Scraping the BEST REI Labor Day Sale DEALS Live! Video Will be Deleted Soon

hey everybody it is Saturday morning before Labor Day I should be on my way up to camping and I will be immediately after I finish this video but I was coming up a bit short this week to get my normal video out and published today it's not quite ready so I thought I would jump on and do this willy-nilly what I'm going to do is I'm just going to kind of go through some deals that I'm seeing on the REI Labor Day Cale that might be of interest to you now I have no affiliation with REI other than I am a customer of theirs I am not even in their affiliate program I'm not going to be providing any links to you I'm just going to be pointing out some things that I think are good deals mostly things that I know and I've used or I have and then maybe some other things I think look like a little bit interesting so this deal is only good or this sale is only going for three more days it ends on Monday Labor Day that would be September 2nd of 2024 um in the year in which we are now and then I will probably be deleting this video after that because it will no longer be relevant so uh let me share my screen and let's just dive in and see what happens boom boom okay here we are you should be seeing my screen the big Labor Day sale here um obviously they curate it in different ways so you can look by what you have the most interested in I pulled up the camping and Hiking section here and here's something that I like to do just to see what really are the best deals and I just sort by the percentage off and that starts showing me the the biggest discounted items and I'm going to scroll through stuff that I don't know anything about although this is probably interesting a Marino top but um other than that I'm don't know don't see anything that I love or really care much about a lot of it you'll notice is REI gear obviously they probably have way more margin in their own brand name gear so they can discount it a lot more this is also a clearance sale so things like this are probably last year's model now here's an interesting jacket I do not own this jacket the um the flash stretch rain jacket but I've heard good things about it and namely that it's a great value for the money so if you're looking for a basic rain jacket 83 bucks half off a normal price has pretty good reviews on here uh that might not be a bad deal at all for you um the half doome tint this is a tint that has been around for years I remember my dad got one when I was a boy scout uh as a teenager you know that was a while ago so I'd say uh and I know they' made iterations on it so 200 bucks um for this tent this is the three person but it comes with a footprint which is kind of a bonus um really good solid design it's going to stand up in any weather it's works just fine for car camping so uh and I noticed I think not only the three person but I might already have it up here's the twers version is also on sale at 50 50% off so 175 bucks for a two person which to be frank like that would be a comfortable one person but you can legitimately squeeze two people in there a threers would make a nice twers backpacking content all right if you want a little bit of room in there to put two fullsize pads a little bit of gear and be able to wiggle around all right so that's um this is I think a really good deal I haven't used this generation this model of this generation of this tent but I'm familiar with it um because of its history and I wanted to point out the weight um it's not terribly uh heavy uh 4 pounds 13 ounces your minimum Trail weight with all the bags and everything but you can cut some of that out to put it in your pack cut almost out cut out almost a pound um that's not too bad for a threers tint um I believe this is made of okay it's a nylon ENT I was thinking it was polyester but it's got a lot of nylon in there so but it is totally freestanding as well it has a full rainf fly it's double wall it's pretty sturdy it's going to really hold up in most weather conditions so not a bad uh deal at all and I mean that that's even a good price for a lot of these um Amazon brands from companies based in China like nature hike or one Tigress who are making some good budget friendly gear um this is competitive with that so just keep that in mind that's a very reasonable tint for nylon which is usually a little more expensive than polyester um the weight is not amazing but it's not terrible either for a three person tent and and the same can be said for the twers tent which I think comes in at let's just look um 3 pounds 15 o is that the same 3 pounds 15 ounces for that and this was what oh no that's a pound lighter all right so yeah you can shave a pound right there so that's a tin I would even take just for myself on a solo trip or when I'm the only one that's going to be sleeping in it okay um let's get back to the results here let's keep coming a RAB women's jacket they are a reputable brand that'd be interesting now here's some pretty good beginner gear again I haven't used this I have used um the REI Trail made backpack or at least I've gotten I got two of them actually on Clarence last year for my daughters and uh it's great actually they it's adjustable it's not that it doesn't have the finest materials or the light it's not the lightest weight backpack um they're really meant to be for kind of entry level and that's totally fine even if you're going to be doing this regularly but not every month maybe a couple few times a year and you just don't want to spend a lot of money but you already know what you're doing then why not you know it's going to weigh a little more it's not going to be made as of As Nice of materials as some of the others but this is a a tent a sleeping bag and a pad I mean um for 200 bucks under 200 bucks that is uh that's hard to beat I mean uh I I wouldn't be too shy away from that the only thing is if you're going to be backpacking with it um that's going to be a little heavy but if you're just looking for something to car Camp from or to you know pitch tint right in the developed Campground by your car fantastic option cruising on I'm not going to go through all 110 Pages I'm just going to kind of look and pick out some good deals here I noticed they're Hawking their coolers now I haven't actually tested their coolers believe it or not I've got a lot of coolers and tested a lot of coolers but not theirs um but just from this you know what these guys are competing against so this one right here the cool Hall 24 soft cooler that's probably going up against like the yeti Hopper or my favorite the Cordova what do they call that backc country class something I think maybe that's what it is Backcountry class they're soft cooler which I really like the Arctic which is a very popular one and this price is about half of the next cheapest so not a bad deal um but I I can't really speak to its uh Effectiveness or quality or whatever but everybody's doing these wraps now interesting walkable blankets I guess there's different size of that cooler I love me a good pillow now I don't know about these these particular Camp pillows but um I'm a I'm a big fan of having a pillow on the trail some more just REI gear all right let's um we go through one or two more of these pages and then I'm going to switch to a different category okay here we're getting into some tents o some shorts you know I was looking for some shorts piranha I've had some of their stuff before it's pretty good usually pretty expensive so but if it's down to 36 bucks I could probably Muster that for a pair of shorts but H 34 all right if you're size 34 waist then uh there's a pair of shorts it might still work for you and yeah you can get it for $36 bucks all right I'm not really a Clos Chopper all right here's some more of those Trail those Trail made ents but just the tent stand alone so 90 bucks for a one person entt or 100 bucks for a two person now I'm guessing this twers is going to be a pretty tight two person uh 52 inches wide so you could barely get in there two 25 inch pads next to each other but there's going to be no gear inside and you got to be cozy with that partner um so if it's like second tier friend then maybe uh maybe not but um here's the helinox chair zero very popular camping and backpacking chair because it's very lightweight um 90 bucks that is a very good deal on that chair 40% off normally it's 150 great deal here's the other ones I know I saw a deal on all of these xed sleeping pads are also on sell for an excellent price um in fact I saw earlier yesterday yesterday when I was perusing this well let's just pull this one open so these is this the one I'm thinking of seven and a half yeah yeah this is the style I'm thinking of okay I have I don't have this specific Pad but I have slept on it because my sister has one and that's what I slept on at her house I also have a knockoff version from Amazon and I love these pads these are car camping or you know tent camping but you're not backpacking in they're just too big and bulky and heavy but man if you want to sleep as close as possible to how well you sleep at home in your own bed then this is a very interesting option so check that out and hey by the way Mobius I see you're on live and you're commenting thanks for your comments anybody else that might join us feel free to thanks uh that's um been a lot of fun I've I've just really as I started doing these videos is kind of when I started doing it and and I've been really enjoying it um makes Winter camping some of the funnest camping I've experiences I've had especially I've been able to go out with my family in a big tent have the the stove there we're all just hanging out it gets dark early so you kind of just forced to have this like family togetherness time playing games baking cookies in the tent not so worried about bears hopefully they're hibernating you know uh yeah love that stuff anyway that was a Sidetrack but yeah Mobius did clarify the new it's the new Nemo Moonlight chair it's normally 190 bucks and and so you get about 40 bucks off if you go for that Nemo Moonlight chair on here um okay right on so let me this this Camp pad from exped that I was talking about they've got this in different sizes so this one it looks like a single person size but they also have but it's long and extra wide so this is going to be extra comfortable um and normally 200 bucks down to 113 that's pretty sweet uh that's actually makes them competitive now with all of the um competitors that have popped up since they created the original mega mat so this deep sleep I don't actually know that that must be different than the mega mat so let me let me go back and find the mega mat because I know it's in here we'll get to it um but I will point out this tent the north Bas 104 tent 240 bucks for a family car camping tent that's not a bad deal you know that's something you looks like maybe you can even stand up in it or close um we came from the car good deal I mentioned the chair zero excellent deal now this is something I want to try and maybe I was blown away so I'm a big fan of Cs not I don't Tak them backpacking but when we're just camping I'm I try to always take a cop but the ones I have are just some cheap Coleman ones they do the job just fine but I've been thinking about something maybe lighter weight or more compact um and this helinox light cot looks pretty awesome now it's obviously low to the ground but um that's not a big deal you could still slide a couple things under there as storage although I do like kind of being up so you can sit on it um in a in a car camping or a hot tenting situation it serves as a couch when you're just hang out um but this one wouldn't be quite that but um 300 bucks for a c just seemed egregious to me 180 all right I guess we're getting into the still the most expensive CS out there but um I'm curious about it if any of you have tried that one let me know because that looks like a very interesting uh little product there the hubba hubba tint is a lover haate tent I've never slept in it but I know some people love it and you've used it for years it's a model that's been around for so long kind of like that Half Dome from REI but some people really hate it for a number of reasons I can't articulate why so I'm not going to spend any time on it but know that looks like they're on on sale for a pretty good deal too um a tent or excuse me a sleeping bag so I'm not a huge fan of mummy bags myself I like to use a quilt when I'm sleeping or when I'm camping but um uh here that looks like a good deal on a on a down sleeping bag that brings this North Face bag into the same price range is the Kelty Cosmic or Cosmic Cosmo Cosmic I think uh we have one of those my daughter uses it but I've borrowed it from her before um great down sleeping bag for a pretty reasonable price even when it's not on sale so so uh but this kind of brings that in that range so I imagine you can find a good deal on a sleeping bag yeah looks like all North faes a lot of North Face sleeping bags are on sale right now um here we go an xed Duo uh Sleeping Bag very interesting for couple that want to share um here's more MSR tins I don't care for heavy water bottles that doesn't make sense to me um MSR hairs ground steaks these are people like these steaks if you need some lightweight steaks to replenish your backpacking kit um $2.70 for one steak that's not bad but you can probably find even cheaper out there I do love myself a little mini towel on backpacking so five bucks I mean doesn't really get any better than that so if you're looking for for a little mini towel to keep in your kit for um uh Pat drying after you jump in the lake to rinse off or from for drying your your pot after you'll clean it you know I use this for all kinds of things even wiping off the condensation from inside of your ENT um in the mornings if you want if that's bothering you a lot of folks do that so that that's uh that's five bucks is a great deal for a little t uh like that that can serve those purposes um no I kind of like the idea of this little tent that looks like it ought to be pretty light aess one and access two I I'm I'm leaning towards in fact I was just shooting a video yesterday about um how I was looking for a twom men a twers uh backpacking tint it was super lightweight but really just with the intention to use it just for myself when I'm on trips by myself but I want a two person for a little Elbow Room I have another onep person tin I got a while back and just wasn't a fan in the end so but three pounds 10 ounces that's that's not super super light so that kind of surprises me it's that much money for that much weight so anyway I don't know anything about this tin just cut my eye um curious about trying just the the tarp shelters but there's some perhaps interesting deals on tarp shelters gosh I know I saw a couple other good deals in here um oh yeah Mobius you know you mentioned actually all those lightweight chairs are well discounted and zero and the the air flex light the flex light and I think the flex light air CH chair is on sale too so I'll jump over there in just a second because I know there's other stuff but oh here we go this is the mega mat I wanted to point out this is the double siiz version but I'm sure they have it in a single size as well but this is such a comfortable pad and normally 350 bucks so that's like as much as I paid for my mattress at home um I'm not gonna that that just seems like too much for me personally to pay for a camping mat 200 bucks so that brings it down to competitive with all of the others that have come up and knock these guys off so if you want to get the real name Brown the exped the kind of original I I think they were the originals to make this design where it's this it's really thick it's foam but it's not the like the old original self-inflating Camp pads that that usually were only an inch and then maybe two inches thick um that took a while I don't know whatever they're doing here it's different they even I think they put holes or or there's some striations or Cuts like cyphing your tires but on the foam inside and that's supposed to help um air pass through as well which should keep you a little cooler in the summer but also uh maybe a little warmer in the winter somehow but whatever the case um they they are there's air and foam in there and they're extremely comfortable there's also some Flex so it feels closer to what a mattress at home might feel like um but you can still roll it up and and throw it in the back of the car or the truck I really like uh I I really like the exped that I slept on before and I really like the knockoff version that I have and for this price I would go ahead and consider just getting the the actual xed because that's for a double one in this case uh that's probably about as good a deal as you're going to find so that's a pretty good A pretty smoking deal I think for um uh this REI Labor Day Sale this year take a serious look at that if you're looking to sleep better out there um okay lots more REI clothes bike tires tubes I'm not really looking for bikeing gear right now all right oh good this brought us to here which is so this is a a shirt I think I bought this earlier like the Fourth of July sale or something I just bought it this spring or summer um but I got to say man I love this shirt I wear this all the time I've been doing this thing lately I'm working on another video about hiking every day and so um you know that'll come out eventually but right now I have been wearing this shirt almost every day and it gets pretty pretty stanky after a few days so I'm washing it pretty frequently but man this is uh I was a little skeptical I haven't been really doing the sun hoodie thing for a long time and um you know I see and hear more and more people doing it and you know instead I do hate sunscreen I'll I'll wear it but I don't love it so I started doing this and I'll be darn if um it's not uncomfortably hot even in the summer and it does help kind of keep the sun off you but it's lightweight they breathe super well I love those thumb holes and the long sleeves I got a size extra large and it fits me very comfortably with um extra room to boot which I like that relaxed fit and I think these are intended to fit pretty loose um and then that hood believe it or not is super handy too you know I put it on even when it's super Sunny to kind of keep the sun off my face and and um even when it's a little bit cool it just is a little little nice layer so I love this shirt for 35 bucks in fact I'm thinking about getting a second one because I've been using it so much and it'd be nice to to to not um I don't know have one available every every day because uh sometimes it gets a little funky but highly recommend that shirt right there um okay yeah M's pointing out another deal don't forget if you're a member you can actually during this sale you can get a an Outlet item for an additional 20% off um so that's cool that's 20% off of the already discounted amount because anything that's up here at this REI outlet is usually discontinued stuff or low stock stuff that they're just trying to uh offload you know sometimes last year's models limited sizes and things but I found some great deals so yeah remember that extra 20% off thanks for thanks for that comment um and now he's saying plus free shipping if you're a member but he doesn't work for RI he uh anyway that's cool same I don't work for REI and like I say I have no actually Financial incentive to tell you to buy these things and I wouldn't go buy them if you don't need them I'm just trying to point out where some of the good deals are now here's the flex light air chair um I have one of these and I like it a lot it's another one that people don't always love but it came out as like a budget alternative to the um uh uh now the name's just skipping me the the the light chair the helox light chair or zero and then also to now we've got that new Nemo um light dang it now that one just Moonlight I think that just came out so this is right in there and this I think is a bit lighter than all of them it comes in at like exactly one pound um so I do take this on backpacking trips and I'm so glad to have a chair when I'm out there the feet are a little wonky it is a little wobbly if you put it on soft ground I have tipped over but I'm a bigger guy and it's held me up and it hasn't worn out it hasn't broken and um you know I'm willing to take a slightly less comfortable or less perfectly set chair for a bit less money and a bit less weight to be honest um I think this is still the lightest option out there for uh really lightweight backpacking chairs because I believe it's exactly one pound [Music] um yep one pound oh boy okay so so yes I highly I can highly recommend that one I would like a sleeping bag like this for my wife and I when we're camping together okay here's one uh I can recommend this as well I have this pad I it is become it has become my I've tried a few different pads over the last few years um and by a few I mean probably like four or five and this has been my favorite um and this is kind of my go-to now I'm going backpacking here in a couple weeks with some buddies I will be taking this pad um I use it I've used it on a car camp out or actually like my kids used it in cases too when I'm using my big fat one this one is still gets up with plenty of Loft it was plenty warm for any conditions I've had it in so far I also got the The Wider I think I got the long wide one so it it's I like the size um and I I think I got it on sale as well um at a different sale but anyway 118 bucks that's a that's a good price I mean it's it's not like cheap you know there's obviously way more cheap pads out there but this is I built to the same quality is the Nemos and the big Agnes's and the other popular pads of the backpacking world that might cost you twice as much so I can I can recommend this one in good conscience I've used it to have it and it's it's currently the one I I prefer of my backpacking sleeping pads I'm really interested in trying this cot I love cots in fact someone's asked me to do a video about cots before I think I need to do that sometime but I only have the one Cheapo ones I've got right now so I'd like to get a bunch and test them let me know if that's something you're interested in or if you're more of the lightweight backpacking type folks and don't care about cots but anyway those are um some things to think about oh uh um Stand By Me you're asking if anyone have dedic go jugs I can't pull the trigger on a faucet it's on sale for 80 bucks anyone find a cheaper solution uh I think what you're talking about um are those jugs that you fill with water and they have a pump or something that maybe they're on sale here and that's why you're looking at them um I maybe I'll try to pull it up here uh and we'll look at that so give me just a second here's another cot from REI now that's a price where it is interesting 70 bucks so I would expect to pay a minimum of like 50 bucks for a decent Cod I think I paid I think I paid a hundred bucks for a two pack of these Coleman CS um which are Bas the very basic cheap heavy kind of obnoxiously heavy Coleman cots I paid a 100 bucks for two of them from Costco so 70 bucks for one that might be lighter weight or more convenient or better is is not a bad deal at all um okay let me look up that uh that you just mentioned there doedic go jug because I think yeah yeah is this the one you're talking about or this one is probably this one the other The Jug does that have that spigot on it okay um interesting that's a little different design I'm not so I'm not familiar with that one I just use you know I haven't got fancy I kind of like that size I can see the size and form factor being interesting there stand by me I think um I just use a cheap Reliance seven gallon blue jug I think it's like 20 bucks at Walmart or just about anywhere but it's it's kind of bigger and bulky it wouldn't be great to stick in like a a car it works fine when we're throwing it in the back of the pickup to go camping but um darn no but I'll think on that one if I come across anything I know I appreciate all your support over as I've gotten this YouTube thing going stand by me and I've seen your comments and if I see something that's interesting I'll try to remember to reach out and and uh tell you what I found uh okay I'm going to just pull up here they they also sorted out a bunch of their deals just by the REI Co-op brand name and uh so here's more some of these we've already seen now that there's the half doome tint there's the flex light air chair there's that trail made tint um good car Camping sleeping bags this is going to be comfy um I really like something like this for winter camping uh I use my old Coleman still but they're flannel line and I toss and turn a lot and it sticks to me and gets all bunched up so I'm thinking about getting something different uh this year and something like this would be great because I like to spread out and move I don't like constriction of my legs in a mummy bag and something like this doubled with like a quilt a down blanket or down quilt late on top of you in the winter even when it's well below freezing is has been a an excellent solution for me um so a sleeping bag like that for a hundred bucks it's pretty good now I probably aim to get one with even a a colder rating than 20 degrees um if I'm going to do it for that purpose but yeah they're big tints you know these big family tints I've heard good things as well I haven't used them I know this Wonderland one has been pretty popular um also it's you know it's not cheap um it's as much as a canvas entt um which I'm a big fan of canvas tins if you haven't noticed but I I'd say um this is something that'd be kind of interesting maybe I to get one and and test it out and compare it to some of these canvas options of the same price but uh more more sleeping pads I don't know what the idea is with this airl I've seen a few like that so I can't really speak to that but there's my Helix um oh this all right that's very very interesting this is a pack that I personally have not used but I have seen many uh YouTuber gear reviewer and others say they love it in fact my friend just got one um he'll be taking it on those trip we're going on and I I know this is maybe this is like last year's model or color or maybe it's this year and they're just trying to get them sold but whatever the case uh excellent reviews about this this pack for the weight if you want something that's really lightweight um 55 lers in my opinion is plenty even for longer trips and I like having uh I think the pack I normally use it's about the same and I don't like going too big some people think well I'll get like a 70 L or these 80 lit packs or even the 60 lit ones because then I have options to to use them for bigger trips or different trips and the the reason I don't like that is because on most of the trips you go on like a Weekender or a two nighter or maybe even a weekl long trip um when you have a smaller pack it kind of forces you to comply to the volume that you have available to you and then it makes it so you don't take a bunch of junk that you don't need and overall you'll have a more comfortable experience if your pack is lighter and more compact so I like I like the pack size actually to kind of limit a bit my my choices that I can make on what I pack so um I don't know if you agree with that philosophy or not but anyway 55 is good this flash uh pack I hear is very good and for 140 bucks that might very much be worth your while I'm checking into so um yeah if you're in the market for a pack I would not hesitate to jump on that I'm kind of tempted to do it just to put it in the mix of packs um that we try to review or look at because that's a that's a pretty good deal um we spend a lot of money on gear and so I always try to find things on on sale to so that when I'm buying stuff to review it's cheap um no sometimes companies send us samples that we try out for free but most of the time we're buying it so um anyways let's see if there's something else of of note here oh let me catch up nice thanks everybody for all your comments and your participation in
