantage of opportunities so it's it's it's good to trade um the way way I trade the way I do it you definitely want to be doing uh the weekly time frames daily and you can you know look at the 15 minute and the one hour to just to get an idea of things but it's it's better to to place the trades off of a higher time frame chances of success are a lot higher and profits are a lot higher too you don't have to sit at the charts although I love the charts and I love trading it's fun but it's um swing trading um buying the dips buying the the fear then just holding it is is is how I found to be uh my Edge anyways so I went I checked out a ton of stores today I bought some things bought some toys for for Anna I bought a puzzle for Kelly and this is just fun uh I I tend to be a little um methodical about things and um I I I sometimes forget to have fun so getting something you know once in a while is just a a good reminder to hey live a little all right anyways um if you have any questions let me know um now would I be buying would I be recommending you to buy Dollar General no um I'm already in it I I would probably say so it's like what 84 bucks right now I would probably say hey take that 84 bucks um get together a little bit more money and buy something that's going up like Nvidia Nvidia right now is is going down but remember solid companies when they have a hard time um that's a buying opportunity if you want to remain in the in the retail sector um um Walmart Walmart is um is cheaper than uh Dollar General Disney is pretty much this well it was earlier this morning uh Disney is at around $90 level um you have Starbucks so you have other options right um so Dollar General has to me what I've seen a huge problem that it has is um theft I think I think they have a lot of employee theft um and uh I was talking to an assistant manager somebody just handed her money and said thank you and I'm like you got a little nervous you you don't know but you don't see a lot of cameras inside the store right so it you don't see a lot of cameras and you don't see a lot of a lot of people there either to you know stop the theft so if if um if somebody wanted to go in and take something it's they could definitely do it and probably get away with so they they do have a lot of theft um I heard that Riverside here in California got a grant and they're going to start monitoring the region um with the with the security uh cameras that they're that they're um that they're installing um which is good and I was also told by one of the employees that um police has um been um they have been quicker to respond to their emergencies which is a good thing so I I think theft is the main the main um issue um some of their stores don't play music and having a little background music is nice today the Walmart I went to today didn't play music either it was all quiet um so it's it's um for me is all right I'm in it I have to get out um I don't like that stock I don't like that company so I'm just going to purchase the shares until um until you know I lower my average and the price of the stock hits and we'll see how it goes it if we have a recession um that stock will go up a lot more people will go shopping there I mean you can buy a a can of uh green beans or something for like a buck for like a dollar um so I I think that if I really needed to save some money um I would probably go to one of these Dollar Generals or Dollar
